What about Bones?

So sometimes I think about AOS vs TOS, and the biggest thing is that in TOS, Mcspirk is basically cannon. You cannot tell me those boys don’t love each other, it makes me crazy.

But in AOS, it’s just Spirk. Don’t get me wrong, I was a Spirk fan waaaaaay before I noticed Mcspirk in TOS, but I try to see the tension between anyone in shows I watch, I Jim and Bones just seemed like brothers. On the surface, this is just interesting, but what about Prime!Spock? (I’m gonna call him Selek)

Because he knew Jim and Leonard since his 30s. In this scenario, he dated them, basically married them. Hell, he’s t’hy’la with one and shared his katra with the other. He knows them. It’s the three of them.

So do you think he gets whiplash sometimes?

I bet he visits Jim and Spock, sometimes, especially after they start dating. And I wonder if one time they’re talking, and Bones walks in, and he’s expecting him to join in. To meld into the pair like his Leonard did. But instead he stands apart, like the friend that he is. I bet it’s heartbreaking, another reminder of what Selek’s lost.

Not only that, but what about Bones?

There’s an animatic somewhere on YouTube of Everything Stays where it compared AOS and TOS, and it pointed out to me that in the Kelvin timeline, there’s no nurse Chapel, and it got me thinking.

Not only do we not see Nurse Chapel, but I don’t remember there being a Doctor M’Benga either. So he has none of his original work friends in the sickbay. Well, he still has Jim and Spock, to an extent.

But what about Joanna?

We hear about Jocelyn in the shuttle, how his wife took the whole damned planet in the divorce, but does that include his daughter? The crew are significantly younger in AOS, does he even have her? Just how lonely is Bones?

I think about Leonard McCoy a lot.

Do you trust me? Pt.4

" You got one too?" " Yeah, I did." I turn around to see Annie, she holds up her letter. The same as mine just without my name. " We should accept." " I can't leave Natalie." " Joy can watch her, Mrs. Kelly can help too." "I-I guess." I agree. There's nothing much we can do. If I accept then I can do some good with my life, save lives, stop wars, and so much more. I call the number on the letter. "Hello?" " Hi, this is Isabella Sackfield, I wish to apply to Starfleet." " To be what exactly?" Crap, I didn't think about that. I'll go with whatever I say first. " A captain." " Alright, the next shuttle to the academy leaves on September 3rd. Have your bags packed and labeled with your name, age, and what you are going to be. Thank you for your application." I turn around to face Annie and say " I leave in two weeks, that Sunday to be exact." " I called too, I leave with you. We'll have to tell Joy and Sara." Fuck, we do " You tell them and Mrs. Kelly. I should pack." I know we have two weeks but I need to talk to Natalie. She'll be devastated if I die or anything happens to me. I let a single tear fall down my face as I walk up the creaky stairs. I have to be strong for her and prove that I'm better than most think I am. I have to prove them wrong. The two weeks pass quickly, Joy and Sara are going to let Mrs. Kelly live with them and pay for her house so she can go back there at any given time. Annie and I say our goodbyes before leaving. This is the second house I've left in what could be the last time. We make it to the shuttle and I place my bags in a separate one. We fly up to the academy to start a new adventure in our lives.

Do you Trust me? Pt.3

It was 2259, outside the small town of Lohrville, Iowa. This was where I used to live. Emphasis on the used. It was a charming place, we owned a farm. The house was creepy looking and sometimes it seemed like it would fall over but, it was home. " Why can't you be better you brat!" " Just do what you're told for once and don't ask questions!" " You're a disappointment to this family!" " If I'm such a disappointment l then I'll leave!" That was all that was heard throughout the house. It was October 2nd, my birthday. I ran upstairs to pack my bags. I was leaving for college anyways, most of my stuff was already packed. As I ran back downstairs, my "family" watched me. My little sister was crying because she didn't want to see me leave but, it was all I could do. I mean, Mo- Ranee thinks I'm the spawn of Satan himself and D- Ryan didn't care. I sighed before storming out and slamming the door to my old home for the last time. I got into my black truck and threw my bag into the passenger seat. All my other stuff was in the bed and backseat. Backing out of the driveway, I look at the house one last time before heading off to restart my life. It had been a few weeks, I was in Georgia. A town named Toccoa. It was a nice place. I was neighbors with a man named DeForest Kelly, he was rather nice and we played chess, cards, and checkers together. After I graduated I called some friends from High School. Annabelle, she answered right away, something she never does, and asked so many questions I couldn't understand what she was talking about. We met up and bought a house together outside of Toccoa, De and I still talked. That is, until he died. I lost one of my greatest friends, we were so close he was like a father to me. Goes to show how unlucky I am. Can't have anything nice. Joy found out about the house Annie and I bought, we hadn't moved in yet. Sara found out soon after. This leads us to where we are unpacking our things. Funny, I go into my past and how I got where I am but never explain who my husband was. He was a man by the name of Jake, Jake Bond. I would jokingly call him Mr. Bond as a joke. We married while I was in college, my second year to be exact. We go drunk one night and, well, that's where Natalie came from. When we found that I was pregnant he left me. I raised Natalie on my own. De helped me with her, being the grandpa she needed. She doesn't remember him much, thankfully. She would be devastated if she did. She's so brilliant and sharp. She's definitely my daughter. With the sass and sarcasm, it isn't hard to tell, that and she's a nerd like me. It was the day before I moved out that I got the letter. The letter from Starfleet.

YOU DON’T GET IT

Kirk and Spock will go to hell and back for each other no matter what. They sacrifice so much for each other because they are filled with love for each other. Kirk literally gave up his career, starship, and all else because the needs of Spock outweighed the needs of anyone else. The plan wasn’t to save him, IT WAS TO GIVE SPOCK A PROPER FUNERAL. and Spock was literally told that he couldn’t complete Kolinahr (the ritual to rid all of his emotions) because he was still LONGING and they told him to go and sort it out, SO HE WENT BACK TO KIRK.

BECAUSE FOR THEM, ALL ROADS LEAD TO EACH OTHER.

Reposting My Boy

Lieutenant junior-grade Sopek

Sopek was born to a high standing Vulcan family, due to his mother, T'Pring, being a part of an historically aristocratic clan and retaining these ties despite her marriage to Stonn, a member of a more humble family. This upbringing in ShiKhar’s high society and status as an only child encouraged his haughty and vain personality, in that subdued, high-class Vulcan way.

Due to their own experiences with arranged bonding and the social fiasco of the Koon-ut Kal-if-fee, Sopek was not bonded as a child, with T’Pring refusing to force her child’s mind to be tied to someone he could not choose himself, for his own logical reasons. Many elders of his clans disapproved of this choice, but Sopek was confident that he would be able to secure a bondmate in case he should undergo Pon Farr before having found someone.

A fairly talented telepath, he enjoyed showing off with people as a young child.

As a teenager, he became a very big fan of Spock, in all the irony that he was his mother’s ex-betrothed, and against his parents’ wishes, he joined Starfleet at 17 due to how much Spock inspired him. He completed the science program in the fast track, focusing the astrophysics speciality with certain tangential studies, graduating in two years.

During this time, he also started a club for Human Studies, in an attempt to palliate his lack of knowledge concerning human references, behaviours and media. Staying at the Academy longer would most likely have helped him more, but in his stubbornness he maintained that he could uncover these concepts through logical means. Each semester, Sopek coerced a human student, mostly Terrance Riley, to review the club’s findings and grade them. This research was not very conclusive, and by the time that Sopek was assigned to the Eridani at 19 as a lieutenant junior-grade, he remained fairly ignorant about human culture.

At Starfleet, he did not share his parent’s or clan’s name to avoid plummeting his chances of getting assigned to the Eridani due to Captain Saavik’s close connection to Spock and the fact his own mother incited kal-if-fee on him.

His posting in Dr. David Marcus’s science team came with a learning curve about behaviours, and his egotistical attitude was taken down a few notches during his time on the Eridani.

Dr. Joanna Eleonora McCoy, Chief Medical Officer

Daughter of Dr. Leonard Horatio McCoy and Jocelyn McCoy, née Hall, was born on January 7, 2257. In her early life, she lived on the planet Centaurus, an Earth colony orbiting Alpha Centauri. She and her family were there in 2259 when the planet experienced a crop failure and the entire population was threatened by starvation; fortunately, philanthropist Carter Winston's intervention prevented the worst. While she was a toddler at the time, both of her parents repeated that story to her very often, and this selflessness inspired Joanna in her career. When she was four, her parent’s relationship, which was already fraught, broke apart in a messy divorce, partly due to her father’s job taking him off planet often, and her mother’s growing discontent with their relationship and her longing for a former sweetheart of hers. While they tried to shield her from it as best as they could by sending her often to stay over at her aunt and uncle Donna and Fred Withers, she still witnessed many arguments and was disheartened by the repetitive fights and the pressure to have to “pick a side”, even if her parents never asked her such a thing.

Deciding on a compromise, Joanna would stay for a few weeks with her mother on Centaurus, then a few weeks with her father on Earth, as he decided to return to live in Georgia to practice medicine. During these shuttle flights, Joanna fell in love with the vastness of space, seeing it as more of a bridge between her family than a dark, unknown dangerous thing as her father did. Additionally, these constant transitions made it hard for her to ever feel rooted and at home somewhere, except in space, which influenced her choice to pursue a Starfleet career.

Eventually, her father got a starfleet commission, and as such the visitation time was more stretched out, but she never lost contact with him. When he joined the crew of the Enterprise as CMO, Joanna often exchanged messages and video calls with her father. During that time, she continued her schooling on Centaurus and did her pre-med there, until 2278, when she decided to return to Earth for medical school at the University of Mississippi, of which Leonard McCoy was an alumni.

Being a young woman with her first real taste of freedom, she had a few situationships, namely with a woman named Marianne, with whom she believed she had a serious relationship, but it wasn't reciprocated.

In 2282, while already having gone through medical school, she decided to join Starfleet medical to take additional xenomedicine and xenobiology classes, as well as earning her qualification for space service and a Starfleet commission. It was where she first met Saavik, then a first year cadet who got herself injured in a less-than-fair boxing match with a jealous player of a rival baseball team while Joanna was volunteering as a medic on duty at the Academy Gym. During that period, she also dated Malcom Erikson, then an Academy upperclassman who had to retake a few fitness tests and classes to be allowed his full commission as an officer. Joanna’s time at the academy in San Francisco brought her closer with her father, partly because it allowed her to spend time with him regularly for the first time since he began serving when she was 12.

She then served on Luna base and on Mars as a doctor, then on Deep Space 2 from 2284 to 2290, before requesting to start working on ships, namely the U.S.S Carpenter until 2296, when newly appointed Captain Saavik made a request to have her as her CMO on the U.S.S Eridani.

Joanna’s father was nervous about her joining the fleet and very scared of her first long space deployment with the Eridani, and has always been wary of her joining Starfleet, considering his own dangerous experiences in space.

A shrewd doctor and surgeon, she inherited the fierce protectiveness of her father, and is known to have a temper when under pressure. She also is a very trusting person, being far less skeptical than her father, with a very loving and generous personality, and that has caused her to be burned one time too many in her romantic relationships. Despite that, her kindness remained, and her bedside manner was appreciated by many crewmembers, until she began berating them for their carelessness in the field.

Saavik, Captain of the U.S.S Eridani

Saavik was born approximately in the year 2265, on the Romulan colony of Hellguard, a mining planet of arid temperature also hosting the site of technological development of a bioweapon. The leaders of the colony intercepted four ships from the Vulcan Science Academy, and their crew were brought to Hellguard to serve as test subjects for the weapon, as well as provide a new generation of subjects through their rape. Being half-Vulcan, half-Romulan and hailing from such a violent planet where murder and famine ran rampant would most likely have meant a death sentence for Saavik and the other hybrid children of the colony, until Spock and the Vulcan high council learned of it and deployed a rescue mission.

At about 9 or 10 years of age when she was rescued, Saavik already had a keen and curious mind, and after saving Spock’s life one night in Hellguard’s desert and briefly bonding with him on the subject of stars, with Saavik claiming their ownership, she refused to trust any other Vulcan adults that were a part of the rescue mission. Spock convinced her to rejoin the Vulcan vessel by promising to take her to her stars, and secretly trading her knife with his tricorder, promising to keep the weapon that kept the child alive safe on his person while allowing her to embark.

After this rescue, Spock took it upon himself to raise Saavik, as she refused to take the DNA tests that would have allowed the Vulcan Council to trace back her remaining family, as she knew that it would mean to be taken from Spock’s care. While spending a year with Spock on the planet Dantria IV, Saavik’s interest for stars and space travel only increased, with Spock often using mission logs and stories of the Enterprise’s crew to impart life lessons to Saavik. In that time, she learned proper language, Vulcan philosophy and the rudiments of logic, before continuing her education on Vulcan while living with Ambassador Sarek and the lady Amanda once Spock returned to the Enterprise. Already, she wished to enroll in Starfleet when she would be old enough.

In 2281, Saavik entered Starfleet Academy as a first year cadet, aged approximately 16 years old. Her hybrid heritage was kept relatively secret, with only a few select admirals being aware of it, but considering her grades and recommendation letter from Spock, it wasn’t a problem for her admission. During that first year, she notably joined the cadet baseball team as pitcher, as well as participating on a highly classified mission that brought her and Spock back to Hellguard one last time. After these events, she pursued her studies in the command track, meeting Joanna McCoy in 2282 while she joined Starfleet Medical to get her xenomedicine and space travel formations.

In 2285, at around age 20, she was in her last year as a cadet, and after taking the Kobayashi Maru test, and succeeding in the test of character, she took part in the training cruise led by Captain Spock, and later Admiral Kirk as a Lieutenant junior grade. When Khan Noonien-Singh began his revenge and search for the Genesis device, she participated closely in the event of the battle, also taking part in the landing party to Regula 1. After it’s detonation and Captain Spock’s death and subsequent funeral, Saavik was transferred to the Grissom as a lieutenant, albeit now no longer junior-grade, implying a field promotion for her implication in the event of the Battle of the Mutara nebula and preceding it. As Grissom inspected the Genesis planet, she worked mainly as a science officer, and beamed down to the planet with David Marcus when life signals that could be associated with Captain Spock were detected on the surface. The pair discovered the young, regenerated body of Spock, yet it lacked its mind and spirit, as it was with Dr. Leonard McCoy. Saavik had to meld with the young Spock when he began experiencing severe pains she wrongly associated with Pon Farr at first, but were in fact the results of his telepathic centers lacking the stability of familial and amical bonds, these bonds having been broken by his death and remaining with his mind and spirit out of his body. The telepathic centers send painful telepathic nerve input through his body, aggravating his already painful aging along the surges of the Genesis planet. Klingons in search of the Genesis later ambushed them and after David’s heroic sacrifice to save Saavik from Kruge’s order to kill one of the prisoners, she melded with him, accidentally creating a sibling bond between them while also saving his life. After the fal-tor-pan, Saavik remained on Vulcan for a year, mainly to watch over David as he recovered and keep him company, as his state was too fragile to travel back to Earth for a long time.

Following that year of sabbatical off-fleet, Saavik returned to San Francisco, where she had to argue with Starfleet Academy admissions for them to allow David Marcus to enter the school for command, field science and space training and then the fleet. The Admiralty eventually allowed it, but it was made clear that anything that could go wrong with David within the fleet could be of consequences to Saavik’s career.

Saavik was then assigned once more as a lieutenant, this time on the U.S.S Agincourt, and served as helmsman, tactical officer and sometime navigator, as needed be. Her captain appreciated her efficiency, and in 2287, when now once more Captain Kirk requested for her transfer at the helm of the Enterprise-A after Hikaru Sulu’s departure to command the Excelsior, she wished her good luck and many successes. She then also earned the rank of lieutenant-commander along with a full helmsman task.

Saavik remained aboard the Enterprise-A until 2289, when the post of First Officer of the Eridani opened and fleet command decided to promote her once more, this time to commander. She served on the Eridani for six years under captain Bowman, until he decided that it was time to retire once the ship returned to Space dock for maintenance and updates.

As Eridani was planned to go back for a five-years mission in deep space, Saavik was seen as the best candidate to take on command of the ship, being one of the officers serving on it for the longest time and having shown a neat track record. Saavik was made captain in 2296, at approximately 31 years old, making her in her time, the youngest Starfleet captain, beating her former mentor James T. Kirk by 2 years.

Saavik’s captaining style was influenced by her use of logic and reason, but considering how important her survival instinct has been in her youth, she didn’t shy away from following her instincts. Her knowledge of ships, strategies, weaponry and scientific instruments from the Federation and out of it was extensive, as well as her knowledge of norms and regulations. Her service under James T. Kirk, namely during the training cruise, taught her about the importance of knowing when to bend the rule. Despite these capacities and Starfleet command’s trust in her, she often wondered if she is good enough to be a captain, and hoped that she would be making her mentors proud.

Saavik doesn’t express her emotions a lot, but Spock having met V'ger before rescuing her and her many years serving among humans taught her how important emotions, feelings and connections to others are. She valued her close friends, namely David Marcus and Joanna McCoy, but also tried her best to be available to subordinates and bond with her department heads and crew, as much as the chain of command allowed. Despite all of that, she struggles with opening up to others about her fears or deeper insecurities, being a part of why she had a hard time falling into a rhythm with her First Officer at first, even if she was supposed to rely on him.

tell me more about sopek i beg you

Absolutely!!

Tell Me More About Sopek I Beg You

Sopek is the 19 year old astrophysicist aboard the U.S.S Eridani, a constitution-class starship captained by Captain Saavik. He’s one of the characters featured in the storyline/project series which is being posted about in more detail soon at @startrek-eridani ! (He’d be very disappointed I did such a rush-job on this portrait. You can’t rush perfection.)

Here’s some facts about Sopek:

- He joins Starfleet at 17 and fast-tracks his studies so he graduates in two years, focusing mainly on his astrophysics and tangential scientific studies.

-in hindsight, he probably should’ve spent the full 4 years there actually gaining experience, learning about human social mores, and making connections with others because he’s sorely lacking in understanding of human culture by the time he’s on the Eridani. He failed to consider this. Whoops. But he’s Sopek so he thinks he’ll get along just fine regardless

- he doesn’t tell anyone who his parents are nor does he share his clan name. He doesn’t want anything getting in the way of his chances of getting onto the Eridani (including potential biases against the kid of the woman who incited kal-if-fee on spock)

-he started a club for Human Studies while at the academy because he’s so desperately lost when it comes to the stuff humans reference and a lot of the behaviors they exhibit, their media, etc. The handful of Vulcans who are also attending the academy at the same time, plus a scattering of other alien races all join the club and Study Intensely and Take Notes to try and figure out the enigma that is human socialization. He persuades (intimidates) one (1) human into coming by every semester and grading their Findings, and every semester the club is sorely disappointed to be told everything they thought they figured out is actually not on the mark at all.

-the human who he continuously gets to do the grading is Terrance Riley, son of Kevin Riley. Terrance actually ends up serving aboard the Eridani too, so he becomes Sopek’s go-to for Human Consultations. Terrance is too scared to refuse his questions :)

-once he’s aboard the Eridani, he learns of a phenomenon some of the crew members partake in called “girl’s night”. It becomes his life’s mission to be formally invited to girl’s night for anthropological reasons. (Also one of the male crew is always invited to girl’s night so he wants to be included too >~< )

-He’s not as well-versed in cross-studies and other fields (unlike his idol Spock :/) due to his hyper focus on his contributions to findings in his field of specialization. In other words, this man couldn’t throw a punch, run a mile, or cook a meal to save his life prior to starfleet survival training. What can he say? He’s a ShiKahrian snob and we love him for it

-he was given the choice of whether or not he had to go through the kahs-wan, and chose to do so (motivations may or may not have involved potential bragging rights). made it through the kahs-wan by just chilling in a hideout at night and stealing eggs from a Teresh-kah nest. He secretly thinks his little commemorative kahs-wan bicep tattoo looks dope as fuck, logically speaking in terms of aesthetics

-Stonn and T’Pring do not force him to be bonded at the age of seven due to their own experiences with the traditional rituals, so Sopek remains unbonded. Some of his clan elders are concerned about this choice, but Sopek isn’t worried at all, and thinks if he really NEEDED to form an emergency bond with someone, he’d have no problem securing one in a pinch. There’s no shortage of people who would want to be secured to him. It’s only logical- after all, he thinks he’s Vulcan’s Green Gift^TM to the galaxy

-his parents may have unwittingly unleashed a monster

-what did they expect? He’s an only child

-he def wears finely embroidered Vulcan robes of high quality as casual wear (and the embroidery matches his eyes. He’s so julia)

- he may or may not imagine Spock giving him advice when he meditates sometimes

-he may or may not have an Interest (crush) on a certain Betazoid communications officer aboard the Eridani… we’ll learn more about her in a post I’m gonna make soon!

-maybe the whole simping for a cool woman out of his league thing is genetic on his father’s side

-he may or may not be the Actual Worst when it comes to actual, real life flirting. His idea of a marriage proposal is telling someone their work is adequate and then very swiftly fleeing the room

That’s all I’ve got for now without any significant spoilers! I think Sopek would be Very satisfied with all the attention he’s already generating on tumblr dot com (he’s so diva superstar).

<333 thank you for your interest

Hey guys so this is a project my friend @purple-iris has been working on for a bit (with some minor contributions from myself), it’s basically a “lost media” tv show of Captain Saavik and her crew serving aboard the U.S.S Eridani getting into all kinds of adventures! There’s been 4 seasons worth of episodes plots outlined for trekkies to use as prompts for Trek fanfiction or artwork or, well, anything really! There’s a lot more to come, including posts about the plot of the show, descriptions of the characters, some artwork (expect some fanart from me pretty soon), so stay tuned if you’re interested in learning more!

I was talking to my friend and it hit me that there is SO much potential for a My Big Fat Greek Wedding Spirk AU.

Like dude. Just picture it.

30 something year old Spock trying to live his life and gain some autonomy from the bounds of Vulcan culture and trying to date Kirk in secret. Spock having a big ass family and the reason he keeps not telling Jim about his relatives is because he can’t keep track of them there’s so many. Instead of a bunch of cousins named “Nick” Spock has ten Vulcan relatives all named Selek. He secretly has no idea who is who (much less which part of the family they’re from).

The scene where they find out about Toula’s boyfriend and they’re like oh so YOURE Mr Pottery Class EXCEPT it’s “ah, so YOU must be Mr Transwarp Theory Logistics,” and Jim is like sweating bullets while Spock is internally hemorrhaging.

Jim having to undergo various Vulcan rituals and learning the language in order to impress Spock’s family.

Someone PLEASE write this. Like.

Jim: I’m sorry I didn’t ask to date your son, but sir, he’s THIRTY years old!

Sarek:

Jim: Alright. May I.. PLEASE ,, date your son???

Sarek: …

Sarek: no.

Jim: …

Jim: I’ll see you tomorrow Spock

(Bonus points for Sybok - or Michael- being like Hey Jim! We’re gonna kill ya!) ⌄ ⌄
