your relationship with kuroo was fun, with playful banter and laughter always echoing off the walls of your shared apartment. pillow fights and tickle wars were a frequent occurrence, as were lazy weekends lounging on the couch while binging shows. and that was exactly what you were doing at the moment, much to kuroo’s dismay.

“babe, let me watch my drama!” you whined, flinching away from him as he poked your side repeatedly.

“you’ve been watching the whole day! you know all that screen time isn’t good for you,” he lectured, shuffling closer to you. his hands brushed over your sides, bubbling laughter in your throat as you tried to swat them away. but kuroo’s hands were bigger and stronger, easily resisting as he continued to tickle you and procure stifled chuckles out of you. until finally—

“kuroo! you know what, you’re gonna regret this!” having had enough, you ripped your attention away from the riveting climax of your drama unto your boyfriend, immediately tackling him down. his back hit the couch as you straddled his chest, trying to find all his sensitive spots.

“is this what you wanted? i’m going to tickle you until you can’t breathe so i can finally watch in peace,” you huffed, kuroo laughing more at how cute you were rather than from your attempts to tickle him back. his hands easily wrapped over your wrists, restraining you while you squirmed above him. amused and a little aroused from all your spunk, his eyes wandered down your figure. he glossed over the outline of your breasts unconstrained by a bra and your noticeable lack of shorts under his oversized shirt, but his attention was fixated on your burgundy lace panties.

flicking his eyes back up to meet yours, he clicked his tongue to get your attention. “you think i wouldn’t notice your little lace secret, kitten?”  

the growl in his voice kindled a fire that swept through your insides as you closed your legs. but kuroo’s hand was quick to move, grasping and pushing your thigh back to give him more access to you. “…all my underwear are still in the wash so— k-kuroo!”

Hajime wants to scream. The dragon seems to agree with him and gives the man the stink-eye. “Okay, wow, now that was hurtful.” The man returns the look with a pout and a grumble. His brown hair is cascading across his face in gentle waves that reflect the dim light like gold and the sharp line where his jaw melts into his neck is teasing Hajime from underneath the collar of a sapphire blue robe.

The Torch Carrier—Child of the Pyre, Child of Death

(and once again this is gonna be some massive spoiler for anyone actually reading this AU, but like... pls, I can't stop myself)

The Crossed Torches are an old symbol for a gateway to the realm of the dead. Karasuno in particular has a deep connection to death and its manifestation—The Angel of Death, Azrael.

Once every blue moon, the angel, who has no permanent physical form in the realm of the living, chooses to take hold in a human who then becomes their vessel. The vessel provides their body and their soul as new habitat for the angel and offers themselfe as tool for the angel should they decide to take action in the corporeal world—whenever they act, angels usually choose to modify the body of their vessel to reminiscent their ethereal form. In return for hosting the angel, the vessel can use its power and call favors from the entity.

Suga was offered as a vessel by his father, in the hopes of Areal being able to cure his sickness. Not knowing the details and conditions of vesselship, Suga accepted in the hopes of now being able to die. However, it did neither what he nor his father wanted, as vessel ship is a soul-bond under the protection of mother fate and made his live her property (so that fate alone could influence it—he can neither take his live nor can Azrael prolong it). Since then their relationship has been rocky. At first, Suga was angry at Azrael for deceiving him but eventually came to the realization that he now had to make the best of the situation—from there on he quickly learned how to call upon the angel's powers, for example by reassembling the spirits of authors of rare books and make them help him reconstruct their works, translate them from their original languages or teach him in their field of expertise. Over time, Suga has gradually grown into his role as vessel and managed to find a harmonious co-existence with the universe-shaping entity making snarky comments inside his soul. The only things they repeatedly clash over is Azrael's increasing interest in Natsu (and Daichi's adamant dislike of the entity, although Suga is more annoyed with Azrael for teasing his husband than angry).

Hanamaki: *hysterical wheezing* Matsukawa: He knows it's infertile, right? Iwaizumi: If it makes him happy...

Update for this ~ They are having an egg 🥚🐉

In this AU, all dragon genders can lay eggs—it's just something that happens when they start building a nest with a trusted partner. Young dragons lay 4-6 infertile eggs before they have the process figured out and can make eggs that actually hatch something. "Test eggs" are very potent ingredients for potions and also a delicacy—Iwaizumi, Matsukawa and Hanamaki want to make an omelet, Oikawa wants to be extra and show it off to everyone.

(Small spoilers ahead in case anyone is actually reading this AU and cares)

Crows burn the bodies of their dead to free the souls from attachments as far as possible and allow them to pass beyond the veil more easily.

Kings and Queens however are oath-bound to the land upon coronation and once they die, their crowns and blades are brought to a sacred cavern beneath the highest hill, in order to bind their souls there so that they may be called upon and provide wisdom and advise to their successors.

Nobody who is not a crowned royal is allowed to enter to sanctum and nobody who has entered is allowed to ever speak about it with anyone who hasn't.

In the night after a coronation the older/ruling kings/queens show their chosen successor to the sanctum and decide where they want them to hang their crown/place their blade once the day comes. In order to complete their anointment, a newly crowned ruler must submerge in the waters—this will bind their soul to the land for eternity. This is why becoming a king/queen of Karasuno is binding for life and can not be reversed.

The cavern also has a much older purpose: It serves as temple and resting place to the Angel of Death, whenever they aren't inhabiting a vessel (which they current are -hint hint-). The Angel, who embodies the concept of death, is worshipped by many although barely anyone knows what the being really is and that is is far less omnipotent than commonly believed.

Fic Idea?

​Been re-watching ATLA recently and got the sudden urge to finish a fic I’ve been working on. It’s a Haikyuu AU fic set in the world of ATLA and follows the *general* plot of the show, but I take a lot of liberties to make it how I want. It’s pretty light on shipping in the beginning but I have plans. Really I just wanted to practice writing plot without getting caught up in world building and character development like I usually do. So I decided to post about it here since I want to get feedback. Even though I’ll be posting on AO3 I wanted something a little more behind the scenes to get some extra interaction. 

Here are some brief concepts that found their way into this little project of mine.

Hinata is the avatar. There are definitely a good number of candidates for this role, but I thought I’d have the most fun writing Hinata as the main character for this one. His journey in Haikyuu is full of struggle and growth and I think there are a lot of parallels there to work with when it comes to him being the avatar. 

There are a lot of side characters in this. They aren’t super prominent but I think it’s fun when some more overlooked characters pop in here and there. Like Dateko are all guards on the walls of Ba Sing Se or Nekoma fills the general role of the white lotus, but as more of a secret rebel group within the fire nation. 

As a consequence of the plot I have laid out, these are the main pairings:

Hinata/Kageyama

Bokuto/Akaashi

Tsukishima/Yamaguchi

Oikawa/Iwaizumi

These four get the most development and drama but plenty of others get their moments and are certainly not ignored (mostly because I love them too much). Those being:

Daichi/Suga

Asahi/Nishinoya

Kuroo/Kenma

Sakusa/Atsumu

Osamu/Suna

Ushijima/Tendo

and some others who don’t really get too much attention but are mentioned

I’ve seen a lot of people put Tsukishima in the role of Yue, which makes sense with his name and whatnot, but I went with something a little different. I have Akaashi filling that roll and I took inspiration from Yue and Sokka’s relationship to write Bokuto and Akaashi’s. I think, like Yue, Akaashi would have this sense of duty to his people and that is very interesting to write IMO. (Don’t worry, major character death is not one of the tags for this).

I’ll probably have art for this! I’ve done a couple of sketches already but I think I’d like to do at least some doodles for most of the chapters. 

There will be a lot of angst, but nothing super hardcore. I’m a sucker for angst with a happy ending, so if you don’t like sad endings you’ve come to the right place!

There is a lot of character exploration. I’ll do my best to keep everyone in character but I also think they would be different when put into these situations. I try my best to write them as believably as possible while still also having them serve the roles they need to in the story. 

I’ll probably post more about this even if not many people are interested. I think it’ll be fun to document this little journey of mine and perhaps keep some ideas written down somewhere. I also love to bounce ideas off of people so if anyone would like to reach out I’d be super happy!
