I know it's been awhile since I've done one of these, I prolly got the number wrong but whatever. It's nice to see y'all! 😁 All distractions aside lately I've been thinking about yuji. A LOT. On Tumblr everyone gets inspired by everyone and that's what made this yuji monstrosity 💀.

a/n: yes…. i know yn still thinks of yuji as sukunas vessel but i got tired of writing it, also i updated yns ct (its in the intro!)

youve never been to a sleepover before. sure you had seen them in movies and tv shows your mother snuck inside the clan. but you wouldnt imagine it would be like this. although sukunas vessel was the one who invited you, its not as bad as you thought

yuji grinning at you, eyes bright with excitement. “its cake time! whos gonna help me??!”

you blink. “cake?”

“yep! were making a cake!” yuji says with enthusiasm, already pulling a box of cake mix and bowls from the kitchen.

“come on, yn. youre helping too” (kugi)

you hesitate, youve never baked before. not really. but you didnt want to seem rude, and maybe itll be fine.

“okay.”

yuji hands you the cake mix and a measuring cup, his grin wide. “you just have to mix this stuff up. dont worry, its easy.”

you look at the box, reading through the instructions. It seems really easy.

theres a slight mess with the cake mix, dusting the countertop. you slightly frown at the spilled powder. its not the mess that bothers you the most, its that you can feel yuji and nobaras eyes on you.

“yujis gonna eat that powder off the counter.” nobara says playfully.

yuji glances over, raising an eyebrow in mock offense. “no i wont.”

yuji watches you for a second, then nudges you gently, whispering in uour ear. “i will, i lied”

“i can hear you, yknow.”

…

you think youre done. you hand the bowl back to yuji, who looks satisfied with your work as he pours the batter into a cake pan.

“ill take care of putting it in the oven”

“wow how cool” (kugi)

“leave me alone!” (ita)

you watch him carry the tray to the oven. as always, energetic, to the point of being infectious. and for the first time this mission, you dont feel out of place.

while the cake is baking, you return to yujis dorm, trying to get comfortable on his bed.

the smell of the cake from the kitchen started to fill the air, making you aware of how hungry you are. though you would never admit it. yuji seems determined to make this a fun night for you, talking non-stop and constantly glacing over at you.

eventually, the timer goes off, and yuji jumps excitedly. “its ready!”

you watch as he pulls the cake out of the oven, setting it on the counter, its slightly burnt. yuji still beams. “look! perfect cake!”

while the cake cools, everyone makes their way to yujis dorm again, and you find yourself going back into your previous spot on the bed. the room quiets a little as you all start to settle in for the movie.

yujis the first to sit down, he looks over at you.

“feeling alright, zenin?” he asks.

you give him a small nod. “yes”

yuji smiles at you, looking relieved. youre not sure if hes worried about you or if hes just glad youre finally starting to enjoy yourself.

the cake is brought out, and everyone takes a piece. youve never had a cake that wasnt made from scratch before, it tastes burnt, it is burnt. its not horrible. its fine.

as you eat around the extra sweet icing, yuji and nobara banter about the movie, with megumi occasionally glancing up from his phone to join on the conversation. although it was obvious he wasnt paying attention to his phone.

eventually, the cake is gone, and the movie continues.

youre starting to feel more comfortable, though you cant quite shake the feeling that youre not quite like the others.

as the movie reaches the climax, your eyelids start to feel heavy. you find yourself leaning against someones shoulder.

not by choice, youre just too tired to move your head, so its not your fault.

however, your thoughts were far from relaxed. you had one mission, and you had been preparing for it. this is the perfect moment. your target, itadori yuji, had been sitting perfectly still next to you, probably none the wiser.

finish the mission

you start to wake yourself up, enough to pour yuji a drink. “are you thirsty, itadori?”

poison his drink and wait for him to fall asleep. it would be quick, and you would be gone from the campus before you were suspected.

yujis eyes bright turned toward you, and he flashed a smile. “yeah, can you get me a cola?”

you hum in a response.

you handed him the glass with a steady hand, your cursed poison infused into the cola, and watched as he took a sip.

you were confident in your preparation, poison would take effect in just a few minutes.

as yuji drank the cola, you kept an eye on him, but your attention was drawn briefly to nobara and megumi on the futon.

“zenins acting weird, right?” nobara asked megumi in a whisper tone, though you could still hear her clearly.

“shes just being herself, probably tired.”

nobara wasnt convinced, but she didnt press the issue. “i dunno, megumi.”

you returned your attention to yuji, but something felt off. he was still drinking the cola, completely oblivious to your intentions.

his eyes didnt seem heavy, and his usual energy didnt change.

“is that normal cola?” yuji asked.

your heart skipped a beat. “what are you talking about?”

“tastes different from the ones i normally drink, and youve been staring at me like you wanted me to say something about it.”

you were silent for a moment, trying to cover up your surprise. “i-. i wasnt staring at you.”

yuji just smiled, like always. “im feeling a little sleepy. i guess im just not used to the sugar in the drink.”

you blinked, confused. you had planned fkr him to fall asleep quickly after drinking the cola, but nothing was happening.

“thats weird” you thjnk to yourself, but yuji didnt seem to notice, he casually leans back against the bed frame and stretches.

“guess im just more tired tonight” he was shushed by nobara, trying to watch the movie.

you kept your eyes on him, your mind racing. how could he not be affected by the poison?

you had made sure it was potent enough. your focus was slipping.

you tried to mask your disappointment, but it was clear from your silence that your plan had failed.

of course sukunas vessel, a finger eater, would be atleast slightly immune to your poison, though, you put a higher than average amount of poison.

meanwhile, yuji didnt seem to notice the interenal turmoil you were going through. he let out another yawn, clearly starting to feel drowsy, and its most likely from the time.

“you alright?” yuji mumbled as he shifted, pulling you against his shoulder. “you look like you could use some sleep, too.”

his warmth against you caused a stange feeling within you, but you didnt say anything. instead, you stayed still, letting yourself rest against him.

yujis body was still, his breath deepening as he slowly fell asleep. his arm shifted slightly, now draped across the top of the bed frame, and without thinking, you leaned into him. the warmth of his body, the soft rhythm of his breath, were all incredibly soothing, despite everything that had just occurred.

the room had grown quieter, and before long, your exhaustion began to take hold. you had failed your mission, and yet, you found yourself in a strange sense of peace you hadnt expected. you still had two months to complete your mission, resting wouldnt hurt.

in the background, nobara and megumi were still chatting quietly, but nobara was the first to notice the position the two of you were in. she looked over at megumi, a knowing grin on her face.

“looks like theyre asleep.”

megumi, who had been keeping an eye on the scene, just nodded and shrugged. “whatever.”

nobaga, on the other hand, couldnt help but find the situation amusing. “guess this is how its gonna be”

and so, as the night wore on, yuji slept peacefully on the couch, with you curled up beside him. neither of you noticed the subtle shift in your relationship that had just begun to form, but nobara and megumi did, and they would have a lot to say about it in the morning.

the movie had long since ended, and the only sound in the room now was the soft hum of the air conditioning.

now, yujis body had shifted, his arm draped across your back, and you subconsciously leaned into him, drifting off the sleep.

your head, by accident or not, found its way onto his bicep. the muscle of his arm beneath your head was strangely comforting. his breath slowed. and you couldnt bring yourself to pull away.

“i guess thats one way to fall asleep, huh?” nobara whispered, raising an euebrow.

megumk gave a shrug in response. “why do you care so much.”

nobara, however, couldnt contain her amusement. she walked closer, glancing down at the both of you, watching as you both slept.

you didnt stir, not even as mobara leaned in closer, carefully adjusting your positions so that you both remained cozy.

yuji, still in his deep sleep, barely moved, his face soft as he rested against his pillow, with your body nestled into his side.

nobara smirked to herself before stepping back and taking a picture, her quiet laugh echoing through the room as she whispered, “theyre gonna kill me.”

with that, she let you both sleep in peace, the soft light of the tv casting shadows across your intertwined bodies.

you werent sure why you cared so much.

yuji had plenty of people celebrating his birthday. nobara had planned something chaotic like smashing his head into the cake (how rude!), megumi was reluctantly going along with gojos idea to suprise him. yuji had all the attention in the world by people who openly cared about him, people who didnt hesitate to tell him how much he meant to them.

and yet there you stood by his desk before class, a small gift and your hands, hesitating.

you knew yuji wasnt the type to expect extravagant gifts, but that only made it harder. you had but more thought into this than you care to admit, a keychain from the movie he loves and a simple note you debated writing at least 10 times before settling on just ‘happy birthday, itadori!’ with small doodles scattered.

it was casual, but your hands still felt a little clammy as you set it down.

you then turned quickly, slipping back to your seat before anyone else arrived, heart thudding against your ribs.

maybe he wouldnt even realize it was from you. that would be best actually.

you dont like standing out, you never had the confidence nobara did, nor the charm gojo has. you were quiet. comfortable with just being there. it wasnt that yuji ever overlooked you— he was too kind for that—but you were sure you didnt stand out to him in any significant way.

you told yourself that “he wouldnt care” and that “you just want to see him smile.” that part true although you hoped that yuji would care.

yuji walked in with megumi and nobara trailed behind, his gaze looked at the small package on the desk, head tilting before grabbing it. “oh yn! you got me something?”

you held your breath, trying to distract yourself by glancing anywhere else, but your heart wouldn’t stop racing.

“can i open it?”

you mumbled a yes.

yuji unwrapped the gift quickly, his usual energetic self. he pulled out the keychain first, his eyes lighting up with a spark of recognition.

you couldn’t help but feel a small flutter of hope. But as he continued to inspect it, his expression shifted slightly. he looked up at you, a small frown tugging at his lips.

“hey, this is cool,” yuji said, his voice friendly, but there was something almost apologetic about his tone.

“i didn’t expect a keychain, but it’s really thoughtful. I guess I thought maybe something bigger, you know? maybe that what i get for opening megumis and gojo sensei gift first”

he scratched the back of his head sheepishly, trying to explain himself before getting slapped by nobara.

“why are city people so ungrateful! i think its cute yn!” nobara says.

“i didnt mean it like that it just came out wrong! im just really bad at accepting gifts, i feel like i dont deserve them” yuji says.

“when youre bad at accepting gifts, you dont say ‘i thought it would be bigger meh meh meh’ you say ‘thanks!’” nobara defends you.

“im sorry! i didnt mean to be ungrateful yn!!” yuji pleas.

“i didn’t mean to disappoint you,” you stammered, not sure if your voice was even steady enough to be heard.

you wished you could melt into the floor and disappear. yuji glanced up, his eyes softening when he realized how nervous you were.

“it just came out wrong! its really cute, yn.” yuji apologized repeatedly, though it didn’t do much to ease your anxiety.

when class ended, you slowly packed out while the other 1st years quickly departures to the field.

yuji stayed behind slightly, having to clip the keychain onto the strap of his bag.

he gave you a quick look before saying “thanks for the gift, anyways i have to catch up with them. see you later yn!”

you saw him turn and leave, and it felt depressing. the thoughtful gift you had chosen, a small sign of your feelings, was received with a lack of indifference.

you couldnt understand why it stung so deeply. its not like you thought he would be head over heels for the present—it was merely a birthday gesture—but the sense of disappointment lingered around you.

you told yourself that it didnt matter. that yuji was a good person and probably didn’t mean to make you feel this way. but the quiet ache inside you wouldnt go away.

later that evening in bed you think about every second, the silence in the room interrupted by the clicking of a clock.

you repeat the events today in your head over and over, it wasnt that yuji meant to hurt you, you know he didnt. but something about the way he reacted hurt you emotionally.

you had hoped he would see it for what it was—a small gesture of appreciation, a way of showing that you cared. although being compared to gojos gift he was indifferent.

you clenched the blanket in your hands, the weight of the disappointment settling heavy in your chest.

you stared at the dark ceiling, feeling the weight of the unspoken words between you. you had tried so hard to show him you cared, and yet, it felt like you were invisible.

you arrived at jujutsu tech in early february, it gives you about 4 months to plan an assassination of sukunas vessel, a first year student named yuuji itadori.

your tactical boots specialized in traction and protection crunch the winter leaves below you. its just about 6am, you woke up early today.

you plan out the killing in your head. come to think about it 4 months is a lot isnt it? you typically like making it quick and simple, although you have little experience in actual killing people.

perhaps bidding your time would be the best option. jujutsu tech is filled with many powerful individuals who would most likely kill her if they knew her intentions. your biggest fear is the 10 shadows user, he appears to have the closest relationship to sukunas vessel.

at around 7am she arrived outside the classroom, where gojo sensei would be waiting to introduce her to the measly 3 first year students inside.

“everybody!” gojo shouts at a volume way too loud for 7 in the morning. “we have a new student! give her a round of applause!”

sukunas vessel and kugisaki clap lamely while fushiguro makes no attempt to indulge in gojos acts.

you enter the classroom and bow slightly before walking to the single empty desk. “thats yn zenin! which puts the first year class at 4 students! hooray!” gojo shouts.

you have no intention on talking to the other students, or anyone for that matter. while gojo talks about paired missions all you can do is fight the urge to fall asleep, maybe waking up early was a bad idea.

“ok! we have an even number of students sooo…! were gonna do paired missions! nobara and megumiii in one pair and ill supervise yuji and yn!”

is gojo ever quiet.

oh, me and sukunas vessel?

thats good. i could probably kill him easily. what about the veil though? i surely wouldnt be let out if gojo is supervising.

well its still good to figure out some information about sukunas vessel.

you enter the car driven by gojo, the mission you were assigned to is a grade 2 curse in an abandoned hospital about 45 minutes away. you stare out the window on to the dense forest near the road.

the car stops before gojo tells you and sukunas vessel to get out of the car. you stretch slightly when getting out due to sitting for too long before starting to walk to the mission site.

gojo lowers his veil trapping you and sukunas vessel, hopefully he doesnt like. kill you or smth.

you walk around looking for a 2nd grade curse, checking the patients rooms, waiting room, the roof. although you just cant put your finger on where it is.

while youre looking, sukunas vessel keeps blabbering on and on, to the point where youre starting to tune him out.

he taps your shoulder which throws you off guard, causing you to step back away from him quickly.

“just trying to ask a question” sukunas vessel says.

i thought he was gonna kill me. he couldve just now.

“what.”

“why did you become of a sorcerer?”

theres a brief silence before you say. “its none of your business”

“thats fine, you remind me of fushiguro in a way! youre both very grumpy you know?”

after about a couple minutes of fighting with the curse you end up surviving the mission relatively unharmed, sukunas vessel took most of your heavy hits for you.

you and sukunas vessel end up both going to ms leiri for her expertise in reverse cursed technique. not that you needed it, you just tagged along.

you tagged along because you had to. not because you wanted to.

you, the other 2 firsts years, and sukunas vessel get treated to. revolver sushi. or something similar to that. you expected this is be a gun shop or maybe the name of a brand, not a type of restaurant.

“what you and kugisaki never been to a revolving sushi place? you have to go its so cool! its for the experience!” (ita)

“they dont have those where i grew up. revolving sushi is cheap isnt it? lets go somewhere expensive since gojo sensei is paying” (kugi)

“but i want it! its not about how expensive it is, its about the experience!” (ita)

“you say that until you get food poisoning.” (kugi)

“you agree with me, right zenin!??” (ita)

you shake your head in disagreement.

“see i told you! zenin agreed, were gonna get steak!” (kugi)

“when did zenin agree to get steak” (fushi)

the jungle night was cold and silent, the damp air clinging to every branch. you perched high in the trees, watching the faint outlines of leaves sway in the darkness. it was peaceful—until you heard a soft voice below.

"cold… so cold…"

you looked down to see yuji, a small falconet on a lower branch, his small body curled up tight. his tiny wings weren't enough to keep the chill away, and he was shivering. you sighed. he was hopeless in weather like this.

silently, you spread your wings and glided down to him. landing softly on his branch without making a sound, you folded your wings neatly before looking at him.

"[l/n]?" he asked, teeth chattering. "what are you—"

before he could finish, you draped one of your larger wings over him, wrapping it around his trembling form. his eyes widened, and he blinked up at you, surprised by the sudden warmth.

"you'll freeze if you stay like that, idiot." you said bluntly, looking away as if it wasn't a big deal.

yuji stared at you for a moment before a wide grin spread across his face. "you're so nice, [l/n]. i didn't think—"

"shut up," you interrupted, your voice sharp, but the faint pink blush on your face betrayed you.

he laughed softly and leaned closer, his shivering slowly fading. his small frame fit neatly under your wing, and he rested his head against your side. "i knew you had a soft side." he murmured, sleep already pulling at his voice.

you rolled your eyes but didn't push him away. "and you're annoying," you muttered under your breath, though the faintest smile tugged at your lips as he drifted off.

who could blame you? yuji was just too cute, especially with his relaxed expression pressed against your feathers like this.
