Where Every Scroll is a New Adventure
Okay, I want to predict the outcome for Spy x Family chapter 72 rn before it comes out, and I'm writing it here so that, if it happens, I can come back to this and pat myself on the back for being right.
So if anyone's interested, this is what I think will (or at least, should) happen:
The bus comes to a stop with all the police officers surrounding it. Cursing for being caught, the guy tells the kids to all stay put if they want to live, then grabs Anya and Damian and brings them out of the bus.
He tells the officers that he has bombs strapped to their necks (both the son of the wealthy and high profile Desmond family and the girl who just happened to piss him off) and that he won't hesitate to set them off.
The officers lay down their weapons, seeing as they have no other choice. Anya, being the little gremlin she is, yells out that the bombs are fake. Aka, pick up the guns again and save them.
Damian and the guy are equally appalled that Anya would be stupid enough to say that and also how does she even know that??
As the police question whether or not that's true, the man grabs Anya and puts a gun to her head, saying something like "I don't know how you learned the bomb was fake, but this gun is very real." Or something to that extent.
Damian (bless his soul) probably tries to help her, but is ultimately smacked away like the loaf of bread he is.
The police, now again concerned with the turn of events, put their guns down for the second time.
The man smirks and begins to list off what he wants the cops to do if they want the kids to live when something smacks him in the head. (Idk what it would be. A rock, a shoe? Just something.)
He looks up to see a hooded figure standing on top of the bus. "Step away from the girl." He says as he points a very large gun at the man.
"Who the hell are you?" The man responds.
"Someone who doesn't like repeating orders a second time." The gun is cocked. "Now step away from her."
Anya (bless her soul as well) thinks that she should do something to help. After all, that's what Bondman would do. So, like the gremlin she is, she comes up with the most gremlin-like plan she can and bites him. Hard. Just fully chomps down on the man's fingers.
Cursing, he let's go of her in surprise. Damain quickly grabs her hand and yanks her away as the hooded figure jumps on top of him and knocks the gun out of his hand.
The police are understandably confused, but rush to stop the bus driver who attempts to make a run for it when his ally is taken down.
Now that they're apprehended, Anya tries to figure out who the hooded figure is. Was it Papa?
She reads his mind and hears this:
"I may hate Loi-Loi will all my guts and he may never be a deserving husband to someone as great as Yor, but I know she would be devastated if anything happened to her chihuahua girl."
Anya smiles, realizing that the man who came to her rescue was her uncle Yuri. She knows that he is technically her papa's enemy (and possibly her mama's too, even if he doesn't know) but he's still a good guy.
Cue Yuri noticing the look and saying something like,
"What the hell are you smiling for??"
But Anya just says something like
"Thank you mystery man! You saved Syon-boy and I from being dead."
He stiffens a little, surprised at the praise and his relief about her safety.
"You're welcome." He says.
Then we cut to the next scene.
Loid is standing in his doorway, fear and absolute shock in his expression.
"She... What?"
The officers then explain to him (for the second time) what events transpired that day.
He looks down as Yor (in tears) crushes Anya (literally crushes) in a hug, saying how she was so sorry she had to go through that and was so relieved that she was okay.
Loid is furious. Furious at the men who threatened his daughter, but more importantly, furious at the agency for not telling him what was going on. He knew they knew about it.
Unable to even look at Anya, he pushes past the cops and sprints his way all the way down to the agency. He isn't careful to be unseen. He isn't paying attention to any of his lessons and basic techniques of being a spy. His daughter almost died today. That's the only thing that matters to him right now.
He kicks down the door, to which the woman starts her whole "Good day, or rather, good evening" spiel that Loid promptly interrupts.
"You knew." He accuses, "You knew and you didn't tell me."
The woman tells him her reasoning. (He was too far away, there was no point in needlessly worrying him when he couldn't do anything, etc.)
He erupts, yelling at them that he didn't care if he was in the middle of another mission, they should've told him! She's his daughter! He should know if she's ever in danger!
"She's not really your daughter," comes the reply.
A moment of silence.
Silence as he realizes the statement is true and wrong at the same time. Not his biological daughter, sure, but she was still his. She was important.
"What about Operation Strix?" He tries to rationalize (for the sake of his protectiveness toward Anya and to prove that the agency should care about her too)
The agency tells him they have other means of getting close to the Desmonds, whether through Yor's new friendship or through another "backup" plan they had in motion. They imply that Anya is expendable. They say that the mission is more important. They say if it came to saving Anya or keeping the mission intact, they wouldn't hesitate to let her die. For the greater good, of course.
After a moment of Lord's silence, she even goes so far as to say Anya's death could've possibly been proven useful, as the mourning could've gotten Yor closer to Melinda-
A crash.
The woman looks up to see Loid leaving the room, the table by which he'd been standing now snapped in half.
Loid walks back home, contemplating her words. Was Anya really expendable in regards to the mission? Trying to keep his thoughts rational, he plays out how her death would affect it. He sees there are some pros (strictly regarding the goals of the mission) but he shuts those thoughts down immediately.
Why had he been so scared today? If she was truly expendable, why had his heart dropped out of his chest when he'd heard she'd come so close to death?
It didn't make sense, not really.
But when he entered the apartment and saw Yor and Anya still on the floor, still hugging, he realized it did.
Because Anya may be considered expendable for the mission. A pawn in a much larger game of chess.
He falls to the floor and wraps both Yor and Anya in a tight hug, saying nothing.
But she was not expendable to him.
Bonus scene at the end:
Yuri's superior officer knocks at his door. Yuri lets him in.
"Thought you'd like to know, that girl, Anna was it? She's alright. The police handled it."
Yuri, already well aware that Anya is fine and that the police most certainly did not handle it, just nods.
"Thank you for telling me sir."
He just nods.
"However, it seems we have a new problem. You see, witnesses reported seeing a mysterious masked figure helping the police catch the guy. I want you to ID him so we can bring him in for questioning and see if he's an enemy."
The officer is so distracted by his determination to find out about this masked menace, he doesn't notice Yuri is standing very nervously behind him. Sweating bullets.
So Anya took Melinda's attitude towards her son as "she didn't want to take care of him because weak and weepy"
While in reality Melinda's attitude towards her son is complex emotions regarding the fact that her son is also her husband's son aswell.

Imagination
loid was so expressive in his two panels
I get Demetrius Desmond; when I was his age I was also sleep deprived, lonely, an awkward mess, "no thoughts, head empty" kind of person that didn't like to be around children.
(Albeit, my parents were WAY better than his)
Latest sxf chapters are unhinged. We go from silliest cartoon chase to going to movies with besties 💅 to psychological horror
... but the reality is (in the Spy x Family universe) is that the war didn't just affect Twilight and Yor, it affected a whole lot of other people. The war stole a lot from them; livelihood, wealth, families, and the possibility for a future happiness.
And because Twilight and Yor hated so much what happened to them, they don't want another person to go through what they did. Preserving the peaceful lives of other people is what motivates them to be the best person in their respective jobs.
He might have had some flashbacks
Also Martha - Becky - Henderson are kinda my second favorite trio
I was scrolling my gallery and found this piece of art. I'm laughing crying
This is how it went in manga, right?
So I've been collecting songs for my spy x family playlist for a month now. And since today we don't have new chapter I will rant about some of this songs here
1. Foo Fighters - Waiting on a war
This song right here describes all spy x family setting and Twilights story. Because peace between Ostania and Westalis is shaky and nobody can actually guarantee that it will last. And while civilians may live more or less peacefully, Twilight is always waiting on the war. But he knows that there's something more than that in life and with Forgers he has chance to have it
2. Hozier - Like real people do
I just needed Hozier song, because TwiYor have very Hozier romance. "I will not ask you where you came from" - is pretty much current state of Twilight's relationships with Yor and Anya. He knows they are odd but he will not ask them in fear of finding out. And both Twilight and Yor feel more like tools than actual people, but since they started Forger family they learn more about what "real people do"
3. Tember Blanche & Moisei - Ти лиш людина
This one's in my mother tongue (Ukrainian). For me it perfectly captures the feeling of the 86 chapter.
Chorus translation:
Show me your weakness, I don't ask you anything more.
If you are only human, then how can you live without fear?
Let's just say I can't wait fo Wheeler arc to be animated, because I have a vision for a really cool amv
4. Rainbow Kitten Surprise - Cold love
This one hard to describe. It has post reveal and opening up to each other vibes. It also has first joined mission gone wrong vibes. But most of all it has we are the same and we understand each other vibes. (Maybe I'll write songfic based on this. When I learn how to write hehe)
5. Rina Sawayama - Chosen family
Just a sweet song about opening up and found/chosen family. Very Forgers)
PS: I really need good songs for Anya and Yor. Especially Yor, since most of her playlists have femme fatale vibes, that don't suite her character.
If you have any recommendations PLEASE leave them in comments
They are so dramatic, I can't
Also Martha and Hendrerson actually danced!!! Now I can live happily!!
Kinda wish there would be more Twilight and Anya in this chapter but it's okay, I believe we will get it soon
I feel like they would be friends
Yeah, first graders flirting game is fun. But I'm much more interested in those two having enough relationship history to be like "Oh, I forgot to thank you for your help. Mind helping again?"
Also "Isn't it just like you"... They are my brotp, I can't
If I had to choose my favorite character from spy x family it would be this guy
1. He has funny and chill uncle energy
2. He's so underrated it's painful. He doesn't even have a name or codename(
3. He clearly worked in WISE for a long time, but still is impulsive as hell
4. He asked Twilight for a fuckin drink after Wheeler ark (the most dangerous mission they all had since the beginning of Operation Strix)
(Also am I the only one who sees the uncle teasing his angsty nephew about his first crush? No one else? Alright)
His comment about marital problems makes me think he had a family at some point and understands Twilight's inner conflict
Like here he clearly was both serious and teasing about tearful reunion. He suggested it seriously, because he understands that Twilight wants it deep down (He even calls Anya his girl). But he also teases the hell outta Loid for being in denial
5. He's the only agent that isn't afraid of Handler. He's even confident enough to argue with her and scold her in front of other agents. And honestly I feel like Silvia holds a lot of respect for him despite those arguments. It would be very interesting to know their history (not like we gonna have it in canon, they are too minor characters)
6. He seems to have this relaxed kind of wisdom that balances with his impulsive reactions
Thanks for listening to my TED talk
Hi. Not to be depressing on this tag especially just after New Year. But I was reminded of something that bothered me in 35 ch. Spy x Family
WHY THE HELL would you sleep under windows if there's a big possibility of air raid or bombing?
Here's piece of information I hope yall will never have to use:
Taping your windows isn't 100% guarantee!!
It does help with some light shards or not really strong shok wave. But if it's something more serious the glass will break. The tape helps to make less pieces of glass and make them bigger, but you also have to tape frame of the window for the effect, otherwise it's no use.
If you know for sure that will be bombing DON'T sleep under window. There's no guarantee that window or even wall will survive. You want to have at least 2 walls between you and the street, so if outer wall breaks, inner wall would protect you. If you can't go to shelter you need to go to some hallway or bathroom (any inner room really).
Sorry for rant. Have a nice day guys
Bitches be like:
Few hours later: Me and my fake daughter 🥰

In light of the current arc, I offer my version of this meme for SxF.
I hope you like reading because this is going to be a long one, I'm sorry. But I'm hoping to hear your ideas about these.
The Desmonds, aside Damian, are definitely weird, but I think there’s a high chance that Demetrius, alongside Melinda, was brainwashed and their minds are manipulated.
Demetrius seems to have empty thoughts aside from his constant belief that he doesn’t understand anyone, not even his brother and his father, despite spending a lot of time with him, as Damian stated. I think these thoughts have been instilled in him through brainwashing and mind manipulation.
That's likely the reason why Donovan spent a lot of time watching Demetrius when he was a child, forcing these ideas upon him since childhood.
This is the same idea he shared with Loid when they first met, that humans will never truly be sympathetic to each other because, at the end of the day, we are strangers, even to those who are our blood and flesh.
Melinda is the same too. Based on what we’ve seen of her so far, she seems to have conflicted feelings about Damian.
However, I think she was genuinely concerned for her son, but her husband is trying to instill those dreadful ideas onto her. (It might not be Donovan who was doing the mind manipulation, but based on the stitches on his head, there’s a possibility that he had been experimented on and had gained a mind ability somehow.)
I think that’s why she’s scared of Donovan knowing that she came for Damian at that school bus incident. Donovan doesn’t want her to care for anyone, not even their own sons (These poor kids).
But I believe she truly wants to be a good mother, and she wants Damian to break the cycle going on in their family. (If she didn’t care, she wouldn’t race through Eden just to check on Damian’s safety at the bus arc.) And I think that’s the reason why she wanted Damian and Anya to be close, for Damian to have someone that would make him break out of the expectations he had set for himself and be finally free to be a child since it’s what her son deserved. (But still, this theory of mine still doesn’t make her not suspicious to me; right now, all I’m giving these newly introduced characters is the benefit of the doubt)
Why does Donovan want to instill these ideas that humans can’t truly understand each other, not even those who are family? Because that’s the reason wars happen—people not trying to understand one another. It occurs when they don’t strive to meet in the middle. Assuming he does indeed plan to wage war against Westalis, then instilling that idea would benefit him.
Of course, it’s hard to instill the same idea in every citizen in Ostania, especially when the current government is trying to establish a diplomatic relationship with Westalis. So, how could he encourage these ideas? Where are ideas usually taught? What establishment is so respected that these ideas would be very much welcomed and widely taught in a subtle manner, making individuals unaware that they are being influenced? Oh, right—educational establishments, schools, and universities. And which is the most prestigious school in Ostania that could assist in achieving this and influence the children of Ostania to acquire nationalistic ideas so that, in the future, they would carry these ideas for the sake of Ostania? Eden Academy.
This is where the hidden agenda of the Imperial Scholars, I think, plays out. Kids like Demetrius, I believe, are being brainwashed to adopt the same thoughts and ideas as Donovan. Children are the most vulnerable to manipulation, absorbing ideas like a sponge. That's my guess about what’s going on with these Imperial Scholars in Eden.
Why do you think they choose the cream of the crop among these students? The geniuses—won’t they be useful in terms of war? The other talented and athletic students could boost Ostania’s economy, and when they become famous celebrities, they could be influencers, shaping public opinion in line with the ideas they hold. The heroic and helpful ones could also be valuable in times of war, willingly risking their lives for Ostania.
When I was a Humanities student in my senior year of high school, I remembered studying a case in my country where athletes and geniuses were brainwashed by rebel groups into supporting their ideals regarding the government. In the end, these students did join those rebel groups, believing they were doing the right thing. They left their families, not even caring about their feelings, because they firmly believed that what they were doing needed to be done. They were first introduced into these societies or clubs, usually inviting geniuses and, take note, scholars. As they associated more with these clubs or organizations, they became more and more exposed and influenced. I can’t help but think that this could also be true in Eden Academy. I think this could be confirmed or debunked once we meet more Imperial Scholars or former Imperial Scholars and have their minds read by Anya. So for now, this is purely my speculation. But I'd like to know your ideas about it.
Operation Strix, I'd say, challenges Desmond’s ideas about people not understanding one another. Remember, Twilight’s goal was not to assassinate him; it was for him to determine if Desmond was engaged in any suspicious activities that might lead to war between East and West and to prevent it from happening. I think, in a way, Operation Strix could really achieve that because at its very core, it disproves Donovan’s ideas about people. These three individuals bound by Operation Strix, who barely knew each other and hadn't even spent a year together, have a lot of secrets and differences in terms of nationality, behavior, upbringing, and ideals. Yet, they managed to live peacefully as a family. They may not understand each other completely, but that doesn’t stop them from trying.
Twilight, despite Anya being a stranger to him, strives to always humor her no matter how weird her statements are. Even though he couldn’t fully understand her, he wanted to and he always tries to, because he’s not just a spy; he’s a parent, her father. That’s what parents and families do—they always try to understand one another. This connects back to the inside cover theory I talked about before, regarding the Forger family understanding one another.
It was fascinating to see how the Desmonds and the Forgers are alike in terms of being not a normal family but very different, especially in how they treat each other. I would love it if Donovan, as a character, symbolizes the idea of war, while Twilight and the family he built for his mission are a symbol of peace, proving it to be possible despite all differences.
What do you think about this?
They're waiting for their mamas to come
Based on this scene of the manga:
Everyone, clap for this masterpiece!
Sayonara ~
Anya learned to solve her problems like her mother and I will not discuss this with anyone.
Some happy family time 🫶
