While in reality Melinda's attitude towards her son is complex emotions regarding the fact that her son is also her husband's son aswell.

*MANGA SPOILERS AHEAD*

Many have often noted that Damian’s intuitions about Anya and her family are often correct, even when they appear to be a six year old’s whimsical thoughts like Anya being able to read minds and whether her parents are assassins.

But not only that, he clearly knows Anya better than she knows herself. In the chapter where Anya receives her second Tontritus Bolt covering for Damian, the little boy imagined what Becky and Anya would say to him if he let Ewen get a Bolt in his stead. In his mind, Anya would call him a lot of mean names related to butts and snot. Anya meanwhile thinks she would never say such things to/ about Damian…

… and yet. When Anya imagines how she would defend Damian from being expelled due to her shenanigans, her plan involved calling Damian a piece of crap.

Damian is right about Anya. Of course she would call him butthead and snot-nosed jerk. Because she has the taunt vocabulary of a four year old, and because she’s one of the two kids at Eden - Becky being the other - who absolutely do not care that he’s the Second Son of Donavan Desmond, and just happily throw silly insults at him.

Damian knows Anya, because the little boy has obviously been watching her closely. For very important reasons that have nothing to do with whatever he feels for her - wait! he feels nothing for her!… But Damian also knows Anya and her personality and quirks because those are the traits he likes about her. She sees him as a butthead, a snot-nosed jerk, a piece of crap etc. and not just as the scion of the Desmond family, even as she calls him Second Son. She would always be brutally honest with him when he’s being a jerk because she is kind, and actually looks out for her friends. She makes him want to become a better version of himself, and not an obnoxious version of Donovan Desmond’s second son.

And so, as much as Anya can read everything running through Damian’s head, he is the one who knows her, and not the other way round. And that’s very sweet.

If I had to choose my favorite character from spy x family it would be this guy

1. He has funny and chill uncle energy

2. He's so underrated it's painful. He doesn't even have a name or codename(

3. He clearly worked in WISE for a long time, but still is impulsive as hell

4. He asked Twilight for a fuckin drink after Wheeler ark (the most dangerous mission they all had since the beginning of Operation Strix)

(Also am I the only one who sees the uncle teasing his angsty nephew about his first crush? No one else? Alright)

His comment about marital problems makes me think he had a family at some point and understands Twilight's inner conflict

Like here he clearly was both serious and teasing about tearful reunion. He suggested it seriously, because he understands that Twilight wants it deep down (He even calls Anya his girl). But he also teases the hell outta Loid for being in denial

5. He's the only agent that isn't afraid of Handler. He's even confident enough to argue with her and scold her in front of other agents. And honestly I feel like Silvia holds a lot of respect for him despite those arguments. It would be very interesting to know their history (not like we gonna have it in canon, they are too minor characters)

6. He seems to have this relaxed kind of wisdom that balances with his impulsive reactions
