Got up early today, figured I'd post a doodle

I swear, whenever I draw the four guardians being cute I can't help but throw in Roll. I can see the vision though??? Like she would be the one that could help them get accustomed to the slower things in life. Show them the little things that help make a home so cozy, y'know?

Sometimes I wonder what the classic era robots would think of the Four Guardians. What would the guardians think of the Light numbers? Probably a mix of awe and confusion.

I was rushing with this one but I still think it turned out all right. I was really trying to make Opera look like the Four Guardians but I think somethings off.

Maybe it's the black? Or the pink? Should I use a different main color?

I'll probably do a redraw and shift her colors around. Omg what if Roll made her siblings and they're all the colors of the rainbow???

First time posting a Megaman oc? I decided to call her Opera.

No she's not from Battle Network I just took inspiration from Slur.

Initially I made Opera because I wanted to see Roll in the Zero series before immediately caving and coming up with an entire au where the guardians have cousins, because why not?

Why is roll Mercury's favorite?

Oh God, first time answering an ask, bear with me here.

To answer your question though, there are three main reasons. Primary being that Mercury loves getting free stuff and Roll loves giving gifts. It's kind of a shock when Roll gives him a gift, she's actually the first one to ever do that, since he's always so used to stealing from other people. Not only that, but it was a thoughtful one too, some flowers Roll noticed he liked and a couple of premium E-Tanks. Mercury wasn't used to that type of kindness and was drawn in fast.

He also just likes how chipper and empathetic she is, the stardroids are more accustomed to negativity so it's not something Mercury sees often. To him, it was refreshing to meet a genuinely good person that wants to help rather than hurt. Initially, he thought she was gullible and always tried to find ways to get a rise out of her. Unluckily for Mercury, Roll can also be a troll when she wants to be and gets back at him when he goes too far. Basically, Roll's fun to be around.

He's also kind of fascinated by Roll's kindness and positivity and deep down, he reallllly wants that for himself, but since those traits aren't physical he can't steal them away like he usually does. Mercury can mimic them, but he ultimately has to change and become more than what he was made for.

If you asked Mercury himself why he likes Roll so much he'd probably tell you the first reason I mentioned like: "She gives me free stuff." While he does mean that, I think subconsciously, he holds a deep appreciation for Roll that he either isn't aware of, or doesn't acknowledge verbally.

The promised art I mentioned in the last post, both were surprisingly fun to draw.

I know I gave Roll platinum blonde hair but I honestly think I could've gotten away with giving her regular hair color. I still like Roll as the goat because I see her as more aggressive than Rock, even if that isn't true most of the time. I just wanna give her huge weapons, she deserves it. As a treat y'know?

Regardless, this was a nice fit, Roll has always been associated with warmer colors and Rock with cooler ones, her hair was also just more convenient. The main reason I drew Rock as the Lamb in the first place was because the Lamb had the main character status and is generally considered to be more mild compared to the Goat which I thought suited Rock better. This way does give Roll more rep as the main character tho, and Rock can finally get the chance to be a littol sheet, so huzzah.

If Rock and Roll are in the place of the Goat and the Lamb then they should have some followers too right?

I think the robot masters could fill in the role of the followers, with the first gen robot masters following Rock and the Megaman 9 robot masters following Roll. Time and Oil man are finicky though, since they weren't introduced in the original game, so I'm unsure which one they should follow. It'll probably come down to colors at the end of the day so Timeman follows Rock and Oilman follows Roll, but since both cults work so closely it shouldn't really matter. Aside from those two, the rest of the many robot masters can follow either or some may not even join either cult at all. Prime example being Cossack's line of robots.

This brings up the idea of there being two cults. I haven't played the game so I can't say for sure what the Goat's deal is, but for this au in particular, Rock and Roll are in charge of separate cults that work closely with one another. I'm also making a change and not have Rock and Roll be related in any way. They still treat each other as siblings, but in more of a found family kind of way.

I think at some point in their past, Rock and Roll knew each other and were pretty good friends before both were sent off to be killed. They were killed in separate places but met death at the same time. I wonder if they both have some sort of link because of that or if they somehow just knew the other was alive and sought out to look for them.

If the duo are the playable characters then who should be The One Who Waits?

My first thought was Protoman, he's got the second identity thing going on, but Bass or Zero are also on the table. I'll have to think about that later, maybe draw some doodles.

Something a little different

Cult of the Lamb has been peaking my interest lately and wanted to shove my favorite brother sister duo into it.

I wanted to draw Rock and Roll as the Lamb and the Goat respectively, but their regular hair colors just looked off so I left them with white and gray hair.

Also, yes I did chop off a lot of Roll's hair, what of it?

I think at some point I'll swap them so that Rock has his regular hair color and Roll has her blonde hair back. Of course it'll be like a platinum blonde but whatever.

God I haven't been able to draw anything these past few months, life keeps uppercutting me with reality checks left and right. Glad I'm able to doodle more player 2 au.

Nothing too special, honestly it's just more redraws of X and Zero but with Rock and Roll in their place.

The more and more I draw, the more I can't help but imagine this story and what this version of Megaman and Roll can do.

Funny Megaman au thought time.

After Wily gets defeated for the first time and subsequently released from prison, Roll starts pranking him. Like she finds him, realizes he's gonna make his own robots, and decides to postpone his plans by being a little turd.

Wily has no knowledge of this and is freaking out over an unseen prankster that seems to have it out for him specifically.

Roll never does anything that causes physical harm, only minor inconveniences that leaves Wily confused and a little scared.

I think it'd be even funnier if Roll didn't tell Rock or Dr. Light, but the Robot Masters figure it out and agree to keep it on the down low if it means they can also prank Wily.

When I first brought up this au, I toyed with the idea that Zero was based on Roll and Protoman, I've been thinking about it a lot lately and drew up a few doodles of Roll using Zero's sprites as a reference. The irony isn't lost on me but I like em so much I just had to share.

If you're wondering why her skirt's missing, it's because Roll has her game face on in these doodles. The skirt is removable and in this au, Roll throws it off when she locks in. So far I haven't thought of when she does this, probably after Wily gets away one too many times or she's just had it with his schemes. Maybe it could be a callback to when Rock was contemplating killing Wily that one time? Only difference is putting Roll in Rock's place.

Idk some food for thought.

Anyways, I'll leave off with two photos the twins took while visiting their little brothers at work.

A friend of mine recommended that I practice backgrounds and I decided to try it out with a doodle from the last player 2 au post.

Not used to it at alllll. Still though, I think it came out alright.

It's Megaman's birthday today and y'know what I decided to do?

Make a post about my au about Roll. XD

Well, sort of.

Fr though, I really do love the Megaman franchise. It's one of the main reasons I draw today and want to get better at story telling. I honestly would've made a full drawing instead of a handful of doodles, but life gets busy and I need my sleep.

Anyways, last time I posted I showed you guys this design I came up with for Roll's armor.

This time though, I wanna talk a bit more about Rock's part in the au because despite what I say, he is still a main character in the au.

First I had to get a good grasp on who Rock is as a character before figuring out what he'd be like in the au. Canonically, he's a kind, courageous boy, with a strong sense for justice and is very polite towards others but is a little naive.

With that in mind I think he'd largely be the same in the au, only difference being he's more protective of Roll and does his best to be the responsible one. However being responsible does mean he's a rule follower, it makes Rock feel guilty.

Despite the new protective streak though, Rock definitely knows Roll's willingness to wreck Wily's newest machines like there's no tomorrow, which does worry him a bit, but he's very glad she's on his side.

This actually brings up a theme I want to incorporate: opposites complimenting each other.

Rock truly believes in Dr. Light's dream and wants it to become reality, on the flipside, Roll's more concerned with things happening in the moment. Rock absolutely hates fighting, Roll finds it fun. Rock is more quick to accept obstacles as they are, meanwhile Roll always looks for another way.

That last thing actually leads me to bringing up an old concept from an entirely different au. Because Roll always looks for another solution, what if she managed to befriend some of the bosses from some of the games?

Rock wants to stop fighting and actively tries to dissuade the robots he fights, but accepts it as inevitable because he doesn't see another option. Roll however is more empathic to other robots issues and unlike Rock is too stubborn to give up on finding a different way. Through her empathy, Roll may be able to dissuade robots from fighting by reaching out a helping hand.

Obviously, this doesn't work for every robot master, but it will work for some, and it's this that gives Rock hope throughout the many battles he and Roll find themselves in.

It's the main reason he keeps putting the armor back on when Wily comes back with another plot. As long as Rock has Roll to fight alongside, there will always be another way. Maybe one of those ways will lead to the peace they both want.

That's just Rock for now, there's still even more to think of. Like Protoman.

Much like Rock, Protoman is largely unchanged with the only difference being that he is more willing to show up and spend time with Rock and Roll in a mentor sort of role.

This is because with both of them in active fighting roles, they're gonna need some training. This happens after the twins beat Wily as a team for the first time, so before or after MM3. Blues helps Rock with aim and difficult jumps, while he helps Roll come up with new ways to use her broom. They all also do team exercises so they can fight more effectively, but they don't always accomplish their goals. Blues is a tough teacher and the twins ended up running back to Light Labs after one of them collapsed during training.

They were so freaked out after the first few times it happened. One time they both passed out during training, dw Blues carried them home as a good big brother should.

There's still more to think of with this au. I have a lot in mind, including merging this au with that Megaman X au I've been thinking about. Y'all will probably know which one it is, I have very few au's here.

Overall, Rock and Roll both want peace between humans and robots, they just have different mindsets that influence how they go about it individually. That's why I think it's so important that they fight together.

With that said enjoy this final doodle of Megaman and Sunstar. I like to think that Rock, with Roll and Rush's support, managed to find a way to save Sunstar in this au and the two became buddies.

Sunstar really likes his little friend, but not nearly as much as Mercury likes Roll

She's his favorite.

So I had an idea

To be completely honest, I mostly drew this as a treat for me. We don't see a lot of Roll outside of a cutscene or manning the shops and it just makes sense for her to be the player 2 in-game. Yeah we got Protoman and Bass, but c'mon!

I wanna see this lady charging in, full throttle, wooden chair in hand, and smack Wily's newest machine around like a piñata.

So yeah, player 2 au I guess? There's more info below the cut if you wanna read. Be warned, it's a long one.

First I had to ask myself why would Roll even want to fight when Rock does just fine on his own.

Roll's a coward canonically, but she also has a big heart and is willing to fight if she has to. Maybe after the first Megaman game, Rock came back far more damaged than Dr. Light expected. While this does convince him to build Rush, Roll also volunteers to join Rock in this fight.

Dr. Light was super hesitant, but Roll's reasoning was that if Wily was willing to kidnap the Light Numbers to one up Light, who knows what else he would do? Rock already had a hard time fighting them by himself and the Numbers weren't even built to fight. If Wily was smart enough to reprogram civil servant robots, why wouldn't he reprogram robots built to fight?

Eventually, Dr. Light relented and built Roll her own set of armor and a durable broom. She has a shorter attack range, but in exchange she deals way more damage. She doesn't have the copy chip Rock does, so her armor doesn't change color, but her broom does and can change shape/color depending on which weapon is equipped.

Now onto my thought process during the drawing.

When I was drawing the armor, I wanted to keep a couple things in mind. Specifically, what makes Roll so iconic by herself. She has her hair, the green bow, her dress, and her broom/cleaning products.

One other thing I kept in mind was the various depictions of Roll in combat armor. Many fans have made their own and they all look amazing, but I always thought Roll was more of a heavy hitter up close. Most equip Roll with a buster like Rock, which is a good direction to go in, but it wasn't what I wanted to do. Then I looked at Roll's"official" armors, specifically the armor she wore during the Upon a Star movie and the armor she dreamed of from Megaman 11.

I basically put a chest piece and shoulder armor over the Megaman 11 armor, I removed the buttons on it, both of them had a heart motif on the chest which I thought suited Roll very well so I added that. I also used her hat from the Megaman Fangame Perfect Blue. You may notice her arms don't have the bulky arm guards most robot masters have... Yeah, I have no excuse for that, but Splash Woman doesn't have the guards either sooooo.....happy accident?

I think the colors were the hardest part. I colored the dress to be more red with a pinker red for the heart and middle of the dress. Originally I had the skirt be a solid pink color and the rest of the armor be red and white, but it looked off to me. I knew I had to add her bow which meant adding green and I think that's what threw off the whole thing. The first draft only had a green bow, and I felt I had to add it somewhere else to make it look more appealing and I immediately went to color the buttons on the heart green. A small callback to Zero that doubles as a parallel.

That kinda makes me wonder if Zero was modeled after Roll and Protoman in this au. Also, what would the Megaman timeline even be like with Roll as a fighter alongside Rock? It's always better when someone has your back and Rock and Roll were always meant to be a pair.

They're twins in this au, not a couple. Just had to set the record straight.

Anyway, speaking of Blues. It makes sense why Protoman wouldn't show up as much in this context. Roll is right there, why would Rock need Protoman's help? I imagine he usually shows up only in situations where Rock and Roll are forcibly separated or shows up to both of them individually. Whether it's because he wants to help them be more independent or test the strength of their bond remains to be seen.

I have more to say about this au, I'll try drawing some expressions and go into more detail regarding Rock and Roll's personalities in the au.
