What about an Alternate Ending to pumpkin eater reader where Kuroo sees Y/n dating someone else months or a year later (maybe she can end up with one of the other Haikyuu characters or something?) Cause I don’t forgive cheaters 😤

Pumpkin Eater (Kuroo x Reader) ~Part 2~ Never Again

image

*GIF not mine*

Summary: Last night, your friend sent you pictures of Kuroo with some girl at a random club. Not only was he a liar, but he was also a cheater, and you couldn’t stand to be with him after this.

Part 1

Part 2 (Second Chance)

A/N: Uhhh, sooooo, ermmmm. Here you go…? I hope you like it…? Idk honestly. I mean, I totally agree with you on never forgiving a cheater, but also… my other fic was written so much better. Like I’m tired as hell dude. And I’m sorry it’s late, but I rly, rly hope you enjoy!

Word count: 3335

        Buzz. Buzz.

        “Good God, is that him again?”

        “...Maybe.”

        Buzz. Buzz.

        “Son of a bitch, YN! Just block him already.”

        “All right, all right fine! I will.”

        …

        Buzz. Buzz.

        “OH COME ON!”

        Terushima throws his hands in the air, giving up. You flush and tuck your phone under your thigh, hoping it will silence the buzzing.

        It was movie night with your new friend/roommate and he had been seriously invested in the film up until about ten o’ clock, or, as you called it, “Kuroo’s whine time.”

        “BLOCK THAT FUCKER!”

        You knew he wasn’t wrong. In fact, you should have blocked him months ago. Six, to be exact. But deep down, you just weren’t ready to move on yet.

        “I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I turn it on silent.”

        Terushima shook his head and held out his hand, giving you a pointed look. “Gimme it.”

        “... Nuh-uh.”

        “YN,” he dragged out your name, leering closer to you. “Give me the phone.”

        “I’m good, thank you.”

        “YN!” Terushima didn’t give you another chance. His home, his rules.

        In an instant, your back is pushed down against the couch and you’re gasping for air as Terushima viciously attacks your sides with his long fingers. Giggle after giggle tumbles out of your mouth as you curl in like an armadillo.

        “I yield, I yield!” You hold your hands after the pain in your abdomen grows to be too much. Terushima smiles at the win and he slows his hands, but keeps them on your sides.

        His eyes glow with… something. Something you hadn’t seen since being with him.

        But whatever. Maybe it was just the lighting.

        The blond squeezes your sides before slipping a hand under your thigh and locating the phone. Before pulling it away, he pinches your soft flesh, completely uncovered thanks to your night shorts, and chuckles at the squeal that leaves you.

        “Yuuji!”

        “What?” He gives you an innocent look while tossing your phone across the room. Thankfully, it lands on his armchair.

        All you can do is sigh and straighten yourself back up, reclaiming your original position by Terushima’s side and returning your attention to the movie. His eyes stay locked on you, so close, for just a second longer before he copies your movements, focusing back in on the movie with a small quirk of his mouth.

        You met Terushima a month after breaking things off with Kuroo. He was the only apartment renter who wasn’t a freakshow or a cult leader, and you decided it was high time to get your own place. Especially after your friend, who had hosted you for one angsty, miserable month, kicked you out.

        “You need to get over it, YN,” she had hissed, shoving your suitcase back into your arms before slamming the door in your face.

        And while you were still working on moving on, Terushima was a big help. He was now your guy friend, who had many guy friends that could potentially become your boyfriends. But every time you asked him about setting you up with one of them, you were instantly shut down.

        “You’re too good for them, YN. I’ll help you find someone better, I promise.”

        It’s been five months, and you’re still waiting for that “someone better” to come along.

        Now, when you had first moved in with Terushima, he seemed to be a bit of a mess. Clothes, his or someone else's, were always strewn everywhere. Girls were common midnight visitors, always sneaking out with their heels in their hands and giving you bashful smiles before slipping out the door. You would only sigh and roll your eyes.

        “Your new girlfriend overstayed her welcome this round. I think she stole our Netflix password.”

        Terushima would then purse his lips and avoid your gaze, gulping swiftly. “She’s not my girlfriend. I promise.”

        “Sure sure. But your one-night stand still stole our password.”

        Since then, he’s really cleaned up his act. You haven’t seen a girl come over in weeks. If you didn’t know any better, you’d say you were becoming a good influence on him, much like he was on you. Little by little, day by day, Terushima was beginning to help take your mind off Kuroo.

        Since the day you broke down in the blond’s arms and admitted you were still stuck on him, he’s tried to help you. He even takes you on “dates” from time to time. Just yesterday you two had gone clubbing, and though you had gotten shitfaced, you figure something weird must have happened since Terushima’s been a tad awkward around you. But then he threw open your door an hour ago, scared the shit out of you, and reminded you that it was movie night.

        You couldn’t help it. Your eyes were constantly drawn back and forth between the horror movie and the constantly-buzzing phone.

        “YN look! A jumpscare’s coming!”

        Just as you turned back to the TV, the serial killer flashed back into frame, leaving you to screech in terror and burrow into Terushima’s side. His arm wraps around your shoulders and rubs your arms for comfort.

        “It’s okay, the killer’s gone now.” His voice is low and honeyed, accompanying a slight smile as he peers down at you with his affectionate gaze.

        God how you missed being looked at like that. But you couldn’t get attached. Terushima was like Kuroo, but ten times worse. This was because he wasn’t secretive about his love life. Your very attractive roommate had a higher body count than a war general.

        So you kept things platonic, no matter how much your body yearned for another route.

        No. Terushima was your friend. Your best supporter at the moment. You couldn’t lose him like you had lost Kuroo.

        So even though you cuddled deeper into his side with every heart-stopping scene, and hugged him whenever you were feeling down, and kissed his cheek as a thank you after he would massage your back and scratch your scalp after a long day at work, you would never throw any different labels on your relationship with Terushima.

        You just couldn’t lose this one. And with him being a player, there was no point in making your feelings more than what they were.

                                ~~~
        Kuroo missed you. God, he missed you so much.
        He loved you, and he would never stop trying to get you back!
        That girl, she was a mistake. One Kuroo would never make again, because you were it for him. You were his one.
        He will call you a million more times, text you, hell even track you down to the ends of the Earth just to have you back in his arms again.
        He would give everything just to hear you say “I love you” one more time. He would die happy if he got to see those words fall from your soft lips, carefully quirked into a smile, just once. To have you back in his arms, wearing his clothes and kissing only him….
        Fuck. He had to get you back.
        There was no sign of you at your friend’s apartment when he finally gathered the guts to visit. Only a slap in the face courtesy of one vengeful friend of yours. He knew he deserved it, too.
        But then… God, five more months passed. Not a single woman had been in his bed, your bed, since you left. Every flirtation was turned down, every grabby hand pushed off. The only person he wanted was you.
        So imagine his relief when he finally found you.
                                ~~~

        “Yuuji, do you ever accidentally hurt someone with the piercing?” Your eyes were locked on the ball of metal sitting directly on his tongue while you took tentative sips of your hot chocolate.

        Terushima sat across from you and smirked lazily, sticking his tongue out through his teeth as blatantly as he could. “Boy YN, you sure do ask a lot of questions about my piercing.” He sets his elbows on the small, circular table and leans closer to you. “It makes me wonder if you ever want to feel it for yourself.”

        His cologne fills your nostrils, but you don’t mind. It’s become your favorite, most comforting scent. You lean closer and mock his smirk, lowering your voice just enough so only he can hear in the crowded cafe.

        “I do.”

        Terushima’s pupils widen in the slightest and he subconsciously leans closer.

        You do the same, grin growing on your face before you swiftly reach out a thumb and forefinger and snag his tongue, giggling at the surprised yelp he lets out.

        “YN!” he pouts with a lisp, smacking your hand away and hiding his mouth behind his own. “Why are you always like this?!”

        “I don’t know Yuuji, it must be your piercing or something,” you snicker, picking up your drink once more and taking another sip. You allow your eyes to wander around the cafe, only to lock on the worst sight imaginable just behind Terushima’s head.

        It’s him.

        He shoves the glass doors open and barges through the crowd. Your companion takes in your panicked gaze and glances over his shoulder, sneering at the person approaching quickly.

        “YN,” Kuroo breathes out in disbelief, hazel eyes locked on your tense form. A relieved smile overtakes his face as he reaches out for your hand. “I found you-”

        You tear away from him and jump out of your chair, stepping away as your eyes begin to water. “Don’t touch me.”

        “YN, I-”

        “You heard her, dude. She said don’t touch her.” Terushima fixes an enraged glare on the black-haired man, standing out of his own chair and creating a barrier between your solemn form and him.

        “And who are you,” Kuroo spits through clenched teeth, “her new boyfriend?”

        “It-...” the blond’s jaw irks before he glances back at you, “it doesn’t matter who I am. If she doesn’t want you around, then you need to leave.”

        “You’re not her guard dog, or even her new boyfriend. You’re just a rebound.”

        “Guys…”

        “YN doesn’t want you-”

        “GUYS! SHUT UP!” You breathe heavily after the shout before smiling at the other customers as an apology. “Let’s take this outside,” you snarl lowly.

        Like scolded children, the two men trail after you, almost fighting over who gets to squeeze through the door first until you throw them a warning look.

        Kuroo pushes past the blond and strides towards you in an instant, capturing you in a hug that you don’t return. “God, you don’t know how much I’ve missed you.”

        “Kuroo, I-”

        “Tetsurou.” He corrects, voice muffled against your neck.

        “... I didn’t answer your calls for a reason. We broke up. I don’t-... we can’t be together anymore.”

        Your ex leans back enough to look at your face and scans it for any sign of lying. “YN, I didn’t mean to hurt you. That girl,” he shakes his head, biting his lip, “she meant nothing to me. But you-”

        “Kuroo…”

        “-You mean everything to me!” A tear trails its way down his cheek, but you don’t care to wipe it away. Your face hardens at the words.

        “Then why did you cheat?”

        “I was wasted. And she looked like you and I missed you and I miss you still! YN, you need to understand, I love you! And if you give me another chance, I won’t fuck it up.” Kuroo brushes a hair behind your cheek and your eyes widen at the contact. “I love you so much. Please don’t let this be the end of us.”

        “...”

        “YN, we’re meant to be. It can’t end here. Not for us.”

        Kuroo was wrong, and so clearly mistaken. Months ago, you would have collapsed back into his arms. Months ago, you would have cried and muttered that you loved him too, that you still loved him.

        But now….

        Your eyes drifted past Kuroo, locking on a silent, dejected-looking Terushima.

        You just didn’t.

        “Kuroo, I can’t forgive you for what you did. I just can’t.” He shakes his head and opens his mouth to respond, but you smoothly press a finger against his lips and continue. “Even if I did, I could never trust you again.”

        “YN, if you still love me, then that’s the only reason you need to take me back. I will work every day to regain your trust, no matter how long it takes. I’ll never hurt you again. God, I love you so much, just please, please don’t let us end here.”

        Your relationship with Kuroo ended months ago. You both were just struggling to accept that.

        “No, Kuroo. No.”

        His eyes close and his head hangs, allowing his remaining tears to dribble down his cheeks. “Okay,” he finally whispers, voice silent and cracking. Then he tips his head up and presses a long kiss to your forehead, his final goodbye.

        “I love you, YN.”

        “I know, Tetsurou.”

        Somehow he finds it in himself to smile bitterly at you saying his name, and he nods in thankfulness.

        With a deep sigh, he releases you and steps back, scanning over you one last time before turning away with tear-stained cheeks.

        You had loved him for so long. He was your first everything, your high school sweetheart, and much like him, you thought Kuroo was it for you. Your happy ending.

        You were wrong. And deep down, you were glad you were wrong.

        Kuroo halts in his stance on the sidewalk, just barely passing Terushima before he slams his hand down on the blond’s shoulder and grips it tightly.

        “Don’t-” he cuts himself off to purse his lips. “Don’t hurt her like I did. Don’t let this one go.”

        The skin under Terushima’s eye twitches before he glances up at your face. “I won’t. I’m not stupid enough to make that mistake.”

        Kuroo smiles bitterly and releases your roommate, walking away down the street and never looking back.

                                ~~~
        A day passed, and you avoided Terushima like the plague.
        After seeing Kuroo once again, it reminded you of why you hadn’t ever tried moving on since the breakup even once.
        You had gotten so attached, fallen so deeply so quickly, only to be replaced for another woman for one night. You couldn’t handle that again. The pain of feeling so easily replaceable wasn’t worth the risk.
        At least, that’s what you used to think.
        “YN.”
        Terushima finally snagged your wrist just in time after hours of trying to stop you. You shivered in his grip, almost horrified with how eerily similar it was.
        “Please stop avoiding me.” Terushima stared at your face with natural puppy dog eyes, and after much internal scolding, you just couldn’t resist.
        “I’m sorry.”
        “It’s okay. But can we at least talk about it?”
        “It” was a lot more complex than it sounded. “It” was a commitment. “It” was a major change in your life. “It” was… was….
        “Yeah.” “It” was accepting you might be hurt again, but trying it anyway for love.
        Terushima led you to the couch and sat you down to face him, even though your gaze was locked on everything else.
        “YN.”
        “...”
        “YN.”
        “...”
        “YN, please look at me,” Terushima pleaded, palming your cheek and urging you to make eye contact. When you did was when the walls broke down.
        The sparks his touch left against your skin weren’t right. Because why did they feel so right?
        You loved Kuroo. Some part of you always would, along with the memories you two shared. So surely falling for someone this soon, this hard was wrong, right?
        “Yuuji.”
        “Just… let me speak first, okay?” Terushima dropped his hand to your criss-crossed lap, running his fingers along your kneecap nervously. Tingles erupted from the contact, and fuck, they felt so right.
        You nod and his lips quirk up gently. “YN, I know you’re probably still stuck on… umm, y’know, that guy, but I also know you must be feeling something for me too.”
        If he had said it any other way, you would have smacked him for the cockiness of the words. But the slight nervousness that tinged his tone made you love it all the more.
        “A-and I know that you two were like,” he rolls his eyes, “perfect for each other, but I mean come on, there’s something between us too.”
        There was. Even Kuroo had seen it, as blinded by love as he was.
        “But I know why you’re reluctant too. And YN,” he shakes his head hopelessly and caresses your lower thigh, keeping his gaze locked on yours, “I don’t know how else to show you, but I’m not that guy anymore. Ever since you moved in, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you.”
        “Yuuji….”
        “No other woman has made me feel the way you do,” he whispers. “And that thought kind of scares me. But I… I just can’t have anyone else. So I’m not gonna let you go.”
        You cup one side of his face with your hand and your heart stutters when he leans into the hold. Throughout all of his speech, a small grin had etched onto your face, which was nothing compared to the beaming you felt inside you.
        Waves upon waves of adrenaline, elation, and anything akin to utter euphoria lit up your chest. A zoo stomped and trampled over the tiny butterflies in your stomach as you let out a small giggle. Terushima’s eyes widened at the sound and he instantly tried to pull away, but you swiftly smack your other hand on the other side of his face, effectively trapping him.
        He looks down and drags his fingers away from your lap reluctantly. “Why are you laughing?”
        You almost felt bad, but oh fuck you were so happy! You just couldn’t help it as you let out another chuckle, causing Terushima to struggle in your grip like a floppy fish.
        “YN-”
        You finally shut him up with a kiss, pressing your smiling, giddy lips against his. So much joy bursts through your chest at the contact, and your heart flutters when the blond groans and tightly grabs at your hips.
        He can feel your uncontrollable smiling and laughing against his mouth, and he can’t help but pull away with a confused-- but relieved-- chuckle. “Why are you laughing?”
        “I just, hehe, I just can’t…” you trail off in snickers before yanking Terushima closer, wrapping your arms around his neck and hugging him while you attempt to stop your cackles against his collarbone. “FUCK!”
        Terushima scoffs in disbelief as he holds you against him tightly, baffled at your confusing actions. “What the hell is wrong with you?”
        “I don’t know,” you laugh into his skin, tickling him a bit. You creep your hands into his hair and tug on the strands in an attempt to focus yourself on something more serious. It doesn’t work, but Terushima lets out a surprised moan.
        “YN!”
        “I’m sorry, I’m just,” you press an open-mouthed kiss against his neck, giggles finally slowing, “I’m really happy right now.”
        A corner of the blond’s mouth lifts at the words and he presses you closer to his chest. “I’m happy too.” Then he tugs you far enough away that he can see your bright red face. “Now do you wanna feel my tongue piercing for real?”
        He licks his bottom lip, displaying the enticing metal bar that lights the pit of your stomach on fire. Well, at least you weren’t laughing anymore.
        “Fuck yes.”
Kuroo X Reader X Oikawa
“she is a fucking psycopath” kenma sighs, putting the car in reverse as he pulls up in his driveway, eyes fixated on the rear view as kuroo watches the irriated expression on his face.
“dude, chill I know you hate kizumi, but I might marry her” kuroo sips his coffee as he lets out a shallow grunt in annoyance too, what was he doing in life.
“no, just think about it, she specifically asked for the ring you bought to propose to y/n, when she knows you could afford to give her much expensive one right now, but, again I repeat. she asked specifically for that ring, only”
the black hair man groans at the explanation, he knows his friend has a point, but he is trying to gaslight himself into believing whatever kizumi explained to him. “i think she just likes it, she was the one who chose it too, all those years ago—” and before kuroo could finish his sentence, the half blonde cuts him off, swiftly taking out his phone from his pocket and muttering something to it “siri, how do you block people in real life”
“yeah, okay, this is a kuroo hate club, I get it” the man sighs, propping his head back on the headrest, closing his eyes. “honestly I know her behavior is weird, but I’m in a tight spot, my only left family is nagging me to marry her, and you know I could care less about marriage” he pauses taking a deep breath. “dad is legit emotionally blackmailing me, sitting at his stupid hospital bed probably faking his disease”
“they want you to marry, doesn't necessarily have to be her” kenma suggests, opening the seatbelt around him. “i cannot marry a stranger, kizumi is a better option, we have been dating on and off for one year” the rooster haired man replies, honestly he really wants to jump off a cliff, but he will suppress the impulsive urges.
“as a rebutal to that, one thing you said was right” kenma sighs finally looking at his friend, kuroo looks tired, or is aged that appropriate word. “her behavior is weird, it's like she has more attachment to y/n than you, she is insecure as fuck of her. you, me and her, we all know she won't ever level up to the place y/n has in your heart, so she trying to become her, its giving me chills” kenma shudders at that thought, physically gagging.
“do you think it's too late for me to get a therapist?” with that kuroo tetsuro groans one more time.
Kuroo X Reader X Oikawa
kuroo sits quietly, hands clasped, looking up with hesitant eyes as he watches you put your purse on the table, stoice face, yet so pretty.
he really meant it when he said you got more gorgeous over the years, there were few lines now adorning your face, mature and elegant glow.
even if he sometimes wonders if it would have been better if you both never met at all, if it would have been better if neither of you had to go through the heartbreak, but he knows,
if there was a spell to go back in time, to where he met you, he would do the same thing. he would make a silly chemistry joke and wait for you to laugh at it, not because it was funny, no it was because it was so bad you laughed at it, it was his fault wasn’t it?
to loose the most precious thing in his life, did you feel worse than him, it wasn't a question, nor a comparison, he wanted to know because he will never forget or forgive himself to give you so much pain over the year.
what did you name the kid? did oikawa tooru’ see how your son took the first steps, was he the one who got called father first, what's his favorite food, does he have a birth mark, does he like volleyball? is your son’ tastes similar to what is his? Just like how he saw the little kid adorning your homely baked goods, similar to what he himself used to do.
it pains him, physically pains him to know he wasn't there for anything, he wasn't there to make you food, hold your hair while you threw up during you morning sickness, not hold your hand while you went into labour, he wasn't part of any of it, six years sometimes means nothing and yet to him, now, it means everything, it means every important thing he lost.
“you don't know how much draining this is for me, to be talking to you, or as a matter of fact to talk about what happened, cause honestly you deserve nothing, not the explanation, not to meet me or ruko” you break the silence first, firmly sitting at your place.
and kuroo wishes he could repent on all the thing you said but the only thought in his mind is what you named your son “his name is ruko?”
“his name is oikawa saruko” you firmly state, a small smile tugging at you lips, you were proud your kid had a father like oikawa, cause you can't imagine anyone else being a better father than him.
tetsuro has never wanted to be in someone else's place as much as he wants to be oikawa now, he sighs at your words. “why didn't you tell me, I would get it if you wanted to get away from me, but don't you think I deserved to know the kid was mine?” his voice quivering as he asks you the question, a weird pang in his chest.
“i tried, I tried so many times” your voice quivers slightly “why do you think I asked for your opinion to have a kid?” that silents the man infront of you, his pupil dilated as he realizes how he explained it, and how it sounded like a definite ‘no” from his side.
“not to mention, even after that I was going to tell you, with my parents kuroo and you didn't show up” he relishes at how defeated he feels when you don't even call him by his first name, so the announcement when you called him was with your parents? his legs tenses up and he stops shaking them.
“i know I don't have any excuse but you know there was a storm that night—”
“yet you left me all alone in that storm, tetsuro” his heart breaks into million pieces, do you even know how much he just wants to pull you close and cry, stain your shirt with his tears of sorrow that he made a mistake and couldn't be in your presence and of joy because after years he was able to see you.
“i—y/n” he tries to put his hands over yours but you are swift to pull away, he knows a million reasons of why your reflex action was right, yet he can't help but feel his throat becoming dry “i’m sorry, I assumed you were with your parents, I had no idea, my phone was dead”
“how can you still lie to me?” your voice croaks, finally looking straight into his eyes, you really don't want to care for whatever his action was or what he did but you can't help but feel wronged.
“what do you mean lie?”
“so your phone was dead enough to not respond to my texts but it was working when you reposted on social media with your now girlfriend, her friends commenting how cute you both looked” you scoff pausing in disbelief “or should I say fiance”
“whatever are you sayi-” then it clicks, it suddenly clicks how kizumi’s friend has always shipped him with her, despite knowing he has a girlfriend, despite him saying he doesn't appreciate it, that it straight up makes him uncomfortable.
how kizumi knew, that your birthdate was his password to Instagram, he remembers her saying it was so cute, its laughable to think how dumb he has been, how could he not notice her intention. but he wishes you told him, he wishes he could have cleared off the last misunderstanding and if he could take it all back he would.
hell, he would never breath the same air as kizumi if he could go back in time and fix things. but he cannot, all he has is regret and all he can do his atone for his mistake, he was hoping you'd be kind enough to let him see his son, he hasn't been a great partner but he sure as heck wants to have some influence in your son’s life—
after all, it was a part of you and him, back then if he actually heard you were pregnant he'd probably be scared as shit, but he would still fight every odds to raise the kid you made, how could he ever resent a mini you, kuroo knows he has no right to feel wronged but all those years without the little guy or even acknowledgment of his existence makes feel burnt.
his lips shaky and he doesn't know if a explanation would even help at this point, nothing would change and even if kizumi was in wrong– so was he though. his mouth ran before he could know.
he looks up at her. “I know you don’t owe me anything, but there’s something you need to hear" your eyes held anger and he was scared of that, he wanted to scream please forgive me, over and over again in a chant but he knew he didn't deserve your forgiveness.
you crossed your arms, wary but patient. you had no idea how you still held on. but they say but they say old habits die hard, and even after six year you had the same patience for him, you wanted to laugh at yourself “Go on.”
“It was Kizumi,” he begins, voice low but firm. “She… she’s the reason things fell apart. She was jealous of you, of what we had. She deleted your texts that night—the ones you sent me about the announcement. She posted on my social media to make it look like I was with her. And she—”
"You didn't know?" your eyes widened and you had no idea how to feel after hearing that, conflicted feeling filled your lungs and the wall of resolve you have solidified getting cracks of doubt in them, but you remained firm.
“No,” Kuroo says quickly, his voice thick with regret. “I was blind, stupid, and I didn’t see what was happening. I let her control too much. I thought I could trust her. But I swear, if I’d known—” He stops, realizing that no matter what he says, it won’t erase the past.
you stare at him, your face unreadable, but there was turmoil behind your eyes “So, you’re saying it was all her fault?”
“No. No..no.” Kuroo says firmly, shaking his head. “It was my fault too. I let her into my life, I didn’t listen to you, and I didn’t fight for you when it mattered. That’s on me. I just… I need you to know that I didn’t abandon you on purpose.”
you exhale slowly, looking down at you cup, a closure huh? but what does that change ? you know oikawa is much more important to you now, nothing could change that, nothing could make you ever abandon the perfect family you have right now. “I believe you, Tetsuro. But that doesn’t change what happened. You weren’t there when I needed you, and I had to pick up the pieces alone. Oikawa was there. He’s been there for me and for Ruko.”
even if there is a shaky heartbeat you feel around your past lover you know it was not meant to be. there are so many things unsaid and there will be so many things which will be, you are a mom now and you could never be an careless one. and as much as tears were welling up in your eyes for what could have been, you won't risk anything for what it is now.
Kuroo swallows the lump in his throat. “I know. And I’m glad he’s been good to you both. I just… I missed so much, Y/N. I want to know him. I know I don’t deserve it, but I want to try.”
bonus scene
Kuroo sits on a bench, watching from a distance as you and Oikawa playing with your son, Ruko. The boy—his son, biologically—has Oikawa’s mannerisms but your smile. Kuroo’s chest tightens as he watches the little boy stumble, only for Oikawa to sweep him up, spinning him around while you laugh.
They look like a family. They are a family
Kuroo thinks to himself, maybe this could have been you both if he wasn't consumed by the thought that you both would also be horrible parents much like your families.
you notice him then, your gaze meeting his. There’s no anger in your eyes anymore, just a quiet understanding. you approach him cautiously, arms crossed. “You’re here,” you speak, trying to keep your tone neutral.
“I just wanted to see him,” Kuroo admits. “I won’t interfere much. I just… needed to see him.”
You sit beside him, keeping a respectful distance. “He’s happy, you know. Oikawa’s a good father. He loves Ruko like he’s his own.” and that breaks kuroo's heart, as much as he tries to look positively at this. He can't help but feel his heart become empty, can't help but wish to be where oikawa is right now in your life.
Kuroo nods, swallowing the lump in his throat. “I can see that. He’s a lucky kid.” you glance at him, your expression softening. “I know the truth now, about Kizumi. About what happened. I’m… sorry you were caught in that.”
“I’m sorry too,” Kuroo says, his voice breaking. He knows it's not enough but all he can do is regret it over and over again. “For everything. For not being there, for letting you down. I should’ve fought harder for us.” you look away, your gaze fixed on Oikawa and Ruko. “Maybe. But it’s too late now, Tetsuro. We’ve both moved on.” and he feels a bit happy, you used his first name, God he is so pathetic
“I know,” he whispers, his heart breaking all over again. “But I’ll never stop wishing I could go back and do it right.” and before you are able to say anything you notice a small figure approaching you, you feel at ease when you notice it's your son, oikawa stood a bit away, he felt protective over you both but he doesn't want to snatch away the closure you deserve, and he can't snatch away ruko from his biological dad. so he stays silent cause he knows ruko would pick him for sure, he loves the little guy to death after all.
“Ruko, this is… this is Tetsuro,” you say gently, getting up from the bench only to kneel beside your son.
The boy looks up, curious but cautious. “Hi,” he says softly, clutching his toy dinosaur.
Kuroo crouches down, his heart aching as he gets his first close look at his son. Ruko has Y/N’s eyes and his messy black hair. He smiles faintly. “Hey, buddy. That’s a cool dinosaur you’ve got there. What’s his name?”
“Cupcake,” Ruko replies, holding it up proudly.For a moment, Kuroo wants to giggle, pondering why a dinosaur would be named Cupcake, but he holds back, his lips twitching into a soft smile. “Cupcake, huh? That’s a pretty unique name. Why’d you pick it?”
Ruko beams, his small chest puffing up with excitement. “Well—it’s not weird, okay? It’s ’cause I love dinosaurs and I love Mom’s handmade cupcakes, so I mixed two favorite things at once!”
Kuroo freezes for a moment, his breath catching in his throat. Cupcakes. His gaze flickers briefly to you, you who look away, your expression unreadable. He remembers countless nights when he’d come over to your place, exhausted from work or practice, and the smell of your freshly baked cupcakes would make him feel like he was home. They were his favorite—a sweet, simple treat that reminded him of your warmth.
And now, their son shares that same love.“That’s… that’s actually genius,” Kuroo finally says, his voice hoarse with emotion. “Cupcake is the perfect name for a dinosaur. You’ve got great taste.”
Ruko grins proudly, going on to describe Cupcake’s many adventures and how he takes the toy everywhere. Kuroo listens intently, his heart clenching. There’s an ache beneath his chest—a mix of pride, love, and regret. He and Ruko have so much in common, and yet, this is the first time he’s learning it.
The realization stings, and he resents you a bit for that but it also fills him with a bittersweet joy. Ruko is bright, imaginative, and full of life. He’s a part of you and him—a reminder of what you both once had. And kuroo decides he can live with that. That's enough for now isn't it?
Synopsis : After years spent by a certain setter along with a small toddler mending you heart, your life was a just like a blissful movie with a happy ending. But little did you know the person who gave you not only the worst years of your life but also the small ball of sunshine, decided to suddenly make a appearance in your fairytale when fate played a wild card.
READ THE NOTE 📝 : don't you just love when its fluff at first and then boom! ANGST ANGST ANGST. Anyone else has the urge to kill kizumi? Okay only me? BTW there is bit of physical abuse so that's a trigger warning ig. Fun fact neither y/n nor oikawa knew that they first met at the park like this.
Part 1 : meeting you again | Part 2 : wouldn't you | Part 3 : broken promises | Part 4 : where it all went wrong
Kuroo X Fem Reader X Oikawa
“can you please stop doing that!” you shoot a glare to the rooster haired man beside you, lips tightening to not let the obvious lovestruck grin be any more visible on your face.
“stop doing what?” a smirk on his red bitten lips, as his eyes glistened in amusement watching you try to hide your flusterness, it's cute how you still get fluster even after three years of your relationship. You rolled your eyes at that, shaking your head and lowering your gaze back on the dish in your hand rubbing it in a circular motion. You knew you couldn't win this argument when it will end up with you admitting you get flustered when his hands meets your body.
But.
A squeeze on the waist to move past you again, this time kuroo was taking the gloves from beside you while his cheeks touched your face. There it was— the subtle squeeze and way he always places his hands on your waist to shift you so he can move. As much as kuroo acted like a dorky stupid kid but there is no denying that he can also be a flirty sneaky bastard.
“kuroo!” you widened your eyes at him, smacking his shoulder playfully while he just returned a sleazy smirk.
He just pulled you closer to him, turning your face to meet his gaze, his thumb on your jaw which was moving closer to your lips. “you shouldn't distra—
“you look beautiful” his thumb on your lips, which traced it's edges and shapes so softly like he would hurt if he pressed it. His eyes fixed on your lips— he was like memorising every details his eyes could capture.
“Wha—what”
He doesn't reply anything just looks into your orbs, the dim light of the kitchen lamp illuminating golden colors over your skin, while the most loving feature on his face. The moment was beautiful just something out of a movie, his face leaning to kiss your lips, your hands gripping on his sleeves but the sudden camera shutter made both of yours head to turn towards the couch.
"Oh sorry didn't mean to disturb you" a owl looking friend lowered the camera, a proud grin on his face as if just he achieved something.
"Bo?" Kuroo moved away from you, raising his brow at the former fukurodani captain. What was he still doing at your apartment. And especially at 2 in the morning, the party ended two hours ago.
"Kuroo?" The said man picked his bag keeping the black camera inside it, the grin still on his handsome face as he walked around the couch to the kitchen. "I know you have a extra key to our apartment but that's for emergency only. when did you return—"
"I never left what do you mean?" the confused owl stepped closer, placing his hands on the counter. You snickered a bit at his cute antics. You absolutely loved when the owl was hanging out with yall and him staying over at your place even if it wasn't informed to you didn't bother you at all.
"Where were you all along then ?" You asked taking your apron off, moving past kuroo who was squinting his eyes at the bulky male. You smiled at him wiping your wet hand on kuroo's pant who returned a annoyed 'hey!' At you. But ignoring kuroo's whining was nothing new for you, so you did that well.
"Oh I was in the guest bathroom my pants seemed to not get on really well I think my booty grew a little bigger" You chuckled at the raw explanations, you knew that was nothing new for bokuto for his clothes getting smaller for himself, because the man gets thicker every year. Remembering the time you gave him a nice shirt on Christmas which after two month at a after party when he tried to dance, teared off from his shoulder and stretched out the sleeves because he has gotten bigger biceps. Needless to say the nice shirt was ruined.
"You could have called us bo" kuroo stepped in placing his hands on the waist as his lip twisted upwards. "Why did you take the picture tho" he continued, his hands going back to ran his hand through his locks.
"Oh I am glad you asked!" Bokuto sounded excited alright. You hummed in return sitting across him on the counter while kuroo took the seat beside you, similarly interested.
"So akaashi has this some time of activity on his photography club" he piped watching the famous couple of campus being engrossed in his story.
"And he had to take a romantic picture of couples" he smiled proudly taking out his camera from his bag, aggressively opening it to show you the image. "But he didn't know any close couple from his campus so I offered to help him being his former captain that's the least I could do right???" He turned the camera to let two pair of eyes scan the picture.
You knew bokuto was not so much of a photographer by the blurry pictures of his pet he showed you but if he was capable of taking the present picture in the camera, you might as well invite him to take your wedding pictures.
It looked beautiful, just out of a magical dream or a fairytale. Even though your makeup was messy after your three year anniversary party and kuroo looked tired as hell from all the working hard recently to get you the platinum pendant. The photo showed the two college students being in insanely love pretty well and it impressed you alright.
So that is why you said bokuto to send you the picture, so that is why you kept it as your wallpaper, which now you were staring at for a hour, in the park all alone as a wet drop of tear fell on the screen.
Was November always so cold? The thick turtleneck didn't help when you were sitting all alone at a park with the cold breeze hitting your skin like needles. You typed nervously on the screen again.
He was yet again standing you up, it was not something which could make you cry but you needed him now. He promised you he would go with you to your family and meet them as you asked him to. He promised he will support the important news you wanted to discuss with your parents and him when you sounded so anxious over the phone.
Kuroo wanted to make up for the small petty fight, he didn't get to make you the apology breakfast or shower you with kisses as he planned— no he was met with a empty apartment the next day, you were gone before 6 am and his texts were further ignored by you all day until a 'I am okay' popped up at his phone late at night.
But that was still alright because kuroo called you and wanted to meet you so bad, he tried to do that many times over the week, just to know why did you sound so strange and anxious all the time but you denied and denied until he further decided to give you the space you wanted but little did he know it was because of the small hospital test which came back positive.
The small ping made you look on the screen again, breaking yourself from your thoughts you were hoping for him to complain about the traffic or how he got late because of a surprise test but it was something which caused creaks to form on you glass heart
Kuroo :
"Hey I am sorry I think I can't make it. Kizumi and me were playing volleyball and she accidentally sprained her ankle so I am taking her to the local hospital"
Not that it was surprising he was bailing you for his friends, because you knew kuroo loved his friend and cared for them just like his family. But he promised didn't he? The being late for one hour was still taunting you on the face but what panged your heart more was because kizumi was the reason. He bailed on you because he was playing with a friend— no cause now you were more mad than being upset.
You :
"But the family dinner plan testurou—"
Kuroo :
"I am sorry I promise I will pick you up love. But just tell your parents the thing you wanted to tell, I am sure they will support you. You can tell me later about it :)"
You huffed, disappointed all over your face. You know your relationship with kuroo is stronger than to let a girl who he only met in college to make you doubt, but it was this things which made you insecure over and over again. How many time has he stood up because of kizumi over the time in your university? You think you lost count by now but he does always make up for it. But that isn't good enough, no matter how much he proves he only wants you he keeps hurting you like this.
You got up from your bench, hands gripping the purse in your hand, conflicted emotions as your mind keeps telling you maybe you weren't meant to be? Maybe he wasn't meant to be.
Kuroo X Fem Reader X Oikawa
"Hey mom" you fiddled with the strap of your bag hanging over your shoulder when the blue plastered door of a place you once you used to call home opened, she gave you small greeting smile she gives all the guests, replying a 'hey how have you been'. The pretense on her voice is evident while she walks you into the kitchen where you came to see your father on his laptop working on his paper.
You were about to greet the old man when you were interrupted by his cold, deep voice "so how is living in the small apartment going on with you?" He scoffs, eyes still on his laptop as he checked the paper on his hand again. Your mom calls his name as warning to not let the topic of argument start again.
You hoped kuroo was here to squeeze your hand and let you know that he was there to support you. No matter what. But here you were all alone standing at your childhood home that you left after high-school, while the thick tense atmosphere dooms on you. You weren't ready for this not alone atleast, not when you had doubts yourself, not when you knew your all goals of life will be ruined but, one thing you were sure about was to never commit anything negative and that's fixed.
"It has been fine" You murmured softly, looking at your mom who was bringing the salad on the table, she noticed you look tired must be cause of your studies right? Not that she cared about your health that much if it was involved with school.
"Y/n when is kuroo coming?" She asked, you wanted to say he is just late like the first time you led him to meet up with your family, your remember your dad disappointed that you chose someone who didn't think time was important but he didn't just leave the dinner once he heard that he was actually a good student and liked the fact he didn't prioritize volleyball over his passion for chemistry or grades.
While your mom didn't like him at all, his hairtyle supposedly wasn't as formal in your household nor was his piercing. And you knew your family wasn't positive about the fact that you have a boyfriend. In simple words they loathed your decision, they loathed the fact you were pursuing to become a baker with how good your grades were, they loathed the fact that you wanted to go and live with a boy who you just have been in a relationship with for a year in highschool.
"He is busy in the lab, he took up the job for being lab assistant in the university" You rasped sitting across your father who closed his laptop, putting it aside. "That will look good on his resume" your father commented, you wonder if they ever asked how he treated you or how was his behavior with you. They only cared about his status and studies. Kuroo always treated you nicely but you know if you ever share the troubles of your relationship with your mom or dad you will meet with 'I told you so's '.
"What was the thing you wanted to talk about?" Your mom settled, putting the pasta on the table while taking the seat beside you.
Palms sweaty while your leg shaked uncontrollably, were you prepared for their reaction? You didn't want to beat around bush. But they were always unpredictable and never talking with them about any problems you faced since childhood made the emotional and mental relationship with your parents worse.
"Uhm" You picked up the fork to dig in to your pasta, eyes on your plate as your mind wondered what will be the right word to declare about something growing inside you. This wasn't going to be easy no matter what, you only have your parents and kuroo to support. Yet you knew deep down both parties will most likely leave you.
"I took pregnancy test at the hospitals few days ago—" You said abruptly, the sound of spoons clanking the plate or moving anything stopped. Silence on the table as you didn't dared to look up. You were sure your parents weren't expecting anything good from you but you knew they weren't expecting something like this too.
If you had one word to describe your feelings right there it would have been fear. Utter fear of ruining everything you thought you had.
"It came back positive" You said it— licking your lips as you felt the blood strain away from your body, hands trembling while tightening your grip on the fork you had. Yearning the support you always wanted from the successful couple but to no one's surprise you were met with just silence. The quietness in the room dawned for one to two minutes until a loud slapping sound echoed through the room.
A rough hand hitting the fat of your face as your eyes widened in disbelief, sure your parents didn't show the support or care you always asked for but they never hurted you physically. Eyes watering, as shame started filling your lungs as you look up to see only disappointment and anger on the old man.
"Leave" he muttered, not a ounce of emotion in his voice as your mom looked horrified, not because your father slapped you— rather it was due to your announcement.
You stand up hesitantly, tears rolling down your cheeks involuntarily while the food of the table grew cold.
"Dad pleas—"
"Y/n leave right now and never come back here ever again. Forget you had a father. Forget you had a family" he yelled on your face as he gripped the table cloth tightly. Stern glare and cold expression.
Lips quivering at his response, you bring your long sleeve to rub the tears off your face, gripping the purse in your hand so hardly that your knuckles turned white, you turned around in a rush to leave through the door, you wished your mother would have atleast something through the whole process or calmed down your father but she just gave you bitter look when you turned back to look at her.
Kuroo X Fem Reader X Oikawa
Your hiccups could be heard through the pavement, even during the heavy rain. You always thought your life was like a movie, but you didn't want to live the part where the actress breaks down while suddenly nature also decides to cry with her. A rain in November? You don't remember if you ever saw that happening. You havs called kuroo for ten times by now and yet every one of them went to voice-mail.
Calming your breathing, the red print of hand was still pretty visible on your cheeks. You voice messaged him to pick you up, sharing your address but he didn't respond. How many hours has it been you have sitting there all alone? Maybe his phone died, yeah that's probably it. You opened your Instagram to text kizumi? She was with him right— she will give her phone to kuroo so he could speak with you right ?
You searched her profile, shaky hands trying to press the message button once you opened her page but when you accidentally opened her stories, your glass heart lost a piece yet again. Someone, some friend of her probably, had tagged her in a stories which she reposted.
It was of kuroo and her, kuroo carrying her in his back as they both looked smitten, voices of someone laughing at the background. The story tagged both of them while they added a caption saying "can we get a bestfriends to lover trope??" Which kizumi infact reposted with a text which said "maybe we can ;)". The suggestiveness in the comment was obvious, she was finally showing her true colors? You immediately went to kuroo's page to see if he did repost the story too.
The answer was yes, while he didn't suggest anything and just wrote a "lmao". But would a warning to her friends that he is taken would have hurt anyone? He uploaded the story forty minutes ago huh— and he deliberately ignored your calls— for what now? atleast past two hours. Anger filled your lungs, you wanted to scream at him, let him know that he could go and fuck himself.
But you found calling him once again, but to no avail it reached to voice-mail. You loved him so much that you can't even think what will happen if he lost feelings so you do the last thing which you hoped he would respond to. You asked him to meet you. Meet him at the same place you both met for the first time. No not school— it was a snack store which was opened till late at night. You both going for the same snack as you made eye contact. He had the same mischievous grin you remember, a flirty chemistry remark was also thrown at your way which made you laugh hysterically and lifted your mood after you were scolded by your parents right before that. From that time onwards kuroo was like your support system to escape from reality.
"Hey! are you alright?"
The new hoarse voice makes you look up to meet a man standing in front of you, tall and huge frame, his face was not visible as he wore a mask and the light of the street lamp was barely making out his body.
"Yes I am okay" You softly said back, the tears stain on your face says other wise and the stranger knew better. You were wet alone late at night at park which couple usually used for dates.
"It's raining cats and dogs out here at a chilly night" he pauses as you seem to realize that the rain was still hitting your skin and you were soaking wet. "Do you want me to walk you home?"
As much as the person seemed polite, you wouldn't trust a stranger at late night to walk you home. You shake your head as a 'no'. That was expected the stranger thinks, as a call of a absurd name yelled at the way of both of yours direction. Something along the way of trashy or shitty but you were too engrossed in your emotion to notice.
The man sighed, looking back at his friend, he takes another look at you. He can't just leave you like this— but you won't obviously leave with him. "Here" he stretched his hand towards you as you looked up at him confused. The wet tears of the sky stops falling on you as you wondered What did he mean?
"Here keep the umbrella— its cold I have my car parked right there I can run fast enough to not get wet much" he mumbled handing you the umbrella quickly. What? You wanted to say no but he was running away before that, screaming things like if you end up in trouble call the police immediately or take care it's not safe out here this late at night as he slowly grew smaller and smaller, joining a grow of people, which you only could make out that the numbers were three.
That's the least he could have done for you right? the Argentina player thinks while driving back to the airport to finally leave after the last day of his vacation back home.
Oh Wow. You Never Expected To See The Familiar Rooster Haired Person, Especially Bending Down At A Forty
Oh wow. You never expected to see the familiar rooster haired person, especially bending down at a forty five degree angle to get a better view of the cakes displayed in your shop.
You just came back from picking up some new tea leaves delivered by your mom to try the flavours, while your co-woker was left to handle the shop when you were away.
Now, here you stood in front of your own shop, debating if you should enter or not after noticing a past companion
You gulped a little, touching the knob of the door to twist it open but you immediately retreated your hand away when the metal touched your skin, causing a shiver to run down your spine. Your palm felt sweaty and cold indicating you were getting nervous. Thank God, iwaizumi chose to put glass as the exterior or you can't even imagine how you would have reacted without preparing yourself to meet a certain someone.
You grabbed the knob again twisting it this time as you took a deep breath opening the door. You were mature now, way past your university years. You had to face him some day but you were hoping the some day wasn't any time soon. Maybe after you died or sumn should have been okay.
Calming your nerves, you told yourself that forgetting the hours of crying and snorting on your poor pillow would be best, for now atleast.
The ringing sound once someone opens the door echoed through the cute cafe as you stepped your foot inside, causing kuroo's head to rise up.
He didn't look back though, he just stood up fixing his suit a little because if he stayed in that position in his tight pants, he was quite sure those pants were putting his ass on a show. He smiled at the young college lad behind the counter saying he would like to order a large red velvet cake which should be packed nicely. He liked the smell of the store and the calming feeling it radiates, it reminds him of someone. “oh and please make it fast- my girlfriend is kind of impatient" he chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.
Once you hear his gruffy voice and his signature cologne engulfing your nose, the same one he used to put on too much that you had to scold him about it. You stopped on your track, hands clentching your bags tightly. Memories swaying through your head. You remember the blushes, the jokes, the flirty remarks, days spent sitting on his roof while he told you every interesting facts about stars he knew.
You closed your eyes putting a small smile on your face, get a grip y/n. You chanted the slogan in your mind before opening your mouth to call out his name that you screamed so many times in so many different ways, but to your luck of course your obedient staff interupted, the guy was more than happy to let the only customer at this late in the hour know of your existent. "ah- Mrs. Oikawa you are back"
The engines of kuroo's head twisted and turned at the mention of the surname, he didn't know oikawa tooru from the Argentina team had a wife. Was this guy talking about the same oikawa he knew?
The one he met during some tournaments and parties a few times, he remembers making small talks once or twice with him, though— he wouldn't call themselves friends but but one thing he knew about oikawa was that he had tons and tons of fangirls, he knew just by seeing the bunch of girls waiting for him to get out of the five star restraurents that they both attended for some formal parties so they can take a picture with him.
He has still the habit of not minding his own business back from his highschool days. So, curious to know who was the wife of infamous oikawa tooru and why he didn't hear a gossip about it before. Kuroo snaped his head back to met a glossy, familiar pair of e/c eyes.
The say curiosity kills the cat, but in this case his world falls apart when he sees you. He choked, feeling all the air get suck out of him. Locking eyes with the same e/c orbs he adored so much, the same ones that used to sparkle when you looked at him.
"y/n" a really small mumble, more like a whisper which can be barely heard. But that small mumble takes you back to the days where he would call your name over and over again from across the library, for letting you know about something new he found out about the two married teachers hooking up with each other. Though the actions mostly ended up for the both of you to getting kicked out of there and then him rumbling about how the old librarian lady was so insensitive and rude when it was obviously his fault you both were banned from there.
"tet-" you stopped yourself immediately, shaking your head to convince yourself that you shouldn't call him that. "kuroo" you mumbled a little louder than him, a soft smile forming on your lips as your eyes wrinkled.
Oh fuck. That's what he thinks. Geez after all those years how could you still smile at him like that. The contagious smiles that drives him crazy so so much. At this point he even forgets you were married or he was about to propose his girlfriend tonight. All in his mind at that moment was you.
You have gotten more beautiful, hair longer and face a lot more matured. You still had those soft lips he remembered and he can say you have gained a little weight which just makes you more beautiful in his eyes. He wants to ask you a lot of questions. He wants to say a lot of things. He missed you like a mad man.
He opens his mouth to say he missed you, he missed your hands cupping his face, he missed your touch, your soft snores against his neck. The way both of you would plan about the future.
“how have you been?”
You fiddled your fingers in your pocket, swallowing the lump in your throat. “I have been doing good” you closed your eyes smiling brightly at him just like you used to. Placing the bags on the table beside you, you shifted your gaze from kuroo. He is a lot more muscular now than he was in college, but with the same messy hair styled with lots of jel.
“haru take this bag and keep it in the kitchen please” you asked to him, looking back at kuroo who was still busy taking in your appearance. “it's rude to stare at someone” you chuckled, patting his arms as you moved past him. “is it my fault you grew more gorgeous now?" he spat back, feeling the angsty feeling in his heart decrease a little. Not so sure where this confidence to speak with you is coming from.
“aah-you still flirt with taken women?” you replied, tying your hair into a bun, walking behind the counter. The way you moved was more elegant than he remembers.
You hit a spot in his heart reminding you were taken but so was he. He reminds himself that you both weren't anymore teenagers and adults with real life responsibility.
Huffing you wrapped the pastel blue coloured apron around your waist, eyes avoiding his face “is it kizumi?” you arched a brow, eyes on your working hands. Taking the piece of cardboard and a red ribbon which matched the cake. He turned around, tightening his lips wondering how is gonna tell you 'it is her'.
The one girl who always made you feel inferior and insecure. Nights he spent reminding you she was just a friend, now he is fidgeting how to tell your guess was right. Back then he truly meant she was just a friend.
As long as you could remember you always disliked her, she was always kind and cheerful and a little too bright for you. Though she never directly tried hitting on tetsu but you knew by the subtle touches and the lingering gaze she was into him.
But you were past that stage, even though you felt a little defeated by her but you have your own special person now, the person who makes the world seem like a bearable place everyday little by little. You chuckled to cut the thick tension in the air
“you should go and sit upstairs till' the cake is prepared” changing the subject, your hands motioned to the cute stair inside the cafe leading up to a new set of area with private chairs and tables for people who liked privacy. You didn't want kuroo to stand infront of you when you were trying to ignore his presence.
“ah-” he paused looking at the direction of your hands. The wooden stair case with black tinted glass at the end to cover the upstairs view. Several small flowers wrapped around the railing and small lamps decorated along the way. He hesitantly opened his mouth, he wanted to talk with you and know every thing that he wanted to ask you after the day you left. This night could end like this, he could just sit idly and let the burning curiosity being ignored and move on with his life, propose the girl like he planned and try to keep you off mind. Try to not find you in the girl he is with like he did for years.
But he was determined today, he was going to get answers why you left and how sorry he was for not meeting you for the last time you asked for. No matter what or who—
“Mommyy” a voice ringed through the cafe followed by soft giggles and a chuckling of a adult. A small pair of legs dashed past kuroo towards you. Two hands wrapping around your legs with a beaming smile stretched acrossed a chubby face, giving you a long hug. You looked a little exasperated and shocked by the sudden attack but a small smile formed on your lips looking at the tiny boy.
“sorry to disturb your working hours honey” a breathy, hoarse voice behind kuroo spoke in a teasing tone followed with few snickers "but our dear son was nagging why is his mommy so late” by the tone of the argentina's player, it was evident that it was his idea to sneak up in your working hours.
Walking playfully to the back of the counter, he pecked your lips lovingly, parting before giving you a eye closed smile. He didn't notice who the other male was standing in the cafe, honestly he could care any less and especially since oikawa was a man for showing some public display affection. But when he noticed the flickering worry over your eyes when you looked past him he snapped his back to meet a pair of gawking cat-like eyes.
It wasn't oikawa's affection which drained all kuroo's blood off his body neither was it because you have a loving family now, no— it was rather because of the small kid who was smiling at the desserts in display with sparkling eyes.
Anybody could tell with two eyes that the small guy had the exact same messy long hair similar to the ex nekoma's captain. Anyone could tell that the golden brown cat like eyes were the exact copy paste of someone else's flickering fierce eyes. Because anybody could tell that the small guy looked nothing like oikawa and more like the stranger standing in the store.
“mommy can I have another late night dessert again? Please! please! please! I swear I will wash my teeth as many time you want today”
Ah— how could kuroo forget about the same way he used to nag for a late night dessert made by especially you. The one which he ate too much that he had to visit dentist every two to three months for. Seems like you have a lot of explaining to do.
