Demon Slayer AU where everything is the same except Yoriichi is a ghost.

He’s corporal/people can see him, he can change his appearance from when he was a kid to when he was old.

He follows Tanjiro around. They met sometime before the Hashira Training Arc for sure, but how early depends on what the writer decides. Has he been there since pre-canon? Or did he show up after the Entertainment District Arc (would honestly make most sense since Tanjiro didn’t know about Sun Breathing until after Mugen Train, but again this is an AU).

He meets Muichiro, and after it clicks that he’s Michikatsu’s descendant Yoriichi follows him around too, eager to be close with the family he could never have.

Depending on when they met, Yoriichi could help Muichiro recover is missing memories earlier than in canon.

Other things about/to include in the AU:

Kamaboko Squad centric (Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, Zenitsu, Kanao, Genya, AND Aoi and Senjuro)

each member gets a one-on-one interaction with him at some point, which will add to their own personal character growth

Whether or not Yoriichi can physically interact with others is up to the writer

making him able to fight demons seems kinda OP, so unless the writer can find a way to make it make sense about how he can maybe don’t do that

maybe he can exude enough strength to stun demons, but not fully kill them

can he pick things up, or do they just pass through him?

He helps train Tanjiro, making him more proficient in Sun Breathing

this can give Tanjiro more time to hone is Water Breathing. It always irked me that Tanjiro didn’t practice Water Breathing as much when he discovered Sun Breathing (don’t quote me on that, I get my info from TikToks and reaction videos. But why learn two breathing styles and not increase your skill in both?)

this can allow a Giyuu training session in the Hashira Training Arc that we didn’t get to see

Expanding on Yoriichi changing his age: I feel like the older he presents himself, the more power he would have. So when he’s fighting, he’s somewhere between his 20s and 80s. However, because this takes up a lot of energy, when he’s not fighting he’s typically in the form of himself as a child or in his teens

whether or not his mentality/maturity is affected when he’s at different ages is up to the writer so long as it’s not portrayed in an erotic/kinky way

Yoriichi can give tips to the Hashiras that those in the Sengoku Era used (information always has the potential to be forgotten, so maybe there were some tricks that were forgotten about?)

can provide more information about Muzan and his weaknesses, since he was the only swordsman who came close to killing the Demon King

Interactions with Lady Tamayo and Yushiro!

Fluffy moments! Slice of Life, Found Family, all the tropes! Let him be the father to the Kamaboko Squad that they never had/lost (let him have the chance to be the father he never got to be)

Lots of interactions with Genya (is my favoritism showing?)

bonding over being the younger brother

bonding over their endless love for their older brothers

bonding over their older brothers who do so much to hurt them, but they just can’t stop admiring them

Let Yoriichi give Sanemi a talking to

yes, I understand why Sanemi acted towards Genya the way he did. He wanted to protect him, keep him out of danger. However. Good intentions DO NOT give you a free pass on bad actions.

the way that Sanemi treated Genya was cruel and frankly unacceptable; he could’ve gone about it in a much more mature manner

Interactions with Giyuu and Yoriichi!!

mostly bc Giyuu is my fav Hashira, but I notice a lot of similarities between them

Maybe Yoriichi can provide information about Kokushibo/Uppermoon 1?

Yoriichi has the flute that Michikatsu gave him with him in his ghost form

Additional weaknesses up to the writer (this goes for powers too)

Our Boi Yoriichi is tired from hunting down Muzan😭

Not gonna lie , had a dream where Yoriichi managed to capture muzan the first time in the sengoku period and sort of kept him around in order to try to turn him into a human.

Information below

In the au he's sort of like nezuko (like small in order to conserve energy and stuff). In order to not get killed he reluctantly goes along with Yoriichi's plan despite not wanting to be human again because he's afraid that'd his weak body would return.

Kokoshibou was also there lol. But mostly to carry the box they kept muzan in.

There was this cute scene of muzan with oversized clothing and an a sunhat trying to see if it could withstand the sun. He didn't go through with the plan though, so he stuck with this box.

(for some reason they were in tanjiro's time period, so it must of been a time travel au ... So modern-ish muzan is there too and tanjiro's confused because he can sense two people with the same smell).

It was a cute dream. Tiny muzan kept arguing with Yoriichi about what he can or cannot eat (despite hiding further away from him).

I don't think this muzan would wear a muzzle since I believe he can control himself pretty well , though Yoriichi keeps a muzzle on hand in case of emergencies.

Rarepair are crazy bc they just appear like that and you're like “Wha—”

Like I just realised I shipped Yoriichi and Tamayo, suddenly.

Something about a man who's never been the first choice being chosen by his wife straight on and she, who regards his existence as a blessing, when all his life he was never one.

Have a headcanon that Yoriichi helps Nezuko in hinting how to get Tanjirou's blade turns red.

She always made sure to hold his hand tightly.

The first day Yoriichi decided to come and live with Uta, the girl took a hold on his hand and lead the way to her home, her tight was strong.

It was as if she was afraid he would leave.

Since then, whenever they both went out together, Uta had always held his hand in hers. She had asked once if he felt uncomfortable with it and would rather her not to do it.

Yoriichi answered by gripping her hand in his.

He was happy.

Very happy.

His face didn't show his true feelings, but the small action from Uta made his heart fluttered. He noticed that it was something that calmed Uta down, as she sometimes had nightmares when sleeping and he would reached out and hold her hand, and she would immediately calmed down.

10 years later, married, even as adults, she would still hold his hand. She was still worried that he would leave her and she would be left alone again.

Yoriichi would gripped her hand and reassured her that, he would always stay by her side.

He would never leave her.

But she did.

Yoriichi would never forgive himself for coming home late that night. His mistake had caused his wife and unborn child to be murdered. If only he had returned quicker...

And so he cradled Uta's corpse in his arms gently for the next 10 days, tears already dried from the constant crying.

He held her hand in his. Her skin was so cold, no warmness on it like he usually felt. He regretted letting her hand go that day. She must have felt so lonely. She died a lonely death with their unborn child.

His grip around his wife's hand tightened.

What he would give to have her hold onto him again...

It makes me happy to know that Yoriichi and Uta are reborn in the modern world and even have two kids together 😭🤧🥺✨💖

Yoriichi + any character/s (separately)you'd want to write for, hcs for how they'd react to their s/o cooking them a grand meal with their favorites foods and such once they get back to their shared estate. When asked "what's the occasion?", s/o just smiles and goes "nothing, I just wanna show u ily" with a big smile 💕

You and Yoriichi have been together for a while now and recently his been on a mission for about two weeks

He sent you a letter yesterday that he would be back home for dinner, so you thought this was the perfect opportunity to make a big meal so he can go to bed with a full stomach

You have been preparing dinner for the entire day since there was a lot of food and you wanted it to be perfect so your sweet baby can have a relaxing night when he returns

Just as you finished setting everything up you heard the front door open, quickly you ran to greet Yoriichi so you can send him to take a bath so he can be all clean and relaxed for his meal

As you turned the corner you saw your handsome boy, you ran up to him wrapping your arms around his neck and you gave him a peck on the lips before hugging him

Your smile widened when you felt his tense body relax against you pulling your body closer to his as he wrapped his arms around your hips hugging you back

“Hello love! I missed you so much!” You exclaimed happy to have Yoriichi in your arms again and you knew he felt the same “I missed you as well” he spoke burying his face in your neck as he exhaled and breathed in your comforting scent

You pulled back and cupped his face in your hands and gave him a deep sweet kiss as he tried to pull you even closer towards himself, but soon enough you needed air, so you leaned back with Yoriichi following your lips you giggled then told him to go to the baths so you can finish with dinner

He complied and walked off so you went back to the dining room to check if everything was all ready and after you were satisfied with the work you sat down and waited for Yoriichi to arrive

Once he did he looked over all the food prepared then his eyes landed on you sitting down patiently for him “What’s all this?” He asked sitting down next to you “Is today a special occasion?” He asked and you noticed he seemed tense about maybe forgetting something important “I guess you returning home to me safe is special, but I made this all so you could have a nice big meal when you got home!” You exclaimed happily

Yoriichi then gave you one of his rare smiles that you knew can outshine the sun "You are too good to me" he spoke still staring at you in admiration "Nonsense you deserve everything you want!" You exclaimed pouting which earned you a laugh from the usually stoic demon slayer

“Thank you love I really appreciate this” he spoke “No problem” you said “Now let’s eat before all this food gets cold!” You exclaimed beginning to dig into your food

"Y/N..."

"Yeah?"

"I love you so much"

"I love you too!"
