So i recently lost a pet (like- last night)
and I got really sentimental and emotional and I started thinking about other pets i'd lost
so i designed this - a tattoo im going to get when im older
each print represents an animal ive lost
the filled in paw prints are cats
the hollow paw prints are dogs
there are chicken prints and a seagull print
as well as hermit crab claws
and a deer print
all this to say: memorialize your pets in some way. it doesn't have to be a tattoo, but just something to remember them by. making this helped me grieve. I recommend it.
This is my chicken Paprika. She is about 3 years old. She loves being the top chicken of the pecking order, as you can see from her crest. (Hen's crests get bigger when they are the top of the pecking order) She has very soft feathers.

By the way, I saw your work on deviant art; I especially liked the ones about Amethio and Spinel, Amethio, Sprigatito and Liko. Also, the one with Roy and Liko arguing about who is classified as a protagonist. I mean the Pokémon people said that they were both protagonists, but we all know. we all know.

if you need me i am going to be binge-reading the archives of my favorite blog on the entire internet which is written by this sweet old man who lives on a farm in the pacific northwest with his husband and a bunch of animals. there are nice pictures of flowers and ducks and the tone is so gentle and soothing:
like… fuck…. i love everything about this blog…. it’s the one good thing left online
AAAAAA!!! She looks so similar to my chicken, Puff.
[ID: a photo of a chicken lying down. The chicken has a black head and beard, and the feathers on the rest of her body are a mix of black, grey, and light brown. End ID.]
This little girl is so gorgeous, I love her colors and the shape of her face reminds me of a bird of prey. She’s still skittish but will get close to me if I’m sitting still, so there’s still hope that she’ll start to trust me!
hmmmm interesting…
Well I hope Gertrude has fun leading humans elsewhere. It’ll be difficult.
Like herding cats, but otherwise a noble venture.
Do you like chickens? Do you believe in the mysterious theory that the chickens are bald and the egg rates are decreasing? Do you believe in Gertrude?
That is a very good question.
I do in fact like chickens. There are many breeds and colors that are interesting, such as the Lavender Orpington. I highly recommend that you check those out, and they are also excellent egg layers (allegedly).
I don't think chickens are bald, if you are referring to the fact that chickens are not covered in hair, which they are not, but feathers are similar enough to hair in makeup (keratin) and use that I do consider them functionally hair. However, it is possible for chickens to not have feathers on all or parts of their body, as there are several breeds that have those traits on purpose.
I am not sure of the egg rates decreasing. I suppose I will have to do further research on the topic.
If this Gertrude will give me something to believe in, then I may believe in her. For now she will remain as she is, a name.

A lot of men and women don't know the benefits associated with raising their very own chickens rather than other farm livestock. Below is a list of advantages of raising chickens in your own farm yard. - Chickens provide good nutrition's for your body and the eggs are good tasting as well. There is not any other bird that produces edible eggs like chickens. The eggs are in demand. - It is very fascinating to watch chickens go about doing their thing because of their different personalities. No chicken activities are similar to another chicken, all of them are unique in their own way. Their colors, sizes and patterns are all different thus rendering it easy so that you can give them names. - Raising chickens in your farm yard provides you with sustainable living. Keeping chickens in your yard does not limit you in living your own life and take care of other things in your life. - Chickens make good garden household pets as well since they make your garden substance free. Your garden will be free from chemicals because they turn it into fertilizer with the deposits. And when the chickens wonder around your garden they eat and eliminate all types of insects such as earwigs, worms, beetles, and many others. - Since chickens are not choosey when it comes to eating, there is no need so that you can dispose your left overs because your chickens can eat them for you. This can also help you in saving cash in buying chicken food. Although please keep in head that garlic and onions are generally not good for your chickens because they can affect the taste of the eggs. - As chicken boo is very rich it can help balance your compost load. The eggshells can also contribute to make the garden soil fertile and rich. - If there's one bird that is low maintenance it's chickens. They can be feed once a day , nor need to be washed or taking for a walk. The single thing needed of you is to give them food, provide them with water and acquire your eggs. Their bedding can be changed only once per month. - When ever you raise chickens you will be unique from your family and neighbours. You can then make a little extra income by offering your chicken produce to your friends. So when you have made up your head in raising chickens just remember to acquire enough space for your chickens. The space can be scored by the number of chickens you are well prepared to raise. An advised space is 10sq.ft per chicken. If you have more space, then 2 to 4 sq ft per chicken can be enough. Chickens also love hunting so a sizable garden for them to hunt around is not a bad idea. These types of insects also give them extra nutrition's. Beginners Guideline to Housing Your Very Own Healthy Chickens for Profits or Pleasure Raising your very own chickens requires a lot of planning and organization in order to be successful. Costly mistakes have to be avoided because your birds can die and you will lose a lot of income in the process. The most important step to managing healthy profitable chickens is building the right chicken house. Arranging should be used when building the right chicken coop. The size and position of your chicken house takes on in big role in the success of your chicken project. If the space is insufficient in the chicken coop your chickens can face space constraint and this can lead to a few of your chickens dying because of this. When ever starting out in building your chicken coop you should make some exact measurements of your garden or space where you want your chickens to graze. The space in and out of the house should be enough to accommodate all of your chickens. It is a good idea as well to build a huge coop in case you want to add more chickens in the future. The house you build should be in a secure location that is nearer to you and is in a site free from predators that can eat your chickens. A good idea in keeping your chickens safe is by building a wired wall around the house. This kind of fence should be sufficient for predators not to jump in. The coop it self should be built in a way that sun light can get inside and be well ventilated. In the event that you build the house this way you will make sure that your chickens find the right temperature needed for these to survive. The coop can also be a protection to the chickens from extreme climate conditions. Building your own bird house is a sensible decision if you are on a tight budget. But if you have some money to commit you can buy a hen house which is available on the marketplace. Simply make sure choose the one that will go hand in hand with your chicken job. But you can always make some modifications to the coop in the future.
