Where Every Scroll is a New Adventure
Should I Make a La’gann/Coral/Rodunn’s Kid OC?
A year ago, I used to make a lot of future kid ocs for ships like SuperMartian, Spitfire, and Dick x Barbara. I haven’t had a lot of inspiration for that project until now. I’m thinking of doing La’gann/Coral/Rodunn’d kid but I’m not sure if I should do it since the baby is already born. But I draw the kids as young adults/adults.
I like the Kaldur x Wyynde in season 4 but I’m still not fully on board with their relationship. Tbh, I sometimes wish Kaldur was single instead. I think my problem with their relationship is that Wyynde’s character revolves around Kaldur. For me, I have trouble liking a couple if one of them doesn’t have their own story. I know they couldn’t fit it in but I wish the writers showed us how much being a former purist affects Wyynde instead of telling us that he regrets it. Personally, I need more details. If my wish actually happens in later episodes then I’ll most likely warm up to Kaldur x Wyynde.
Granted, someone could argue my contradiction since I really like La’gann/Coral/Rodunn, but, for me, there is a difference. Compared to Kaldur, La’gann is a minor character we barely know about except that he dated M’gann and is impulsive. With a character like this, I’m not as critical with a love interest who doesn’t have much character since as fans, we mostly fill in the lines on who La’gann is and why he loves his partners.
Kaldur is a main character and knowing what made him love Wyynde would further convince me that Wyynde is a great match for him. I guess I’m used to most major couples having development, and we get to see their reactions like with SuperMartian and Spitfire.
Literally took me a minute for me to be obsessed with La’gaan, Coral, and Rodunn. They seem like a sweet throuple and I need fluffy fanfics to sustain this obsession. Now I’ve gotta add them to my BIG list of fanfic ideas.
I didn’t care too much for La’gaan in S2 but now I’m crossing my fingers that nothing bad happens to him and he gets to see his baby be born. Young Justice writers, don’t break my heart anymore than you’ve already did. 🙏
I’m Iffy on Zatanna’s Morally Gray Idea
I mostly have a problem with the execution of this plot line more than anything. I like heroes to be morally gray sometimes but for me to really gel with the idea, I would have to see the character struggle resorting to that risky decision.
I think seeing Zatanna constantly finding other ways to save her dad but them failing would’ve helped me feel more sympathetic towards Zatanna, and understand how desperate she is to find a solution.
Also, I would’ve done the reveal totally different(honestly I would’ve done her arc differently). Zatanna and her protégés would visit Nabu quicker than in canon, and he somehow lets her plan slip out in front of her students. They get mad but Zatanna tells them that it was not the time and the discussion will happen later.
Then, in the end, Zatanna realizes how effed her plan is and tells her students that they have a choice to say no. Zatanna would tell Mary she’s not ready while Traci and Khalid accept the deal.
My Thoughts on How Barbara Became Oracle.
I’ve seen people talk about this change and I wanted to join in since I have some thoughts too.
For the most part, I’m okay with the change the writers did. Young Justice is one of many DC universes so anything can happen. I applaud the writers for trying something new.
Though, I still have some problems with the change. It was pretty weird that Barbara automatically assumed Orphan never killed anyone before they met. I think the writers were trying to outright tell us that Cassandra’s story is widely different. I also would’ve preferred if Orphan made that decision not to kill or killing is bad on her own like what happened when she and her mother fought in episode 8.
I read Cassandra’s comic origins on her Wikipedia page and prefer how she decided to be a hero than YJ’s version.
Incase anyone is wondering about my thoughts on how Barbara became Oracle in the Killing Joke, I’m okay with this version. There are many people who said they didn’t like it because they believe Barbara was a consequence of Joker wanting to drive Gordon crazy. I can see where they are coming from but that was not my perspective.
From how I see it, what happened to Barbara was a devastating way to show the audience that heroes can face as much pain and tragedy in their civilian lives as them being superheroes. And that terrible things can indirectly happen to you.
I hope you liked my rant! Thanks for reading!
Thoughts on S4 so Far? + Mine
I have this weird relationship with S4. The writing has improved and I’m glad that the original characters are getting attention, but this season still feels somewhat off to me.
I guess I’m still apprehensive about how the show is handling the characters. More of them are being added like M’gann’s sister and Onyxx when we already have so many more characters that were added on the previous two seasons. The show still feels congested.
Another thing that might be bothering me is Greg Weissman saying that there can be 3 more seasons for the show and that the characters’ stories never end. I really like Young Justice but I don’t think it needs 3 more seasons. The story, plot twists, and characters will get bland at some point like the ‘find the traitor’ plot point. I’m glad the writers didn’t keep this idea going on for the whole season but the trope is kind of stale right now since it’s been used so many times.
Maybe I’m nervous to love this season because of the underlying issues still being around.
Feel free to mention your thoughts.
