Kaiju No 8 | A Fallen Star

Summary: Akira Shinomiya, a boy with shoes to big to fill. Finds what seems like impossible obstacles to fulfill his dreams. And what he isn’t aware of, is that times are turning even worse. Will he make it?

Warnings: gore and blood.

A/N: This is another idea that came to mind. Hope to finish this one.

Kaiju No 8 | A Fallen Star

A blond haired woman sighed in exhaustion. After a long day of work she was finally home to her family.

“Hey, I’m back.” She announced sitting by the door and taking off her shoes.

The family’s butler greeted her. “Welcome back home, Mi-“ his greeting was interrupted when a yellow blur flew by him and crash hugged the blonde’s face. That blur was none other than her daughter.

“MOMMY, WELCOME BACK.” Greeted the child with her high pitched voice.

Isao, the girls father, also went to greet her but stared scolding the child for jumping into her already exhausted mother. “Come now, Kikoru. Your mother is to exhausted to-“

Contrary to what he was saying, Hikari took her daughter’s hands and started spinning like a helicopter. “You’ve done it now, gosh darn it!!! Have you been a good girl you little scamp?!” Yelled Hikari with as much enthusiasm as her daughter while the little girl laughed.

Isao refrained himself from saying anything and sighed. He doesn’t understand how can they have so much energy.

“Today, guess what? Guess what? We watched TV in the shelter!” Started saying Kikoru with enthusiasm as her mother stopped spinning to hold her in front of her. “And everyone said you were cool mommy.”

Hikari was surprised for a moment. She knew the kaiju appeared in a city near her daughter’s school but she didn’t expect it to be that close. “No one was hurt?” She asked expectantly.

Kikoru shook her head. “Nope.”

Hikari smiled widely at the information. “That’s great news.” She cheered.

The little girls smile dimmed when she finally noticed something in her mother’s arm, a bandage. “Did you get hurt?” She asked with a hint of worry in her voice while Hikari put her back in the floor.

The woman looked at source of worry of her daughter remembering the moment the kaiju caught her of guard with a sudden burst of power. “Yeah, today’s kaiju was a little strong. But I’m all right.” She assured while lowering the sleeve of her shirt to cover her bandage. She really wanted to keep all the dangerous staff away from her. But Kikoru’s next words showed her it was impossible.

“Mommy.” Said the girl, gaining her parents attention by her sudden seriousness. “I’m gonna join the defense force and I’m gonna save you.”

Hikari shared a surprised look with her husband before smiling. She was really their girl. She kneeled in front of Kikoru and gave her a soft smile and a pat on the head. “Okay then, Kikoru. And when you’re in trouble mommy will save you.” She promised her daughter.

Isao watched the interaction with a small smile. He didn’t know what he did to deserve them. His smile fell once he remembered someone in the second floor waiting for them.

“Kikoru, go wash your hands. Dinner is almost ready.” He instructed the child.

The little blond girl nodded before running to the nearest bathroom, leaving the adults in a somewhat solemn silence.

Hikari looked at her husband before asking. “How is Akira?”

Isao sighed softly, turning and walking to the stairs being followed by his wife. “As well a he can be.” Informed the man with his gravel voice. “He hasn’t stopped watching videos of the defense force fighting Kaijus.”

Hikari smiled slightly at that. Akira has always wanted to learn how to kill kaijus and the boy absorbs information like a sponge. Suddenly her smile dimmed. There was only one thing stopping him from doing it.

Once in the second floor Isao knocked on the big brown door before opening it. “Akira, your mother is here.” He announced.

Hikari breathed deeply before putting on a wide smile in her face. “Where is my handsome boy?” She exclaimed cheerfully as she entered the room.

The boy behind the desk, who was previously watching a hologram of a kaiju, gave her a big smile as his eyes brightened. “Mama.”

The little blond boy pushed himself from the table and moved around the table to greet his mother. Once the desk was no longer in his way Hikari saw a sight that repeatedly breaks her heart. Her son rolling his wheel chair towards her.

She kneeled before her son once he was close and gave him a warm hug. The type only a mother can give.

“I saw the news today. You were awesome mom.” Murmured the boy in his mother’s shoulder.

She released him and put a hand on his cheek, caressing the tiniest of scars underneath his eye. A cut long healed and barely visible. But for her, it could as well have been a big sigh in bold red letters as a reminder.

The day she was to late to protect her precious baby boy.

“Did you think so?” She asked softly.

The blond boy nodded his head eagerly. “I know so.” He affirmed. “Do you think some day I can be as cool as you?”

Hikari widened her smile, ignoring the stabbing pain in her chest and the sting in her eyes. “I know you will.”

Isao watched with well hidden solemnly from the door. It hasn’t been that long since the accident, the regenerative tissue and his young body still have time to heal correctly. The boy just needs a little push.

Nock nock

The nocking in the door brought back General Isao from memory lane. He looked up from the screen of his computer, that displayed a picture of his family when they where still complete, and closed the computer. “Come in” he announced.

From the door came in a young man with blond hair and amber eyes, tall and muscular yet lean. His enforcer suit looks pristine clean, like a car recently cleaned.

The young enforcer carried two suitcases and put them gently on the floor once in front of the desk. The metal of the case clanged quite loudly due to its weigh.

“As requested general Shinomiya.” Informed the soldier standing straight.

Isao paused for a second looking at those eyes similar to his, and most importantly, the tiny scar below the left eye. Only now visible thanks to the rays of sun coming through the floor to ceiling windows.

“Very well.” He said as he stood up, walking around the desk and towards the exit. “Let’s pay a certain kaiju a visit.” The clang of metal was sing enough that the boy was following his steps.

The old man couldn’t help but watched through the side of his eye their reflection in the hall’s windows.

To think that the little boy came this far.

The same boy with round cheeks and big doe eyes now lost al that baby fat, giving a sharp look.

Akira inherited most things from his father. From his height to the way he walks.

And he thought he looked more like his mother when he was a kid.

Talking about kids. They’re about to meet the youngest Shinomiya after months of not seeing each other.

He wonders how much she has grown.

“A new student?” Asked the teenage red head nonchalant. His voice came muffled by the rim of the can in his mouth. The now student leaned his head back compelatly to drink the rest of the beverage.

“Mmhm. And I need you to keep an eye on him.” Answered Gojo sensei. The man smiled when he saw the boy shaking the can over his mouth to take until the last drop while humming to what the teacher was saying. The red head even had the audacity to look inside the can looking for more.

The boys obsession with unhealthy beverages was more than evident. “What grade is he?”

Gojo walked to the boy lazily seating in his couch and replaced the can with a strawberry mochi he recently bought. “Special grade.”

Kimura whistled in wonder finally looking at Gojo. “Such a task for little ol’ me?”

Gojo smirked. “Well, I wanted my strongest student to help with such an important task.”

The boy raised an eyebrow. It’s not that uncommon to get praised by the strongest sorcerer but…

“And since Inumaki is busy.” Shrugged Gojo.

Kimura snorted. Yep, that’s more like it. He bit the mochi, actually pleased by the slight sour taste mixed with the sweet.

“So?” Asked the older still standing next to the student catching his attention again. “Wanna help?”

The younger’s shining eyes glowed with amusement, looking intensely towards his guardian. “As long as the rookie doesn’t have a stick up his ass I don’t see a problem.”

Satoru laughed at the boy’s answer. He already knew he would agree since the beginning. It’s always been like that. Him trusting the kid with small tasks and Kimura agreeing. The part of asking came more out of respect than anything.

“By the way, I’ll need the new student’s information that the school collected. You tend to forget things.”

Gojo pouted. “How mean.~”

· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·

The first year students were currently in their classroom waiting for the teacher. None of them seemed to mind the tardiness, they were more interested in panda’s information about a new student.

“Did you hear about the transfer student coming today? They say he stuffed four of his classmates into a locker.” Mentioned Panda with certain uneasiness in his voice.

The Kimura boy put his arm in the table leaned his chin in his hand, not really paying attention to the conversation.

“He killed them?” Said Maki, asking the important cuestión.

Toge was equally as intrigued for the answer. “Okaka?”

“No, but gravely injured, apparently.” Panda reassured.

Maki didn’t seem that surprised nor interested by the answer. “Hmmm… well, if he’s cocky, I’ll wring him out.”

“Shake.”

Suddenly the three of them turned to the only one not participating in the conversation.

“What do you know about the new student, Akio?” The mentioned turned his head to his classmates, looking at them from behind the shades Gojo gifted him years ago, the same ones the man used when he was a student. “What did the idiot tell you?”

“Why do you assume he told me anything?” He asked honestly intrigued.

“Everyone knows you are Gojo’s favorite student. He trusts you anything. Now. Answer.” Said the only female in the place bluntly.

“Hmmm… well, other than what you already know… he told me-“ the red head was interrupted when the strongest sorcerer opened the door loudly and came rushing inside with a lot of energy.

“Here I am, my precious students.” Weirdly, (more than normal) he stared making gestures dramatically exaggerated like an announcer. “I’ll now… be introducing… the transfer student! Everyone, get excited!”

No one was exited.

“Get exited.” He pleaded in a whisper.

The Kimura boy smiled before speaking. “Maybe we’ll get excited once we meet the student.” He suggested.

“That won’t happen.” Said Maki, she was already tired and the classes just began. “I heard he’s an awfully sour one. I’m not going to create the mood for someone like that.” She readjusted herself in her sit, crossing her legs to one side and leaning her elbow on the back of her sit.

Akio sighted as he brushed his wolf cut hair with a hand. Yep, that’s so Maki of her.

“Shake”

Panda only hummed, agreeing with Maki.

Gojo sighted in defeat at the lack of excitement of the class. But what could he do? “Oh, well. Come on in!” He called.

Maki then rested her cheek on her palm now leaning on the table as she looked at the door, Gonna give him the silent treatment.

The door slide open softly contrary to what they felt the moment Yuta stepped foot inside.

A thick wave of cursed energy crashed against their senses. While Maki and Toge stared to sweat cold Panda was frozen in his place. Yuta doesn’t know how to keep his cursed energy from leaking out of him and it’s evidently affecting them.

Akio for his part, felt goosebumps arise on his nape. A primal instinct to challenge the newcomer and reaffirm his status as the strongest student made itself present. He definitely was excited now.

Unfortunately, all of that disappeared…

“I’m Okkotsu Yut-“

Once his classmates jumped against the boy. They didn’t even let him introduce himself.

Maki pierced the chalkboard with her spear, right next to Yuta’s head. Panda and Toge where by her side ready to back her up. “Is this some kind of test? You’re cursed.”

Akio turned to the calm looking sensei. His mission is to keep an eye on the boy (take care of him) but he never expected to have to protect him even from his friends.

The white haired man turned to the boy when he felt a stare and gave him a smile as he raised a hand, discreetly telling him to watch and leave it to him. Maybe.

Akio sighted again. He needs a sweet beverage.

“This is a place to learn curses. It’s not a place for the cursed to be.” Declared Maki with hostility.

Yuta looked taken aback and Akio had an idea why, so he spoke. “The number of people that die mysterious deaths or go missing in Japan is over 10,000 a year on average. Most of those are casualties of curses born from the negative emotions of people.” He leaned back crossing his arms and spreading his legs to get comfortable in his sit. “Among them are also malicious cases caused by curse users. Only curses can affect other curses. This where we learn curses to exorcise curses: Tokyo jujutsu High School.”

By the end of the speech Yuta lost all color on his face looking at Gojo. Tell me that ahead of time!

“Aaaaand you forgot to tell him that.” Ended Akio as they all turned to the culprit of the misunderstanding. Gojo, raised a hand in an apologetic way.

He seriously has a problem with forgetting important things.

Until he remembered one little important thing. “Oh, you all should back away quickly.” He suggested confusing the three students formerly threatening the newcomer.

Their questions were answered when a pair of hands came out of the chalkboard forcing them to step back.

“Do not…”

“Wait! Rika-chan!” Begged Yuta.

“…bully Yuta!” She attacked.

· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·

Long story short, Rika end up giving them a good bonk in the head, and the classroom was trashed. Even Akio had to stand next to Gojo when a chair was thrown in his direction.

“So as you can see, this is the boy cursed by Rika-chan, who just loves him…” Gojo made exaggerated gestures again. “Okkotsu Yuta-kun! Be nice to him, everyone!”

The three students hit in the head where annoyed. Akio was indifferent, he already knew. And Yuta looked close to fainting.

“If you attack Yuta, Rika-chan’s curse will activate… or not. Either way, be careful, everyone.”

Akio covered his snort faking a cough when his friends glared at him. And you’re telling them now?

Gojo turned to Yuta. “These guys are being all rebellious…”

“Oi.” Groaned Akio.

“Except for him” he added in a rush. “…so I’ll introduce them quick-like.”

Yuta listened atently but he had a feeling not even all his attention would save him from his teacher’s antics. And unknown to him, he was right.

Gojo pointed at Maki with his hand. “This is the cursed tool user, Zen’in Maki. She uses special tools to exorcise curses.” He turned to Toge. “This is the cursed speech user, Inumaki Toge. He can only speak in rice ball ingredients, so good luck conversing.” Said student raised a hind in greeting. “This is panda.” He added bluntly.

“I’m Panda. Nice to meet you.” Emphasized the puppet.

“And last but not least. The most experienced in cursed energy and the current strongest student in the school, Kimura Akio. He’ll be in charge of teaching you when I’m not around.” Announced the withe haired man pointing at the remaining student.

Even if you are around, though the tree other students.

“What do you mean by ‘current’?” Even though his words came bluntly he had a smile on his face. Fortunately for Yuta, the teenager’s calm posture with his hands in his pockets and smile, reassured him enough. “Welcome to the school Yuta-kun.”

“Well, there you have it.” Finalized Gojo, bumming Yuta.

He didn’t give me the explanation I wanted the most, cried the boy in his head. He wanted an explanation about the talking panda.

“Okay, now there are five first-years!” Yuta moved to stand next to Akio, the only one who didn’t attack him before, getting a smile from him. “For your afternoon jujutsu practice, you’ll be working in groups.” He raised his hands showing two fingers in one hand and three in the other. “First, Toge and Panda.”

The mentioned nodded. They’ve already worked together before.

“Maki, Yuta and Akio.” He announced.

Maki made a displeased sound that had Yuta jumping in his place. She just voiced disgust?!

Akio put his hand in the boy’s shoulder in a reassuring way, managing to calm him down, slightly.

“Now…” Gojo clapped his hands. “Go get ready.”

Without a word, the first years walked out of the trashed classroom to retrieve their things, all expect for the Akimura boy.

“I thought you would be in charge of supervising Yuta’s first mission. Why am I teamed up with him?” Asked the younger of the two once he was sure the others wouldn’t hear them. He leaned against the rim of a window. Sending two special grade sorcerers to keep Yuta in check seemed like overkill. If he was going that meant Gojo wasn’t.

Gojo’s smile dimmed slightly. “Toge and Panda are stronge, but I have a feeling the elders want to measure Panda’s capabilities.” His tone, as well as his expression, soured. He didn’t like the idea of his teacher being the elder’s target. “Their condition to Yuta’s freedom was someone capable of stoping him supervising his first week of missions. They want to know if he has a chance at controlling Rika. That’s where you come in.” Gojo turned his face to look at Akio, even though they had bandages and shades on, they looked into each others eyes. “I need you to guide him while I watch over Panda.”

Akio stayed silent for a moment processing the severity of the situation. A young boy’s life and their school’s principal were at stake.

The red headed nodded once. He won’t fail. “I won’t disappoint you.”

I know you won’t, thought Gojo relieved smiling softly.

· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·

After an awkward drive to their destination, where Maki looked out the window to avoid looking at the newcomer sitting next to her and the red head kept himself busy with his phone in the copilot sit, they finally arrived.

Yuta almost sighted in relief until he found himself confused by their location.

Maki and Yuta followed the red head currently occupied with his phone, exchanging messages with Gojo at the opposite side of the country.

“Am, excuse me. Where are we?” Asked Yuta finally braking the seemingly endless silence.

Akio and Maki stopped and looked at him over their shoulders. Maki huffed before continuing, leaving Akio to deal with the rookie.

Akio smiled softly at the boy. But not even that reassured the boy after what he heard. “This is an elementary school where some children have gone missing.” He informed before continuing walking after Maki, forcing Yuta to do the same to not be left behind.

“M-missing?” Flinched the boy.

Akio nodded not looking back. “It happens in places like this. It’s probably the work of a naturally-occurring curse.” The young sorcerer stopped once they reached Maki. They were finally in the right place to start. In the middle of the school’s yard.

“You’re saying the kids were kidnapped by a curse?”

The Kimura boy nodded as he looked at Yuta again. The poor rookie looked really out of place. “Yeah. Two children have gone missing so far.”

“Curses tend to settle in spots that many people have memories of.” The males turned to Maki once she decided it was finally worthy to speak. “School, hospitals… Places often remembered with negative emotions are a receptacle for them. As those emotions build up, they cause a curse to be born like it was here.”

Akio turned once again to Yuta, directing his words to the shorter boy. “That being said. We’re here to exorcise the curse and save the children, or if they’re dead, retrieve them… that’s your current mission.”

Yuta paled instantly. “Huh? Dead?”

“Unfortunately, Yuta…” he said as he fixed his shades in his face, momentarily showing him his glowing eyes and loosing the smile. “There’s no such a thing as a good curse.” He said in huskie voice.

Yuta gulped at the red head’s stare, he’s scary, he thought.

“Now, pay close attention to what I’m about to do. You’ll have to do it yourself next time.” Kimura lifted a hand and raised two fingers, chanting the words required. “Emerge from darkness, blacker than darkness. Purify that which is impure.”

Yuta looked up at the sky, in awe and confusion. There was a strange liquid-like thing spreading and obstructing the sunlight. “It’s turning into night?”

“It’s a veil. It’s a barrier that will smoke out the curse and keep you all from being seen by those outside. It’s easy to undo from the inside… Well” deeming it the right moment to leave, Akio turned around walked back from where he came from. But not without telling them some last words. “Good luck you two. And by the way…” once outside the closing veil he looked at Yuta over his shoulder. “Don’t die.”

Yuta stared sweating cold and panicking, die? Like, die die? I can’t die on my first day of school, right? Can I?

Outside the veil, Akio leaned back against the black car and took off his shades. Imbuing a little bit of cursed energy in his eyes he was able to see the signatures of those present inside. Curses and humans alike.

Maki’s, whose energy was barely visible, moved swiftly between the low grade curses, making them disappear in one move.

It never ceases to amaze me Maki’s talent with cursed tools, thought the Akimura boy as he smiled.

The next minutes went by with nothing interesting happening even tho Maki and Yuta walked gallantly in the halls. No curse dared get close to Yuta. Seems like Rika is successfully scaring them off.

Ring

Suddenly, the supervisor was interrupted by his phone ringing. Checking that it was Gojo he answered.

“Hellooooo~” said Satoru’s cheerful voice. “How are my precious students holding in there~”

Akio rolled his eyes at the older’s antics. “Nothing interesting at the moment. Maki exorcised a group of low grade curses a few minutes ago but other than that they seem to be scaring every curse away… or more, like Rika is scaring them.”

Gojo hummed.

“They still haven’t found the kids nor the biggest curse. Though, I doubt they’ll- uh?…” he was suddenly interrupted by said curse appearing, creating a ruckus, and sending his classmates flying through the air before eating them. “…”

“Hello? You there?”

“…”

“What happened.”

“Ummm”

“Akio?”

“The curse ate them.”

“…” Gojo was silent for a few seconds before… “uh?”

Akimura sighted as he closed his eyes. There was no use in watching since the curse’s energy hide those inside. He diced to rely on his sensing abilities. “They are alive in the curse’s stomach, although, they’re not the only ones.” He opened his eyes looking at the now passive curse enjoying its last meal. “They found the kids. Injured and possibly close to death but alive.”

Gojo hummed at the other side of the phone, digesting what he was hearing.

“Maki’s cursed energy seems erratic, tho. Posible poisoning. It’s not acting quick so I’ll give them a few minutes to figure a way out. I’ll interfiere if it becomes life threatening.” He finished the report, his eyes and senses never leaving the curse inside the veil.

“Sounds good~” said the clan head, sounding pleased. “Who knew you could be such a great sensei.~”

“Huh?”

“Keep up the good work. I leave them in your care.~” he hanged up.

Akio moved the phone in front of him, looking at it a few seconds in confusion. What was that?

He pocketed his phone again, paying attention to the action inside the veil.

He didn’t have to wait for much longer. He sensed a great spike in cursed energy before he saw something bursting out of the curse’s stomach. Not something, more like someone, thought Akio watching the gore scene of Rika tearing apart the other curse. That’s scary. He was internally thankful that he was outside of the veil. All the cursed blood flying in the air was stopped by the veil from reaching him.

His attention was brought to the group of kids nearing the veil covering the front gate. Poor Yuta was giving everything in himself to carry the kids and Maki away from the danger. He already promised he would change. He won’t be weak anymore.

Once he crossed the vanishing veil he collapsed, falling forward but instead of hitting the hard floor like he expected he found himself falling into a pair of strong arms.

Completely tired and slowly releasing the hold he had in the kids he looked up, at the owner of the arms. He swears what he saw was an angel. That vibrant flaming red hair glowing with the sun behind and the pair of jewels he has for eyes.

Akio smiled softly at the rookie. “You did it, Yuta. Good job.”

Yuta gave him a tired smile before letting his head fall in his classmates chest. So warm.

It’s been a tiring day.

· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·

Akio stud in front of the hospital’s window with his hands in his pockets, watching the sun set in the horizon. His shades protecting his eyes from the light even though he doesn’t need it.

The upper part of his uniform was missing. He gave it to Yuta because his was stained with blood everywhere. Akio was left with his almost skin thigh black shirt but not even the AC directly hitting him bordered him. His cursed technique helps regulate his temperature.

The 15 year old student was busy thinking about something Yuta told him.

“I don’t think Rika-chan cursed me. I think I might have cursed Rika-chan?”

It was something improbable. Only those with innate techniques could do it and Yuta doesn’t belong to any known clan nor is he a remanente of any extinct one. At least that’s what he thinks.

“What’s this, an epidemic? First Yuta was a little blue and now you?” Asked a playful voice behind him.

Akio smiled as he turned to Satoru behind him. “If that’s it I recommend you to keep distance. Your going to get infected.” Gojo smirked once he reached the Akimura’s boy side.

“What ya thinking?” He asked leaning his side agains the window.

The redhead turned to the sunset again watching the last rays of the sun hide behind the horizon. “Yuta asked me something. I don’t know if he tell you.”

Gojo remained silent, intrigued by what he had to say. Whatever Yuta said must be important for Akio to take his time to think about it. Gojo got comfortable in his place, turning his back to the window, leaning his head on the glass putting his hands in his pockets.

Understanding the silent message to continue, Akio spoke. ““I don’t think Rika-chan cursed me. I think I might have cursed Rika-chan.” It’s what he said.” He mentioned, turning to see Gojo’s reaction, but the older one put a hand on his chin in a thinking expression.

“Well… it’s not imposible. In the past, the best age of the sorcerers, there were a lot of powerful sorcerers. Many of them where not affiliated to any clan. They where lone wolfs and not interesting enough to the people like the higher ups. If they had children or not wasn’t relevant to keep them in check. They were forgotten as stories in the ancient data scrolls stored in different places also forgotten. But…” Gojo turned to Akio smirking widely and tilted his head. “You should know about that. After all, you are the descendant of an unaffiliated sorcerer with similar techniques.” Finding funny what he was about to say he got into Akio’s personal space, almost bumping noses. Akio rise a brown. “Sun and moon’s offspring.”

Akio groaned in annoyance covering his ears. “Ugh, who the fuck thought that was a good moniker?”

Gojo threw his head back laughing at Akio.

“No, I mean, seriously. Who fights with curses and thinks “oh, offspring is such a good complement for a name.” Who does that?” Argues Akio.

Gojo sighed in bliss at the young boy’s distress. “Those who have seen your techniques and your partial domain expansion can attest to that.”

Akio froze for a moment, blinking once. Blinking again before… “Aaahhhh, it was you.” He exclaimed irritated. No one other than Gojo has seen his work with his domain and survived. The only other once to witness it where curses that are already dead. “That fucking moniker stuck.”

Akio jumped to Gojo, trying to grab him by the head but white headed man jumped back, out of reach, and raised his hand in his known hand sign to activate his technique. “Bye bye~” he snickered before disappearing.

Akio clenched his fists and took a deep breath. “SATORUUUUUUUUUUU.”

He was scolded for yelling in the hospital.

AMATERASU | Jujutsu Kaisen

They called him "The sun and moon's love child"

Amaterasu, goddess of sun, and tsukuyomi, god of the Moon.

Born from non-sorcerers parents and during a total eclipse, the town where he was born easily noticed the new addition in the small place. But what made the news spread like wild fire was the baby's appearance.

Born from a brown haired mother and a black haired father, the child appeared with red flaming hair. And the moment he opened his eyes everyones breathe hitched. Gray almost white eyes like milk with a crescent withe moon 🌙 underneath the pupil almost surrounding it. Eyes that seemed to glow even in darkness.

The birth of the child brought great expectations. And the most religious people ironically considered him as the chosen one. The reincarnation of their God. The one they have been expecting for years.

The child became the messiah of the town. The family became rich from all the people coming to seek guidance even from a baby or just the opportunity to see him. And the jujutsu world took notice of the event.

The elders of the jujutsu world kept an eye on the baby for the first two years but lost interest when they realized that the kid was not especial in any way. The people where the only ones that belived so.

At first everyone in the town was delighted with the child. He brought prosperity to the town, wealth and recognition. But not everyone agreed with the idea. Those who didn't like a child basically having everyone trapped around his little finger stared spreading rumors. False rumors of the devil hiding in sheep's clothes.

Little by little, people believed those rumors to be true and the town divided in two. Those who believed in the messiah and those who thought him the to be the devil.

Everything got worse when in one of his walks with his 'servant', the child of 8 years stoped with his veré hands a fast rolling cart from hitting a younger girl in the middle of the road.

Every possibility left of the kid being normal was thrown out the window and the people believing him to be the devil were enraged.

They decided to act before the child could gain any more strength.

In a normal night were the people of the town slept peacefully, the 8 year old child laid wide awake on his futon. He had a bad feeling. Like something was about to happen.

His hunch was proven right the moment his 'servant' (someone he considered a Nani and a better parental figure than either of his parents) came barging in his room with urgency only to halt on the doorway by a katana piercing through her chest from behind.

Moon eyes open wide in horror watched everything and every ditail posible. From the fear in her eyes to the katana moving in slow motion towards him ready to cut his own head off his shoulders.

He doesn't know how but the next thing he knows he's in the middle of a burning old traditional Japanese house. The flames danced fiercely around him but none burned him like they did to all those in the house with the intention to kill him.

The survival of the child scared most of the residents in the town. None of the killers survived. His parents didn't survive. The servants didn't survive. No one but him lived.

Fearing the rage of the powerful child the elders looked for a way to take the childe away from the town and free them from the anomaly.

Looking everywhere they found a contact that assured them they had a way to take the problem from their hands. Unknown to them, the contact was none other than Nanami Kento, a student from jujutsu highschool, and he had just the right thing in mind.

· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·

"Ugh. Why am I here, sensei?" asked a very displaced 17 year old, white haired jujutsu student with his hands behind his head. The Tokyo's school principal and his student paced with calm towards their destiny. "I'm a sorcerer not a babysitter."

Yaga sighed heavily. "It's because I consider you the best one to talk to the kid." And to concentrate in something else than getting depressed, he thought.

Not finding anything that could convince his teacher to let him go Gojo grumbled under his breath about how all of this is a waste of time.

Faster than he would have liked, Gojo found himself walking along the halls of a traditional Japanese house, a big one at that, following a non-sorcerer man.

"Has there been a change in the boy?" Asked Yaga, concentrated in the reason they traveled so far.

"None, sir." Answered the man in a clam voice. "Have you come to a veredict about what happened?" He asked.

Yaga nodded once. Since the town didn't have the resources to find an expert forensic and jujutsu technical college was kind enough to send Nanami and Shoko to investigate. "It seems that one of the servants from the Kimura family may have thought that all the members of the family were dead and blew up the kitchen, starting the fire." He said in a calm tone. "That's as accurate as we can be considering most of it was unrecognizable by the fire."

Gojo rolled his eyes behind his shades. Any decent sorcerer would be able to recognize the signs of cursed energy in that place. And considering the damage, the signature of cursed energy they are approaching and knowing the only survivor, the child's probably a second grade or semi-first grade level. But it's not like they can say.

'Hey, did you know that your good for nothing small town produced a stronge sorcerer child?'

Just like always, they have to hide to cursed world from normal people.

"He is in here." Announced the man nodding to the sliding door in front of him. "He is calm boy not really that energetic, so don't expect much. But he is a good kid."

Gojo was slightly surprised by the honesty behind the man's words. After he heard that the elders of the town wanted to get rid of the child he expected hatred from everyone towards the young sorcerer.

Yaga nodded again before turning to Gojo. "Can you keep the kid some company while I talk with Koshi-San?"

The special-grade sorcerer understood the silent message. Yaga had nothing that should be keep private from him, but the reason he dragged him all the way to the town was to talk to the kid. "Hai hai." He answered nonchalantly.

Yaga stared at him for a moment before turning to Koshi. The man understood the 'need' to look for somewhere to talk alone and guided him to another room.

Finally watching them turn around the corner Gojo, grumbling under his breath, slammed the door open. "Hey kid." Announced his presence with a loud voice.

He already expected the boy to flinch and try to stay away from him. It's already happened before. His height, loud voice and sometimes even his eyes scare people away. But he was surprised by what happened.

In the room there lay an unused futon, the child was sitting in the engawa at the other side of the room, leaving the other sliding door open for everyone entering his room to find him watching the backyard. The child didn't move a single muscle nor did he appear to have notice his presence, but Gojo already suspects that the child knew he was there even before he opened the door.

The next thing that happened left Gojo speechless and with a sense of Deja vu. The kid turned his body slightly to the side and turned his head to see the intruder.

The moment the kid reveled his eyes Gojo was brought back to his own childhood (if he could call it that), the same eyes that used to look back at him trough the mirror were looking at him from the child now in front of him. Those light grey and glowing orbs had such an intensity that Gojo feared for a moment his own cursed eyes wouldn't stop the kid from inspecting his soul.

He was like him.

And yet not.

The kid's cursed energy flowed through his body the same way blood did in his veins. But his six eyes could easily see that by the amount of energy alone the kid was already a first grade sorcerer. The only reason Gojo didn't sense it before was because he was suppressing it. He doubts the child is aware of it, or had any kind of training to learn it, and the fact he is doing it unconsciously speaks of innate talent.

"Is there something I can help you with, sir?" Asked the boy in a soft yet firm voice.

Okay, maybe the child wasn't that much like him. Gojo wasn't respectful with others at his age. (Who is he kidding? He isn't, even now as an already grown up man)

Just like with his domain expansion, Gojo processed all his thoughts in a second and made his decision right then and there. He won't let people do to this child what they did to him.

Gojo took off his shades walking towards the boy before lowering himself to the child's level and looked at him in the eyes.

Glowing blue meet slightly surprised glowing light grey.

"Actually, I'm here to help you." He said with a smile in his face. It wasn't smug nor was it fake. It was completely genuine.

"Help me?" Asked the boy rising a red eyebrow. "How?"

Gojo extended his hand prepared for a hand shake. "If you take my hand I can show you."

Completely confused now, the Kimura boy looked at the withe haired's hand then at the owner's eyes. He didn't sense any kind of hostility or deception from the older.

Maybe he was a little naive to believe the stranger in front of him, but a hunch told him to take the hand. Who knows what could happen. Maybe he'll regret it... or maybe he won't. There's only a way to find out.

The moment the read haired boy took the stranger's hand he end up sealing his fate.

Everyone will know the power of the sun goddess and moon god's child's power.

And they'll either respect him or fear him.

•| A Not So Stolen Youth |•

It was early in the morning, every kid was either at school or at home because they’re sick. All except for one.

Thirteen walked with tranquility through the groups of trees scattered all over the town. He found that the only onces that walked there were a few really young kids, other than that, the coast is completely clear.

But what is not completely clear is his mind. The day before he saw something that brought back awful memories. He found out, his father is not the only man like that in the world and he isn’t the only one like him out there. He would like to say that he doesn’t understand Billy completely, but he does.

The teenage has moments of calmness when he usually keeps to himself or even glances at him as if inspecting his soul, and moments of complete chaos when he is hostile against anything and anyone near him.

Billy was angry at his father, that much was evident, but he couldn’t do a thing because he knew it was useless. That was a feeling he could relate a little bit to well.

It happened too often to him in the lab. Loosing his papa’s respect brought a lot of punishment with it and answering it only left him in pain. His only solution was to hold back and resist. But that led to future explosions where he sent his guards flying or breaking an entire room with a scream.

He was labeled as dangerous and forced to stay isolated.

He was thinking of ways to help make him feel better but nothing came to mind other than a present.

But what?

Or maybe, some company? That’s what he wanted when he was in the lab. Maybe that’s what Billy needs at home.

Before he could think about other options, his senses detected something. He heard a pair of soft footsteps quite some distance further in front of him but instead of dreading to find the person a familiar feeling made itself present in the back of his mind. He waited.

As silent as ever, he walked cautiously towards the sound.

Both kids that found themselves in front of one another gasped in surprise. They know each other.

The curly haired girl smiled at the boy receiving a smile in return.

“Eleven.” Whispered the boy, walking closer to her.

“Thirteen.” Once close enough they engulfed each other in a big hug, giggling, happy to realize they both basically survived.

The kids pulled away, still connected by their arms, smiling like no other day.

They had so much to talk about.

•| A Not So Stolen Youth |•

“-and then, she taught how to skateboard.” Commented the boy with glee.

They have been talking for about an hour about what’s happened the last year after escaping the lab and getting in contact with the upside down. So far, everything’s been peaceful.

He was happy to know that she was also taken care off by a good guy, even though she puts a kind of weird expression when she mentions him, she stills seems to trust him a lot too.

“But…” he made a pause and sunk in the log they were both seating at the reminder of what happened a few hours ago. “Her papa…” he turned his eyes from his joined hands to the attentive look of eleven. “He is like our papa.”

Eleven gasped softly at the revelation.

“She and Billy hide me.” His lips curved a little at the sides. He always gets a warm and fluffy feeling in his chest at the reminder of people that care about his safety. “She gave me clothes.” He gripped the fabric of the blue hoodie in his chest. The same that keeps his body heat from escaping. “And a name. Magnus.”

Eleven gave him a close-lipped smile. They don’t know each other as well as she would like too because they were separated in the lab. They met only after the rest of the kids disappeared and their father needed more power to connect with the unknown world. But couldn’t interact that much in a friendly way under the scrutinizing eyes of their handlers. He always wore a frown accompanied with tired eyes. So she is happy to see him finally smile, even in the slightest.

“And you?” He asked, giving her the opportunity to express something that might be bothering her.

“Hopper is good.” She nodded. “But he lies.” The kid raised his eyebrows in surprise. “He says, one day I’ll leave to see my friends but that never happens. He promised soon, but soon never comes.”

Thirteen lowered his head in sadness. He knows that feeling, or he knew, before living with his only friend.

“He says it’s dangerous, that it’s for my protection.” The kid wrapped an arm around her in a side hug to comfort her.

In moments like that he wished he was more like magneto and fight for their freedom.

But he couldn’t, he was just a kid after all. All he could do was make her aware that she’s not alone.

•| A Not So Stolen Youth |•

A certain blonde haired teenage boy was currently tightening a screw on the engine of his blue baby Camaro.

He was finishing changing the air filter. After what happened the day before with his father he has been looking for ways to release some pent-up pressure. He already said goodbye to his last hook up an hour ago, he doesn’t know where Max is because she was late and he left her to skate home alone and he already worked out in the living room but nothing seemed to make his anger decrease.

Billy huffed once he was finished, cleaning the sweat in his forehead with the back of his dirtied hand. It wasn’t enough but that’ll have to do.

“Jesus.” Exclaimed the blond once he turned around and found the boy behind him, startling him. Weirdly attentive to what he was doing. “What the hell are you doing there? Are you a creep?” He asked with annoyance. He had almost sent the tool in his hand flying.

The kid just kept looking at him and the car with his big blue eyes and shrugged. He didn’t know what ‘creep’ means.

Billy raised a brow at the look of wonder in the kids face. He has seen it a few times before, directed to him, like trying to figure him out, which makes him edgy, but this time it was directed more to his car. “Never seen a car before?” He asked mockingly.

Unknown to him, the first time the boy saw a car was when he escaped from the lab. Ever since that day, the younger one has been greatly interested in the weird machines that roll faster than any adult he has ever seen runs.

Billy furrowed his brows when the only answer he got was the kid leaning his head to the side, still looking at the car.

Was he really that stupid? No, he couldn’t be. They would have already found him if that was the case, but he would have to live under a rock to not know what a car is.

“What, cat got your tongue, brat?” Thirteen shook his head and stick his tongue out to demostrarte it was still there making Billy huffed and turned to his car.

What a weird kid.

He grabbed the car’s hood and slam it shut to make sure it was closed.

“Cool.” Alluded the boy walking closer to the drivers side.

“What?” Thirteen glanced at Billy for a moment before returning to the inside of the vehicle repeating his word.

“Cool.” He is not completely sure if his using correctly the word Max taught him. ‘A word to describe something that’s better than amazing.’ Is what she said, and that is exactly what he thinks about the car.

“Huh, at least you have taste.” Said Billy as he wiped his hands in a towel he had hanging from his short’s waistband. Until he got an idea. Something that would help him destress and he used to do it a lot in California. “Hey brat.”

Thirteen turned towards Billy, not knowing what ‘brat’ means but understanding he wanted his attention. He blinked a few times, watching the weird look in the teenager’s eyes. He had an idea.

Billy would never in his life know what led him to do what he did, but the next thing he knows, he is driving top speed in one of the many lonely roads in the outer sides of Hawkins with the kid in the copilot seat. He loves to use the backroads.

He thought the kid would be scared shitless, however, the kid was grasping the seatbelt like his life depends on it (because it does) with the biggest smile Billy has ever seen.

But he doesn’t care that the kid didn’t get scared he was too concentrated in the adrenaline coursing through his veins at the speed to actually pay attention. He didn’t even light the cigarette between his lips because it wasn’t needed.

Billy whooped in ecstasy and bobbed along the surprisingly not so loud music. It was more important the roar of the engine than the beat coming from the stereo.

“That’s what I’m talking about.” Cheered Billy with his always sharp smile.

But that wasn’t the best part, he was waiting for the right moment to put his car modifications to the test. In a way he couldn’t in the crowded city of California.

His smile widened when he saw what he was looking for. A wide straight doble lane road.

It’s show time.

He stepped on the break and pulled the hand brake simultaneously, then turned the wheel completely to one side in a second. The car instantly followed the action, turning with so much force skidding the tires in the street. Making a U turn by drifting.

Billy laughed loudly while the kid beside him screamed for his life. The wheels scraped the floor until the vehicle came to a stop in the other side of the road. Facing the opposite direction.

Not waiting for anything, he pushed the hand break back down and step on the gas. The wheels screeched against the ground, leaving marks, before moving at full speed back to the house.

At the speed he was driving it only took him 10 minutes to arrive.

He got out of the car after killing the engine and lit the cigarette between his lips, taking a drag as if it was pure oxygen he was inhaling. Finally he felt a little bit better.

So lost in his relief he didn’t pay attention to the passenger in his car. He only turned his head back when he heard a thud. He found the passenger seat empty and the door opened. He huffed thinking the kid just left without closing the door but he stop when he went around the car and found the kid basically face planted in the dirt while giggling.

Billy scoffed a laugh almost sending the cigarette in mouth flying. He was positive the kid was high with adrenaline. He saw the kid try to stand up in his jelly legs only to fall on his side.

“What the hell?” Billy didn’t need to turn around to know who that was. He merely rolled his eyes when the redhead rushed by him to get to the kid. “What did you do to him?” She asked when the kid tried to stand up again with her help but stumbled to the side like he was drunk. She got even more confused when she heard him giggle.

“I fixed your damn brat.” He grumbled taking a drag of his cigarette before throwing it to the ground and returning to the house. He wanted to take a shower.

Max looked between the retreating back of her step brother and the kid seating in the dirt with a big smile in his face.

Could it be possible that Billy changed his mind?

No, that is not something Billy could ever do.

But either way, she was relieved that he was at least tolerating the kid’s presence.

•| A Not So Stolen Youth |•

If Max thought they had made a progress with Billy after the ride he had with Magnus. She was wrong.

The very next day his anger returned when he saw her talking to Lucas. There was no problem with that, she didn’t plan to be part of their club of hypocrites anyway.

Well, that was her plan, until the very next day she wanted to go to the arcade to play dig dug and forget everything only to be tricked in to the breakroom by Lucas himself. They argued about the veracity of the fanciful story Lucas told her ensuring that it was the truth.

Leaving the arcade Billy saw him at the door. At first he acted eerily calm while accusing her of disobeying and lying. But a silent threat was made evident later in the afternoon when Billy broke her skateboard when reversing in his car.

It was his way of telling her he could ‘accidentally’ break something without a problem.

He became a ticking time bomb and she didn’t want to be there to see it explode because she would be the collateral damage, and possibly with her, Magnus too. Even though he has mostly ignored the kid in the last days, it was obvious the anger he was holding in.

Taking every posible outcome Max took a decision. She’ll go back to Cali to her father and she’ll take Magnus with her.

The kid already had a new name, and no one will be looking for a kid in another city, miles away from were he was.

That’s how she found herself in this position. Fidgeting with her fingers inside her hoodie pockets, feeling the money between her fingers and watching attentively at Magnus sitting in her bed and messing with her Walkman.

She got the money by telling her mother that she wanted to buy a new shirt but she wanted the money to buy it herself and avoid any kind of harsh comments from Neil if she went with them to the mall in the neighboring town. Her mother, illusioned with the possibility of her daughter buying something more feminine, gladly gave her double the money she needed to buy the shirt. She thanked the heavens her mother did because she forgot the amount of money it’ll cost to buy two bus tickets.

She forgot a slight detail. The distance between her and her father was much more now that she is in Hawkins than when she was in Cali, and the tickets would be more expensive.

She already prepared two bags with things for her and Magnus. In that precise moment she has the perfect opportunity to leave with him. Her parents aren’t home and they’ll come back until night and Billy was too busy working on his muscles for his next hook up of the night to notice.

Gaining some courage Max sat next to the kid in her bed. She took a breath and spoke. “Mag-“

She was interrupted by the sound of the doorbell, someone calling at the door.

The kid raised his head, looking between Max and the bedroom’s closed door. He was to concentrated on the Walkman that he didn’t pay attention to the footsteps at the front door. It’s not like Billy’s blasting music trough the house helped at all.

He was already used to the volume of the music, but hearing it with the door open still hurt his head. At least the wood helps to drown out the sound. But he was still relieved that it’s not as loud as the alarms in the lab. That was a real headache.

He jumped from the bed when doorbell sounded again. He needed to hide. He turned to the window but stopped, if the person in the door somehow comes to the backside of the house he’ll be screwed. He turned to the bed. He doesn’t fit under it. As his last and only option, the kid threw himself inside the closet and closed the door, always leaving a crack to let the light come inside.

Max pressed her lips together trying to suppress a laugh. For a moment he looked like a headless chicken.

Her poorly covered smile disappeared when she heard her stepbrother yell at the next ring. “Max, are you getting that or what?”

Exasperated with him she yelled her answered “Okay.” She opened stood up stomping her way out of the room, closing the door behind her

“I swear to God Max.” Fumed the blond getting an eye roll and a glare from his sister when she walked by him. He just proceeded to lift the weights again.

From the closet, Magnus could slightly hear the door opening and closing over the music, along with Max’s voice from the other side of the door, indicating that now she was outside with whoever was at the door. He couldn’t tell what they were talking about because the music muffled their voices.

He waited for a moment, relieved that Max at least sounded like she knew the person outside. He was also aware that it wasn’t Neil, he could have heard his truck parking or his gruff voice booming in the house.

He waited a little while until she finally came back, closing the door behind her. She turned to Magnus watching the window in wariness. She knew why. Lucas was outside of the window. “Magnus.” She called for his attention.

He turned to her, blinking a few times.

“I… ammm.” She fidget in her place looking for the words to say. She didn’t know why she was so nervous, she just made up her mind and decided she’ll find out what’s really happening with Lucas and his group because deep down she still wishes to have friends. “I’ll live with the stalker for a few hours. He says he has proof or something.”

“Where?” Came the silent question from the kid. Max almost didn’t hear it with Billy’s blasting music coming through the door.

“To the old junkyard.” Magnus lifted a brown and tilted his head slightly to the side. There was nothing in there other than trash and forgotten stuff. Nevertheless, he nodded, understanding that she is going there like really few other teenagers do. “Okay, then. I’ll be back.” She said, making the reference of the terminator movie even though Magnus didn’t catch it.

She turned to one of the two opened windows. The one closest to the bed. She stepped on the woodshed outside before stopping and turning to Magnus who was seating in her closet.

“Don’t talk with Billy if he doesn’t talk to you, by the way. He’s not in the mood and can get cranky.” Magnus smiled at the thought but nodded again.

Don’t talk to Billy. Copy.

Max said a soft goodbye before exiting when she heard the boy outside telling her to speed up. He even heard her commenting that whatever they were doing better be worth it.

Minutes later after she left, Magnus stayed in her closet. He was to engrossed in the Walkman she borrowed him.

The interest came when he returned from the store he likes to visit (steal from) with a cassette tape he found behind the garbage dump.

He put on the headphones and changed the tapes the way Max instructed him to. He pressed play instantly jumping in his place and accidentally trowing the headphones. The volume was too high. Even with the headphones in the floor he could hear it clearly.

He decreased the volume to the minimum before putting the headphones back on. The rhythm of the music was somewhat similar to the songs Billy hears when exercising but not as scandalous. He turned the Walkman over to see the tape through the see through cover. The letters in the side said ‘Call Me by blondie’ and something else he couldn’t read due to the blurred sharpie. He likes it though.

He bobbed his head to the rhythm of the music, not caring that he could hear Billy’s music through the headphones. He liked it. He found his taste in music.

Still moving his head to the beat, he stood up and walked to the window farthest from the bed. He sat on the window sill dangling his feet for a couple of second before jumping out. He looked at the full woodshed beside him before returning to the shed. Walkman in hand.

He’ll wait for Max in there.

•| A Not So Stolen Youth |•

It’s been a few hours and Max still hasn’t retuned. Magnus got bored since he doesn’t know where Max’s tapes are and he can’t read so well, so he decided to steal an apple from the Hargroves’ fridge.

Meanwhile, the blond teenager was done exercising, taking a shower and currently sharpening his look before his date (hook up). He sprayed hair product in the hair locks that fell on his forehead. Turning over the bottle of colon, he spread a few drops of the liquid in his wrist, even going as far as to spread a little bit in the southern area.

He turned and posed in front of the mirror, smiling with satisfaction at the result. Taking a drag from his previously lit cigarette he leaned forward and blew the smoke against his reflexión, winking. Yep, he was ready.

His smile was erased once he heard someone calling at the door. He noticed the rush in the knock even over his blasting music. “Billy?” He knew that voice. The reason for witch his father decided it was a good idea to move.

Kind of.

“Yeah, I’m a little bit busy in here, Susan.” He answered uninterestedly.

“Open the door. Right now.” He mentally cursed when he heard his father’s commanding voice in the other side. There was no way around this.

Genuinely curious he finally opened the door finding his father frowning face and the always present worried face of Susan shielding herself behind the man.

“What’s wrong?” He cut to the chase.

Neil wasn’t at all impressed by his son’s bluntness. “Why don’t you tell us?”

“Because I don’t know.” He answered with obviousness in his tone. They just appeared in his door insinuating something that he isn’t aware of and yet, he is not surprised. Everything that goes wrong for Neil is always somehow his fault. No matter what.

“We can’t find Maxine-” Said Susan.

“And her window’s open.” Interrupted the man like the boss that he believes himself. Billy faltered for a second, looking in another direction before regaining himself. Even he was surprised. She was in her room with the brat a few hours ago. “Where is she?” Commanded Neil.

“I don’t know.”

“You don’t know?” Scoffed the Man like his son was the worst dumbass in the world, annoying the younger.

“Look, I’m sure she just, I don’t know, went to the arcade or something.” Explained Billy, still not finding the force in his voice, kicking himself for it, and panicking internally. To avoid looking at the rising anger in his father eyes he went to the closet to retrieve his previously selected leather jacket. “I’m sure she is fine.”

Nike wasn’t having any of it. “You were supposed to watch her.” He commented, like he was just making an obvious observation.

Billy could clearly hear the covered anger under those words. But he couldn’t stop himself from arguing. He was getting annoyed.

He sighed. “I know dad. I was. It’s just you guys were three hours late, and, well, I have a date.” He slipped on the jacket and turned towards the man ready to face it and just leave. “I’m sorry, okay?”

“So that’s why you’ve been staring at yourself in the mirror like some faggot instead of watching your sister?”

That did it.

“I have been looking after her all week, dad. Okay?” He snapped. “She wants to run off, then that’s her problem, all right?” Neil licked the interior of his cheek, concealing his anger with an eerie façade. “She’s 13 years old. She shouldn’t need a full-time babysitter. And she is not my sister.” He turned to the radio. Stopping the music abruptly only to feel his heart drop to his stomach when Neil grabbed him by the colar of his shirt and slammed him against the shelves beside the closet.

“What did we talk about?” Asked Neil in a condescending tone. Practically whispering it in Billy’s face.

The teenager panted in anger and fear. He couldn’t answer fast enough when Neil slapped him in his left cheek, making him groan.

Susan, who once again couldn’t leave the scenario only looked the other way, feeling guilty for putting him in that situation but not doing anything fearing she could be in his position.

Neil grabbed Billy’s chin to force him to look at him before pointing with the same hand. “What. Did. We… talked about?” He made emphasis in each word.

“Respect and responsibility.”

“That is right.” Answered the man, pleased to have him under control once again. “Now, apologies to Susan.”

There was silence for a few seconds. Neil waiting for Billy while the blonde swallowed his pride and fear. “I’m sorry, Susan.” He said, never tacking his eyes from his father’s.

“It’s okay, Neil, really-“ she was interrupted when the man once again rises his voice.

“No, it’s not okay. Nothing about his behavior is okay. But he’s gonna make up for it.” He grumbled the last part. He finally stepped back to turn to look at Susan. “He’s gonna call whatever whore he’s seeing tonight and cancel their date.” He said as if it was the most normal thing to say. “And then he’s gonna go find his sister. Like the good, kind, respecting brother that he is.” He turned once again to his son, already finished with the humiliation. “Isn’t that right, Billy?”

Billy looked at his father with watery eyes hiding all that hate and anger he harbors towards the man. If only he could make him pay or just leave.

“It’s that right?” Yelled Neil when his first answer was only silence.

“Yes, sir.” He said softly.

Neil sighted in annoyance, leaning closer to his son. “I’m sorry, I couldn’t hear you.”

“Yes. Sir.” He repeated. This time with more courage.

“Find max.” Demanded Neil with finality turning around and leaving the room, intimidating Susan enough for her to step away from his way.

Billy finally let the tears spill once the door was slammed close and hit the wall beside him. He hated him with all his being. He wanted to fight back, punch him or something, but the last time he tried to do it didn’t end well for him.

Sucking his feelings up and drying his tears, he left his room to the back of the house. He thanked the heavens he parked the car in the back really close to were he needs to go. The shed.

Faster than he thought, Billy reached the wooden door and gentler than he wanted to, he opened the door (still slamming it open). “Hey, brat.” He grumbled once inside.

Magnus raised his head looking at him with wide eyes. He knew it was Billy the one walking (stomping) towards the shed. But it still surprised him when the teenage barged in the shed and called for his attention, loudly.

Billy opened his mouth about to yell but stopped. He didn’t want to scare the kid that looked like a frightened rabbit ready to bolt and end up running around like a headless chicken looking for Max for scaring him, or for his father to find him hiding a kid in the shed and get his butt kicked.

Instead he took a breath before talking. “Where’s Max?”

The answer he got was the kid blinking in bewilderment hugging a comic to his chest.

“Ugh, for fucks…” he mumbled under his breath. “Do you know where is Max?” He repeated in a gentler voice, clearly containing his annoyance.

Magnus nodded his head slowly. Max told him to not talk to Billy if he didn’t speak to him first, she didn’t say anything about not telling him where she is.

Billy raised his eyebrows expectantly. “Okay, and?”

“The old junkyard.” He answered softly.

Damn. Now he is in trouble. He doesn’t know where that is. He slightly fidgeted in his place. “Do you know how to get there?”

Magnus nodded a slowly, still with the comic in his hands.

“Okay, then get in the car.”

Magnus instantly light up. He didn’t care that Billy used a commanding voice, he was just happy to get a raid again.

The kid quickly rushed out of the shed as silent as a mouse with an annoyed teenager following him.

Billy was already donde for the night, but unfortunately and unknown for him, it would be the longest and most eventful life of his entire life.

To say that Billy was surprised is an understatement. A whole week came and went without any inconvenience.

The asshole he has as a father isn’t even suspicious that there’s basically a fifth person living with them. In the shed, but still under their roof.

He is never, ever, going to say it out loud but he admires the guts Max has to look at Neil during diners and give no hint of any other emotion than the hate and forced respect she already harbors towards the man.

He became a silent witness of her plan. Watching her pretend to be tired earlier in the nights and leave to her room to rest only to jump through her window the next second to hang out with the boy in the shed.

And talking about the boy. The only way Billy could describe him is, strange. The boy is as silent as a mouse. He appears and disappears without making a noise. Which is creepy in the most part but thankfully helpful.

The asshole of his father has been busy recreating his righteous façade in front of everyone in Hawkins to actually pay attention to any mistake or misbehavior he does.

He could even bet that it has been the best week he’s had in years.

As for Thirteen, he’s living the best three weeks of his entire life.

Clean clothes instead of a gown, a roof to protect him, outside of the lab, learning to read comics and with a real friend.

Max even brought him to the arcade once, in the night and when it was about to close. It didn’t end that well as she thought it would. That night she found out the boy has a sensitive hearing after he bolted out of the place. ‘Too much noise’ is what he said. Since the arcade wasn’t an option anymore she came up with another idea. She would teach him how to skate.

Fortunately, she had her skateboard with her.

It was to be expected that Thirteen would fall a few times, it was his first time in his life doing a physical activity and didn’t have any kind of coordination with his feet.

When they went back to the house, Thirteen was covered in dirt, a couple of bruises and scratches but he had such a big smile in his face that only by looking at it Max couldn’t help but do the same.

Little by little Thirteen has started to open more to Max and vice versa, making it obvious that he is comfortable with her. He likes to hear about her day in the school with the other kids, the way she tells the story of a group of stalkers reminds him of the way she reads the comics. And she likes that she can openly talk about whatever she wants without the fear o being judge.

Things are working better than they both expected.

Until the day everything would change finally arrived.

Halloween.

Max loves Halloween and she’s made it clear every time she tells him stories of what she did back in Cali. She wanted him to come with her this year but after what happened in the arcade he is a little uneasy.

Besides, the only reason he wanted to be part of a big group of kids was to make a friend. He was looking for someone to help him stop being alone, and now that he has Max there’s no reason to go out there that much. Now the fear of being found is the only thing that remains in his mind.

“Still don’t want to go with me?” Asked Max to the kid seating in her closet.

The boy smiled and shook his head.

“You could use a sheet to cover yourself completely like in the E.T. movie I showed you. The group of stalkers will be there…” at least, she hopes they’ll be there after her step brother almost ran over them with the car after school. “We’ll meet in the street for trick or treat.”Thirteen frowned a little, considering the pros and cons in his head but the worry was still evident in his face. “Still don’t want to?”

The boy pressed his lips together before shaking his head.

Max was internally disappointed but she understood his fear. She already tried running away to her biological father when she found out they were moving from Cali to Hawkins. She was just as paranoid and worried. She only lasted a few hours away from her house, and she doesn’t how log has the kid been hiding.

“Are we still up for sweets and comics, though?” She asked getting an instant nod from the boy with a big smile.

She was confused for a second when she saw his smile fall and glance at the door. The boy slide the door of the closet almost completely, avoiding being engulf by total darkness, just in time when her mother opened her bedroom door.

“Sweetie, do you have your costume yet?” She asked in her always flowery and nervous tone. Max still doesn’t get why she is so jittery with her own daughter.

“Yeah, this.” Max rose the mask of Michael Myers and fake knife she had in her hands. She already had her black coverall that belonged to her father on. The measures were changed to fit by Susan herself a year ago and fits perfectly.

Her mother gave her a little forced smile. “Are you sure? I could try to make something with the things in the closet. There’s still time.” She recommended, pointing at the closet in the hallway.

Max pressed her lips in a thin line. Comments like that are common from her mother. She knows that Susan would like to have a more feminine daughter. One that prefers to use make up. One that has girls as friends to go shopping with instead of boys to skateboard with in the neighborhood. One that likes princesses and romance instead of monsters and assassins.

But she wasn’t like that and she’s didn’t want to be like that.

“No. This is fine.” She said.

Her mother nodded with the forced smile still in her face. “Okay then. Am. Have fun.” Not knowing what else to say she turned back and closed the door behind her.

Max let out the breath she was holding. Why everything in her life has to be weird?

She turned to the closet when she heard it slide open. The boy looked at her with his brows furrowed in worry. She looked upset.

Max understood the look. Her friends used to look at her the same way back in Cali. “It’s just-“ She pointed at the door with her thumb but didn’t know what to say or to explain. “I-“ she was interrupted when Billy passed by the door saying her name in a singsong tone.

“Max~” Even though it sounded like he was happy Max could still identify the dangerous threat deep down.

“Just a minute.” She yelled when she heard his footsteps going further in the hall. She turned back to the kid as she walked backwards to the door. “Comics and sweets when I return?”

The boy nodded.

“Max. I’m leaving.” Shouted Billy from the front door, his singsong tone completely gone.

Feed up with him she opened the door and yelled her answers rushing down the hall. “I’m coming.”

Thirteen blinked a few times, watching in curiosity at the opened door. He still doesn’t understand their bond. They seem to care and know about the other but act so hostile.

Max closed the front door behind her, already out of the house, finding Billy leaning against his car with a lit cigarette in his mouth. He was invited to a costume party and yet, his costume was a leather jacket covering his shirtless torso, fingerless black gloves, dark jeans and his usual boots. That wasn’t even a costume, but when you have the popularity Billy does, nobody gives a shit.

“What, the rat is not coming to be a looser with you?” He asked taking the cigarette out of his mouth, taking a final drag and throwing it in the floor before opening the car’s door.

Max threw him a side glance, not at all agreeing with the way he speaks.

“He is a boy and no. He wants to stay.” Billy turned to his stepsister, looking at her over the car.

“The brat better not blow the cover because I swear to god Max.” He threatened.

Max rolled her eyes as she got in the passenger sit. As if she didn’t know what could happen if Neil finds the boy. “I already told you, nobody’ll know he is there.”

“Hey.” scolded the older boy once inside. “Watch. Your attitude.” He threatened, making a pause to be sure Max understand he is being serious.

She understood. Max looked at the front, avoiding the glare Billy threw at her.

He huffed in annoyance turning on the engine and driving out.

But he couldn’t help the question that lingered in his mind.

What kind of monster is that guy for the kid to rather stay in a strangers house than to go back home?

He slightly tightened his hold in the wheel.

He shouldn’t be thinking about it. It’s not like it’s his problem. Why should he care about a coward?

Unknown to the step-siblings on their way to celebrate halloween, Thirteen was still in Max’s room searching through the box full of comics a few that he could take to the shed.

Even though he can’t read that well he loves to watch the colorful pictures of the stories. Even more when those are telling Magneto’s story.

He feels like he can identify himself with him a little. Their powers are similar, they both can control things with their minds but magneto only controls metals while thirteen controls any kind of material.

But his story is the most intriguing. He sees magneto as someone really brave, confronting the masses for the opportunity to free himself and those who are like him. And he is feared for his capabilities, just like it happened to him in the lab.

The day he finally unleashed his powers was to protect himself from the people who tasered him on his father’s orders. He screamed and sent flying everyone in the room against the walls, breaking the white tiles. They feared him that day.

He just wants to be as brave as Magneto to confront those who wronged him.

He was in his voyage when he heard the always heavy footsteps of Neil. He knew both him and Susan were in the house due to the sounds they make, but Neil was getting to close to comfort, and the door of the room was open.

He grabbed the two comics he already found and jumped trough the open window, squatting down once he landed to reduce the noise to the minimum.

He acted in the right moment because once he was out Neil stoped at the door when he caught something moving in his peripheral vision.

The man furrowed his eye brows as he entered the room. It was a mess by his standards, just like Billy’s. But the place looked empty of any presence.

No one could fit under the bed and the closet had only clothes, the only option left was the open window that let the autumn wind enter.

The boy outside was tiptoeing along the backside of the house without making a single sound, still crouched. He turned around the corner and pressed his back to the wall just before the adult stuck his head out of the window. He waited patiently, keeping his breathing even. He could still hear him breathing heavily by the window, inspecting the surroundings.

Assured that everything was in order the man grunted an went back inside, not before closing the window and locking it from the inside. It’s not like that would stop Thirteen but the man didn’t know.

The boy waited some more time, just to be sure. He heard his footsteps reach the living room and take a seat in the old couch that creaked under his weight accompanied by Susan’s voice.

When the coast was clear he walked calmly back to the shed with the comics in hand ready to wait for Max to come back with the sweets she promised.

Coming back home wasn’t as easy or peaceful as the teenagers thought it would be.

Max waited for Billy for an hour before she realized that he was never going to pick her up, so she ended up walking all the way home.

The situation got worse when she found Neil and her mother waiting for them awake and in the living room.

Neil was fuming, already assuming and getting it right about why she came back home alone.

Max tried to lie about Billy dropping her at the front door and leaving to droop one of his friends and that he would be back soon. But the lie flew out of the window when said teenager appeared stumbling and staggering through the front door two minutes later.

When his father asked him why he was late Billy made the excuse that he had a flat tire.

Those simple words left both teenagers as liars and idiots. And yet, Neil’s anger was solely directed to his excuse of a son.

Max left to her room before everything started, she already knew what was coming. Neil beating the shit out of his son, Billy not having the courage to fight back and her mother watching, to much of a coward to either live the scene or stop her husband.

Max stayed in her room imagining she was in another place, in another world, pretending she didn’t know Billy enough to care about him. But actually, it was the opposite.

They’ve had a few moment between them in which they manage to understand each other silently. Without having to mention they’re main problem. Neil and Susan’s uncomfortable relationships that put they’re lives upside down.

But while she was creating walls to protect herself from her powerlessness, Thirteen had come out of the shed a few minutes ago. When he heard Max walking to and opening the front door to be exact.

He sneaked into her room, unlocking the window with his powers, waiting for her in her closet. But when she took longer than normally and he heard Neil’s voice grow more and more dangerous, he went back outside to see the living room trough the window.

He saw and heard everything that happened. He even witnessed Neil hitting Billy and beating him to the ground.

That man was like papa, it’s what he thought.

Watching Billy get beat made Thirteen’s blood boil so much he didn’t realize his powers where starting to act up.

The shelf beside them fell loudly startling a scream out of Susan and distracting Neil. The sudden pause at least got him to calm down and see his son seating in the floor, beaten and drunk. He thought that was enough, he didn’t want to leave a mark of obvious evidence in him, he didn’t need someone coming to ask questions.

Thirteen went back to Max’s room. He knocked on the window, getting her attention. She turned towards the boy, taking the mask off.

Once he was inside, he instinctively sat down beside her and gave her a hug.

Oh how much Max wanted to cry right there. But she hates crying. She didn’t let any tears come out but she leaned in to the boy’s hug.

The world doesn’t deserve someone like Thirteen, is what came to her mind. So young and so aware of the bad things and yet, he remains with a heart of gold.

They stayed like that for what felt like hours until everything calmed down. They waited when everyone was back in they’re room, and even a few minutes after that.

They sat in the girl’s bed, getting more comfortable.

Max dumped the bag full of candys in her bed between them. She had skittles, 3 musketeers, nerds, fireballs, monchitos, tunos and a lot more she didn’t know existed.

She was obviously trying to change the atmosphere and thankfully it was working.

“You know, I’ve been thinking…” mumbled Max with her mouth stuffed with whoppers, making sure to speak softly. She didn’t want anyone coming to knock on her door when she should be asleep. “Do you remember when magneto choose another name when he was on the run?” she asked the kid. Thirteen nodded, still munching in a bar of the three musketeers. “I was thinking. What if you do the same? Having a number as a name easily raises suspicions. But if you have another name…” she left the idea hanging, already noticing the understanding in the kids expression.

The boy opened his eyes wide, nodding a few times in happiness.

“Wanna choose a name?” She asked after she swallowed the chocolate.

With the most innocent eyes and without hesitation he said. “Magneto.”

Max laughed a bit and shook her head. The kid was to innocent for his own good. “Magneto is not a name for a person. That’s his title as a villain.” She explained.

Thirteen deflated a little bit. He wanted a name from magneto.

He thought for a moment under Max’s attentive eyes. Until he came with an idea. “Magnus.” He said in a dreamy tone of voice.

Max repeated the name in her head and in a whisper, testing how it sounds before nodding. “Magnus. I like that.” She extended her hand, expecting the kid to do the same.

Thirteen looked at her hand for a second, not getting the memo, but he trusts her so he raised his hand, blinking a few times when she grabbed it and shook it.

She smiled at him. “Nice to meet you, Magnus.” She said

Thirteen felt cheeks warming and a smile spreading in his face. He likes how it sounds. “Nice to meet you.” He whispered.

He now has a name, a friend and a place to stay. He has everything he ever wanted, and he’ll do everything in his power to protect it.

Finding Purpose | Male OC (or Male Reader) Chap 4

With the second day at Pandora over, the soldiers documented their experiences of what they saw and felt while driving an avatar for the first time. It wasn't anything as detailed as a scientist would describe with the technical names of the neural connection between bodies or something. It was simple. They described it as an experience that couldn't be expressed with enough words or an experience that would blow anyone's mind. They called it a day and proceeded to fall into the arms of Morpheus.

The next day, the routine began like the previous one, they got up, took a bath and went to the cafeteria to eat.

But they never expected that after eating they would be directly called by a pilot to follow them to an area that they are already more familiar with from their years in the army, proclaiming that the colonel wanted to see them.

The woman introduced herself to them as Trudy, detailing that by orders of who they were going to see, she would be the designated pilot for the expeditions that involved them.

"You guys are packing some heavy gear." Jake commented as he saw the ammunition that was being loaded into the Samsun that she indicated as hers.

On the other hand, Eli was looking around, almost feeling nostalgic. Comfortable in his environment, but that did not bring him the best feelings. The last time he was in a place like this was when he presented his resignation letter caused by the disaster on his last mission. The same mission that almost took his life.

He felt a shiver run down his spine as he remembered it.

"Yeah. That's 'cause we're not the only thing around out there. Or the biggest." Trudy replied, with a small tone of amusement at the end. "I need you as gunners. Protocol generally asks me to take 2 soldiers for 1 scientist, but we are short staffed. You would be a lot of help tomorrow."

Eli turned to look at the woman with surprise, but a hint of relief. He wasn't cut out for science and he had to confess that he missed the adrenaline. So much time without being a Marine is already starting to take its toll on him. "Do they really have weapons but enough for avatars?" Eli asked.

Trudy gave him a toothy smile. She almost felt like she was seeing a child after being told that there are going to be gifts for Christmas. "You'd be surprised what toys the RDA can make. Fill out an application saying it's to improve mission performance and they'll give you whatever you want."

Jake nodded in satisfaction. Even if his avatar body was not his own, the idea of entering a hostile forest unarmed only to experience his death firsthand was not the best of ideas. "Well then, you can count on us." Jake said, responding to the request made a few seconds ago. Eli nodded.

"Perfect. I'll see you tomorrow then." She ended the conversation by stopping in front of a slightly more private section among all the mess caused by the army. She pointed to a man exercising in the corner. "There's your man. See you on the flight line." As a last act, she bumped fists with them to say goodbye.

Both soldiers approached the boss, stopping at the metal frame of the security-like cage created for those who wish to exercise and remain out of danger from the rest of the machinery in the place. "You wanted to see us, Colonel?"

"This low gravity'll make you soft…" the colonel began to speak while still doing the bench presses. His voice came out slightly with difficulty due to the effort of speaking and lifting weight. "You get soften…" to give more drama to the moment, Quaritch roughly put the weights in its place, sat up and looked them in the eyes very seriously. "Pandora will shit you out dead with zero warning."

Eli mentally snorted. He had already heard a lot about how dangerous the planet is, but no one had told him how good it could be and he is beginning to believe that someone ordered them to specifically tell them that just to scare them. To mess with the rookies or something like that.

The Colonel stood up and walked until he was in front of them. "You have a lot of courage showing up in this neighborhood." Both soldiers remained silent. The man's tone showed that he was not finished. "You are the best proof that a soldier cannot be defeated… Both wounded in combat and look where you are." Quaritch walked past them and held out his hands for emphasis to show where they were. On the most hostile planet known to man.

"It's just another hell, sir." Jake answered as he turned the chair around.

Quaritch smiled at the attitude. That fearless look is just what he needed to see to continue with his plan. With a nod he indicated for them to follow him. "I was first recom myself. A few years ahead of you. Well, maybe more than a few. Three tours Nigeria, not a scratch. I come out here?…" he turned around walking backwards to point at his scar on the side of his head. "Day one. Think i felt like a shavetail louie? Yeah."

Eli nodded his head, turning to see some soldiers pulling a weapon big enough for the robot suits like the one they were walking to at that moment. A weapon the same size as his body and he bets 3 times heavier.

"Oh, the could fix me up, if I rotated back. And make me pretty again." He paused to climb onto one of the robot's legs and gave it a few strong tugs to test its resistance. Satisfied with the result, he turned back to the couple of friends. "But you know what? I kind of like it. Reminds me every day what's waiting out there."

Before he began climbing the robotic suit, he signaled for the soldiers to ride the elevator next to the suit and stay out of the way.

"The avatar program is a bad joke. Bunch of limp-dick science majors. However..." his voice came out with difficulty as he climbed up the suit until finally falling inside. "It does present an opportunity both timely and unique."

Eli crossed his arms and leaned on one leg to pay attention. The platform he had stood on with Jake finally stopped at the Colonel's level.

"CLEAR." The man shouted as he grabbed the controls of the machine. Someone behind the ex-Marines yelled for them to clear the area. The Colonel pressed the buttons on the panel, satisfied when the engine came to life. "Recon gyrenes in avatar bodies. That's a potent mix. Give me the goose bumps." He said with the slightest laugh in his words. He seemed to find the situation amusing. "Men like that would give me the intel I need, right on the ground. Right on the hostiles' camp" After calibrating the controls to his liking, he turned to the soldiers in a slightly more serious tone. "Listen. I want you to learn these savages from the inside. I want you to gain their trust. I need to know how to force their cooperation or hammer them hard if they won't."

The Colonel's tone did not give room to refute anything, it was directly an order without mentioning that it is an order. Something that neither of them liked. But they are soldiers, they are used to it.

Jake followed up with an important question. "Are we still with Augustin?"

"On paper. Yeah, you walk like one of her science pukes, you quack like one, but you report to me. Can you do that for me lads?"

The newcomers turned to look at each other. One look was enough to know that they both agreed.

"Yes, sir," they both answered instinctively. This loyalty brought a satisfied smile to the superior's face.

"Well, all right, then." With a wave of his glove, the Colonel turned on the robot. He brought his hands to his chest and threw some well-calculated punches, making the suit perfectly imitate his movements.

Jake and Eli backed up a little in the elevator to avoid being hit by accident.

Pleased with the adjustments to his suit, he turned it around to face the former Marines, placing his hands on his waist. Not even his suit seemed to prevent the Colonel from moving with confidence.

"I take care of my own. You get me what I need and you will get what your nation denied you."

The words the Colonel had used had been intentional. He read both of their files in order to not only understand who they are, but to understand how they think. He wants them to know that they are no longer on earth and that under his control he promised to give them more importance.

And they both completely believed it.

"To you Jake." The Colonel began. "I can give you your legs. Your real legs." Mentioning the limbs, the man aimed at Jake's human legs, using the robot. He then turned to Eli. "And to you, corporal. I will make sure that your nation gives you the recognition and apology you deserve. What do you think?"

Both soldiers nodded at the same time and responded. "Yes sir."

"Good." Ending the conversation, he closed the lid of the cabin with his metallic hand, turned around and turned to continue on his way, leaving the two with a lot to think about but only one conclusion.

They have a new mission.

Finding Purpose | Male OC (or Male Reader)

Like 3 cats mesmerized by seeing a laser dot on the wall, there were Norm, Jake and Eli, watching as they took out the huge bodies of the avatars and prepared them for the link.

"It's a bit crepey. Those things are alive." Eli confessed, rubbing a bump on his head that Jake had given him in the morning from waking him up with a water base on his face.

"In fact, they can't be said to be alive at all..." Norm said, letting the nerdy side of him come out. "Unless someone is connected the only thing they are able to display is-"

Norm froze at what he was saying, turning to see Eli with raised eyebrows at him. A clear expression that says. "That's not what I meant and I'm not interested in further explanation."

A little intimidated, Norm looked back at the avatars. "Of course." He muttered under his breath.

Jake shook his head, maintaining a slight smile. At least the scientist was starting to get used to them and their different behaviors. He just had to wait a little longer and they would too.

The heavy, demanding footsteps revealed that the person about to pass behind them was Dr. Grace.

"Come on, we’re loosing daylight." Ordered the woman without stopping to look at them.

Eli rolled his eyes in disgust. It was barely the second day and he was already annoyed with the woman. That was a new record.

With the men's attention finally on what was important, they moved around the lab to the MIND machines (direct neural interface machines).

"Norm, how much link time have you logged?" Grace asked, walking over to the nearest machine.

"About 520 hours."

Grace nodded in satisfaction. "That's good." When they got to the empty machines she pointed to the one next to her. "You’re in there." She instructed him, then turned to the soldiers, completely changing her countenance. "You. Come with me."

A few steps to the right were enough to reach another basic machine. "How long have you logged, Eli?" asked the woman without taking her eyes off the controls.

"Never. But they told me how it works."

The doctor finally turned around only to look at him with an expression that showed disbelief. Eli's nonchalant tone was driving her crazy. "You got to be kidding." The shake that Jake made with his head was the answer. She sighed heavily and turned back to the controls. "Lay down and don’t touch anything." She ordered heavily in her words.

As Eli sat at the machine Jake came rolling to poke at the gel from the edges. "It's cool." The marine expressed with a smile on his face, causing an equal expression in his best friend.

They couldn't deny that science could be interesting. The boring ones are the scientists.

Eli lay down on the machine and tugged at the collar of the shirt they had given him, somewhat dissatisfied. The three new avatar drivers had been dressed in the same clothes they used to put them in the cryogenic capsules, and they couldn't be more uncomfortable. The doc grabbed the first part of the cover, which consisted of a plastic mold with some electrodes, and put it on his torso.

Curiously, Eli raised his head to see what was covering him, but the woman's hand on his forehead pushed his head back down. "Head down." The soldier grumbled under his breath. He raised his hand to adjust the tight collar of his shirt again, but again, the woman stopped him. "Geez marine. Can't you hold still?"

Eli rolled his eyes at Jake's laugh as he kept looking at them.

In one quick move, when Dr. Grace was busy with the machine's controls, Eli reached up for his hand and gave Jake the middle finger. He lowered his hand when he heard a snort, he could only see the ceiling from his position, just in time before the doctor turned around. "Okay. Just relax and clear your mind. It shouldn't be too hard." She said, then lowered the last lid and turned to Jake, not seeing the middle finger that dried her as she turned her back on him.

The only one who noticed the action had been Jake, who turned to look away to avoid being seen laughing.

Eli was encapsulated in an almost completely dark space when the lid finally closed. It let out that significant sound that denoted that it had been pressure sealed. He felt the machine moving towards what from his point of view is above and he heard strange sounds, but he didn't feel that anything was really happening.

However, from the outside the scientists were aware of everything that was happening between his brain and the one they were going to connect to him.

"Link ready to load." Announced the scientist on the computer. Max, who was next to her, was looking attentively at the screen.

"Biometrics?" he asked without taking his eyes off the screen at the same time, more attentive to the brain of her avatar while she watched the human brain.

"Ideal and obtaining the first congruence."

Max nodded. "Good. Executing sequence on 2... Go." With just 2 movements of his fingers, he create a connection between two bodies that initially should have never been united.

"Activated" she announced, confirming that the process had started. "Phase-lock at 40%".

Max scrolled the computer image of his screen onto the tablet next to him and walked over to the window that connected to the avatar medical room.

"Phase-lock at 70%. 89%" he hears his partner announcing how fast the connection was forming.

Max, finally looking up from the tablet, turned his attention to the huge blue bodies. "Let's see what this beautiful brain can teach us." He mumbled, hearing Grace's voice giving Jake instructions in the background…or maybe it was a scolding. He couldn't know.

The soldier, now accustomed to the metallic sound of the machine, closed his eyes and cleared his mind as the doctor told him. He took a long, last breath that relaxed his body. Consequently, letting his mind finally travel through the new escape created by the scientists.

He felt strange, first he was uncomfortable with his clothes and trying to ignore the sound of the machine and the next his nose was disturbed by the pugnacious smell of disinfectant.

"He's in."

He heard someone's voice in the distance, as if he was underwater. He tried to open his eyes, closing them instantly as he felt irritation from the strong white lights in the place.

"Eli. Can you hear me?" he heard the voice again, but this time clearer. Identifying it as a man's. Undoubtedly young.

He opened his eyes again allowing himself to adjust to the light. The blurry images became clear from incomprehensible points until they reached a definition beyond what his human eyes had ever seen. With his third sense in sync, the soldier was able to notice two scientists above him.

"Can you hear me?"

This time he was able to identify that the voice was coming from the scientist to the right of him. He blinked a few times to finish getting used to his new eyes and mumbled. "Loud and clear doc."

The confirmation put a smile on both scientists. But even so, to make sure that everything was in order, the scientist to the right of him snapped his fingers in both pointed ears. He showed a satisfied expression seeing them respond to the sound. "Normal Pinna response." He told his partner.

The younger looking one of the two nodded as he took out a flashlight from his suit pocket. "Eli, could you look up?" He asked the soldier in his new body.

"Yeah." Eli whispered, accommodating his head on the stretcher, feeling the braid above his neck.

When the light from the flashlight hit his new yellow eyes it caused his pupils to shrink to almost nothing until the light passed into the next eyes, responding in kind. "Okay, everything looks in order. Could you follow my finger?" he asked again as he raised his finger in front of his eyes and moved it from side to side.

He smirked as his eyes followed the movement of his troubled finger. "Pupillary reflexes look good and he does not seem to have vision problems." He informs to his partner.

"Okay, what we'll do next will be simple routine procedures." The older scientist told him, looking Eli in the eye. His experience in the area was evident in his tone of voice. "Please sit down." He indicated taking a few steps back when the avatar raised his torso. "Be careful, you could get dizzy."

Eli made an "o" with his mouth as he sat down on the table. He knew that avatars were big, but he didn't imagine that he would feel that way. His grip on the edges of the stretcher tightened to keep from wobbling. "Wow, it seems like everything has shrunk." He exclaimed with a bare-fanged smile. Still surprised that his ears twitched at any movement in the room, especially towards the stretcher to his left where Norm was talking to his fellow scientists.

The young scientist smiled, fascinated to be so close to an avatar. This was the first time for him as much as it was for the soldier. The other scientist, on the other hand, smiled more calmly. He had already lived with the scientists in their avatar bodies for more than two years. But that didn't take away from how good it felt to welcome a newbie.

"It's normal for you to feel that. Your avatar is 2.89m tall. It's above average for the avatars height, but well within the average for Pandora natives."

'1.09 m makes quite a difference in perspective.' Eli thought, watching his hands open and close into fists.

"Don't worry, after the training exercises you will be so new that you will jump like rabbits did in the past". The older scientist said when he saw the soldier rotating his neck and arms to get used to feeling them.

"And if I prefer as a frog?" he joked, he just wanted to contradict him just for having some fun. But it was a pleasant surprise that widened his smile when the other scientist joined the game.

"Actually it would be more like a cat," he said, using an enthusiastic tone.

The experienced scientist rolled his eyes, but didn't take the smile off his face. "Okay Eli, please get your feet off this side of the bed and reach out to me with your hands." He ordered the avatar driver.

He was again pleased when the man followed in his orders. When he had been told that the one who would take over as driver would be a soldier, the poor scientist had expected someone with an ego for the heavens, a frown that would create wrinkles and a honestly shitty character, but it's a pleasant surprise.

"Like this?" asked the soldier as he raised his hands palm up.

"Yes, now please-" Eli's ears flicked before the heads of the three to the worried voices of the last few scientists he had only just realized were in the room.

He raised his eyebrows when he saw Jake, awake and trying to get up from the table. 'Oh no.'

"Uh wait. Sit down Jake"

"Jake, listen to me."

The scientists spoke with concern clear in more than just their voices. But it was obvious that a certain Marine wasn't paying attention. The only thing that had his attention at that moment was his new legs. Some that worked.

"It's okay… it's all good. I got this." Jake muttered. He placed his hand on one of the room's panes after avoiding leaning too far back.

The poor scientist behind Jake and the one helping Eli had to back off as the soldier's new tail flicked erratically, hitting them.

"Jake, Jake. I need you to sit down."

"Jake," Eli called, trying to get his attention, but to no avail.

Jake got enough balance to pull himself upright only to do a quick turn when he felt his tail touch his shoulder. A PAM, called everyone's attention. The inexperienced avatar's eyes widened when he started into other yellow ones just like his, but full of indignation. His best friend was holding his cheek with his palm and his eyebrows were raised. But the most interesting thing was his expression that clearly reflected what he thought. "Did you really just slapped me with your tail?"

Jake let out a laugh as he took a few steps to the side, out of the small space between the window and the stretcher. "This is amazing." He exclaimed with euphoria.

"Jake, for God's sake. Sit down at once." Eli said a little exasperated and worried about his friend.

But it was still useless. "Of course not. I've been sitting around for years- Enough already." Jake answered with difficulty having to use the wall as a support to avoid falling.

"Sedate. Sedate him." Shouted the scientist who saw Jake, to his partner. "Thousand milligrams of Supitocam."

Eli had to stop the electrode monitor that Jake was walking away from before he hit one of the scientists. "Jake be careful."

When the scientist had the syringe in her hands she turned around, ready to inject it, but instead she had to get out of the way of a large blue inexperienced body before he could run over her.

"Someone stop him." They hear Max's voice over all the commotion, but it was too late. Jake used the new strength of his Na'vi body to basically slam the first door he faced on his way outside.

Eli let out an exasperated growl at seeing no other option, unconsciously lowering his ears. He got out of bed with some difficulty, removing the electrodes with quick hands.

"Eli, Eli. Please sit down." I speak to the young scientist.

"I have to go get him before he gets hurt." Eli responded hastily as he jerked his hand away to remove an electrode that stuck to his finger. Beside him he could hear Norm trying to do the same and arguing with the scientists. Three $5 trillion dolar bodies escaping from the labs was not the best possible scenario or a safe one. Even less when the bodies measure almost 3 meters.

"Someone please stop the avatars!"

Ignoring the chaos that had been caused in seconds, Eli staggered toward the door. He used the stretcher and the wall for support when necessary, but luckily the more steps he took the more he got used to his new legs.

"JAKE!" Eli called his friend who kept walking away from him. "Oh my god." He exclaim having to hold on to the frame of the last door when tripping over his own foot. "JAKE!"

He took a metaphorical leap of faith by letting go and jogging on the blacktop of the basketball court in front of the lab.

"Excuse me." He quickly told the avatars that were playing before being interrupted by an escaping soldier.

The avatar driver with the ball in hand didn't seem upset at the situation, on the contrary, he raised his hand with a smile greeting him. "Hello."

As fast as he could and without falling, Eli returned the gesture.

Behind him, Norm and most of the scientists came out of the same door, but the only one who didn't stop when he saw how far the soldiers were already ahead of them, was Norm. "Hey. Wait for me." Shouted the scientist who stayed behind. "Jake, Eli, you have to get back. You can't run yet." Ironically, contrary to what he said, both soldiers displayed excellent control in their new bodies, allowing them to stretch out their legs and use them to their currently maximum capacity.

To his surprise and his relief, Eli gave up trying to stop Jake, going from running to jogging to walking. "Eli."

The avatar turned around at hearing his name, startled as he instantly reached out his arms to catch Norm's as his foot wobbled away from him. "Are you okay?" He ask him breathless, exercise and laughter cause that. He found it peculiarly funny how Norm resembled a child trying to take his first step on a trampoline, not to mention his tail was wagging from side to side erratically.

"Am I okay? You were the ones who ran away." He finally answered him by standing tall in front of the soldier.

"And you were the one who followed us." Eli replied, turning around and starting to walk. Amusingly, his own robe exposed his bottom and calmly billowing tail.

"H-Hey, where are you going?" with shaky steps Norm followed.

"To find an airhead. Are you coming?"

Without waiting another second Norm began to follow the avatar. For anyone who saw them from far it would be a curious scene. A scientist walking with a small step but as fast as he could behind a taller avatar that was now keeping a firm step.

Taking advantage of the fact that his back is to him, Norm gives him a dirty look when he almost stumbles again. He envied the ease with which someone who had 0 hours of training could adapt.

Instead, Eli was too busy admiring the surroundings to notice the scientist and the two left feet of his. It was the first time in his entire life that he saw so much green, so much nature around him that it purified the air that filled his new lungs. It’s refreshing. A word that made no sense on earth.

Finally, after walking a few more meters in Paradise, Eli saw the back of the idiot he had been following for a while. "Hey, Airhead"

Jake jumped in his place, turning to see his best friend with a smile full of juice from the fruit in his hand. He hadn't quite gotten used to the ability of the new Na'vi ears yet, and possibly he never would.

"Bro, you have to try this." Jake told him. Ignoring what he called him, he tossed the fruit to Eli who caught it with ease.

He looked at Jake then at the fruit with some uncertainty, but finally took a bite. His taste buds exploded with euphoria upon contact with the fruit juice.

Inadvertently his eyes widened and his ears perked up in delight.

"Damn," Eli exclaimed, earning a laugh from Jake.

"Hey, check this out." The soldiers turned to see Norm finally arriving with them. He spread his arms and began to pose like a bodybuilder. "I'm a Greek god. This is amazing-agh"

They both laughed when Norm ended up tripping over one of the roots in the garden, but it was funnier to see him get up and clean his robe as if nothing had happened.

"I'm fine. Nothing to see here."

Eli's ears twitched at an unfamiliar laugh. He turned around, surprised to see a woman in an avatar appearing from behind Jake.

"Hey Eli, you won't believe who she is." Jake expressed to his friend that he was still not taking his eyes off the woman, but to his surprise, his friend was good at recognizing human faces beneath Na'vi features.

But the astonishment of seeing the same doctor in such a fine and delicate body, with extravagantly undulating hips was not something he would recognize in the woman's human body, it was still hard for him to believe it possible. She not only looks good (in fact, she looked stunning but he would never accept it) but she also looks younger.

"Doc?" Jake raised his eyebrows at the quickness of the response.

Grace gave him a closed-lipped smile with some amusement. "Wow. Not so stupid after all."

Eli snorted and shook his head. Of course that would be the first thing she would say, it was no longer new.

"What are you waiting for standing there? The bodies have already been released, now we have to work on them." The doctor clapped her hands to get the three's attention and motioned for them to move on to the cabin. Herding them like a group of children.

Although it was not that far from reality. Just a few minutes ago you were taking your first steps in a new body.

The doctor snorted a laugh when she saw the naked and blue buts of the 3 adults.

'This will be interesting' thought the doctor.

A few hours and a lot of training later, all the RDA avatars were in the designated cabin preparing to sleep.

All in their pajamas and many even with towels drying their hair, they circled inside the wooden structure arranging their stations. Their every move was controlled to avoid hurting the human scientists walking among them.

Eli was crouched in the trunk at the foot of his bed going over what he had been assigned to use with the avatar and making a mental list of what he needed. He moved his neck and shoulders from time to time to release the tension in the muscles, generated by the day's training, trying to follow the routine that he uses as a human in a new body had not been the best of his ideas. But still he bet that without training his avatar body is still stronger than his human body.

"Hey, Eli. Look at this creepy thing."

"Mm?" Not paying to much attention, he turned around. He ended up leaning back when in front of his face were what looked like the tentacles of an octopus moving. "What the fuck is that?" Now with more distance he could see that the tentacles were at the end of Jake's braid.

"I don't know. But it seems like all the avatars have it." He answered without further explanation. He couldn't take his eyes off that thing.

Eli grabbed his own braid and lifted it up. He was astonished to see that, indeed, when the hair at the end of the braid fell, it left waving pink tentacles. "How creepy!"

"Very creepy." He answered him.

Grace rolled her eyes as she passed them, but she stopped in front of his bed and put her hands on her small waist. "Don't let those things get entwined between you."

Both avatars jumped in their place, turning to see the woman with ears perked up as if they were children found doing something they shouldn't.

"Why not?" Jake asked.

"Do you want to end up being married on Na'vi terms?" Both soldiers instantly leaned back, pulling as far away as they could with a disgusted expression. "I thought so." Without further ado she takes her way ordering the scientists. "Hurry everyone. Go to sleep kittens."

Jake and Eli exchanged a last couple of glances before continuing with what they were doing before that stupid incident.

Was that really possible?

Getting married to connect some braids did not seem to have any kind of consistency.

But they were on a hostile planet light-years from Earth, driving blue bodies and twice the size of what they're used to, so consistency didn't have much to do with it.

When the scientists were finally out, Grace closed the metal doors and locked them to make sure no animals could get in and harm the avatars while they were gone. She then headed over to the light panels. "Lights out." She said to herself as she turned off the light switches. "I'll see you at dinner kittens"

Even when the veil of darkness fell over them, many kept turning on the huge beds of their avatars. Especially Norm, Jake and Eli. They couldn't find a comfortable position where the tail or braid wouldn't get in the way.

But even between them, Jake, despite having found a sleeping position, still didn't close his eyes.

He turned to look to the side, finding the back of a scientist and looking at the other bed, there was Eli's avatar deeply unconscious. He had already logged out.

It wasn't that easy for him. He didn't want to return to a reality where he couldn't feel or move his legs, and doing the simple things of everyday life was difficult.

In the end, he closed the eyes of his avatar, ignoring the sounds of the unknown animals in the wild, and traveled in the newly formed bond to his body.

It was time to wake up.

Being the Son of Calliope, headcanons…

Being The Son Of Calliope, Headcanons…

PJO x Male Reader (No romantic pairing)

Warnings: None…

Summary: You’re the son of the goddesss of epic poetry and eloquence and One of the Nine Muses…

(A/n: I know I was meant to work on other stuff but I got distracted.)

(Song is unrelated to the story but it felt Muses coded so…)

——

You were the only half-blood at camp related to one of the Muses, specifically Calliope, the Goddesss of Epic Poetry and Eloquence.

When you had gotten to camp you used to stay in Cabin 11, even though you’d been claimed, there was no cabin for you. So you ended up bunking with Travis Stoll.

But after the war with the titans and Percy’s demands to Zeus to the gods, a cabin dedicated to the Nine Muses had been built.

You being made the counsler… not that there were any other options…

The cabin was great tho, it was decorated with statues and carvings of the muses and their symbols. There were paintings hung of their famous demigods too such as Orpheus, Hyacinthus and Linus

The cabin had a big book case with novels, plays, comedies, tradgedies, poetry. A soundproof dance studio, a spundproof music room with a bunch of instruments, a sky window to study the stars.

Basically everything associated with the Muses.

——

If you had a nickel for everytime someone had tried to pick you by saying ”you were their muse” or that ”you had inspired” the poem, song or novel they wrote… you’d be richer than Hades.

You were particullarly popular amongst the Apollo cabin who seemed to think you were some kind of key to overcome creative blocks. Will Solace, their counselor, needed to keep them in check since they all seemed interested in you in one way or the other.

Athena’s and Hephaestus’s cabins were also drawn to you for your creativety.

——

You would however end up being paired with the Apollo cabin to lead the campfire sing-alongs, you usually end up with a solo song telling the dramatic story of some greek hero.

Imagine something like ”The Gosphel Truth” from ”Hercules”, with the Apollo cabin acting as you back up singers.

——

As for your powers, you were far from the strongest of demigods, but you were by no means weak.

You had a natrual talent for the arts, singing, dancing, poetry, instruments, etc…

As the son of the goddess of Eloquence you could cast minor short lasting curses on people that would effect their speaking, that could for example cause them to only speak in rhymes and limericks or make them unable to finish long sentences before drifting off.

Your swordfighting style would be noted by the other campers to be quite different, while they fought normally with their swords, Percy described your style more as a ”VERY deadly and sharp dance”.

Being related to the muses you also had an aura that could induce inspiration and creativity in someone (so maybe the Apollo cabin was on to something with their interest in you).

Though that power worked both ways as you could also curse someone with creative block.

——

Unlike most demigods, you’re mother showed up quite often to advice you whenever you had a problem… and she didn’t come alone.

Let’s say you’re in your cabin and you’re sad after having an argument with a friend.

Well… then all the 9 statues of the Muses in the cabin come to life and start singing a pop-soul number about why friendship is important and you should make up with your friend.

It’s was quite terrifying the first few times it happened but you get used to it after a while.

Being one of the Muse’s son is pretty much like being all of their son.

(A/n 2: Sorry, this is shorter than i usually write and is more so a collection of small headcanons for a Son of Calliope!Reader than a full on fic.)
