so i have a mildly popular “reblog and put in in the tags” post going around and its. very clear how many people don’t know how to interact with a tumblr post
so, first of all, tumblr’s culture has changed a lot in the past couple years. there’s a genuine community effort to not start any drama, and ironically a lot of the current hostility is an effort to keep things calm. there’s also a change in how people interact with posts, so if you haven’t been here in a while please skip down to the tags/replies/reblog with text section.
for newcomers: you should be reblogging posts about as liberally as you would like something on twitter. if you only like stuff, people will think you are rude/a bot. you’ve probably heard people talk about “cultivating your dash,” and thats because this platform is 100% centered around your dashboard. trending matters less, unfollowing and blocking in order to shape your dash into it’s best form is widely accepted, the majority of the content you’ll find and interact with will be because of your dash, and the only way to put things on your dash is to reblog them. tumblr users are deeply distrustful of algorithms and have largely turned off the “see posts your friends have liked” function (i recommend you also turn of the various algorithms in settings → general settings → dashboard preferences).
so, once you’ve reblogged a post, there’s three ways to add content to it. the tags, replies, and reblogging with text. all of them have different connotations
the tags: an inside voice. originally they were meant for organizing your blog (and they’re still used for this), but they’ve also morphed into a way to share thoughts that aren’t funny/insightful enough for non-followers to be interested in. when in doubt, put your comment in the tags
replies: basically talking to your friends in class. your followers have no way of finding your replies (they don’t pop up on the dash, nobody gets notified except for the original poster) so chances are, only the person who made the post is gonna see your comment. it’s for quick one-offs that you’re okay with other people overhearing, but really is only made for one person. they’re like a public dm
reblog with text: an outside voice. you’re getting up on a stage in town square and entertaining people. make sure it’s funny or insightful— bottom line, add something new to the conversation. you should use this the least
general rules of thumb:
when in doubt, reblog. people will judge you if your blog is only personal posts and you only interact with other content by liking it.
the only things people will judge you for reblogging are personal vent posts. leave a like to give a little virtual hug
if a post is asking about your personality/opinions (i.e: tell me what’s the last tv show you watched, that kind of thing) put it in the tags
also if you see a nice edit, gifset, or art, reblog and say something nice in the tags! it’s that nice sweet spot of common enough that no one will notice but uncommon enough to make the artist’s day
guys guys this might sound crazy but maybe we don't name our Chuuya Nakahara lovechild ocs after the real life Chuuya Nakahara's son who died of tuberculosis at 20 months old. maybe we consider being respectful to a man who never fully recovered from his son's death and had a nervous breakdown because of it. I know the whole point of BSD is mixing real life authors and stories into an anime but i don't want to see the name of a dead toddler reused for your Soukoku lovechild OCS on my feed, or anywhere at all. that's extremely disrespectful and just plain insensitive in my opinion. the sufferings of someone who actually lived in real life did not happen in any way for you to used to make your OCS quirky or more connected to Chuuya Nakahara. <3

hi i propose the idea that tomura likes to unravel bows and knots. if there's a pretty pink bow (or any bow he ain't picky) he's def tugging at the ends and then he'll fix it again only to undo it again and it repeats until eventually he slips up and decays everything. his long nails help him unravel the tightest knots and he doesn't admit it but he gets this small feeling of pride whenever he manages to do so. also, he gets frustrated when the knot is just way too tight - he ends up crushing (decaying) the damned bow in his hands with a terrifying glare like it owed him something
he also gets mad when he finds out the ribbon bow he's been eyeing from afar is actually all hot glued together instead of tied. if such a thing happens in a store or sumn, best believe he's decaying the whole store while muttering grumbles - after he tells the others to steal whatever they want first, of course.

Hi! My ask is related to your latest answer about Yashiro’s interest in leaving yakuza. You mentioned that not showing Yashiro and Miaumi sex was a smart decision and it caught my attention. So I wanted to ask how do you interpret that specific choice? I’m very curious about your take on that cause that’s something I’ve been wondering about but I couldn’t come up with any real answers, I had only some vague feelings about it.
hi hi, thank you for the question! i did spend a lot of time thinking about that choice, but i wouldn't say that i hold any real answers either, especially since we're talking about absence of a scene rather than analyzing something that exists in the text. so ultimately this is just me trying to put my own somewhat vague feelings into words
in my opinion not showing misumi and yashiro having sex renders the sexual violence invisible (in a literal sense, you know it happened, but don't have the mental image to recall every time the man shows his face) and therefore forgettable. it has a lot to do with how misumi is written in general - he is violent and cruel, but the cruelty doesn't come out that often, doesn't seep through his every word like it does with inami for example, where it's difficult to see a person through the anger and disgust that he evokes (it's still important to try to, though). misumi as we know him now is arguably charismatic, usually relatively calm, even funny at times, and his conversations with yashiro come off as friendly and lack the edge. so you're inclined to forget how violent misumi can be. that is, until he says or does something that reminds you of how much control and power he actually has over yashiro (which is also why his cruelty is so... effective? for the lack of a better word). that outburst in vol 7 and the seeming ease with which yashiro deescalated the situation only make me wonder how many times it had happened before and how much it reflects what their dynamic was like when they were sleeping together
i think there's also something in how you learn about misumi being sexually involved with yashiro in ch 1, without it being shown, and later in the same chapter learn about yashiro's stepfather abusing him, once again without being shown anything. you're not forced to look at it. and then in vol 2 you get both the flashback to yashiro being raped and to the physical violence he experienced at the hands of misumi, as well as the lead up to them having sex for the first time (consider the importance of misumi calling yashiro his "son" in this context), but only that - the sex itself isn't shown. you know it happened, you know it will be happening for a while, and you know that it's about control, but you're spared the visuals. here's the thing though, at that point you've already seen yashiro having sex with so many men that adding one more scene shouldn't matter, right?
which leads me to the question of dignity. i don't remember if the word is ever used in the text, but it's always at the back of my mind when i (re)read saezuru. there's a lot to be said about who has the privilege of their sex life being respected and private, who can walk away from a sexual encounter without being branded a whore or a faggot (not yashiro, but seemingly every man who had sex with him. i've got to mention, especially since it's you who sent the ask, that transmisogyny read on that is absurdly easy to make), how different characters' sexual trauma is treated (e.g. aoi's is described by doumeki without her knowledge or consent and simultaneously made into his trauma in a way, and you're shown it, too; doumeki's is only described, not fully, and he talks about it himself), etc. it's a very broad topic, but back to misumi - not showing him having sex is about his dignity. you as a reader are not privy to seeing him exposed the same way as yashiro. you never see misumi having sex with women either, but he boasts about how many lovers he has, because it's a status symbol. so the power and status are established and maintained without his vulnerability being exposed. misumi gets to have dignity, yashiro doesn't, and by not showing them have sex misumi is not put down to yashiro's level, which simultaneously puts him above men like ryuzaki (look at the group sex during the flashback in vol 2 and ch 5 from this perspective, how misumi gets to watch and interrupt both times, whereas his sex with yashiro most likely always happened in private. control, entitlement, possessiveness. privilege of privacy. you know)
to be clear, i don't think that that's how yoneda kou herself looks at things. she wouldn't have been able to put so much love and care towards those undesired otherwise. and as far as i'm concerned, there is more dignity in aoi's shaky voice or yashiro licking his own cum off the floor than in anything misumi has ever done with his life. but that's not how the society both in the context of the story and in real life looks at it. and if we're going with the idea that the author wants to have a conversation with her reader and poke at some biases they might have, then it's worth considering why she chooses to show some things but not others

The characters, the story, the universe, Tanaka-sensei's art style... Everything is so perfect for me, and that's why it became my favorite quickly. So a big thank you and congratulations to Tanaka-sensei, she does a really good job.

“What the…” Leona squinted his eyes as he looked at the paper slip he held in his hands.
Because of the headmaster, the “Secret Santa” game was compulsory to all students and unfortunately if you got a name you did not know, you would have to spend weeks frantically going under cover.
For Leona, this sounded like a nightmare. Regardless of who’s name, he’s got to prepare a gift for SOMEONE. That’s a lot of work he doesn’t want to get his paws hands dirty on. However, it seems that Leona had gotten a name that he didn’t mind. A name greater than Rook and Floyd (well, “obviously” he would say-).
Your name.
But what to get for you? What to get for you…
Walking away from the box of slips he begrudgingly lined at, he bumped into a student, his slip of paper flew out of his hand and swayed towards the ground with another slip of paper.
“Hey, Viper watch where you’re going,” the Savanaclaw dorm leader said with an irritated tone. Jamil just frowned, muttering a half-hearted apology as he reached down to grab his slip of paper.
“Hang on…”
“What?”
Jamil reached over to take the two slips of papers as he inspected them with a baffled look on his face. “Why do they both have Y/N’s name on it?”
Leona squinted his emerald eyes, and sure enough, the slips of paper had your name written on both of them. “What the hell?” Leona took the two slips in disbelief as Jamil rolled his eyes.
“Listen, why not we take this to Headmaster Crowley? Some sorry student won’t have a gift because of one of us.”
“What if it’s an odd number of students?”
“You really want to risk that?”
“Why not? Come on, let’s just work on a gift together, no?” Leona smirked. Leona didn’t really care what the odds were. He just wanted to do less work AND still be able to get you a gift. That sly, sneaky, SMUG dusty cat really is such a pain that Jamil understood. However, he noted that if he did tell the headmaster, he’d risked the chances of not being your secret Santa. He sighed, as he averted his eyes away from the lion and crossed his arms with the same frown still present on his face.
“Fine.” He hated how Leona smirked, but whatever. He’ll get this over with and done, and on the way decide if he wanted to take the full credit or not.

“Oh my sevens…” Jamil groaned as he turned to look at Leona with an annoyed look. Baking a log cake was something foreign to Jamil, and Leona was doing literally nothing to help him. Not even reading out the ingredients he required to use. “Are you gonna help?”
“Maybe,” Leona yawned. Jamil gritted his teeth, hand clutching onto the spatula even tighter as he stirred the sweet Christmas cake batter with bitterness.
Who does this guy think he is? You know what, I’m definitely taking all credit, it’s true I’m doing everything.
As Jamil continued stirring, he heard his senior yawned, grunting softly as he saw turned to see the lion stretch his stiff muscles and lazily dragged his feet over to the kitchen counter.
Leona blinked, as he looked towards Jamil who averted his eyes away from him with a frown. He turned his head towards the raspberries Jamil was supposed to cut laid on the chopping board untouched. Without saying a word, Leona grabbed a knife from the wooden holder, before swiftly slicing them.
“Hey! Wha-!”
“You needed to slice them up, right? Well, I’m doing it for you.”
Jamil stood baffled and dumbfounded as Leona nonchalantly cut up the raspberries. What a weird guy…
Leona peered over to Jamil once again, emerald eyes blankly looking at the vice dorm with a bored expression.
“…So, I heard from Kalim you’re going to spend Christmas over here.”
“What about it?”
“Don’t you have a sister? Don’t you wanna see her?”
“Well, Kalim’s family’s coming to NRC for a visit, and I need to be there to prepare.”
“Well that’s shit,” Leona bluntly replied.
“What’s your deal, seriously.” Jamil was just ticked off by this point, as this man in front of him was giving him so many mixed signals that he doesn’t understand.
“Listen, you should probably tell Kalim you’d rather go be with your family right now. Besides, he’s someone with plenty of servants, right? Just go be with em.”
“And why do you care?”
“I’m making sure you don’t regret being wasting your time and not being a big brother to your little sister.”
Jamil looked at Leona, the dicing of the raspberries being chopped up with the knife, the smooth, sharp and silver metal hitting the wooden board.
“Listen, my brother most of the time never was available for Christmas since he’s too busy with his King duties. Whenever he does show up, he gets super disappointed when he can’t come see us, and his face…” Leona paused, “Well, I can clearly see regret written all over.”
“The situation’s getting better over the years, but listen, I’m not saying neglect your duties, but don’t forget to not neglect your family. Otherwise, your face would pucker worse than when you swallow a whole lemon.”
Jamil stared at Leona in awe. Just what in the Sevens-
The boy’s eyes faltered, eyelids half-lidded as he looked dazed and caught up in his moment of self-reflection.
He smirked. “You think my sister’s as thoughtful as you are? I never knew you as the little brother would care so much about your older brother?”
“Oh don’t push it, Mr. Bleeding Heart-”

“Hey, Y/n.”
“Hm?”
You turned to see Leona yawning as he approached you, Jamil trailing behind. You blinked curiously at the pink cloth that seemed to wrap some kind of block, log even, as you smiled kindly.
“What’s up?”
“We’re your secret Santas. Don’t ask why you have two,” Leona bluntly replied, giving your gift which turned out to be a crudely frosted log cake, yet the decor of it were placed exquisitely with detail, as if fitting a puzzle piece to perfection.
“Hope you enjoy, Y/n,” Jamil politely smiled.

Thank you very much to the people who commissioned me, today my kitty is as usual! She was operated 1 month ago and after a few weeks of that they removed the threads and then her wounds healed completely, everything went great and I am very happy <3 although hahaha she does not like the vet because now she does not want me to leave her anywhere alone because she starts to cry calling me, poor little girl 😩💔
I'm using the money I have left over to buy her some toys to make her happier 💕✨
