Where Every Scroll is a New Adventure
Hi so I stormlight archives books and I keep thinking about the skybreaker ideals.
I think the fourth ideal of the skybreakwrs would be about forgiveness. Realizing that law is not always perfect. That there needs to be interpretation on the side of one laying down the law.
So the fourth ideal could be like. 'I accept that law is not perfect.' And sezth forgives himself for all he has done. Not completely of course. It is a journey. And that's what the words are about. Taking the next step to healing.
It does follows the pattern.
The first ideal is the ideal to start. To try again. To recognize that there is journey.
Second ideal is duty. To protect those who cannot protect themselves.
&
Swearing to uphold the law
Third is the ideal of guidance : to protect even those one Hate as long as it is right.
&
To follow an external law
Now the forth ideal is the ideal of acceptance: I accept that there will be those I cannot protect.
And it is stated that skybreakers and wind runners are not that different.
It makes sense that the fourth ideal of skybreakers is acceptance that law is flawed and forgives himself.
And i think kaladin is going to the king of new hearelds. His eyes are of rage. of jezriene king of hearelds. Lets see.
okay yeah yeah villain but the diagram is so cool you guys
Wall I made for this (featuring: Russian, Spanish, toki pona, DNA code, women's script, a few alphabets, some geometry and arithmetic, and a language that I invented, among other things. I had fun with this)

Concept: Jasnah Kholin with pants
I meant to draw this back in November when I first read the asexual Jasnah chapter, but uh . . . better late than never, right?
Reading the chapter that revealed Jasnah was ace was one of the happiest moments of my life. No joke, I went to bed that night grinning so hard it hurt the next morning. If there was any doubt about it before, Brandon Sanderson is definitely my favorite author now. Ace Jasnah is awesome.
I understand people being a little disappointed she's not homoromantic or 100% lesbian, but just remember that's she's not heteroromantic either--since the only romances she's ever been in (in any iteration of the Stormlight archive) have been with Taln (WoKP) and Hoid (RoW), she's clearly actually infiniromantic--romantically attracted to people who are at least a few millennia old and way too knowledgeable for anyone's good.
(Also, yes, I will be using ace Jasnah as an excuse to draw her exclusively using purple palettes. I mean, I would've anyway because something about her is just purple, but now I have an excuse.)
My immediate thought was of the sarpenthyn Shallan saw at the not-a-zoo that one time! These critters: https://coppermind.net/wiki/Sarpenthyn
I haven’t heard anyone talking about the land octopi yet
Look. One of Wit’s goals in life is to poke fun at people and make them uncomfortable. I’m choosing to believe that that is Wit’s goal here. Jasnah gets it and knows that reacting will just encourage him, so she does her best to avoid reacting outwardly and just inwardly rolls her eyes.
They get along well. They are friends. They are co-conspirators. They challenge each other. Jasnah appreciates that enough to put up with the nonsense. That’s all.

So I saw @ultimateinferno theorizing about this, and I want spoilers hidden under a cut on my blog, so I’m making a new post rather than reblogging to add to his excellent theory/meta. There are *major Rhythm of War spoilers* mixed with theorizing under the cut.
Ultimateinferno makes a good argument that Lift is the one who is eventually going to deal with Taravangian!Odium. This is *perfect*.
Lift’s “I don’t want to ever change.” You know what? If she kills Taravangian she’s going to get the opportunity to absorb Odium and ascend. Either her boon is going to give her the strength to resist taking the power so that she can deal with it some other way (maybe she could team up with Rysn??? I wonder what kind of affect shattering Odium would have...) OR she *will* take the power, but because of Cultivation’s boon it won’t affect her ability to think clearly.
Heh, although, Lift, as she is right now, but with the power of a shard might be a whole different kind of problem. As Yanagawn points out, “She often does what she isn’t supposed to.”
okay, Rhythm of War: Complete. That book was awesome.
I’m really worried about Taravangian!Odium, but… well, it could end up fine, maybe. I think I’m gonna detour into Mistborn Era 2 now. I’ve been in the Stormlight Archives for a very long time, so a smaaaallll break to read a five book series is in order :P
Hope you guys stick around for that liveblog as well <3
oh!!! Eeee!!!! A Seon!!!!! Elantris reference oh my god!!!!!!
Okay so this is Pain Book: The Book That Makes You Feel Pain
I. What. I. No. There’s no way he. I. What. That couldn’t have. No. What. What. What. What.
Teft… he is so… I… what a tragic, beautiful man…
“I am death itself, Defeated One, and I have finally caught up to you.”
Kaladin the MAN that you are. You are so angsty in the best possible way. You make me feel like a middle school girl obsessed with Sasuke and I am NOT ASHAMED
OH MY FUCKING GOD WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT I SHOULD HAVE CALLED THAT OH MY GOD WHAT THE FUCK OH MY GOD
I’m on early Rhythm of War, no one spoil future stuff!!!
I’m genuinely baffled what the hell Shallan is suppressing that could possibly be worse than what she already remembers. Like. What. What the fuck. How.
Ah!!! So neat. Brando Sando has such an excellent grasp on the ability convey character through dialogue. The ink spren talk in definites. “It is.” “This was.” “They are.” Most sentences are structured around a being verb of some kind.
This conveys their nature as beings of logic and fact… so easily?? He doesn’t need to go on and elaborate it, it’s just naturally conveyed!!!
…
Looks around
Navani and Raboniel should ki- well… hm… they should hold each other and be very close but I like Dalinar and Navani too much.
You know actually I’m on Pattern’s side now. Shallan’s being an asshole and needs to talk to him.
P…. Pattern… I don’t think I can handle this. What the fuck.
If Raboniel isn’t lying about her motives it’ll be the biggest plot twist in the entire series

Rhythm of War spoilers
THEY MADE AN AIRSHIP???? THAT’S SO COOL!!! THAT’S SO SO SO SO COOL!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAA
AH!!! THE VOICE ACTORS ARE DIFFERENT!!!! WHAT WHAT WHAT WHY!!!! I- they’re trying and they’re good, but also they’re DIFFERENT and that’s BAD
Started Rhythm of War, and…
What the FUCK Gavilar is the WORST. I didn’t expect him to be this AWFUL. When everyone talked about him changing I expected it to be in the Dalinar style of defying Voran ideals, not… this horrific, narcissistic monstrosity. I am so happy he was stabbed.
I just finished all of the Stormlight archive(except edgedancer and waiting for WAT) and I am obsessed! I do wish we got more info about the Nightwatcher as even the small glimpse of her we get are pure gold. She reminds me of the feyfolk from Ireland, Scotland, and whales in the best most unhinged way. I do however hope a couple things I want to happen with her.
A little context: I head cannon the three bondsmith Spren as storm father is the eldest brother and a brooding teenager 15 or 16, the Nightwatcher is like an insane 12 year old(think of a older lilo mixed with Matilda), and the sibling is the baby of the family who is like 6 or 7
Her bondsmith should be a singer.
If it’s someone we know than Vai, I know she’s young but I feel like together her and the night watcher could be schoolyard besties as in my head cannon they would be functional the same age, with Kaladin describing Vai as 7 in oathbringer it’s safe to assume with the singers faster aging she would be around 10 post time skip.
Also it could provide some character moments for kaladin and Vai, with her being an orphan and separated from everyone she knew Vai could blame kaladin for leaving and inadvertently causing her to be left alone, should ultimately come to terms with the fact that kaladin probably would have been killed by the fused and that he was not responsible for the way the fused punished Vai’s people, it could end with her forgiving him in some small way and perhaps swearing an ideal because of it.
Kaladin would also have to atone for his part, it could also tie into Kaladin’s therapy arch by helping Vai with her grief and perhaps helping her find a new family with the listeners or even becoming her new family.
and it connects to the themes of the cycle of revenge and Vai and kaladin would go through an arch of breaking the beginnings of a cycle of revenge in order to prepare for the bigger cycles that are connected to the conflict.
Another compelling option is someone we don’t know, maybe a family member of a known singer or listener like if Rlain had a sibling or one of Venli’s new listeners. A Iriali or Riran singer might be fun
I am also cautious about how the other two bondsmith surges work
as the surge Adhesion is only of Honor and the nightwatcher is of cultivation, the Nightwatcher could have a cultivation only version or substitute surge with it perhaps focusing on physical bonds, but I don’t know how that would work
And this is just a personal preference the stone theme we see from our only bondsmith just feels wrong
Overall the Nightwatcher’s bondsmith should help them avoid making a new oath pact. As reforging the oath pact just perpetuates the cycle of abuse and revenge that causes this war. And the books are ultimately about breaking that cycle and growing beyond them. A singer would make perfect sense for the Nightwatcher in this regard.
Small side tangent would be Vai’s mother being found/introduced, it also could be cool if she became a wind runner and her story could show how the elites of society pit the lower classes against each other and how the common human are not the singer’s enemies but those who enslaved and abused them (in this example the rich lighteyes). Also she could be extremely protective over Vai(the reason she wouldn’t be a will shaper) and perhaps her third or fourth ideal is about her balancing her job of protecting while avoiding controlling the people she wants to protect. Something like “I will strive to protect without force or control” or “I will protect all who need it, even if some have hurt me”. I will add more in another post
Thoughts on Rhythm of War...
(Semi-spoilers? Trying to keep it clean...)
-I cannot believe I just finished Rhythm of War and I'm about to start on Wind and Truth already.
-I cannot believe Taravangian... and that Cultivation thought that would actually work/help/make things better somehow
-Adolin has grown on me so much
-"WE CHOSE!"
-Chapter 85 about Dabbid had me 😭
-Chapter 104 had me screaming MOASH YOU F@#$ING BASTARD TRAITOR NOOOOOOOO that was awful
-It's funny that Lyft had the flute
-So many good quotes and conversations of course, like the one between Noril, Kaladin and Teft in Chapter 25 about darkness
-Navani "Don't let his lies become your truth"
-Syl's assertion that hair is gross because it oozes out of little holes and you just let it sit there 😂
- I'm still not sure how I feel about Venli
-I really liked how they ended things with Eshonai
- LOVED what happened with Rlain and the spren
Please send thoughts and prayers and luck as I start Wind and Truth 😅
You. Cannot. Have. My. SACRIFICE!
