Where Every Scroll is a New Adventure
I've felt and thought for as long as I have breathed. I feel the world say "no," right as I start to grow. I hear myself say "no," simply because I shouldn't grow.
I have taught myself that I don't matter. That everyone deserves the privilege I have Except me.
Or that I don't deserve Love and loyalty Freedom and Rights because I'm a sick bee that will bring down the hive I see myself to be selfish and ignorant and cruel.
I try to do everything perfect. Everything "right." I try to fight, even when I know I can't fight.
Wait. That's right...
I'm not fighter, I'm a writer. I make my own world, With my own rules. I conquer lands and start bands. I learn from others for my own story's progression. Why am I obsessin' over my perfection?
But then...
What should I be if not perfection? Am I an academic? A scientist? An artist? A queen? A princess? A lover? A woman? A thing?
Maybe Just maybe I'll simply be ... me
i could talk about the way she made me feel all day long, i had spent days and nights day-dreaming of the spontaneous adventures i longed to have with her
with my bare imagination, i could outline on a blank canvas the shape of her torso all the way down her hips
or the way her face lightened up when she shyly smiled
god knows how jolly my days would be with her divine presence
god knows she would be the cause of my sanity as without her, my heart turns wild and i lose my sanity unable to control my emotions and endlessly longing for love only she could give me
joy, only her eyes could give me, and freedom only she could grant me.
for her i would steal the sky a million times and over
for the joy she gives me has no price,
i would leap over mountains and cross oceans to simply listen to her speak of all her anime fantasies and all her favorite characters, to listen to her dreams and all the weird food combinations she loves.
You are going to laugh until your stomach hurts again. You're going to be in awe of a sunset. Watch your favorite show while you eat your favorite food. Find money on the street. Discover a great band you haven't heard of before. You will find your way back.
“If you inherently long for something, become it first. If you want gardens, become the gardener. If you want love, embody love. If you want mental stimulation, change the conversation. If you want peace, exude calmness. If you want to fill your world with artists, begin to paint. If you want to be valued, respect your own time. If you want to live ecstatically, find the ecstasy within yourself. This is how to draw it in, day by day, inch by inch.”
— Victoria Erickson
Don’t look at other artists and say “I wish I was that good” or “I wish I could draw/paint/do whatever you do like that”. Look at those artists, then look at yourself. You’re amazing. It’s said so often, but everyone really is unique. Look at your art and say “I’m amazing. Look what I’ve created. I’m so cool.”
Trust me, it works every time.
some of you need to make your bed and have a shower with a soap that smells nice, and then sit in a chair near the window and have tea with milk and read a hardcover book and see how your creative block is after that tbh.
Needed to hear this today
Your disabilities’ effect(s) on your schooling do not make you a bad student; you are not a bad student because you are disabled.
having a quiet life is so.. underrated. i don’t mean it in the sense that people who’re open and loud and busy aren’t important, but when our culture has significantly put so much emphasis on the definition of success as fame, extraordinary accomplishments, greatness and importance and excessive wealth, i think there is so much power to be found in our own anonymity. in the silence of life. in not being constantly perceived, analyzed and performing for the world. in being able to take a walk, smile at strangers and just notice the world without all that noise. taking the biggest pleasure out of the smallest joys, like a cup of coffee or blowing out birthday candles. knowing that our lives don’t have to be a grand spectacle for others in order to have worth and cause a good impact.
