Chapter 7 of the Crescent’s Ascent is out!! I’m already working on chapters 8, 9 & 10 and boy are things getting intense! I still can’t understand how I can love Leo so much but want to put him through all this. Like I’m writing it, but I keep deviating from my plan and adding characters and chapters that were nonexistent when I started planning this.

(BTW thank you all so much for 74 kudos! It might seem like a small number to some of you, but it’s my first Rise fic and my second fanfiction overall and I only received 4 kudos on the other one. I’m so happy people are liking it!)

Also in case you haven’t read it yet, basically if you like Leo angst, manipulative Big Mama, worried brothers, trauma and amnesia mashed together then this fic is for you! I update on Mondays and Fridays :)

The Crescent’s Ascent

Chapter 1: Normal (not)

Leo stared at his reflection in the mirror, his eyes weary and tired.

Pathetic.

He offers himself a cocky grin and winks, firing off playful finger guns.

“How we doing, mi hermanos?” he practices softly. “Say, wanna drop by Hueso’s later?”

He holds the facade for another moment before groaning and letting his face fall. He grips the edges of the sink so tightly that his knuckles turn white.

“Get it together, Leo.” He chides himself. “You’re the face man, so fix your face!”

He straightens his shoulders and tries out another smirk, eyeing the tenseness in the rest of his body. Using the mirror as a guide he shifts his weight comfortably to the side, unclenching his jaw and cocking his head.

Better, definitely better.

A perfect facade if not for his guarded eyes.

He grumbles and leans closer to the mirror, bracing his trembling hands on the sink. When had his eyes lost their sparkle? When had his vibrant personality gone so… numb?

It didn’t matter anyways, he had plenty practice putting on a show. He would just shove away his emotions and portray whatever the situation called for:

Raph typically needed him to act a bit more chill, to be continually at ease and level-headed, a plan and a quip ready for any situation.

Sweet Mikey needed a playful big brother, someone he could goof off with and talk to without fear of judgement. Leo was always there for his little bro, whether it be admiring his art or comforting him while he cried, the tender-hearted little turtle (er, big turtle).

Donnie just needed someone to give him company and keep the mood lively. He didn’t really show emotions and would rather die than admit he needed affection, but on the inside he could get overwhelmed and panicky when left alone for too long. He was also quiet, which allowed him to be productive at times but also allowed him to get trapped in his head. Leo know how to fix that, and knew that although his excellent puns could occasionally annoy his twin they also helped him remain level-headed. A wall to bounce his ideas off of.

Mash all of those expectations together and you get one Hamato Leonardo, the witty and hilarious face-man of the Mad Dogs.

Not the weak and trembling turtle staring at him in the mirror.

“Come on!” He growls at his reflection, “Why is this so hard?”

“Leo?” A quick knock at the door made Leo jump. Mikey’s chipper voice came to him again from the other side: “You almost done, bro? We’re gonna go on patrol, then Raph said we could stop by Hueso’s for pizza!”

Leo took a deep breath, ignoring the tightness in his chest. Knowing his expression would affect his voice he forced a smile. “Yeah, sounds great Mike! Be out in a few!”

“You sure you’re good? You’ve already been in there for a bit.”

“You think looks this good come at the snap of your fingers?” He joked back, and he heard Mikey snort.

“Yeah, yeah. See you in a few, then.”

“Yep! See ya bro!” Leo’s whole body sagged with relief at the sound of Mikey’s footsteps fading. He took a few deep breaths to calm himself. It was just a quick patrol, then pizza. Normal Leo would be all over this. Well, maybe not patrol, but a jaunt through NYC with his brothers? Maybe a race with Mikey, some banter with Donnie and a pizza-eating challenge with Raph? He should be thrilled!

His chest tightened again. But it would only take one misstep, he thought. One little fumble and all hell might break loose. Or worse, a Prison Dimension…

All because of one little failed catch…

Leo hissed and covered his head with his hands, trying to steady his breathing. It was okay, everything was okay. He was okay too. He just needed to keep on his toes and be perfect or at least not the screw-up he knew he was…

He could do that, couldn’t he?

And even if he did slip up, his brothers were there to catch him.

Duh.

Always.

Then why did it feel like someone the Kraang had his lungs in a death grip?

He huffed and shook his head to clear it. Alright Leon, showtime, he told himself, getting up from the bathroom floor (when did he get on the floor?). He put a grin on his face and walked out of the bathroom with ease.

I’m cool, I'm cooler than a cucumber, he encouraged himself as he rested one of his odachi across his shoulders. “Sup, mi hermanos. Your Face Man has arrived.”

There was a general groan from his three brothers, causing him to smirk. Operation Set-The-Mood: success.

“You’re late, ‘Nardo.” Donnie grumbled, tapping on his wrist tech.

Leo switches position, bracing the tip of his odachi against the floor to lean on it. “Excuse me, but a king is never late. Everyone else is simply… early.”

“First off, you should give up on that ‘King Leo’ idea. Never gonna happen. Secondly, you stole that from Princess Diaries.” Donnie replied in his usual deadpan voice.

“Hey, if the shoe fits!” Leo shrugged at the jab to his movie-reference. “But anyways, are you gonna stare at your tech all day or are we all gonna go out and have some fun?”

Donnie started to retort on his Cinderella reference, but Raph cut in before he could.

“Patrol first, then fun.” The snapper reminded, standing up and stretching.

“Aw, who says patrol can’t be fun?” Leo whined playfully, stomach twisting into knots.

“Come on, Leo. We gotta focus. We’re heroes!”

“Yeah, I’m gonna have to do an IOU on that pizza bite.” Leo joked. “But in the meantime, vamanos hermanos!”

First chapter of my new fanfic!<3

No one's interested, Aria. (I know I just have to post sth. I'll try to write something tomorrow)

My friend, @queerdeadwizards, has talked about the said fanfic a few months ago, and my lazy ass finally posted the first chapter! (Now I need motivation and I have to try not the quit wee-hee)

On short, the fanfic is about Regulus falling for a someone (Not James I swear it's not Jegulus) and screwing it up like a donkey he is. No angst btw!! Just 2022 muggle au! (Ah shit now I gotta add those tags) So yeah, I'm not shredding anyone's soul!

It's finally here! Baseball Kaisen is real, in collaboration with @rockingego , we have created a storyline to fix Jujutsu Kaisen's horrible death and tragedy filled existence. I know I posted about this like forever ago but we finally finished writing the first chapter. Updates could be kind of far apart just because we are both busy students and I'm involved in some very time consuming things, but each time they will be at least 2000 words. <3 enjoy!

SYNOPSIS

A couple of months ago, your father received the visit of a certain Sir Sharpe, Baronet, followed by a deal regarding a new invention that could revolutionize mining, and actions that could be granted to your family in the Allerdale Mining company in exchange for financing the prototype. Upon reception of a letter exposing the difficulties encountered in the making of the machine, which had now stalled the process despite how close to its success Sir Sharpe was, you insisted to go and aid him, something you are actually perfectly able to do, as you're the first woman in your country to have earned a Master's degree in civil engineering. Eventually, your dad conceded, on the condition that your twin brother William, an architect in-between contracts, accompany you on the journey to Allerdale hall.

There, beliefs will be broken, secrets old and new will resurface and entombed wounds will reopen. Can everyone, or anyone really, ever come out of Crimson Peak unscathed? Or are the horrors of love always inevitable?

Announcement 📣!!!

I pheo am proud to announce that I will be writing my very own fanfic on ao3 about my Cotl au the rise of new order!!! I am currently In the waiting list and will receive the invitation around the 20th so keep a look out for it!

I added chapter 2 to my Sonadow fanfic! In honor of spooky season this is a werehog chapter :) Werehog will not be a focus in this fanfic but I had this idea in my head for a while so I wanted to get it out. It takes place a few weeks after chapter 1. Enjoy!

Summary:

While Sonic and Shadow start to hang out more, Sonic has a hard time getting Shadow to stick around beyond their racing and sparring. One day, Sonic gets an idea, which ends up going sideways for him. Or does it?

Before I publish the first few chapters of my rewrite series, I’m looking for at least five beta readers who’ll check my work for any inconsistencies, typos, and any other errors that might be found.

Before I get into the main post, I wanted to adress the tags. I appreciate you being unbiased, and respectful towards my own opinions on the Marauders, truly appreciate it. Also, I don’t remember seeing you interacting with the post, and I can’t really go back to the post and its notifications since I deleted it and also muted the notifications received from reblogs. Either way, I think the comments were fine, my main concern were the anonymous asks I was receiving. Neither you, nor any other Snape stan have to apologize, by the way. I know the death threats were wrong, but I am also partly to blame considering that I recognize that I came off very aggressive, so I guess you can say that I also have tone issues. I am okay, thank you for asking. 

Now, on to the main point of this post. For the Marauders’ Era of the rewrite, since there’s so little that we know of them, it’ll follow some of the main plots like the “The Prank”, the Sectumsempra incident, the Marauders becoming Animagi and such. However, once they graduate, I’ll take matters into my own hands. I think that the Marauders’ era will be more about fixing the original, messy worldbuilding and making the war to be a bit darker. I’m excited, as I’ve got a couple of twists up my sleeves. 

Anyway, I hadn’t really considered the scenes when Remus and Sirius try to keep Harry from going nuts on the assumptions that Snape is a Death Eater by this I mean I completely forgot about that, but if you can tell me which chapters, I’ll be sure to reread them and see how it works for me. Thank you!

I do believe a lot of what we’re canonically shown through Snape’s memories, I just have a hard time believing that it’s exactly as he says it is because there’s also a lot of other things that we also know that really don’t match up for me. However, you’re right. The Marauders, as we’ve seen several times, were more about actions than words - which I think worked well (given all the lengths they went for each other, and later, for Lily), but also horribly (considering how they would react to getting insulted). 

In my rewrite, I want to balance it out a bit so that it’s them constantly trying to one-up each other because of their rivalry (sort of like Harry and Draco). But, like I said, once the Marauders cross the line to humiliate Snape, a lot is going to shift for them. 

I would love to chat with you about personal headcanons or theories, as I find myself enjoying that quite a bit! Only if you’d like to, of course. 

I have some advice for a way to portray the Marauders and Snape's relationship! They bullied him, but Snape was never defenseless (except for That Prank) and I think it started from some animosity on the train during their first year, them Snape continued to be a jerk. Snape seemed to be the only person that they were constantly picking on, so must've done something to earn their ire. They were pranksters, but not normally bullies. Most of the students and teachers had mostly good things to say about them.

I think a good way to portray it is that the Marauders and Snape constantly being at each other's throats in small, petty ways. The Marauders would only go after Snape when he deserved it or was being extra bloodcult-y. They were bullies because they all ganged up on him, but I don't think that was always the case.

I think they had some kind of moral code - they were Gryffindors after all, if nothing else, their honor would've stopped them from always going after him physically - so it was usually just one on one or two to one. The others would be the lookouts, or help them plan. They'd insult him and he'd fire right back.

Most of their pranks were harmless, I think, except for The Prank. Mostly cutting words and petty actions that didn't mean much at the time, but mounted up to he quite annoying.

We're going to see a lot of Snape's softer side during their fifth and sixth years, after his relationship with Lily ends. Lily will be grieving for their lost friendship, and will sometimes talk about fond memories with Snape. I don't want to spoil it too much, that is all you'll be getting.

Now, Snape is not going to be defenseless. He will lash out and get his revenge when he feels is needed. But neither will the Marauders. For the majority of the story, it's going to be a mutual rivalry, until the moment they humiliated him in front of the school - this incident is going to shift something within a lot of people, for the better or for the worst.
