Regulus has journals upon journals of poetry and letters that he never gave to James stashed under a floorboard in Grimmauld Place, forever untouched.
Regulus has a mole on the side of his neck and it's James' favorite spot to kiss. It constantly is red all around it just from James' attention.

he worried, and he paced, and half the time he panicked if he was left alone with harry for even two minutes for james to go to the kitchen and bring back a bottle.
james was phenomenal with him, a natural. james was born to be a father. lily was an amazing doting mother, it all seemed to come so natural to her. mary always made harry squeal with excitement the second she walked into a room. but regulus felt as if he could never be a good father. he never had a good example, so how could he be?
so when harry potter was eleven months old, and took his first steps towards regulus, who at the time was not even paying attention to him. and james and lily screamed in excitement, scaring harry and causing him to not only just walk to regulus, but run to him.
well, regulus figured he must of not been doing to awful of a job.
and as he held a now crying harry who couldn’t understand why everyone was screaming and being so loud, and clung to his papa with tear stained cheeks and soft coos. regulus decided it didn’t matter how terrified he was of being a father, because he already was one, and harry seemed to think he was doing a pretty good job.
The first time James truly talked to Regulus, met him and not just the idea and the concept of him that he knew from Sirius, was when he went to the Astronomy Tower one night to calm down after an incredibly intense panic attack. And James would look back at that moment, even knowing that what followed was a "what the fuck Potter?" coming out of Regulus' mouth (even though he was the one who fucking punched James) and say that that's when he started falling irrevocably and maddeningly in love with Regulus Black

Headcanon that James Potter loves giving head. He loves it, he can get off on just going down on Reg. He's having a bad day? He gives head. He just won a match and wants to celebrate? Gives head. He's BORED? gives head. He doesn't need anything in return he just enjoys doing it. And he can make a girl cum (or anyone who was assigned female at birth). He also enjoys when Reg sits on his face :).
James is pacing around the room in nothing but his pants a pair of socks and a open Hawaiian shirt "What about this one?" he asks looking around at his friends. "Reggie would like this right? I think it's great"
"a Hawaiian shirt? Are you being seri-sincere right now?" Remus throws a questioning look at him
He looks down at his shirt again "What-I okay your right it's stupid" he takes the shirt off and is digging through the clothes on his bed again. "What about this one?" He asks as he pulls out a yellow jumper. "Yellows a good color right?"
"yeah if you're a flower" Peter chucks on the side of Remus "You're gonna blind him mate"
"Okay-okay what about this one?" He throws on a navy blue flannel " It's nice right?"
"are you gonna leave it open like that?" Sirius asks
"I can pull it off open rights?" He's shaking his head
"Reg would love that" Remus chuckles quietly
"What-no James change please for my baby brothers innocence" he says while gagging
"Okay fine what about this one" he pulls on a white t-shirt and looks at his mates
"it's see through James" Peter kindly says
"What no it's not" me looks at the shirt and presses it into his chest "Damnit it is"
"You're really overthinking this mate. If you waste anymore time you're gonna be late" Remus says while Sirius starts gagging again dramatically
As if on cue Regulus interrupts from where he was leaning against the door frame with his arms crossed "Yeah you don't wanna keep your date waiting do you Jamie?"
James whips around so hard he thinks he gave himself whiplash. He can barely make out Regulus shape if he squints due to the fact his glasses are on the bed from all the shirt changes. "How long have you been standing there" He asks embarrassed.
"Around the opened flannel" James groans and covers his face.
Regulus walks towards the bed where all James clothes are, and picks out a red shirt along with a pair of brown trousers that are so dark their almost black and hands them to James. "Remus is right you're overthinking this; change darling" he says as he pecks him on the lips erupting a groan from Sirius.
He walks towards James's night stand where he keeps is jewelry and comes back with a necklace just as James finished putting the clothes on. He turns James around after putting the necklace on him and holds his face in place as he pecks him again. "Now I'm gonna go down stairs and wait outside of the portrait for you. When you come out I'm gonna complement your outfit and act like I wasn't the one who picked it out okay?" All James can do is nod.
Regulus waves to all the guys and goes to walk out of the room. "Where the black shoes please not your red ones the red ones will clash" He says as he closes the door. As soon as the door shuts and he hears Regulus foot steps fade away he looks at his friends. "I'm gonna marry him" he says with a absolute blisses out expression. Sirius gags are getting drown out by laughter.
Okay, we all know that sound off TikTok that says something similar to "it didn't matter how many times he changed the introductions or rewrote the story Aaron always fell in love with her.... Everytime". Well my brain refers everything back to Jegulus and I'd quite literally die if there was a fic written in the similar format about those two oblivious in love 70's boys. So hear me out.
Regulus oblivated James after Christmas hols because he was forced into getting the dark mark and couldn't stand putting James in danger in case he stayed or hearing James break his heart in case he left so in a act of selfishness and bravery he oblivated him that night in the astronomy tower. What regulus didn't know was that James had fell in love with him third year. He fell in love with the stories Sirius would tell, the picture that Sirius would proudly show off, and the rude spiteful little boy who he only met a handful of time. In the fear of losing his best friend he raised his wand to his temple and muttered the obviate spell in front of the mirror out of pure childish stupidity. He realizes now that it could've gone terribly wrong if he lost control of is magic or didn't focus on what exactly he wanted to forget but now he knows that when you're young and you're not rehearsed in a spell the images and thoughts come back with time. It lasted till fifth year till he started to hang around regulus a lot under the disguise of trying to bring both black brothers together again. They dated in private in fear of regulus's parents only allowing close friends in on they're secret relationship until that fateful night in the astronomy tower.
Ik this is only thought up half way and there is 100% plot holes in this. But I honestly think it would be a grate read especially if after the war James ends up falling in love with him again. I headcanon that Reggie is trans so I think it would be cool if James had fallen in love with him before he transitioned and even more after without realizing it to show the whole "rewrote the story" aspect.
Venturing out from the stairs he walks into the top of the tower. His lover turned towards the sky. For a silent moment he just observes allowing himself to fall even more in love. Finally regulus turns around eyes puffy and blood shot and within a second James is by his side.
"What's wrong love speak to me."
"I don't love you James" He says without look James in the eye.
"No" Caught off guard he backs up.
"James please I-I can't be with you I don't-I don't want you"
"Liar. Reg tell me what's wrong"
" No I don't-i don't love you. I no longer want to be with you"
" LIAR STOP LYING TO ME!"
" I'M NOT LYING!" He cracks. What's left of his stone cold walls drops the second he looks James in the eye to see tears already around the rim
"The truth Regulus"
"Fine you want the truth" Angry and frustrated he takes off his jacket and rolling up his sleeve revealing his forearm where the inked marked skin lays
"THERE! That is the truth I am a death eater! I am the thing you hate most in this world James I am evil!" Looking down at his lovers arm Regulus can see every emotion working it's way through James's face and and it ends with a face of indifference.
"Okay."
"Okay..." He can hear the gears in James's head turning
"They did this to you? They forced you to do this?" It may sound like a question but they both know it was a statement. The answer is already there.
"It doesn't matter" Because it truly doesn't no matter the circumstance they are still here in this situation. Hurting.
"Your a good person regulus"
"IM A DEATHEATER you can not love me anymore. I can't-I can't do this... us. I can't anymore" He knows he's speaking completely gibberish but his mouth is moving a mile a minute and he has no control. Why won't James just stop? Just give up and allow him to hurt in silence? To leave behind the best thing that has ever happened to him. Allow him to save the thing he loves most in the world from himself. And as if he spoke his questions aloud James opens his mouth. "No! Love is a choice reg and I choose you! I LOVE YOU! that is my choice and mine alone to make. "
" I'm a deatheater "
" I LOVE YOU! I will scream it until my throat is bloody and my lungs are empty. I will stand with you between the heavens and the earth! Between Voldemort and Dumbledore! I will tell you what you are! Do. You. Love. Me?!?"
" I LOVE YOU! The mo-the moment I saw you I have loved you desperately. I love you James my.. my heart calls your name"
Silence each of their minds processing the information, the emotions, and the devastation that both lovers feel. A moment after said silence they are in each other's arms. Mouths smashed together in a way that would be painful if it was not so deeply desired. A minute, a hour, or a life time could have passed by before they finally resurfaced.
"You love me?" James whispers with the most dopy smile
"I love you" regulus whispers back instantly
It's out now. Let the world hear it. Let tomorrow come and they will talk make plans. But tonight they hold each other.
