Hunter at Hexside! He’s about 17-18 in this and is a senior in this.

Explanation,

He takes advanced potions due to it being his first choice in ASIAS and I think it would be most familiar to him as it doesn’t require powers to do.

He also does advanced construction since alot of the magic we see him use when he was the golden guard besides teleportation was manipulating the ground around him and summoning objects (the sword in separate tides)

He does Bard because it’s a fun and new form of magic he can learn

Beast-Keeping as alongside palismen he picks up an affinity for animals from Camilla and Gwendolyn.

Abominations minor since he found them interesting from Darius and Amity.

He also dabbles in other forms of magic, illusions, plants, healing, even some oracle, but not enough to justify getting a class.

Hunter head canons #4

These head canons focus on Hunter home life. They next one will focus on Hunter life in Gravefield in general.

After the finale I imagine Hunter actually staying in the Human realm for bit since things would be pretty chaotic in the demon realm. Especially regarding the Emperors coven. Realistically I can’t imagine many witches or demons happy with the ex Golden Guard, Belos right hand man walking around freely, especially with emotions running high. You know almost being killed then having the collector take over, then almost being killed again.

Just imagine all the legal and ethic issues, (will get to this another time)

Camila basically being Hunter’s mom now. I personally don’t think Darius should be Hunter parental figure. I think Hunter should be with someone who hasn’t harmed him, especially after years of trauma and another major traumatic experience happening to him (looking at you Thanks to them). Hunter can reconnect and be friends with Darius another time. I also think Darius would be more focused fixing the demon realm then accommodate Hunters needs. Right now Hunter needs a guardian that will give him what he needs.

Anyways

Once hunter moves into the Human realm, I imagine Vee staying with him in the basement for a while since he’s afraid of being alone. (Everyone is scared of leaving him alone too). I imagine they develop a close bond with each other, different from how they bond with others, since they are both basically Belos, abused, illegal creations. After awhile they trust him to be alone.

Luz often stays at the demon realm and on those nights, Vee and Hunter swap rooms. Vee liking the basement due to how open it is and Hunter liking to smaller room. I imagine Hunter liking cramped, smaller spaces like closets due to how open the throne room was. Vee liking open spaces due to being forced into cages. Vee probably also constantly keeps doors open and probably showers with the door open too. (Might do some Vee head canons too!)

Mirrors had to be covered for a bit due to Hunter being unable to stand the sight of himself again. They teach him how to love himself again like how he did in “Thanks to them”. Though they do sometimes catch him staring deeply at his scars or brown eyes.

Him a Vee are often spotted hanging out with each other, with Vee often leaning on Hunter. When on the couch she’ll rest on him or lay her head on his lap. In return, during the sleep overs, Vee will curl around Hunter. I imagine Hunter being both a big and little spoon.

Hunter often goes to bed with Camila on bad nights. After all he never received that comfort before in the castle. He’s hesitant at first due to being “too old” to be resting with an adult. Camila insist that no one is to big for their moms. Hunter definitely doesn’t cry at this.

Different bonding stuff with Hunter Noceda :)

We all know that Darius taught Hunter to sew properly and it ended up becoming a hobby of his. Camila sees this a teaches Hunter to knit as well. Soon Hunter is knitting all sorts of things like beanies, sweaters, bags, etc. Hunter learns other crafts like crocheting, embroidery, weaving, ect. That boy is very crafty.

Camila shows that Hunter doesn’t just need to sew cloths but that he can also sew things like stuff animals, clothes for animals, and other neat stuff. He quickly becomes obsessed with making clothes and accessories for Palismen

Hunter starts volunteering at the Vet clinic and animal shelter with Vee and Camila and quickly realizes he has a bit of a affinity with Animals..

Hunter and Vee both like watching TV and bond together that way. They both like horror due to them being a bit desensitized but won’t watch films that focus on torture (saw sequels, hostel,ect) but they do like 90s and 80s horror. However they stoped watching Horror that has to due with possession after the ‘incident.’ They also like comedies though Hunter gets confused by the jokes and Vee has to explain it to him (even if she also doesn’t understand, she tries).

Hunter and Camila bond with 70s and 80s punk rock music. Bands like Green Day, Sex Pistols, Misfits,ect. Luz introduces him to the world of fandom music like FNAF or BATIM and he quickly becomes hooked. Also vocaloid. Vee likes metal and shows him all sorts of genres and songs, from alternative metal like Korn and System of the down to death metal like Cannibal corpse and Carcass. He prefers Punk but will happily listen to the music with her.

Hunter manages to drag Camila back into her Cosmic Frontier addiction.

They all go to cons together! Comic con, Anime con, sci fi con, ect. They do family cosplays!

Luz and Hunter draw together. Luz is surprised to see Hunter can actually sketch pretty good. He isn’t very good with fine details or color but he drew stuff in journals relating to wild magic, flapjack, Belos and battle plans. He good at sketching buildings, beasts, and plants. He can draw witches forms real good but struggles in finer details like faces, clothes, ect. Unlike luz’s character heavy art. While luz draws with pencils, markers, color pencils, and acrylic paints. Hunter is a charcoal, ink, and color pencil and water color type if guy. He draws a lot of animals, especially wolves. He makes to many wolf oc’s. He has folders full of drawings and extensive lore on them. Luz teaches him how to make drawings expressive, in return he teaches her how to draw buildings. They make collaborative art with Hunter doing the backgrounds and Luz adding characters.

Luz gets hunter hooked on Warrior cats and Balto.

Luz and Hunter exercise together. Or at least try to. Luz as she got used to an active life style in the boiling isles and Hunter due to being used to vigorous training. However this oftentimes turned into ‘Hunter basically torturing Luz’ session as he can be intense. Like getting up at 5:30 am and being like “you wanna run 6 miles with me” or “lets do 20 circuits”. Luz at first tries keeping up at first in disbelief before noticing Hunter also tends to overwork himself during these sessions. After a while she and the others convince him he doesn’t need to due all this, especially if it’s hurting him. Soon he starts waking up at 6:20 am and works out in a easier way to maintain. He and Luz are now able to go on comfortable jogs and hikes together.

Luz teaches Hunter and Vee how to ride bikes after realizing neither of them could. Hunter takes his bike safely very seriously.

Camila teaches Hunter to drive and he gets very excited as it’s like flying a ship. The whole family often go on drives together and blast on music.

Hunter becomes a history nerd with both Human history from do research on Gravefield and the Demon realm after him and Lilith discover historical text that Belos hid away. Hunter learns more about the history of Grimwalkers rather then just the biology and myths. (Spoiler alert, it’s not a very happy, will dive into it). He tells Lilith a lot about Human realm history. They slowly become friends through info dumping.

Hunter learning how to cook with Camila. He makes food for his friends and family! He’s decent at first, after all this guy definitely had survival training. He probably knows how to gut and skin certain beasts. Likely offered to do it for Camila when she talked about needing to buy food. She kindly declined his offer.

Hunter loves Camila’s cooking, he never had such homemade meals. He often had MRE’s or fancy cooked meals when attending dinner with Belos sometimes. Those were hit or miss. Sometimes going great or sometimes ending with him being poisoned or abused in some sort of way. When Luz says she wants fast food, Hunter is like “why? Mo- Camilas food is so good”. He loves his mamas cooking

Hunter making stuff animals infused with herbs and flowers (like lavender) and potions for calming effects. He makes them for his family and friends. He even starts selling some in the demon realm when tensions calm down.

Flapjack mimicking speech idea

(Not head canons, this is just for fun)

I know he’s not a parrot but I just got a random thought of Flapjack being able to talk or at least replicate noises, including human dialogue. Idk just imagine Flapjack with a parrot syrinx. Palismen are technically not real animals so hypothetically…ehh who cares this is a fanfic idea. Like the idea of an annoyed flapjack just barking at Hunter or telling him to “shut up” is funny to me.

So Flapjack often will sing to Hunter which is just whistling, however he will mimic the sound of other animals and even the sound of instruments to soothe Hunter.

To be annoying he will randomly mimic the sound of staff magic, like blasts n stuff and water dripping. Like mentioned he will randomly bark. He mimics the sounds of the other palismen like Emmlines cheeps and Ghosts meowing, it’s quite cute.

I believe Flapjack to be a chatty bird so when he isn’t talking to Hunter in the palismen bond style, he’s just making random silly sounds. Eventually he gets better at human speech and starts mimicking Hunter iconic “Human!” He starts referring to Luz as “Human!”

To be even more silly he learns the words “batata” and “mi amor” which is a bit embarrassing for Luz and Amity. Hunter laughs at this until Flapjack starts calling Hunter, “Baby” which is what Camila called him once (definitely just once). The crew laugh at him being called baby while flapjack just sits their innocently.

Flapjack soon learns more simple vocabulary like “no” “yes” “Good” “Bad” ect. He doesn’t talk much since theirs only so much his lil Syrinx can do.

I love how Hunters eyes are naturally a bit droopy

I headcanon that he squints his eyes to make himself appear more serious. However when neutral or not over thinking on how he presents himself, his eyes droop. He got those sleepy eyes, even after he finally rests lol. It makes him look a bit softer idk. I think he either has a resting bitch face or that

Hunter head canon #3

Hunter his whole life has done something guard related. From training to be a scout which are essentially foot guards to the highest ranking guard, the golden guard. He wasn’t just trained to guard he was raised guarding. It’s something he does thats probably second nature for him.

With that being said I truly believe he will continue being a guard to everyone he cares about even if it’s no longer his job and even if he barley knows that person. (gus and luz for example in labyrinth runners and hunting palismen ) It’s ingrained in him the same way sheep dogs will heard humans because it’s what they know.

So I imagine hunter instinctively standing up in front of the hexsquad unconsciously guarding. Even if they are simply hanging out. They ask him about it and he admits he does it without even noticing.

Of course a lot of these behaviors stem from PTSD like him being hyper vigilante and being prepared to defend from any possible attack but even in moments he knows he safe he’s always watching making sure they don’t get hurt by something little like falling and making sure their all secure. He’s not even violent just defensive.

He keeps them organized even if can’t keep himself organized, he becomes aware of their mannerism in a objective way, he guides them. They basically become his herd in way.

Even if Luz could be seen being the ‘leader’, Hunter is always next to her ever so slightly in front, like a guard.

Luz is also protective but that’s a habit she developed while again for Hunter it’s ingrained.

It’s quite cute actually if you ignore his past, him being a protective friend willing to defend the people he cares about no matter what.

In short Hunter got that Doberman/collie instinct in him lol

Hunter head canon #2

I feel like we need to remember that Hunter was treated like an adult and was around adults his whole life. Not just any adults but adults in the emperors coven and coven heads themselves. Who are shown to be, to put it nicely, catty. In result, Hunter himself can be very catty even if he doesn’t mean to be. The lack of knowledge to certain social cues and his overall sass can make him seem pretty mean even if he doesn’t mean to be.

I also imagine him being a young emperor coven head (for goodness sake he’s 16 and already the golden guard when we meet him) he was frequently the butt of the joke among other coven heads. So of course he needed to be just as harsh back to not let himself put down like that.

Like the hexsquad will be messing with each other for fun as friends do and he will just insult them and their whole existence and when the others tell him like bro that enough he’s like “oh no, did I do something wrong. Im sorry :(“ and the other have show him a difference between a joke and insult and the limits to a joke. He quickly learns and is understanding of course cause he does genuinely love his friends.

However with that being said, when he does start attending Hexside like he said he was he runs into some issues. For starters, I imagine him being ex golden guard and being a bit different (obvious scarring, weird personality, etc) many aren’t very kind to him. But what makes him hard to bully is that he can easily rebuttal back and do it meaner. He was surrounded by rude, powerful adults, he can handle some measly rude teens easily. Of course he still does get emotionally effected, he’s not a robot obviously. But he can defend himself and has others to help him

I also imagine he knows how to “professionally” insult people. Making his insults sound polite or be very passive aggressive. Like. “Just a friendly reminder…” or “we can’t all have winning ideas, we need people like you to help fill the roster” or “There’s no reason to be so humble, it’s quite indifferent” and other things.

Idk theses are just my thoughts as I feel alot of people make him seem idk… weaker I guess or a ‘pure soft boy’. He can be both soft n sweet but still a sassy lil shit. Their must be balance people

Hunter head canon #1

I imagine hunter sleeping like a dead person in a casket or of a medieval man dying of the bubonic plague. Idk he gives me that energy.

To make this a Huntlow post, in contrast Willow sleeps starfish style and takes up 70% of the bed while hunter is in the corner in his lil casket position.

When the gang have a sleep over and he falls asleep first (a miracle cuz how is that possible, probably was drugged ) and they have to leave the room laughing cause who sleeps like that

I also imagine with his stonesleeper lungs he stops breathing or looks like he’s stops breathing in his sleep. Added on with his pale complexion and eye bags he does look like a corpse (this gave Gus a heart attack at first witness)

Idk I thought this was funny

If Hunter were to start a scarf collection, what kind of scarf would you get him to add to his collection that currently measures one (1) scarf? (what color(s), patterns, fabric types, etc.)

Well well well… *rubs hands together gleefully*

This could not have come at a better time, my friend. I am currently pulling all of my clothes out of my bedroom closet in order to wash them and get them stored elsewhere in my house…I have a roof leak, probable mold problems, my bedroom and closet stay almost pitch dark all day which makes things even worse—let’s just say my house is a never ending source of most of my frustration in life. Okay, now let me get back on track.

Soooo, last night I washed all of my scarves and was reminded of how much I love them even though I don’t wear them very often 🫣 so I am going to use some of them as examples and/or inspiration of what I would dress Hunter in…I mean gift him, I mean, I totally wouldn’t be imagining any of these around his neck or watching a soft smile on his face as he realized I had gotten a gift especially for him…okay okay I’m back I swear.

Disclaimer, I did not look up proper scarf terms so I just winged it on trying to describe them.

1. Grey floral pashmina

If Hunter still had his season 1 armor, I think this scarf would be beautiful with his colors and the pop of red from his armor underneath. It’s soft and thick, and wide enough to wrap around like a shawl but still narrow enough to be a nice scarf as well. I think he would love it. It can be very dressy as well so a perfect fit for a night out or an event.

2. Striped wrap

In a similar vein to the above, this scarf is soft and extremely wide, it’s almost too thick for me to wrap comfortably around my neck. It can be used as a blanket, shawl, scarf, head wrap, a sling for carrying things (maybe even a very sleepy Omega??). It has his old and new colors, has infinite uses, and would honestly look very good on him.

Both of these scarves are brushed cotton but can I emphasize again just how soft they are??

3. Silk bandana/tie/belt

(This is nylon but let’s pretend it’s a nicer material). I might change the colors up a little bit from what I have, but these still work pretty well for Hunter. This long strip of fabric never wrinkles, has a really good flow to it while feeling completely weightless, and could be used as a nicer bandana to keep hair out of his face, tied up around his neck as a tie or bow tie or cravat situation, or even maybe tied around his eyes or wrists for, um…reasons.

4. Chunky knit infinity scarf

And of course, Hunter deserves a super soft, warm, chunky knit infinity scarf that he can just throw on and wrap himself up in when it’s cold. Similar to what he already has but much cozier for winter. I bet Crosshair or Wrecker would get bored one day and make it for him.

However, I’m not sure what color I would choose for him, actually. Probably red or maybe a burnt orange or even a darker greenish teal. Whatever accents his outfit underneath.

5. Lace triangle scarf

Okay, this isn’t self-indulgent at all 👀. I think Hunter would look super sexy amazing with some kind of lacy, delicate scarf that he could wear the way a bandana is traditionally worn. Whether it peeks out from under his armor and shirt or he wears it draping over the front of his cuirass just to look nicer or with nothing else he would look even more dashing and handsome in this. Navy would be a good color for him but he could also do a darker orange or red of course.
