Where Every Scroll is a New Adventure
Have a Bunji!
I drew this one to parallel Juji!
If your seeing this, this is your sign to PLAY GUNGRAVE SET UP A PS2 EMULATOR PLAY THE GAME. It's like yakuza but with guns IT'S PEAK!!!!!
And if you have played it is Overdose worth playing? Genuinely curious
I love how messy this looks. Very loose!
I feel art block creeping up my back aaa
Finally got these fuckers done yeah!!! Itās been a while since I put any effort into really drawing, especially for characters that I love. Because of Nightowās character designs already being so shaped for me I decided to simplify their designs even more. This is also the first time I experimented with line weight and I only screwed up a few times :)
Here are the original sketches for funsies!
(I tried to simplify the designs as much as possible. I started drawing Bunji but I havenāt finished yet.)

Do you ever think about how Brandon Heat felt about people trying to get closer to him? Starting with Widge and Gary who helped him become more familiar with being a new member of Millenion and sort of becoming his mentor figures which would then be filled by Big Daddy. Do you think that when Harry introduced him to Lee and Bob that he felt an ache in his heart as he witnessed them joking and talking with another because it reminded him of the gang he used to have a similar bond with? Do you think Brandon eventually started to push away Maria and even newcomers like Bunji who so desperately wanted to have a relationship with him because he didnāt want to go through that loss again? Because he couldnāt bear to lose anyone like he lost his old friends?
And since Overdose is implied to be a direct follow up to the Gungrave anime do you think Beyond the Grave feels a sense of deja vu when he sees how Juji, RB, Spike and Mika interact with each other? Does Grave have vague memories of him and the others Jolice, Nathan and Harry, how could he forget Harry would tease Kenny constantly as well as give each other shit just to mess with one another? Does he remember those days where he didnāt feel the need to constantly hide his true emotions from his closest friends? Did he remember the numerous arguments that Nathan and Kenny would have that made Harry and him separate them to prevent a brawl as Jolice laughed at their antics? Do you think that, for just a day, Beyond the Grave felt he still had a reason to continue his existence besides a promise he made to a woman he didnāt allow himself to love? That for the first time in what felt like an eternity whatever left of Brandon Heat experienced that connection to others that he used to have? That maybe Grave wouldnāt have to fight alone anymore now that he had others to watch his back?
Much to think about.
This isnāt in any order or anything this is just a bunch of thoughts Iāve wanted to talk about regarding this lovely series.
Trigun/Gungrave narrative & themes comparison: On a scale of "love and peace" to "kick their ass"
Brandon Heat is a combination of both Vash and Wolfwood
Is Bunji Kugashira similar to Nicholas D. Wolfwood in certain aspects besides appearance?
Vash & Knives vs. Brandon & Harry: Expectations of trust/loyalty
Bunji Kugashira's hangups about brothers (first Juji then Brandon?)
What's the history between the Kugashira brothers?
How canon is the Gungrave anime to the first Gungrave video game? Was Overdose supposed to bridge the two (appearance of Sherry???)
Why isn't there more Gungrave/Trigun crossover content?
Tsuneo Imahori is so good at music dude: How the Gungrave soundtracks create another layer of atmosphere & emotion
What the fuck was up with Gungrave VR & Gungrave G.O.R.E.?
How and why is Rocketbilly Redcadillac?
I want to see more hijinks with Juji and RB, they are sooooo
Why is Juji not in G.O.R.E.? (Sad but probably not canon idea that he was eventually overcome by the SEED in him)
What it's like to be a deadman aka why don't we let the Gungrave cast experience body horror too
Madhouse wanted the Gungrave anime to be a spiritual successor of the 1998 Trigun anime
Will there ever be another entry in the franchise after G.O.R.E.?
Trigun and Gungrave say aliens are real folks (maybe canon maybe not)
Beyond the Grave & Vincent Valentine: Two ultra sad goth bois that just want to take a nap in their coffins
Feel free to make your own post for any of these ideas or something. As I said before my activity on this blog is going to be pretty inconsistent so donāt expect anything from me anytime soon. Then again just last night I started writing a short little Juji story but I donāt know when Iām gonna finish it. I also plan to do fanart but motivation to draw has honestly become more evasive than wanting to write. If you have any questions or suggestions Iād love to read them in the comments or tags at least. See you guys later!
Jyuji slays all his thrift shop clothing,
Macklemore was a TRUTH for that song.
I'VE FOUND AN OLD JUJI SKETCH IN MY CAMERA š„š„š„
(People post their school doodles and sketches right?)
wowieeee gungrave brainrot
Welcome to the internet stiffs! Expect all types of craziness in the future. In all seriousness, I do have one question. How did Billy set up a Tumblr account in the first place? He doesnāt have a physical body, Juji is blind so he wouldnāt be able to type let alone see the screen and Grave isā¦well. Grave.
RB: "About that... I used a bit of electricity on my guitar to set that up, quite strugglin' a little; besides that, Juji uses the mic instead."
Juji: "Yeah, right; surprised for a question that isn't horrible."
Grave: "..."
(OOC: How did Juji sees Fangoram not harmin' Spike, he's blind??? Quite confused on that part, the cutscene literally shows his POV? š¤ Also about the guitar one, RB kinda controls it like the Wii controller.)
Wise words from Juji Kabane:
(This is so badly edited š)
is the gungrave fandom real please tell me u guys r real i want friends
More unusual Grave screenshots because I can
And I was looking at Graveās page for Overdose when I see this:
And like??
WHY was this not put into the game??? And more importantly, WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THIS????
(all 4 to 5 of you who still post)
I created this blog with the intention of adding my thoughts to this lovely series. Once again Yasuhiro Nightow tore out my heart right after I discovered Trigun. Even though Gungrave isnāt one of his more popular works I feel it still deserves some attention. While I admit that narratively Trigun still remains the more compelling of Nightowās works (I havenāt seen Blood Blockade Battlefront yet please no spoilers) I loved Gungrave enough to buy the Dark Horse artbook! Ranging from stupid shitposts and analysis on both the games and anime adaptation, I would love to discuss this odd little gem with others so feel free to message me!
(However, I should add that my attention span and willingness to share my thoughts with others is a fickle thing so if I donāt respond to you please donāt take it personally. Interacting with people in any sort of capacity drains my social battery.)
(This was an April Fools Joke) The old Gungrave games suck so much. I so HATE OVERDOSE!! The short runtimes, horribly written characters, terrible voice acting, and not to mention Brandon. Like Juji said, heās just a puppet for Mika. And I also hate Juji. Oh, and the anime? Even worse. It was so lazy and not introspective. Ugh. I totally love Gungrave Gore. Like, the graphics and game mechanics are insanely intuitive. And the new soundtrack? Amazing. Ditch the old left-head and right-head album. The characters too and the pacingā-especially the pacing, is so action-focused and totally make everything believable. I hate divulging canon, too, like all my aus and headcannons? It was all I lieā¦. My favorite character is Spike! Obviously! š”
Oh, and FF7? I HATE cannon divulgence. I like the cannon and I HATE any ships of the characters. And I HATE Cloud SO muchālikeā-so unrelatble and rude! I only draw Cloud because of the fansā influenceā¦.and any Cloud head cannons will NOT be tolerated! I am a strict OG lover! š«”
Itās kind of an AU timeline after overdose but before GORE, basically.
I love this so much!!! I rewatched overdose cutscenes and now Iām obsessed with Juji I guess š.
Have a Bunji!
I drew this one to parallel Juji!
I know I just rewatched Overdoseās cutscenes and I was like āOh yeah! Lolā
Yall forgetting that they have āsuper formsā in overdose
I just thought of this, but for the longest time (before I watched Overdose) I thought you pronounced āFangoramā like āFanogramā. Only when Juji yelled on the top of his poor lungs āFANGORAMā did I realized that Iāve been pronouncing his name wrong for basically a year.
Wow! Somebody posted this on Safari. This is pretty helpful. š
Gungrave brain rotā¦..thatās all Iāll say. š
Iāll probably redraw these digitally. Itās a little AU universe that I have that basically takes place after Overdose (pretend that GunGrave Gore doesnāt exist I guess)
