Regulus Black headcanons?
buckle up honey, this will be a long ride
he is the son walburga&orion didn't plan but the son that they wished for: quiet, obedient, that type of stuff. what i mean is, he's not like his brother
they do look alike, though, and there are only slight differences between them that make them look different; sirius' eyes are a metal grey, whereas regulus' are a silver grey
regulus has always been a lonely owl and preferred to be alone over being in crowded, filled places. they've always made him uncomfortable, ever since his childhood, so he liked spending his time with his brother (and cousins) during the pure blood meetings, rather than being in the center of attention
this, of course, extended to hogwarts, where he had a few friends that he made because they were his cousin's friends
one friend that he did have though? lily evans, solely because of the slug club at first. both were reluctant about their bond, lily because of regulus' background and the person he was known to be and regulus, well, because of the same thing. eventually neither of them gave a flying hippogriff about it and genuinely enjoyed spending time with each other
also, since this seems to be controversial in the fandom: regulus never hated sirius for leaving him behind. my headcanon is that sirius asked regulus to come with him (i wrote something about this once, extract: "at the same time, one said a thing, the other one said the opposite. "stay" said the youngest. "come with me" the oldest looked in his brother's eyes."), and regulus told him he can't. even if sirius wouldn't have asked, he wouldn't have blamed him, because he knew that's what his brother had to do
always two steps ahead of everyone, because 1. he is a brilliant observer and 2. he is so very smart
he's actually really intimidating??? he doesn't usually talk he just glares??? and when he talks he speaks in french and he's lowkey scary although he's 5'7"

started growing his hair out since his sixth year, by the seventh it was about middle-neck length maybe he wanted to resemble sirius in the slightest because he misses his brother idk

he can see the thestrals and he is friends with them, but he doesn't know how he can see them, because he doesn't recall seeing anyone die
after he finishes hogwarts he becomes the fair potions teacher that everyone loves, not some asshole who bullies kids who never did him wrong
