Where Every Scroll is a New Adventure
the balance of starting a new warrior cat arc and wanting to see all the fan art but also knowing spoilers are unavoidable…
an MAP of Florence and the Machine’s King for Bluestar
just started reading the second arc… this shits pretty goooood
i want to create OCs and stories heavily based on Warriors but it’s hard to motivate myself when it feels unoriginal :((((
HE DIED 9 TIMES?!!!! all at once?! i need a detailed description of tigerstar dying the book did not give enough
im a wind clan stan
im gonna be so deadass… I HATE SQUIRRELFLIGHTS NAME. i can’t read anything about her without only imagining a squirrel, any character design for her that i make is too squirrel adjacent BUT if you don’t follow the squirrel name its like ignoring a crucial part. i hate her name so much. it immediately makes me dislike her EVEN THO I HEAR HER CHARACTER IS ACTUALLY GOOD. it’s like a love interest being named “caleb” and you’re immediately like omg some boring ass mf. I don’t want to imagine squirrels when i’m reading about cats.
Request warrior cats you want me to draw! (as obscure as you want)
found a cat. Please give warrior names!!! staring with ___paw
if you guys like my cat art check out my art blog @larkinarting (tumblr & deviantart) or @ larkin_arting (instagram)! I’ll be posting future fan art on my art blog and rebloggong it to here :)
thanks for all the support!!!
junior year college is over. that means CAT GENDER NON-SPECIFIC SUMMER!!!
Fireheart seems like the type to get a motorbike in his youth and now he doesn’t now what to do with it/ doesn’t have the heart to get rid of it.
If I was a StarClan cat I would start shit just to make my day more interesting. Showing up in cat dreams just to give a riddle or stare them down and strike a little fear in their heart. You know, make a little cat drama.
It would be cool if each clan had an ember or a small fire they always keep going so certain festivals or ceremonies can include torches. it would also be something that is super sacred to each clan and keeps them all interconnected; if one clans flame somehow goes out can another clan let you use some of theirs?
If it does go out and other clans won’t share for whatever reason then you need to wait until the next fire in the forest. And do pick up the embers maybe there is a leather made from prey that can be worn around the mouth kinda like an oven mitt so it can be moved with minimal risk.
I think a clan fire/ember would add to the self sufficient society aspect of the WC clans and could add to the depth of their spiritual lives. It makes it especially interesting when you think about how their religion is confirmed real in their world. Each clan may keep their ember somewhere different (ex. Thunder clan keeping theirs in a rock tomb, Wind Clan keeping theirs in a tunnel in the middle of their camp…) and they all interact with the ember in a different way. Maybe only medicine cats can move an ember in Thunder Clan but in wind Clan because it is in the center of the clearing it is more of a communal sharing and honor for younger cats to carry it to light torches on fire.
Maybe the Sun is like the ember of star clan so during fall when the sun is setting earlier they don’t use it but during the winter they use it more to bring back the Sun (the ember of star clan) and during the spring they use it a lot, and during summer they don’t use it as much because the Sun is already out a lot. This could then make interesting plots where winter lasts longer than usual and rather than simply questioning why star clan would cause this they feel it is because they have not helped the sun rise enough with their ember.
Idk whether this would be something started by the founders or maybe around Firestar’s time or maybe it goes back before the founders. but i think something like this with a sacred object could add a lot to the society aspect of the clans and make it a little more cohesive. It could make the clans relationships to each other have higher stakes because if they went out on their own they would for sure not have access to another ember for a long time if it went out.
When i was thinking of this i was like okay that isn’t at all grounded in reality enough to be a cool headcanon but then i remembered they’re talking cats who talk to cat gods??? so i think it’s fine. also they use random plants to help with sometimes fake illnesses so if my HC breaks the universe a little that’s fine
there are not enough festivals in WC. It’s a society of cats and their only ‘festival’ is a monthly meeting? no i need cat season changing festivals. I need cat festivals that bring prey from StarClan.
There should be more rituals in WC surrounding battles and what to do with the bodies, idk what but somethinnggggg

windclan is also my favorite. dawn of the clans wasn’t a great series but god it was so cool for windclan. their aesthetic is sooo cool and all the headcanons are neat and i really like tallstar
This has probably been done before but I’m so curious! Reblog for a bigger sample!!

…Lostface????? What- what do you mean you named her LOSTFACE?! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT
“Dramatic Irony Should Have Limits: Why The First Arc is the Most Infuriating Piece of Media Ever Created” - an essay on why reading the first arc makes me want to rip my hair out and roll around on the floor
she blues on my star til i lose all nine lives. is this something?
Dawn of the Clans was such a cool concept for a wc book series! It’s so sad that female characters and certain plot points were just so weak; idk if it’s just that arc but it seems like later arcs just don’t have the best writing :,( like so much could have been done with family dynamics and everything but they were so determined to get from point A (no clans) to point B (the beginning of clans) they forgot characters are more than plot devices. Reading The Prophecies Begin after DOTC causes whiplash LIKEYOURE TRYING TO TELL ME ITS THE SAME SERIES?!!! there is so much fan made content i’ve read and seen that just blow DOTC out of the water with quality. Wish it could have a do over
This is all to say you should read DOTC if you haven’t
i love how seriously this fandom is about some stuff as if this universe is at all grounded in reality
While I still enjoy Warrior Cats, people praising it as one of the "best book series for children" ever written is kindaaaa a stretch to me. One of the first books literally kills a disabled kid for shock value. There's also the uncomfortable amount of incest/misoginy/racism that just worsens as the series progresses. Is WC irredeemable? Of course not, far from it. I just think that there are other series that are more deserving of that title, and WC aint one of them.
.
im not saying “don’t criticize the content you consume” but i am saying to have reasonable expectations
The Prophecies Begin book 1 is so good for so many reasons but oh my god that plot with Tigerclaw…
There is absolutely no reason to keep putting off letting the leader know that the current deputy killed another deputy and possibly helped plot the death of Lionheart!! Like why would that make sense Firepaw? WHY WOULD BLUESTAR NOT WANT TO KNOW?!!! AND WHY WOULD HIDING RAVENOAW AND PRETENDING HES DEAD BE EASIER THAN WARNING BLUESTAR?!!!
people in the WC fandom will be like like this cat is my favorite character and it’s a cat that shows up for 10 pages as a back ground character with almost no dialogue who exists only to make the world feel more full/plot device
so I've been thinking about it
and I think
DotC would've been more interesting if it explored more on the family aspect of things
Clear Sky, Jagged Peak, and Gray Wing are brothers who fall apart
Thunder is rejected by his biological father
it would be so cool to see DotC being about found family and what cats defined as family, for cats to choose who they belonged with and the Clans not forming from petty grudges and teaming up against Clear Sky
but by realizing that these were the cats that made them happy to be around
we get so many little tidbits of this, but that's not the overarching theme of the story and I think it'd be so much more fun if it was
Wind Runner, famously abandoned, learning that she's allowed to trust cats again and make her own family with Gorse Fur by her side. That she's allowed to have a family that won't hurt her.
Tall Shadow losing loved ones - namely her brother Moon Shadow - and making her family something safe that she could protect and that could, in turn, learn to protect each other
River Ripple having once known a proper family, but losing and and turning his group into a loving home, one where cats are welcome no matter how their paws brought them there and turning it into a community like that he grew up with
and then getting to the biggest missed opportunities;
Thunder, being torn so many ways, learning that family isn't always blood. Family is who you want to be around, those you want to protect, but also laugh with, learn from, and teach in turn. That just because Clear Sky sired him doesn't mean that he has to be loyal to his father.
And a Clear Sky redemption arc where Clear Sky learns that family isn't something you control. That family doesn't mean you can hurt those you care about, even if you believe it's for the 'greater good'. That all cats are their own person and trying to strip them of that doesn't make you good family and that you can lose the ones you love.

or at least
those are my feelings
