Where Every Scroll is a New Adventure
We’ve all been wearing masks for the last few years to prevent the spread of covid-19 and still could recognize each other, or at least the people that we saw daily, and yet no one has addressed superhero masks that cover like their eyebrows and the bridge of their nose. By those half mask standards, I have a secret identity too. We all do. Except the Karens who wouldn’t wear masks. They’re the villains who want attention from the media. #artimitateslife #andlifeimitatesart
But like seriously, superhero masks are something we should just call plot holes by 2020 after the coronavirus mask mandates. Just think about the whole love square in Miraculous Ladybug. Listen, Marinette, if I can recognize my crush when the bottom half of their face is covered then you should be able to recognize Adrien in what is essentially a pair of sunglasses. Guess you haven’t longingly stared into his eyes as much as the show would have us believe.
There’s also Steve not recognizing Bucky on the bridge before his muzzle fell off (though I will give him a break because his bf HAD been dead for over seventy years to his knowledge) so from now on I will be imagining that the Russos just forgot to show us Steve’s inner monologue of “isn’t that Bucky?? No Bucky is dead :( wait but what if it is Bucky?? I mean Coulson came back. And Loki. Loki has come back many times. Wait okay no I think I’d recognize that icey blue glare from decades away, that’s the Bucky look for ‘Steve I told you not to do the thing why did you do the thing I’m gonna kill you’ except this time he’s actually trying to kill me,,,, oh is hIS MASK FALLING OFF oh is that his mask there on the ground oH I KNEW IT WAS “Bucky??”
And I know people have talked about why it actually would make sense that the lack of glasses would make it hard for the world to know that Superman is Clark Kent but I’m gonna bring this one up anyways because guys we can all recognize one of our coworkers without their glasses on there is NO WAY that Lois Lane a woman who’s PROFESSION is deduction of events which she then reports to the general public cannot recognize her coworker in a costume. If you saw the lady who works at the front desk in a cheerleader outfit you’d still know it was her, but Lois can’t for some reason do the same with Clark?? She does her journalism all day with her right hand man Clark by her side RIGHT UP UNTIL she reports on Superman (which she does quite often, might I add) who is just Clark in spandex and No Glasses™️ and you’re telling me that this lady has no idea they’re the same person??? She works with one of them all day and then is gazing at reporting on the other one the rest of the time and has no idea??? Also I get that Clark is the alias and he’s actually Superman the man from Krypton which is why he makes less effort to conceal his face as Superman because that’s him and Clark covers up with glasses because it’s a clever plot device to show which one is his true self, but can we talk about how he MAKES LESS EFFORT TO CONCEAL HIMSELF AS SUPERMAN AND YET ALL THE PEOPLE HE KNOWS AS CLARK STILL DO NOT KNOW HE IS SUPERMAN???
I’M OFFICIALLY COMING FOR ALL COMIC BOOK ARTISTS, DIRECTORS, ANIMATORS, AND PRODUCERS WHO DON’T COVER THEIR CHARACTERS ENTIRE FACE AND PRETEND THEIR IDENTITY IS STILL IN TACT. IF THE PANDEMIC HAS PROVEN ONE THING ITS THAT IF YOU KNOW A FACE YOU KNOW THAT FACE AND HALF A MASK DOES NOT CHANGE THAT SEND TWEET

I think she’s younger in this. Probably when she first mutated so like 11
She’s 16. She mutated when she was 11. She started being a superhero a little after Spiderman showed up.
So I have a few superhero OCs, one of my favorites being Calico, a mutant with the abilities and appearance of a calico cat.
She has cream colored fur everywhere except her face, large cat ears on the top of her head, claws, slit pupils, sharp caine teeth, and a fluffy tail.
Powers include: Night vision, agility/flexibility/landing her feet like a cat, smell and hearing enhancement, and she can look more human (she doesn't have full control over this one, and it takes a lot of effort to stay human-looking)
All the art I have of her is old and terrible, so I'll update it later.
My idea, what if Captain America brought Calico in for the airport fight like Iron Man brought in Spidey? And, WHAT IF THEY KNOW EACH OTHER?? AND THEY ARE FRIENDS?
Like:
Calico spots Spider-Man from across the battlefield: HEY!! SPIDEY!! IS THAT YOU?
Spider-Man punches Hawkeye: CALICO? HEY!
Calico: MAN, WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON THE WRONG SIDE?
Spider-Man: I’M NOT ON THE WRONG SIDE! YOU ARE!
Ironman: Underoos! What are you doing?
Spider-Man: I'm yelling to my bestie.
Calico: Awww, I'm your bestie?
Spider-Man: Yes, you are! When did you get so close to me?
Calico: A few seconds ago.
Iron Man: Underoos!
Spider-Man: Fine.
And then they end up fighting each other (because they have to), and they have a Clint and Nat moment where they are like:
Calico: We’re still friends, right?
Spider-Man: Totally.
Calico: Cool! 😁 *sweeps his legs with her tail*
I don’t care what anyone else wants, I’m making this AU.

what if Steve Rogers was the guy who drew the “Kilroy was here” meme during WW2
All of those “team cap comes back and just live off Tony’s wealth without care for him until finally someone shuts them up” has the exact same vibe as all the suitors just eating Odysseus out of home during his 20 years away from home. Especially since Odysseus comes home and kills them all. I've read a couple fics were Tony either kills or exiles them (somehow idk the logistics of that ever truly happening in the mcu)
besides the well-known fact that tony stark's arc reactor literally powered his heart and symbolised his second chance at life, it's been not just alluded to but clearly stated by marvel from the very first iron man film that it represents his heart:
this point is made very clear again when it's used to portray his death:
of course they did this; they're such obvious metaphors that are easy to rely on for beautiful visual storytelling. they undoubtedly were aware of the potential for these scenes and carefully considered them since the beginning.
but you don't really get to use each of these moments more than once if you want them to matter, so they had to choose which one of tony's stories needed to be told through carefully picked parallels.
and who did they use them on?
yup, that's right. steve rogers. steve, who literally ends their painful fight by breaking his heart.
steve, whom tony literally hands his heart and says "here, take this" while he's devastated, disappointed, and at one of the lowest moments of his entire life.
so, platonic, romantic, alterous — the intricacies of his feelings don't even matter. they're only for tony to know.
but what we as an audience know, what we were explicitly told by marvel, is that the feelings tony had for steve were so strong that they were the equivalent of getting his heart actually shattered into pieces, and being reduced to offering your desperate, mourning heart on a platter as a way of saying "take it all, there's nothing left of me that you don't own now".
these were not accidents. we were meant to understand how profound his feelings were. so many things spiraled out of their falling out — the entire universe's faith was at stake as a result. tony was not indifferent to him. his problem was that he felt too much.
tony's achille's heel was always steve rogers, and that will forever be the backbone of the marvel universe.
Just rewatched Captain America: Civil War and its so fucking obvious how wrong Tony is at all points throughout the film. So here is a list of shit he does in the movie that pisses me off extra (not im chronological order):
- Signs the Sokovia accords and then hunts down his buddies for breaking, AND THEN HE BREAKS THEM HIMSELF. Also he forces everyone to sign the accords due to the guilt he feels.
- Blackmails a 15 year old into fighting two super-soldiers and a girl who controls matter (not exactly sure what her powers are but you know that im talking about Wanda).
- Locks Wanda up in the compound against her will.
- Asks Vision to shoot down Sam, Vision misses and hits Rhodey. Then he gets mad at Sam and shoots him in the chest when he comes down to check on him. Like that shot was meant for Sam and it would probably have hurt him so much more, seeing as he is not in full armor, and I strongly doubt that Tony would have stopped and checked on Sam.
- And then he attacks Bucky like crazy after finding out he killed his parents, which would be completely valid and understandable except for the fact that Bucky did it under mind control. Which Steve tells him.
- And then theres the end fight, where he is doing anything but pulling his punches, maybe hes pulling them a little for Steve (I wouldn’t be too sure of that). He shoots his blaster thingies at their bare skin.
Look i used to be a Tony fan, and then i grew up. I know that not everyone agrees, but these are the problems that i find with him in this movie.
Am I crazy for just wanting the Avengers to be friends? Like my favourite fanfictions are domestic ones where they all live in Avengers Tower and like aren’t fighting each other. Civil War is an undeniably well made movie, and yes conflict is important for plot and all that but I have trouble watching it. Probably because I just want everyone to get along, have team movie nights, and bicker about what fast food place to order from.
This should get more, much more attention.
Let’s talk more about things from Part 1 today:
“Tony was actively attacking someone from behind, who was just trying to leave.”
Eh? So how did that happen that he only attacked from behind ONCE? Semi-behind, to be exact - see my post with Part 1. Why Bucky tried to leave if he was innocent? Just like he did before with T’Challa. “Why did you run?”.
I’ll add the extension of that statement here so we could figure the whole thing out: “Steve was actively defending said person in any way, even if that meant attacking Tony from behind.
And before you get on me about how I'm being hypocritical - it's been done - it isn't the action that's being criticized, it's the WHY behind the action. Tony repeatedly attacked someone from behind who was only trying to flee the scene vs Steve repeatedly attacked someone from behind to protect his best friend from being killed. That's the difference between the two. You can't hold them to the same standard when their reasons for doing the same action are complete opposites. It isn't the action; it's the reasons BEHIND the action.”
Let’s think about the most appropriate thing Bucky could do in the scene instead. Well, first he could say “I’m sorry”. That would be a good start. Doesn’t matter if he was brainwashed or not – his hands were used. “Sorry” is always good in such situations. He didn’t do that.
Instead he raised his gun at Tony and was ready to fire at his face (CA:CW 2:03:15). Yes, Tony hit Cap there. But it was for a reason. And you simply don’t point a gun at a guy who just watched his parents die by your hands, if you are innocent and truly regret this. It was so wrong to attack him that it just showed Bucky’s position “there’s nothing to explain and nothing to apologies for”, if the best thing Bucky could do is to raise his gun and run. Low and cowardly.
But we should actually take a closer look at that scene (starting from 2:02:17), because it’s even more complicated if we watch the scene frame by frame.
2:01:33 – Tony is watching the video of his parents’ death. Steve looks at him with a very interesting expression. At him, not at the video. He already knows what’s going on there. He is looking at Tony for his reaction.
2:01:38 – focus on Bucky who looks a bit regretful, looking at the floor first, but then raising his eyes to Tony.
2:01:53 – Tony hears his father saying “Sergeant Barnes” and his mother calling “Howard!”. Tony glances at Bucky.
2:02:05 – Winter Soldier hits Howard in the head and kills him. Tony’s expression tells us he is enraged.
2:02:25 – Winter Soldier kills Maria, strangling her with his biological hand.
2:02:33 – video ends with Winter Soldier shooting at the camera. Tony is in shock. Steve is looking at him, saying nothing. He had enough time to say something.
2:02:40 – Tony turns to Bucky and makes a step towards him. Not putting his helmet on. He is not attacking yet. Most probably he just wanted to grab him by his jacket and ask some questions or something like that. What Bucky does? He raised his gun at him. We can see tears in his eyes. Why did he do that then?
2:02:42 – Steve says “No, Tony. Tony”. He says that to calm him down, and that would be a good start. But then he does some “stupid-ass decisions”, how Fury would put that.
2:02:45 – Tony turns to him. He is devastated. He just realized something. “Did you know?”. Steve’s eyes are shifting rapidly, and after a long pause (when he was thinking of what to say, I guess), he says “I didn’t know it was him”. By his behavior here we can infer that he is lying. Tony sees it “Don’t bullshit, me Rogers. Did you know?”. Steve looks Tony in the eyes and swallows hard. “Yes”.
Let’s make a digression to show Steve really knew that Bucky killed Tony’s parents.
CA:WS 1:04:50 – Zola is explaining how Hydra eliminated unwanted individuals. Chronicle footage shows Bucky with a sniper rifle and then next frame with news article about Starks’ death. Zola says “Accidents will happen”. Next few frames show Howard in the car in the same position Bucky left him in the CA:CW 2:02:10 scene. Then Fury’s file is shown, “deceased” – another victim of the Winter Soldier. No need to be a genius to put two and two together. Especially when you don’t know that there were other Winter Soldiers yet. There were no other options – Steve and Nat knew that Howard was killed by Bucky from that exact moment. But let’s add more evidence, shall we?
CA:WS 2:05:28 – Natasha gives Bucky’s case files to Steve. Logic tells us that they should contain his targets. Including Howard and Maria.
CA:CW 2:15:52 – Steve’s letter says “I know I hurt you, Tony. I guess I thought by not telling you about your parents I was sparing you, but I can see now that I was really sparing myself. And I’m sorry…”
Conclusion is pretty clear, isn’t it?
Let’s get back to the pre-fight situation:
So Steve admitted that he knew who killed Tony’s parents (and his own old friend btw).
2:03:05 – Steve’s “Yes” hits Tony. Rogers is just looking at him there. No sorrow or regret in his eyes. Tony loses it.
He is the victim in this scene. He came to help and was betrayed again.
2:03:12 – he hits Rogers with back of his hand. Cap is thrown a couple of steps back.
2:03:15 - Tony puts his helmet on. Now he is going to attack.
Put yourself on his place and answer the question “wouldn’t you act the same way?”. If your answer is “nope, I wouldn’t” - try to pass a CAPTCHA, because you are most probably a robot.
Same moment – Bucky points his gun at Tony. He almost opens fire, but Tony shoots the gun with a repulsor, knocking the weapon out of Bucky's hands. Back to the beginning of this essay – why would you shoot at a victim? Tony, most probably, would just hit him couple of times using his hands, if he had not faced counter aggression.
Bucky is not running here. He wasn’t trying to run until Steve told him to at 2:04:02. He is attacking Tony. Look at his face (2:03:17). This is not the face of regret or sorrow.
There are two major break ups in the Marvel universe.
First we have the great Civil War breakup between Steve and Tony.
Second is the Cuba Beach breakup between Charles and Erik.
Neither are pleasant, both stem from different points of view, and both are commonly ignored.

“you’re just thinking it’s a small thing that happened; the world ended when it happened to me” (it’s steve and tony in civil war guys)
I am a firm believer that after a Civil War where everything ended well that Nat was the one to teach Bucky how to tie his hair back/how to manage it. no I will not elaborate
If you hate on Tony Stark or Iron Man you suck. You just suck. If it's constructive criticism of his character or his actions or morals that's different, but if you just hate him cause "he's selfish" or "he's not really a hero" or "he's the worst of the Avengers" then you suck. If not a hero, what is he? He didn't start off as a good guy, but he realizes what he did wrong and changes it, and he does it without completely changing who he is as a person.
Tony Stark may be selfish and an asshole, but that does not make him selfless. He literally sacrifices himself in Avengers, and its not because he thinks he can make it or because he wants attention. He just cares about everyone and the world. He has trust issues and he's worried about himself, but he's also so worried about everyone else. He cares so much for Pepper and Happy and all of the Avengers. He is just scared to express it because bad things tend to happen when he cares about people.
I understand the criticism of him in Civil War, mostly because of how he brings Peter in, but from his pov it's perfectly reasonable. He agrees to the Accords because he is full of guilt. He feels like if he and the other Avengers agree to it the world will be a safer and more just place. They'll have accountability. Honestly it makes perfect sense from a civilian point of view. I'm not saying it was the right call or that Steve was wrong, his pov was perfectly reasonable too, given his history. But then Steve left and took half of Tony's family with him. Then he sided with- for all Tony's seen- a terrorist and the very thing he's trying to stop. Then when Tony finally realizes he's in the wrong, he finds out that Bucky killed his parents (the fact that he was being controlled was irrelevant at that point) and Steve knew about it. Knew about it, talked to Tony several times, and didn't tell him. Tony reacted rashes, but he literally found out that his best friends best friend killed his parents.
The thing about Tony bringing Peter in and not telling him anything is totally reasonable. Peter was just a kid, I know Tony was desperate and that Peter was already fighting bad guys, but it was still a bad call. I do think that Peter was told more than what was shown in the movie, and that he would have agreed with Tony regardless.
Anyway, this was just a really long rant post because everyone hates on Tony or says that there was no way Civil War could be right on both sides. This is not an invitation to hate on Steve or anyone else. It's definitely understandable from both sides unless you Don't Want to see both sides.
oh man i could go on about how the song "hurt" by nine inch nails is a song that perfectly represents bucky and to a lesser extent bucky and steve's relationship, but i won't,,
SIKE
the entire opening of the song just perfectly encapsulates how bucky would feel after he pulled steve from the potomac and spent 2 years on the run. we know that bucky was controlled not only by manipulation and the wipes but also with physical (and implied sexual) assault. we we see pierce slap him when he doesn't comply, which doesn't faze anybody, meaning it's completely normalised. rumlow also says this to sam:
"there are no prisoners with HYDRA. just orders. and orders only come through pain."
the clever trick in this line is that at surface level we think rumlow is referring to the fact that sam would never be kept prisoner, he would just be immediately killed. however it's clear upon inspection this line is a direct reference to the winter soldier: he's not seen as a prisoner as he follows HYDRA'S orders, and he complies through means such as pain (i.e torture to make him subservient). this makes the meaning of the line "the old familiar sting" to be that he finds familiarity (and possibility stability, which brings comfort to his changing world) in pain.
"i hurt myself today, to see if i still feel. i focus on the pain, the only thing that's real." it's very possible that whilst on the run, bucky was paranoid that this was all a dream and that he'd wake up back in hydra's biddings, therefore he used methods of self harm to make sure it was real, to ground himself. additionally, by condensing pain as the only real thing in his world, for a brief period of time whilst self harming he allows himself to effectively block or repress all of the thoughts haunting him.
"try to kill it all away, but i remember everything." this demonstrates bucky's memory slowly coming back without the wipes, shown through him writing in all of the those journals in civil war. he has memories of his assassinations, so he views himself as killing all his memories when he's having a nightmare or flashback, as that's literally what he's doing: murdering another memory of a person. but unfortunately, he can't stop himself from remembering, no matter how much he tries.
"what have i become?" bucky is haunted by all of the horrible things he's done and the fact that he has completely changed, he does not recognize himself, it has been 70 YEARS - he spent nearly 30 years as james buvhanan barnes and fucking 70 as the winter soldier, double that of his original life. if you go back to tfa and then watch tfatws, you realize just how much he's changed (and i'm saying this as somebody who thinks his trauma was toned down). he's just fundamentally not the same person.
"my sweetest friend, everyone i know, goes away in the end." god hate talking about endgame steve and he doesn't exist in my mind but this shows exactly how bucky would feel when steve left, his sweetest, dearest friend has gone. everyone who he knew is now dead, or has left. he also probably believes that it is his fault that steve left, as he wasn't good enough to make steve stay because he wasn't the "real" original bucky. he refuses to form emotional connections with other people because he believes he will destroy everything and everybody will leave him due to the horrors he's done, which is why he's so distant to sam at the beginning of tfatws and near completely isolated.
this one's interesting as you could interpret it completely as steve's thoughts towards bucky.
"full of broken thoughts, i cannot repair." steve knows that bucky has been traumatised severely and that steve cannot simply fix it all, he cannot fix all of the things that hydra put into bucky's head that go far beyond just the activation words. this can be seen as him saying this through a thick lense of guilt, he feels ashamed of the fact that he is not good enough to repair bucky's "broken" brain and that bucky is irreversibly changed by what has been done to him.
"beneath the stains of time, the feelings disappear." this one is very interesting as you can view this as steve believing that due to the simple passage of time of 70 years alone, bucky's feelings towards steve have been reduced to nothing as bucky no longer remembers steve, he's just a footnote in his life. (and he's wrong because steve was bucky's lifeline). steve sees time as a "stain" for bucky because bucky's whole existence during hydra was negative, as well as the fact that whilst steve was napping on ice, bucky was getting tortured which makes steve feel immensely guilty. (not looking at YOU, endgame steve!)
"you are someone else, i am still right here." this obviously portrays steve's outlook on how they have changed. bucky has been completely changed, he lived through those years, he was concious and suffered unspeakable damage, steve went into the ice and immediately woke up as the exact same man with the memories of 1940 fresh on his mind as being a day ago. for bucky, even with his memories back, 1940 may be foggy to him simply because it was so. fucking. long ago for him and he had so many other haunting memories afterwards. i also think this line is steve showing his unyielding, unrelenting stubbornness towards bucky: no matter what, no matter the absolute worst case scenario, steve is still there for bucky. he's still here for him despite the fact that bucky has changed.
i believe these final line of the song portray how bucky feels about his life: if he could start it all over again, he would do everything in his power to not become the winter soldier as he knows he lost so much of himself and was shattered into pieces. the idea of "starting again" could also imply if bucky was able to start from the very start of the winter soldier days, he would immediately find a way to kill himself so that he didn't lose himself, as he believes his death would've been better than the subsequent life he lived. we already know that bucky was suicidal and the only thing that kept him going in romania was steve - imagine how he felt when he was a captured pow in 1940's and was told captain america died. it's completely believable he tried to attempt suicide somewhere in the early days of his capture, and he wishes looking back that he had succeeded by "finding a way" in order to keep himself.
of course, much simpler, this could be bucky reminiscing on life BEFORE the war even, as he already started murdering people during the war and was experimented on at krausburg, both of which would've affected him deeply. bucky envisions a life where, from the very beginning, he didn't have to suffer through what ultimately lead to him falling off that train, a fantasy life where everything was okay forever.

“Stand down, final warning.”
“I could do this all day.”
SUMMARY: peter announces that he has to fly half way across the world out of the request of Tony Stark, and he comforts you in reassurance that he’ll be alright.
WARNINGS: short & sweet. i accidentally deleted the first post, go me.
It was a whisper, like a gentle breeze of calm wind. An elixir of soft sentiments that lingered with the warmth of his presence. The words, melded with this breath, met with your bare back, a shiver crawling up your spine that left a trail of goosebumps to arise in his wake.
“Y/N.” You felt the callous pads of his fingers gently tracing the soft skin on the nape of your neck, brushing your hair aside. His hands threaded between the wispy tendrils, crowned around your head as if they were to form a halo. Lips found their way to your chin, a fragile stamp that had you clenching your teeth to abstain from gasping aloud.
Peter hummed against your skin, knowing that you were awake. Nonetheless, his kiss remained, peppering down your neck and coalescing with your skin. His touch left you breathless, tinting your cheeks with a glowing affection.
“Y/N.” Bliss rolled from between his lips, husk and raw. Sweet, loving, and whispered it came. Like honey resonating from his tongue and sifting through every fiber of your body. It came again, pouring from the delicate kisses that were being lovingly pressed up the small of your back to the corners of your shoulder blades.
You turned your head, your temple resting on the pillow and hooking onto the warmth of the eyes peering from over your shoulder. His hair was fluffy, curly strands of nutmeg underscoring the ivory of his face. A somnolent smile pulled up the corners of your lips at the sight of him, your lashes drifting close when he assailed another kiss at the corner by your ear. He trailed off with dulcet sigh, intruding the silence.
“Y/N.” You snapped your irises open, solidifying the honey and swiveling your body at the urgency laced between his vowels. You lay back, ogling the boy hovering over your flushed body. His mouth went to open, ready to vocalize, yet you brought your hand up, gingerly placing your palm on his cheek, promptly barring him silent.
“It’s five a.m., do you realize that?”
Peter shook his head bashfully, captivating his bottom lip between his teeth, instinctively leaning into the amenity of your tender touch. You pushed yourself up from the linen to reach him, intertwining your other hand through the flat coils of his ruffled hair.
“No, I…” The boy paused, unsure of how to put his epiphany into the form of words. “I just had to see you.”
You beamed with vehemence, shifting and bringing his body down to lay beside yours. You leant your head amidst his chest, sighing affectionately when you felt his fingers brush against the underside of your jaw. The serenity of your euphoria filtered the room with a haze of golden warmth.
“Y/N?”
You hummed a response, enduring in the ardor of his being.
“I-I need to tell you something.”
“Mhm?”
You could feel him hesitating, his tongue rolling slack as he held the words before they fell prostrate onto you. As encouragement, you traced your hand over the ivory skin of his arm, pleasuring in the ripple as he shivered.
“I-I’m leaving.”
You sat up briskly, your eyes wide and doe-like as you peered down at him, lips parted with unfounded words. The slight furrow of your brows spurred him on, and he too straightened up. “What?”
“W-Well for Mr. Stark, I-I need to go.” You watched intently as he took in his bottom lip, the intensity in his eyes sparring with your own. “I have a chance, finally! It’s in Germany and-“
“Germany?” Your heart dropped, emitting a gasp as Peter persisted his ramble. You didn’t know what to say when his words had found their demise in the silence of your bedroom. Tears that had contrived in your worried eyes soon slipped down, and you had to take the wobbling of your bottom lip between your teeth. Peter noticed almost instantly, taking your hands in his and ever so gently brushing the pad of his thumb back and forth to ease their trembles.
“What are you thinking, Peter? To put yourself that head on in danger? You don’t even have a proper suit a-and you’re just going to run blindly into s-something because Mr. Stark wants you to?”
“Y/N,” he murmured, wiping your tears with his free hand. His palm cradled around the curve of your jaw, delicately placing a strand of hair behind your ear that had become captive in the stickiness of your cheeks. “Let me do this, okay? I... I have to do this. Nothing bad will happen to me. Mr. Stark won’t allow that.”
“Y-You don’t know that!” You spoke. It came as a whisper, yet frightened and laced with worry. “While you’re out there, you can’t guarantee your safety. Neither can Mr. Stark!”
His response was immediate, pulling you back down into his chest, muffling your despairs as you latched onto his torso. All you could let him do was guide his hand up the small of your back, massaging the skin in a voiceless endeavor of comforting your worries.
“You’ll come back to me in one piece, right?” Your words were whispered and innocent as your forefinger traced invisible patterns in the divot of his collarbone.
Peter was quiet for a moment, before besoothing your burdens. He reveled down at you, wrapping his arms around you so tightly that there was no room for anything else. No pain, no anguish, just love. And you marveled at the fact.
