Why is kindness such a rarity?
Who made it abnormal to treat another human as if they actually are a living, breathing being?

this has been said before but I feel like it is very important to view being kind as something you do rather than something that you are because all people have the capacity for meanness and cruelty and often use it inadvertently but the point is to change your behavior and your attitude and practice paying attention and being selfless and sincere and vulnerable and putting kindness and warmth into your actions and words instead of being like oh I value kindness and thus I am such a good person. like it’s about the attempt
Please remember that almost everyone around you is traumatized. I didn’t understand this when I was younger. I wondered why people acted so strangely and irrationally. Maybe all children wonder this. The author Robert Anton Wilson said (paraphrasing), “We have never seen a completely sane adult human.” No one makes it out of this life alive. It’s not their fault. Mercy, kindness, forgiving — these are what makes one human. They are other names for love. People break in the strangest of ways.

On this platform, there is always a lot of encouragement and reminders for readers to be kind to writers and I really like that but let's also remind writers to be kind to their readers, shall we?
I won't say names, but I had bad experiences with my favourite writers.
For example, such as when I only asked questions about their fanfic or blog. As far as I know, I always try to phrase it in a polite and kind tone that isn't harmful yet they answered with anger instead.
And even if they misunderstand or it's a misunderstanding, they lash out instead without further question or explanation...
It's kind of sad since this attitude discourages a reader from reading their fanfic or following their blog after.
Just saw the most awful post under someone asking for some help paying for her childrens school supplies and clothes because she was in a rut. She also expressed working her hardest to get out of it.
People lack so much empathy for others that it literally makes me so sad. If that was them on the other side of that post they would want the understanding. But instead they resort to posting nasty things under the post. Which posting those nasty types of comments isn’t going to make nearly as big of an impact as they think.
Instead of judging people we need to support people. It really makes me doubt humanity as a whole and who we are. Like instead of breaking each other down… could we focus on building each other up! The world would be so much better if everyone was like that. But instead we’re a society who thinks that we have the right to judge and look into everyone’s life and assume that we know every single detail that makes up there story.
But we don’t. And we don’t need to. We just need to focus on spreading love and POSITIVITY 💜

I understand that the tags author can be joking, dark humor and all that but it feels like kicking a - I don't even know, a cardbox full of wet kittens? - Vash himself when he's already beaten up and down in the dust trying to do some good and only getting violence and insults and humiliation for it.
It feels cruel and inconsiderate and even disrespectful. Stomps over the whole message of trigun and Vash.
Which is ironic, isn't it?

Sometimes we need to make a conscious effort to have faith in others. To see things from another perspective.
Please think before you comment on people's physical traits/appearance! There is NO NEED WHATSOEVER to shame, belittle or otherwise mess with someone's feelings because of something as superficial and unimportant than looks!! It's dumb, it's insensitive, it's unnecessary, uncalled for and oftentimes simply cruel.
Care for some examples?
I was walking my dogs once and stopped at a local dogpark where an elder woman started chatting to me. She was nice enough, but all of a sudden she asked why I didn't get my teeth fix. Yeah, I am 100% aware that I have crooked front teeth. I don't really care, I accept them the way they are, back then I also was not generally in a good mental state and such a comment felt downright mean and utterly out of place. Luckily, I was able to tell her as much by coolly stating that this was none of her business and that it's extremely impolite and rude to say something like that...
I've also had several occassions in my life where people told me negative things about my hair which is not only rude, but also plain racist. European, white people telling me, a PoC, that I should get another hairstyle 'cuz it would look "much better"?! I mean, do they even know what they are suggesting?! Yeah, get over it; not everybody needs to have fair, straight hair. I like my hair the way it is naturally: curly, sometimes a little messy, and whenever I dye it, I do it because I enjoy being colorful (I had it pink for quite some time), but that's my decision and no one else's business and maybe these people should take a long hard look at themselves and understand how utterly brainwashed they have been to believe that there is exactly ONE way of being beautiful/handsome/pretty.
Also, do not comment on people's weight!! Seriously?! Why is this even still a thing?! You know NOTHING about a person's history, about their eating habits, their routines, you don't know whether they are struggling with an eating disorder and you certainly don't get to decide what their body has to look like for them to like and celebrate themselves!! It's just not okay to tell someone "Oh, you used to be so thin, what happened?" or "You have lost way too much weight, it doesn't suit you at all!" or "You've grown fat since I last saw you" - CUT THAT SH*T!!
Also, you don't have to comment on other people's fashion preferences; if you don't want to wear skinny jeans or leoprints or bright neon colors or cheap shoes or wheaver, well, you are not obliged to do so, but let other people wear whatever they want and just LEAVE THEM ALONE.
Can we please normalize not asking people about their family, their origin, their ethnic background when doing small talk?! Not everybody wants to talk about their family. Not everybody with a "foreign"-sounding surname or first name cares to talk about their origin and, side note: Many people have been born in the country they live in now and do not enjoy constantly being reminded of their backstory! I am constantly being told that my German is perfect - well, guess what? It's perfect because it's my mother tongue, just because my father's from another country doesn't mean I personally grew up elsewhere!! For many people, these topics that are somehow deemed "small-talk appropriate" by others, are a constant source of stress and "othering", some might have had traumatic experiences in childhood/youth/have no contact to their biological family anymore/have been adopted ect. It's plain rude and nosy and unnecessary to ask such personal question - think before you talk for God's sake

I think something that a lot of people fail to accept is that.....people need to be treated like human beings regardless of situation. "fat people are ok....if they're healthy" "addicts are okay....if they're successfully recovering" "homeless people are okay.....if they're trying hard enough/they're not addicts/they're not gross" . like none of these conditions take away somebody's humanity. but when you add these "ifs", you do make respecting someone else as a literal fucking person conditional. empathy or just any level of understanding is seen as something that has to be Earned in these situations . and it sounds so simple, even obvious, but then you think about it and it is just a really widespread line of thinking.

I'm gonna take this as an opportunity to fully apologize for my unexpected/unannounced hiatus. it's actually been a very rough set of months, and I really am trying to get past it. in short, I've lost some family, have been trying to set up a stable (and not mentally/emotionally draining💀✋🏽) environment for me to stay in and/or find a job, and possibly aim for a chance at getting back in school or learning to hone in on some skills that could up my advantages in getting myself ... unstuck, I guess you could say?
all in all,,, it's looking grim fr ngl💀.
but, it's not in my best interest to dwell on it. I can only take/deal with so much before I realize I need an escape or a recluse, and honestly, this account allows me to do that. with or without an audience, I continue to post/write because it's something I genuinely enjoy. I love being able to focus my attention on my special interests and while a lot of the times, my mental state or my outside struggles gets in the way of that, I still persist because without this one joy, this one thing no one can take from me,,, idk I might as well not be here lmao.
I don't mean to rant/vent any further, but for those asking (ty, lovely anon, for checking in♡), I'd thought I'd shed a little light on my situation, and I truly encourage everyone who sees this to be kind when give the opportunity.
you never know what someone else is going through, what's actually going through their heads, what they're contemplating, and what they're dealing with. if you can't do it because you just want to be a decent human being and want to make someone's day, at least do it because you don't want to be the cause of something tragic that's undoable :/.
with that being said, if you feel there's no one on this earth who doesn't love you, it must mean I've died because I love you. as long as I'm here, you will always have someone you can chat/vent/rant to, make friends with, and search for whatever support you need :). I am here for you, even as just one person♡.

*ahem* anyways back to my fanfic author fangirl shifter autism adhd induced bullshit😻‼️... (which reminds me, I really am going to try to repost stuff more often and post other things than just writing, idk why I'm so bad at that💀).
I get it, we all have our preferences in the types of fiction we consume and the arcs we enjoy watching.
But the hate I'm seeing lately for characters who are genuinely kind, or characters who chose to redeem themselves is ridiculous, and people need to chill about it.
Some of us actually like seeing characters choosing good, compassion, and light. Some of us are actually comforted and reassured when we see fictional characters who had seemingly fallen too deep but still find a way out and discover true peace. Sometimes it's nice seeing characters who remain genuinely good despite going through immense pain and unfairness (they still have the right to feel things and work on their trauma of course, but when they actually manage to not become a villain because of it... I like that, I actually do like seeing that)
There's nothing wrong with stories about hope.
If you prefer to see characters become evil, destroy things, and making others suffer, good for you, and you enjoy that. But let those of us who like goodness in our stories enjoy it, and maybe diss on it a little less?
There are more than enough damnation arcs in real life and sometimes we need a break from that.
