Kenya was fresh in her new home, just an hour away from her parents when a hurricane decided to emerge and begin its path towards her city. She didn’t have a single speck of salvageable food in her house. It had barely been a full week since she moved in, she was still unpacking and the job she applied for hadn’t responded yet. The neighbors were friendly and loved her, so she had some small snacks and a cake from the little welcome party they held. She lived off of that during the small unpacking break she gave herself. For meals, she had been getting takeout for the past few days. To make matters worse, the television hadn’t arrived yet, so she never got the three day notice. If it weren’t for one of her neighbors alerting her, she would’ve been outside just as it passed by. If this hurricane was as bad as the last, she was doomed because of how underprepared she was. She would either lose her home, becoming broke and lonely or go back to where she was born. There was no way she would be going back to the controlling home she just escaped from.
Hongjoong had known the hurricane was on its way a few days before the rest of the humans did, even from his spot in the tree in front of Kenya’s new home. The problem, was that he had nowhere to go. He didn’t want to be dragged far, far away by the wind again, but he wasn’t about to try and get into a shelter far, far away from the tree. Not when he was so close to finding his parents. He usually stayed with the nice, old couple who resided in the house in front of his tree. However, the day that young adults, who he could guess were relatives, started coming over to clear out the home, he knew what would happen. They got inside a car and never returned, but not before bidding him adieu with rubs and snacks. Those were the only nice humans he met. The rest of them either stared at him unsettlingly, called him ‘sandy cheeks’, tried to catch him, or tried to chase him away. So, he didn’t like to approach humans that much.
He was going to keep his peace and avoid her as well, until one particular day. She had received a crate of strawberries from a neighbor who ‘didn’t have enough space in her fridge’, and she took them inside. That neighbor was the one who notified her about the incoming danger. The lady had offered her a safer place to stay, but the girl refused. He thought that it would be his last time seeing her from so close for the day, but she came back out with one in her hand. She had noticed the red squirrel looking from the top of the tree and wanted to try and feed him. If it was possible, maybe even bring him into her house. She didn’t want him to be swept away by the ferocious winds or struck by the flashing lightning. Even though as a child she was scolded for being friendly with animals, she wanted to at least try. She was told that sometimes, the animals could be hybrids and that those things are creeps. She didn’t believe any of their words, it only spurred her on to try and find one rather than adopting. Now, with those words, she wanted to allow him in even more in the case that he was human.
That day, she walked outside with a strawberry in her hand. She saw the squirrel about to climb up the tree, staring at her cautiously as she approached. To get it to put its guard down, she crouched down to give herself a smaller stature. She took baby steps, slow and tiny until his tail was twitching and she crouched right in front of him. Holding out the strawberry to him, murmuring, “Here,” she watched as the critter hastily took the strawberry and scurried back to the tree. That was Hongjoong’s first time having something sweet in a while. He watched as she smiled softly, ensuring that the cute squirrel ate the strawberry before heading back inside. She would use that as her tactic. She was always warned to never feed animals, or else they’ll be attached to her. However, now she wanted that outcome.
The interaction both worked in her favor, and it made him feel more comfortable with the plan he was about to attempt.
An hour after he watched her leave the house, the girl returned with her car door open, bringing in bags of groceries. He knew that she was preparing for the hurricane that would occur iim nearly six hours. She had a few cases of bottled waters left in her car, which she was struggling to carry and bring inside. Her body was already sore from all the unpacking and traveling back and forth, which made it no easier. As he saw her heaving, trudging back out to grab the second case, he emerged from behind the tree trunk and stood in front of her. She paused seeing the squirrel staring up at her, tail twitching.
After she blinked, a young man with dull, red hair and wide eyes was peering at her. He was about an inch taller than her, and she couldn’t miss the tiny ears on his head or the huge, puffy tail behind him. He opened his mouth, closed it again in hesitation, opened it again and spoke. “D-Do you n-need help?”
Seeing the way she stared at him, mumbling, “Uh..”, he was about to retrace his tracks and die of embarrassment, but she finally responded. Shaking off the shock she felt, she gave a nod and a hum. Some people owned hybrids, but she had never talked to one personally. She hadn’t really seen one, other than the police dogs that visited her school years ago. The squirrel-man instantly went to work, grabbing the case of waters and heading inside to find where she placed the other. He was internally scolding himself for doing it so awkwardly.
Once her car was empty, before he could execute his plan she did it for him. “Do you have a home? Do you need to stay with me during the hurricane..?” She decided to take the chance and ask while she could.
“Yes..” He mumbled, happy she offered first so he wouldn’t have to ask. He knew that squirrel hybrids were uncommon, so he didn’t want to seem weird. As she led him into her house, he spoke timidly. “T-Thank you for the strawberry earlier…”
She smiled, taking one out the container she was moving out of the fridge. She gave it to him. “You’re welcome. Make sure you wash it off.” He went straight to the sink to run it under the water. After a few brief seconds, he shoved the whole thing in his mouth, leaves and all. She chuckled at the sight. “You can have one any time you want.” He stood there fiddling with his fingers as she filled the fridge and cabinets with necessities. When she stood and began walking, he trailed behind her as well.
She went to the windows to close the shutters, and he spoke as he looked at the tree he spent most of his day burrowed inside of. “Thank you so much for letting me stay.. I’ll sleep out here, and I’ll be good, I swear..” He knew that some, if not, all humans doubted hybrids like him. They only trusted cats and dogs, yet barely even those species.
“Make yourself comfortable... Did I get your name?” She questioned, appreciating how he wasn’t going to try anything. She didn’t think he would be so ill-spirited even after the little snacks she gave him anyways.
“Hongjoong… Yours?” He watched as she went into a nearby bag, fishing out a laptop.
“Kenya. Is there anything you want to do..? Sorry, but I don’t have a TV yet.” She trailed off. She would’ve offered him her laptop to watch something, but she couldn’t trust a stranger with access to such sensitive information. Even if she watched it with him, she had plans on taking a shower so she really had no idea what to offer him during his stay. She was freshly an adult in her own house, so she was new to having guests over.
“Not really, I was planning on napping during the hurricane..” He said, hoping his body would go along with that plan. He could sleep for over half a day if he was tired enough, so he deliberately stayed up during the last few nights. If he went to sleep now and entered that deep sleep, it would be nearly impossible for the thunder to stir him awake. He felt rude for invading her house just to completely ignore her, but she didn’t seem to mind. They were technically neighbors, so he had many chances to speak to her anyways.
“Oh, okay. I had the same idea.” She said, continuing with, “Let me know if you need anything..” She trailed off as her feet took her towards the stairs. She took a quick trip to grab him a cover and pillow, before she notified him of the location of the bathroom and finally got comfortable in her bed. Before she fell asleep, she did hear him getting up and meddling in the kitchen. Her ears told her he was going to get strawberries, possibly to help him fall asleep.
The house finally settled down, the hurricane quietly beginning its course. During the night, she was awakened by the sound and feeling of light shuffling and quiet sniffles and hiccups. Alongside that, the fierce winds, aggressive thunder, and pattering rain of a hurricane. She felt a new body underneath her covers, trembling violently. She took a moment to recover from her sleepy state, the sound of thunder and rain about to lull her back to sleep. It was all comforting to her, but it seemed the opposite for the squirrel behind her. She turned towards him, his head lifting as he muttered small apologies. “I-I’m sorry, I’ll.. I’ll go back.. I-I just..”
She stopped him before he could leave, lightly placing a hand on his shivering shoulder. She didn’t want him to leave just yet. She knew that some people had anxiety with storms like this, and she wasn’t upset with that. He could see the worry etched in her face clearly, yet she could barely see her own hand in the darkness of the room. “Is everything okay?” Her voice came out, gentle and slightly raspy with sleep.
“Y-Yes.. I-I just.. don’t like the storm.. I don’t want to be alone..” He stuttered, his voice high with small sobs in between his words. He mumbled the last words. She cupped his cheek with one hand, wiping his tears softly. With the other, she lightly combed his hair out of his face. She hoped it was comforting him. She wasn’t used to being around hybrids.
“It’s okay.. I won’t leave you alone.. Nothing will happen..” She whispered, cradling his head in her arms. He buried his face in her chest. She had could guess what happened to make him so panicked in a situation like this, due to her observations. She was tempted to ask and confirm, but she kept her mouth shut. He would be the one to decide whether or not to tell her.
He sobbed for a bit longer, before the noises were reduced to sniffles and slow breathing. She had fallen back asleep herself, yet he didn’t even notice because he was content with just her presence. He had been alone for so long, he forgot how it felt to be cared for. The two slept in the bed peacefully until the morning, when the hurricane had passed by their area. It was still raining a bit, but it had moved into the next city.
She woke up before he did, untangling herself from his limbs and going straight to the restroom. He had started clinging to her body as he slept, instead of just a light hug. After she finished her business in the bathroom, she decided it wouldn’t harm to take a quick shower. As she grabbed her clothes, she saw that he didn’t stir after she unintentionally closed the drawers roughly. She didn’t think he would be awake for a while. She never saw him outside his tree at this hour, so she concluded that he slept for long hours of the day.
After cleaning herself, she visited the room again to find him laid on his back, eyes open. He turned when she entered, staring at her for a moment before waving.
“Morning.” She murmured in response. “I’m going to cook breakfast. Is french toast okay?”
“Mhm.” He hummed. A minute and a trip to the bathroom later, the squirrel had joined the girl in the kitchen. He watched as she cooked, flipping the bread on the pan onto the other side.
“Sorry about last night..” He started, feeling the need to apologize. Even though she was completely inviting, allowing him to stay without a problem, he still felt like he was invading her quiet life.
“Don’t worry, it’s fine. I know that animals can hate storms, and just loud noises in general.” She reassured him, placing the bread on a plate. She never had a pet herself, but she recalled friends telling her how terrified their dogs are whenever it’s a holiday that involves fireworks. She placed another slice of bread on the pan, letting it cook as she talked to him.
“Thank you.. It’s just.. I lost my family during the last hurricane a few months ago… ” He started, staring blankly at the french toast as she decorated it with whipped cream and strawberries. He was used to explaining this to other animals, hoping they’d seen them somewhere. “Our tree fell down, and the winds and flood took me..” He took a breath, “I haven’t seen them since.”
“Do you want me to help you find them..?” She asked hesitantly. She didn’t know if he would take that in the wrong way, she hoped not.
He watched as she flipped the bread around, “Would you really?” He didn’t think that a human would really have the time or patience to be searching for three little squirrels.
“Yes. I need the company, anyway. Also, you seem to know the area better so a tour guide wouldn’t be too bad.” She joked, winking as she handed him the french toast.
“Thank you, I really appreciate it. And for the food too, thank you.” He stuttered, taking the food happily. He was so excited to indulge in this plate. He never tasted whipped cream before. He could only stare at the desserts through the windows of the cafes he passed by. “I think.. I’ll go back to the tree when I finish.. Just let me know when you have time to go.”
“I will, and don’t worry. You’re free to come over anytime if you need anything.” She said while adding her own toppings onto her french toast. She smiled at first out of politeness, but it became genuine when she realized how easily she made a new friend, especially for a hybrid. It told her that she would be fine in this new neighborhood.
While eating, she learned that Hongjoong had been living, searching, and exploring in the area for about a year, so he knew the place pretty well. That meant that while searching for his family, he could also be giving her a tour of the city. With this knowledge, the two made the decision to start off sooner, the next day.

*Ring, ring, ring!*
Awakened by unfamiliar ringing and a beaming light, she groaned and covered her eyes. She was confused, she had curtains that blocked out the sun, so there’s no reason why she’s being blinded by it. Also, her alarm didn’t sound anywhere close to that and she made sure to turn it off the day before, so something like this wouldn’t happen.
As she gained her senses back and started turning towards the source of the noise, she felt an arm underneath her head instead of a pillow. She soon saw that owner was a shirtless Wooyoung, who laid right beside her. He was on his back, his other hand on his stomach. He had his eyes closed, she thought he was asleep until his arm reached out to turn off the alarm. Once he completed his task, he let out a deep sigh and turned his body to wrap completely around her.
He finally opened his eyes, sighing once they made eye contact. “Did the alarm wake you? Sorry.” His voice was soft and slightly raspy, a difference of how loud he usually spoke.
“It’s okay.” She responded, a small smile brought to her face as she remembered the events of the night. They splashed around in the pool for a while with the rest of the group, until everyone eventually went home and she fell asleep between him and San on the couch after tidying up the place. She didn’t mind how she was in Wooyoung’s bed, but what she wanted to know was who was it that changed her clothes. She only had an oversized hoodie, not even a bra, and oversized pants. She had panties with that though, luckily. The last thing she remembered wearing was her previous clothes over her damp bathing suit.
She had plans on going back home to shower properly, before succumbing to the exhaustion. Which meant, someone changed her into proper clothes. It was just a mystery of who, and whether she really minded or not.
She was closest with San, who she’d always been the most honest with. He was like family, an older brother to her. She wasn’t even as trusting of Danielle as she was with San. They’d talked about, and even did some things that best friends would not. However, it never broke their bond, only strengthened it. She met him in freshman year, where he got through to her and broke down her walls, even being popular. She’d always hated the popular kids, including the girls. Especially when they only talked to her, quiet and ‘weird’ as a joke, which was what she thought San was doing. So, she ignored him as much as possible, hoping to not make the same mistake she’d made before. She didn’t mean to let her guard down so much.
Wooyoung, she had a fat crush on him. She couldn’t escape it, no matter how desperately she tried to. No matter how much she pushed it away, he always found a way to get her flustered. Even with his non-flattering tendency to mess around with random girls. Even with the warnings from Danielle before she started liking him too. Even after she tried to stop liking him for her best friend, even though she liked him before Danielle did. Being a hopeless romantic, she couldn’t help but fall for his constant flirty antics. She couldn’t determine whether he was also doing that to her as a joke, or whether she was only flattered because of loneliness. So, she wanted to let Danielle have him so she wouldn’t become a victim of his behavior, or her own feelings. Danielle knew how to handle it.
Those two were the only ones who she trusted to change her clothes like that. They have both seen her either shirtless or with no pants, but never completely naked. They hung out at her house often. She had a bit of trust in Seonghwa even without having a strong relationship, him being the oldest, therefore the most mature. The rest, she wouldn’t feel comfortable with changing her clothes.
Almost as if he could read her mind, Wooyoung mumbled, “San changed your clothes, by the way. Didn’t want you to sleep in your bathing suit.”
She was about to respond, but a vibration on her phone distracted her. She turned to grab it. It was San, asking if he could come over in a few minutes. As she typed to give her an hour so she could shower, she received three messages from Danielle. She ignored them. It would be hard talking to her after what she did.
“So.. what are we?” Wooyoung asked, making her mind go blank. She was so worried about how her two best friends would react, she had completely forgot he was there glued to her back.
“Uh.. I.. I don’t know.. I wasn’t even supposed to be doing that..” She mumbled, thoughts of San and Danielle piling up in her mind. She could tell they were upset, rightfully so. She felt like she betrayed them. She felt horrible about it. They’d been there for her at her worst, but she did that to them. “I.. I didn’t..” She was spiraling so much, not even realizing that tears were falling until he wiped them. He swiped his thumb under her eye before tucking her head underneath his chin. He held her silently as she shook, holding back his words.
He didn’t want to tell her she was overthinking, even if she definitely was. She didn’t want to tell her that Danielle possibly didn’t truly like him, if Zuri needed to talk and do all the work for her. He just comforted her, whispering small ‘it’s okay’s and pressing small kiss to her forehead. To his surprise, she had fallen back asleep. Also to his surprise, he was actually careful with his words and actions around her. Previously, he never cared, whether it was a girl or boy, he said whatever came to mind and took it back if he really needed to. He was blunt, telling whoever it was the truth and to deal with it. With her, he wasn’t even telling her that she wasn’t fully guilty. He would’ve tried to get in her pants to ‘take her mind off of everything’ by now. Yet he was rubbing her back in circles and wiping her tears. It was all so different, so wrong when he was with her.
He watched her calm and peaceful state for a moment before he’d fallen asleep himself. Her soft breathing and warm body was enough to lull him to sleep just as his comforting touch did for her.
He woke up for the second time a few hours later, admiring her face. He liked the curves of her face, how plump her lips looked, and how long her lashes were. Even without makeup, she was so pretty. Even when she was now peering up at him, awake.
After a few minutes of comfortable silence and deep gazes, she finally sat up. “I should go..” She moved to sit on the edge of the bed, stretching before letting her feet meet the floor.
“Stay for a while, baby..” He locked his arms around her waist, tugging her back and onto his lap before she could even take two steps. His voice was whiny. It seemed that the second nap refreshed them both, especially for it being nine in the morning. The sluggishness usually never wore off until noon.
“No, I have stuff to do..” She said, her voice becoming a bit whiny herself, “I need to check on Boo, do my hair, see San and Dani..” She rambled while trying to wring herself out of his grasp. She always got so shy whenever he did these types of things, but it only encouraged him further. He held her for a bit longer, liking to feel her squirm before letting go. He didn’t fail to catch how she stayed there for a moment after.
She stood, just for the shorts to nearly fall off of her hips, making her look like she was sagging. She heard a chuckle behind her, Wooyoung trying to hold them up. “Don’t laugh at me..” He didn’t have to tell her to give up before she let them fall, stepping out of them casually. She didn’t mind only having panties on, the hoodie was big enough to cover her. He passed her the other clothes from off of the chair, folded neatly. When she took them, he pressed a sudden teasing kiss to her lips, making her flinch away. He kept pecking her lips, enjoying the squeaks she was letting out while trying to get away. He let her escape out the front door, following right behind.
She grabbed her keys, unlocking her front door as quickly as possible to avoid being seen by anyone. He stood behind her, supposedly protecting her, even though he had his whole front pressed against her backside. His hands were on her hips, apparently trying to hold the hoodie down even though she could tell what his true intentions were.
Once she finally got the door open, she quickly bent down and grabbed her black cat, Boo, and shoved her in his face. Boo naturally pawed at his face, scratching him lightly. He hissed at her playfully when she let the cat go. She always thought Wooyoung was secretly a cat, one resembling Boo, maybe even a long lost sibling. He followed her to her room, the two lounging there for a moment before she decided to take a quick shower. Knowing she had to go out, she decided her hair could wait until the next day.
She returned to her room after showering to find Wooyoung still there, petting her cat absentmindedly while scrolling through his phone. He left once she got her clothes on, meeting her outside the door with hugs and kisses. He was literally next door, but he still deemed it necessary, as if she was about to go to war. It was like a good luck with talking to the two who she felt she betrayed.
She quickly searched for the contact whose location she knew by heart, Choi San’s. She felt bad for making him wait so long, it was already 10am and she only asked him to give her until 8am. Pressing on the button to video call, she waited for him to answer. He answered by the second ring. He was lying in his bed, a white tank top covering his chest. “Hello?”
“Hi, Sannie..” She mumbled, propping up her phone so he could see her. She knew he was big on eye contact, or at least being able to see her face. “.. What’s up?” She tried not to sound awkward or nervous, knowing exactly what he was about to bring up.
“How are you? Tired?” He wanted to check up on her first, to make sure he wouldn’t bring it up while she was in a bad mood. She had a sensitive heart, something San already knew and Wooyoung witnessed himself a few hours prior.
She took a moment to answer, a spoonful of yogurt being placed in her mouth. “Not really, I slept for a little longer.. That’s why I didn’t call earlier..”
“Hm. So I’m gonna workout soon, so I’ll just talk to you now.” San paused, suddenly sounding like he was waiting to bring up the topic. “With Wooyoung last night.. what was that? You.. definitely weren’t asking about Danielle.”
“It was.. I just..” She mumbled, subconsciously removing herself from the camera. She stepped off to the side a bit, leaning over so he couldn’t see her face. She always struggled with confrontation and things like this, so he was patient with her. He knew she wasn’t the type of person to blatantly steal her friends’ crush like that, so he knew she was hiding something from him. “I-I didn’t mean it, San.. I’ve just.. liked him for so long..”
“Show yourself, Zuri.” San murmured as she paused. She complied, stepping into the camera. He could see the sad look on her face.
“A-And Wooyoung told that he likes me too, so I just let him.. I-I liked him before Dani, but I wanted her to have him, I really did, San.. I-“ She rambled, San interrupting before she could start spiraling, repeating herself more than she was now.
“I’m not mad that you like him, but why didn’t you tell us? Especially when Danielle told us that she did. You know we would’ve laughed it off, right?” He said, almost sounding hurt. She knew that he was big on loyalty, she felt like such a bad person. He was upset with their relationship, but it wasn’t her decision that pissed him off.
“I.. didn’t mean it like that.. I thought you would’ve made fun of me..”
“Why? Why would we have made fun of you? Tell me, Zuri.” He pressed, wanting to know what she would say. He knew what she was about to say, he always had to talk her out of things like this.
She bit her lip, feeling that familiar stinging feeling in her eyes and chest once again. “He’s just out of my league.. He’s so popular and talkative, and your best friend, but I just-“
He interrupted her once again, “Zuri, you do realize I’m the same as him, right? You do know that you’re my best friend? Zuri? We are your best friends?” He sounded annoyed, he was now sitting up in his bed. He hated when she acted like this, like she wasn’t worthy of talking to them. She nodded, looking down at her discarded yogurt sitting on the counter. “So what makes you think you aren’t allowed to crush on him? The only thing different from me is that I don’t go around fuc-“ He caught himself before his voice could get too loud, knowing that she was still thinking he was upset with her. He just wished she had more self-worth, and Wooyoung listened for once.
Although she did warm up to the group, he knew she still felt deep inside that they were just ‘trying out the quiet girl.’ He knew she felt like she was crossing the limits liking his best friend, but he actually found it entertaining and cute. Wooyoung had always been trying, so San liked how she was finally loosening up.
They both seemed to take a deep breath, before San broke the brief silence that built between them. “I’ll call you back later. I don’t want to say anything mean.” She hummed, nodding. “Love you?” He murmured, making sure she knew he wasn’t angry with her.
“Love you too.” She said, watching him wave at her before ending the call.
After a bit of playing with her yogurt and eating it, she grabbed a few supplies and headed to her room. She wanted to at least take her braids out before seeing Danielle.
After a long time of an annoying cat, arms and back aching, and hair in every direction she finally began to get dressed. She threw her hair in a slick-back bun, putting on a simple outfit so she could meet Danielle out at the mall. They always met up there to walk around, eat, and pick up random things they would not actually buy. It was something they always did, whether if it was a while after seeing each other or on a random day.
Just as she put her shoes on and grabbed her keys, she got a text from Wooyoung.
woo(do not respond) ; did yu talk to san?
zurii💕 ; yup
zurii💕 ; he’s kinda mad tho
woo(do not respond) ; dw i’m sure he’ll b fine later
woo(do not respond) ; if not i’ll talk to him
zurii💕 ; thank u
woo(do not respond) ; anything for u ml
She left the house, leaving and walking to the mall. It wasn’t far from her house, so she was fine with the transportation type.
Once she made it there, she saw Danielle standing at the entrance. She was staring down at her phone. unaware of her presence yet. She didn’t look up until Zuri stood in front of her. “Zuri!” Danielle dragged the yell out, hugging her tightly, rocking back and forth and all. Even though she felt incredibly guilty and nervous, she was still able to return the greeting.
“How was it?” Danielle had left for a week, over the whole break. There was now just a day before they had to go back to school. Walking into the mall, the duo got lost in conversation about Dani’s trip. Zuri didn’t feel tense at all, until she mentioned the incident that occurred the night before once they sat with their food.
“So, at the party, I heard you kissed Wooyoung?” She said suddenly, taking a sip from her drink.
“Oh-“ Zuri nearly choked on her food.
“What was that about?”
Zuri took a deep breath before answering, staring down at the table they sat at. “I’m sorry.. I.. I didn’t mean it like that, I just-“ She thought it would’ve been easier to get it out, as she did it with San when the sun was still up. However, Danielle kept interrupting, sounding infuriated.
“How the hell did you mean it, then?”
“I’ve liked him since we were freshman, Dani. And he-“
“But I like him too, I told you that.” Danielle wasn’t giving her a chance to speak. It was something Zuri had always hated. She hated it before meeting her, and she hated it even more now that it was Danielle doing it. Danielle was too sensitive, she got angry with the smallest things, and her anger escalated way too quickly.
“I know. I wanted to let you have him, but-“
“So why the fuck?-“
“Danielle, please. Let me speak.” She stopped her, irritated with the interruptions. Her voice was shaky as she continued. “He was the one who kissed me, Dani. He wants me too, so I can’t just.. You know how hard it is for me to find someone…” She trailed off, a habit she had. Her voice and stature got smaller, until she was speaking like a mouse and hunched over the table.
Danielle went silent for a moment, her expression softening just for a minute. “Well, why didn’t you tell me when you first started liking him? Aren’t we best friends?”
“I didn’t think he would go good with me.. And he’s San’s best friend..”
“Did you really hurt San too?” Danielle said, sounding distraught.
“N-No, he’s fine..” She mumbled, feeling like a villain. Danielle saw it as if Zuri’s whole plan was to hurt the two, her best friends who she wouldn’t trade for anything.
A long silence enveloped the table.
“Is he at least treating you well? I couldn’t believe if you hurt us just for a bad boyfriend. I told you about him, didn’t I? Didn’t we walk in on him with some random girl? You want to be some side bitch?” Danielle rambled on, her voice going from hurt to angry again. She took small pauses, yet Zuri stayed silent.
“No.. He’s not even like that..” Danielle was barely able to hear the last words she said with how quietly she mumbled it. Zuri knew her own words were wrong.
“Fine. Damn.” Danielle huffed, going back to eating her food. Zuri barely touched hers, taking small, occasional bites while staring out into the abyss.
“Let’s go.” Danielle said sternly after she finished, not even waiting for Zuri. She simply grabbed both plates and drinks, even with Zuri’s food tray and milkshake cup still almost full. Zuri had no choice but to follow. They split up at the exit, not even bidding each other goodbye.
As she walked, she was so caught up in her guilt that she didn’t even hear the footsteps behind her. The sun was no longer giving her safety, the only available light coming from the weak streetlights and few bright rooms in the tall apartment buildings she walked by. It was pitch black, she could hardly see ahead of her at the corners in which the lights struggled to reach. She was zoned out, everything tuned out until she nearly bumped into a hard surface. “Excuse me, pretty girl, are you taken?”
“Um.. yea, I..” She trailed off, still in the battle of her emotions. Her mind was brought back to the present moment, noting the alleyway next to her and the other man coming to her side, running his hands through her bun, as if he were fluffing it out. She took a step back with his words.
“You’re beautiful, you have a lot of hair.” The second guy said, but before she could even react there was another pair of hands massaging her shoulders and a new voice.
“Let me take you to a restaurant, baby. Why you look sad?” He said, she could hear the smirk in his voice. She realized the situation she was in— she was surrounded by three men, in the dark, next to an alleyway.
“N-No, I’m okay.. I don’t want to..” She mumbled, squeezing her way through two of them. They only followed, their voices getting more insistent.
“Give me your purse, bitch-“ One of them tried snatching her bag, but she began to flail and yell, feeling overwhelmed and crowded. She had too many hands belonging to unknown men on her at once.
A new, thankfully familiar voice was heard behind her, making the four look towards him. She saw Yunho, who said a name which she assumed belonged to one of the guys harassing her. After a brief stare down and a drifting hand towards Yunho’s belt, she was released.
The men shoved her towards him, making her crash into his chest. He put a hand on the nape of her neck, running his hand down to her back and then back up as he waited for them to leave. Once he was sure, he took a step back and she looked up at him. She had to crane her neck, only as tall as his chest. “You alright?” He asked, his hand finding her chin to inspect her face for any bruises.
During his small inspection, she murmured, “No.. thank you for saving me.” She spoke quietly, the tightness in her heart still present from the day’s events.
“Let’s go.” He put a hand on her back, leading her away the alleyway and towards a motorcycle. He didn’t waste any time helping her on and revving it up. He didn’t want to stick around in that area for too long. She had questions running through her mind. She didn’t remember him ever mentioning a motorcycle. “Take this, you’ll get cold while we’re riding.” He said, giving her his hoodie before starting to drive. She noticed that he took some small packets from his pocket and transferred them to his cargo pants, but she didn’t question it.
“Yunho..?” She whispered, wrapping her arms around his waist. He hummed, prompting her to continue. “Since when did you have a motorcycle?”
“I got it.. maybe last year?” He said, his voice soft as the wind blew against them. She was happy she had the hoodie, she could feel the breeze against her legs and face. Zuri had tried conversing to get her mind off of everything, but to no avail as she felt tears stinging her eyes. She buried her face in his back, controlling her breathing the best she could.
He could feel the tears dampening small patches on his shirt, but he kept his mouth shut. He already knew the reason why she was crying, but he wasn’t directly involved in the matter so he didn’t say anything to her. He did know she needed comfort, though. Once they reached a red light, he asked in a quiet, soft voice, “Want to go to San’s?” Feeling the girl shake her head and hearing her struggle to get her words out, he already knew which turn to make.
“N-No..” She said in a feeble, hoarse voice. She didn’t want to disturb him after what she did. She usually did show up on random nights, as he did to her, but she felt too full of guilt and pain.
Once they made it to her apartment building, he took a moment before stepping off to make sure she could compose herself. He knew that she wouldn’t want him to see her crying in the way she was. He held his hand for her, helping her step off of the bike. He walked her all the way to her door, staying next to her like a bodyguard. He didn’t miss her small glances at Wooyoung’s door as she played with her keys. He didn’t say a word to her until she unlocked her door. He pulled her head into his chest, hugging her gently. “Don’t be outside at night, you need to stay safe.” His voice wasn’t scolding, but firm. She nodded, holding the very needed embrace for a while. Yunho stayed until she pulled away, staying outside of her door for a moment before knocking on Wooyoung’s door. Zuri was tempted to talk to Wooyoung herself, but she decided to wait until morning.

“We’re late for the party, come on..”
San grumbled, his wide shoulders barely fitting through Zuri’s front door. He followed behind her, clad in his varsity jacket. She had one of her own, sitting on the chair and being picked up by San. She was one of the seniors in the sports medicine team, so she was given one as well. That was the reason for this party, but she didn’t seem to be rushing. Not only was it Wooyoung’s birthday, but also the end of the football season, and the seniors wanted to celebrate all of their wins. Both events were being combined to the same day. Why wasn’t she late too? That was because this party was for the football players. Although sports medicine did play an important role in the player’s wellbeing, they were often overlooked. Also, it was at Wooyoung’s house. She was friends with him and San, but not exactly in their friend group. She had her own little circle.
“Shut up, it’s literally next door.” She retorted, rolling her eyes. “And it’s just you who’s late.” She added, making her way back into the bathroom. She wasn’t the one late to this party, she wasn’t even meant to be going. He just forced brought her along, thinking she needed some fun in her quiet life.
“I know, but-“ San tried to say, but she interrupted him. He wasn’t hurt by her sharp tone. He knew that she was just focused on her complicated makeup. He also wasn’t sensitive. He could handle a lot, rarely showing any vulnerability. They were all like that. She was happy she could say and do anything and he wouldn’t be butthurt.
“Just go, I don’t need you to walk in with me.” She was getting so frustrated with her makeup, she was spouting things she would regret. Her nerves were wrecked when it had anything to do with socializing and attention being on her. Even if it were just for a few seconds of people wondering who the newcomer was.
He snickered, knowing she didn’t mean that. She rarely went to any parties, and she struggled in crowds sometimes. Even as a senior who was dragged attended parties with San and her other best friend, Danielle, since her freshman year, she could never get used to it. Her two best friends were always there for her, even though she always had to be the one dragging them off of some random hookup they found in the vast selection of high school party people.
The minute she finally got her eyeliner right, she dipped her thumb in her face paint palette she owned, tracing an orange and black streak on each of her cheeks, her forehead, and her nose. She did the same for San. She rinsed off her hands, looking to grab her her sweater so they could go. She saw it held out in San’s grip, who was trying to help her put it on. It fit snug on her body, matching with the tiny black shorts she wore over her bikini. “What a gentleman.” She said sarcastically in response to the kind gesture. She grabbed her purse, finally heading to the front door, where she could hear the music booming through the walls. However, before she went all the way she needed to snap a few pictures of her outfit for Danielle. She had a body mirror near the door.
He slid past her, opening the door for her. She rolled her eyes again, biting her lip as the corner of her mouth twitched. He knocked on the door right next to hers, only needing to take a few steps before reaching it. Just as he knocked, her phone pinged with a few new messages. She looked down at it, seeing that Danielle responded.
danii ‼️ ; damn cutieee 😻😻
danii ‼️ ; don’t steal my man neoww
z ; girl he was never yo
She stopped typing and deleted it, realizing what she was about to say. She needed to control herself. Just because they both liked the same person and Dani didn’t even know, didn’t mean she could say that. She would never let a boy, especially not like him ruin such a good friendship.
z ; lmfao thank youu 💕
z ; i wont girll ill just talk to him like u asked
Her phone was suddenly snatched from her hands, making her look up. She gave a stank face, fully expecting to see San but she was met with Wooyoung. Her expression changed into surprise, and then back to a stank face as she looked at the hand holding her phone up high out of reach. “Bro,” She muttered, seeing that dumb smirk he always had as she reached up to grab it. Unsurprisingly, she failed, her tippy toes not helping at all.
He finally spoke after a few weak shoves and calls of his name. “Come on shorty, not even gonna say hi?”
“Hi, Wooyoung. Can I get my phone now?” She grumbled, trying her best not to seem too secretive about what she had on there. He would become curious and nosy. He didn’t need to see the texts about him between her and Danielle.
When she tried reaching again, she was pulled into a hug, her arm around his neck so she could keep her balance. During this short, but tight hug Wooyoung finally gave her the phone. He also said in her ear, “Thanks for coming, pretty girl.” She pulled away right after, trying her best to hide her flushed face. She masked it with annoyance, walking to San who watched with an amused look. He could see right through her.
“Yeah, happy birthday.” She grumbled, careful not to make eye contact. Acting annoyed was one thing she did to escape situations like this. She walked right into the house, San following behind her and lightly guiding her by the waist. As the door closed, Wooyoung yelled out which instantly brought more life to the party. The noise and dancing increased, San careful to keep her grounded and focused on getting through the crowd. He led her to the kitchen, where the drinks and snacks resided. He greeted many people, but made sure to keep moving so she could find her little secure spot in the house before she got overwhelmed.
In the kitchen, they found Hongjoong, who was tending to the drinks and snacks and basically acting as security with Seonghwa. They were starting to tidy up, wanting to keep it as clean as possible before they left to the pool. The two resolved any fights, and investigated any suspicious activities. You would think that no drugs would be found in a high school full of teenagers, but KQ was a small public school which meant that nearly anyone could get in, and punishments were small. It was too often that someone from another bigger school infiltrated and caused unnecessary trouble. Sometimes, that trouble would be an innocent girl taken advantage of or sudden fights outside of school. They could only afford to manage one sport, football. KQ was so small that they were often targeted by private schools, such as JYP and HYBE. Whether it was small beef such as competition in sports, or that turned into one-sided personal beef, they were preyed on. Although it was usually just students, sometimes it went to the lengths of attempted sabotaging between staff.
While Zuri was gazing out the window, watching most the party transfer into the backyard, she suddenly felt something cold and wet on her face. She flinched, dragged out of her daze. San was pressing a cup of fruit punch poured by Hongjoong to her cheek. She glared at him, grabbing it and taking a sip.
“Wanna go outside now?” San asked, getting a nod in return. “Mhm, lemme go say hi..” He murmured, dragging her over to another one of his friends. His friend, Mingi, was surrounded by a group of girls. Zuri wasn’t looking directly at him, finding it extremely awkward. She wasn’t the type to swaddle around one guy at a party, not in the way these girls were at least. Not only that, but they were somehow glaring at her and giving San heart eyes at the same time.
Mingi was thinking that Zuri was one of the girls at first, but when he finally recognized the braids, he was surprised. “San, is that Zuri?” He questioned, confirming that the introvert was there without her bestest friend, Danielle. She was fine with San, but she felt the best with Dani, only because San often went off to hang out with his friends.
“Yup, say hi, Zuri!” San teased her, grabbing her by her shoulders. He turned her to face Mingi, grabbing her arm and waving it like she was a baby incapable of making a simple gesture. She just stared at Mingi blankly, something he was used to, before she escaped San’s grasp. She turned her back to him, starting to walk away. San didn’t miss how she didn’t actually go until she felt his presence behind her.
After taking a quick trip into Wooyoung’s locked room to drop off their belongings, they headed straight for the pool. While San jumped in, she sat on the concrete with just her legs inside. It was too cold for her to get in so quickly. Her eyes immediately found Wooyoung’s, who smirked and looked away to continue his conversation with a random girl. He was fully in the pool, with just his arms on the concrete so he could speak. She noticed a tattoo on the nape of his neck. She only saw glimpses of it when helping him during games, but now she could see it clearly before he started turning towards her again, starting to head towards them. She quickly glanced away, acting like she was listening to San’s words. San knew she wasn’t.
When he made it over, he did that same pose, propped up next to her. She could feel his eyes burning into her, but she didn’t look until San noticed him. She acted like she had no idea he was there. They talked for a few minutes, including her in the conversation occasionally. San eventually left. both because he didn’t want her to feel like she’s being babysat and so she could ask about Danielle.
Wooyoung held eye contact with her quietly, that stupid smirk on his face. There was so much romantic tension between the two, everyone could feel it. “You’re so shy.” He finally commented, snickering. Those were words she heard often, but she knew it was true.
“I know. Everyone says that..” She mumbled, looking away. She fidgeted with the strings on the side of her bikini bottoms, suddenly feeling nervous. He mimicked her actions, playing with the one on the other side.
“What made you want to come? Your other friend isn’t here.” He asked, wondering if he would be corrected that she is here. He hoped not. She noticed that he seemed to not even know Danielle’s name, not a good sign.
She internally panicked, the words ‘So I can talk to you.’ nearly escaping her mouth. She couldn’t say that, even if she didn’t necessarily want to talk to him only because of Danielle. “San made me.” She settled with, earning a satisfied hum.
She struggled to find the words to focus on Danielle, carefully fidgeting with the strings. He wasn’t as cautious, tugging on it a bit too much. As she felt it loosening, she quickly grabbed it in a shock, getting a loud chuckle from Wooyoung. It didn’t attract any attention, drowned out by the noise of the party. He was tempted to keep pulling it, but he didn’t want to embarrass her like that and let her fix it. However, she still wasn’t safe from his teasing.
“Why won’t you get in?” Wooyoung asked, in that whiny voice he used when he was trying to annoy someone.
“Because, it’s too cold.” She said, her breath hitching as he suddenly crossed his arms, resting them on her knees.
“Come on, no it’s not..” He responded, suddenly wrapping his arms around her legs. He tugged her inside the pool, ignoring her yells. He pulled her completely in, even pulling her underneath and dumping their heads inside for a few seconds. San noticed the commotion and glanced at them with a smirk, knowing it was Wooyoung’s usual antics.
“You..” She breathed once above the water, his hands tucking her now messy and soaked braids behind her ears. She didn’t mind it being wet, she had plans on doing it the day after anyways.
Wooyoung was nearly laughing his ass off, melting away the attitude she tried to give. She couldn’t help but laugh with him as well. She cussed at him playfully, pushing him away. He kept his balance using her waist. “You’re so pretty..” He mumbled softly like it was nothing. She couldn’t hide her flushed face this time, his hands stopping hers from hiding her face.
He watched her laugh for a moment, before leaning in and placing a sudden kiss on her lips. Both of them went silent, her in shock, and him studying her reaction. He found no visible regret or disappointment, her face gaining a barely detectable tint of red.
He was nervous too, he didn’t know what got into him but he found himself hesitant leaning in again. He never felt that way when kissing a girl at a party.
He caught her lips with his, not moving until he felt her. No one knew other than Dani, but this was her first kiss. She had no idea what to do, and how to do it. However, referencing the few couples she walked in on at this party, she cupped his cheeks and lightly pressed her lips against his.
He took it slowly, noticing that she seemed new to this. He pulled her closer, tilting his head. It took him a lot of restraint not to get carried away. It usually took him a few seconds of talking to a girl before her back was on his bed, with him above her. He usually would have gotten to one by now, but he was here stealing the girl he swore to himself not to mess with’s first kiss.
Just as she got used to it, she thought about how excited she was to Danielle that she kissed Wooyoung. She kissed Wooyoung, Danielle’s crush.
She put her hands on his bare chest, lightly pushing him away. He noticed this and actually listened to it, pulling away. Not that he was didn’t like pulling away, but he was used to girls just feeling him up. He was more attentive to her, knowing what her intention was.
“What’s wrong?” He asked breathlessly. He saw how she rested her forehead on his chest, letting out a deep sigh. He cupped her head, knowing something was wrong.
“I.. I shouldn’t..” She mumbled, barely above a whisper.
“Why?” He questioned, expecting it to be something about distractions during sports medicine. He usually wouldn’t pry if it was something more personal.
“Da-.. Someone else likes you.”
“Zuri, you do realize that-“ He started, finding that stupid. He could understand she hated being selfish, but too many people want him for her to care about that.
“No, it’s.. my friend..” She interrupted, correcting herself. He could finally understand where she was coming from.
“Oh. Well.. Do you like me though?” He asked, trying to find the words to say. He never experienced a situation where someone didn’t want him, but it felt necessary to make her want him for some reason. It was all so different, and wrong when it came to Zuri.
“Yes, obviously..” She mumbled, biting her lip. She could already guess what he was about to say.
“Just kiss me then. I’m only interested in you now, so even if you don’t want to it’s not like I’ll want to be with her.” He explained, his hands going back to their previous place on her waist.
“But.. I can’t do that to Danielle, she’s my best friend..” She mumbled mostly to herself, but he heard it. She didn’t even realize she said her name, which was what she wanted to avoid.
“Hey, you shouldn’t have to give up anything for her. She would be the dumb one if she let a guy like me ruin your friendship.” He said, grabbing her chin and tilting her head up so she would meet his eyes. He continued when she only stared at him, processing his words. “She’s dated tons of people, hasn’t she? She’ll be fine.”
He smiled seeing her face softening, the creases in her eyebrows and her frown fading away. She couldn’t help but give in, seeing how sincere he was about this. He looked serious for once, and he actually had a point. Danielle was always telling her that she would help her find a boyfriend, so she shouldn’t give it up the chance she did have for one. After years of yearning and feeling hurt and unloveable, she finally had the chance to feel loved.
She suddenly got a burst of confidence, connecting her lips back to his with a small kiss. He happily returned it, hugging her to his chest afterwards. “Thank you.” She mumbled.

“Trust me Hongjoong. Go to Bukhansan. You’ll find her there.”
Hongjoong sat in the corner of a restaurant with his fellow idol friend, clad with hoodies and hats to avoid being seen.
He was having a dilemma about producing music for his group, ATEEZ. He usually had ideas trickling out of his brain in the dead of night, but for the past month the cogs haven't been moving as they should. His group had just gained traction after performing at one of the most successful music festivals, Coachella. He needed to release new music to keep the popularity, but he just couldn’t think of anything. Even after all the advice given by the one sitting in front of him, shoving fries in his mouth, nothing would work. He tried changing his environment, finding a new reward and motivation, but it was like his creativity was locked.
So, instead of letting him lose hope, Bangchan put the french fries down and decided to let him in on a secret. He had a trick, it was something that could never fail. It would help out a child prodigy, an elder who lost their spark, literally anyone. He would have to do a lot of work, but it was worth it.
One day, Bangchan took a trip to a national park, trying to catch a break from the exhausting life of an idol. He was trying out his own advice, a change of environment.
He passed by a gorgeous figure with angelic black wings on her back, who held an electric guitar. She seemed to be tuning the instrument, which had an intricate design of angel wings. He could infer this was an angel, and he decided to approach her as softly as possible. He had overheard a myth that some angels are nice, and one is even like a genie. He didn’t think anything of it, refusing to believe that an angel with black wings would be dumb enough to travel to Earth, where she’ll certainly be taken to a museum.
However, now that he had his own proof, it seemed that this myth was true. The angel sensed him approaching, she didn’t seem surprised at all, like humans near her was a normal thing. She figured he came for the same reason as the rest, and asked about what he wanted for his wish. She weighed his quest for how many chords she would need to play in order to call his wish to emerge from the depths of the earth.
Bangchan figured there would be no harm in it and did his quest, which wasn’t a lot — he just needed to help out a forest of fairies who’s home was being conquered by his own kind, humans.
After he helped them out and made some new friends, she took him to an apple tree. After eating a golden apple and listening to her enchanted guitar, he woke up in his studio with the next months’ schedule full of photo shoots for the concept of the comeback. He didn’t remember finalizing the songs he tried to produce, as he wasn’t finished, but he wasn’t upset with the result.
“Hm.. really?” Hongjoong asked, mouth full of the burger he was eating.
“Yeah, man. Just try it out, trust me.” Chan nodded, picking up his burger. It was almost cold because of how much he was speaking.
“Well.. I guess I could try. Even if I don’t find her, it’ll be that change of environment you’ve been telling me to find.” He murmured, taking sip from his drink. He watched Chan’s jaw pause its’ chewing, a puzzled expression on his face.
“There’s.. a pineapple.. in my burger.” Chan said dramatically, his Australian accent showing. Hongjoong laughed, watching his small breakdown while he took the buns off to remove the imposters.
“I didn’t even know they sold those here.”
On the way back to his dorm, Hongjoong passed by a few stores to buy some necessities he would need to go hiking. He let his members and his CEO know he would be out for a while, so that his schedule for the day could be cleared.
He walked along the trail of the mountain, looking down below at Seoul. He could see his company building if he looked hard enough. He felt the desire to go back, he had been hiking and searching for three hours already. He pondered, looking around at the view. As his head turned, he noticed a small structure in the distance.
He saw a small cave with a hole at the top, letting all the sun in and onto this small structure. It gave him a view what was inside, which looked like a girl with large, black wings on her back sitting under something white. Hongjoong knew who that was, and he immediately went over closer.
As he got closer, he saw that it was a white, circular gazebo, and she was sitting on the foundation under it, leaning against one of the poles. He couldn’t see her face, but he could see what looked like an electric guitar in her lap. Despite everything being white in the middle of a national park, everything was nice and clean. Vines resided on some parts of the gazebo, but it was all relatively clean with no dirt smudges or anything. He was amazed by that. Hongjoong had a member who felt the importance of cleanliness, he would be impressed too.
He finally made it on the ground and he stood, afraid to go closer. He didn’t want to startle the angel. He would prefer if she sensed him, and turned to him herself. The structure she sat on was surrounded by shallow water, with small black stones which led to it. He took two steps forward, stepping on those stones hesitantly.
As he got closer, he could see how pretty she really was. Chan wasn’t lying. Her soft, black curly hair which rested on her shoulders and back reminded him of the waves of the ocean. Her skin looked smooth and looked like caramel. The wings rooting from her back, going through her backless, long-sleeved, white top, were a beautiful raven black. He couldn’t see her front, but he could see the white ribbons wrapped around her legs and the short skirt she wore.
Her essence was pure and alluring, he felt himself being drawn towards her. He had never met a mystical creature like her, so it was a life-changing experience seeing her for the first time.
He cautiously made his way closer, as soon as his foot pressed down on the foundation of the gazebo, he heard her soft breathing hitch and he saw her lashes fluttering. He paused, not wanting to scare her too badly. She let out a deep breath, turning to face him and see who it was in her home.
She saw him, a young man, looking almost lovestruck with his lips parted and eyes wide and sparkling. She knew that look.
“What is it..?” She asked quietly, her voice soft and a bit raspy from her slumber. She knew he was here for a wish. That was the only reason she was ever visited.
He seemed to be struggling to breathe before he finally spoke. “U-Uhm.. I-I.. I’m Kim Hongjoong, I was wondering if.. um..”
“You want a wish. What is your desire? I’ll decide your quest based off of it.” She answered for him, standing. She had already had a plan in mind, regardless of what his request was. She finally turned to face him, crossing her arms. He started to kneel on one knee, feeling like he was talking to some divine goddess— but she stopped him with a simple word. She did require all the respect from him, but she wasn’t that type of divine being. She didn’t need anyone to kneel before her.
“I.. Uhm.. My group.. I need..” He stuttered, a feeling in his chest telling him he was embarrassing himself. But he wasn’t, it was the average reaction from a human. Actually, it was weird if they didn’t become a stuttering mess or have a breakdown seeing her. It was so common that she even constructed her own spell to calm the anxious nerves.
“Breathe.” She stopped him, playing a chord on her guitar. She tapped his chest, a small poke. He suddenly felt relieved, like all the weight on his shoulders had momentarily dissipated. He let out a deep breath and finally spoke, calmly.
“I.. I’m struggling with producing for my group. I have the basis for the songs, but I just can’t find a way to put it all together..” He grimaced at the thought of his dilemma.
“I see. So you’re another one of them, then.” She said, mostly to herself. She had all types of people coming to her about music, whether it was soloists, small artists, group members, or even western artists.
“So.. That means Chan really did come to you?” Hongjoong asked himself, curious if the angel would remember all of her companions who assisted her in numerous things in return of a wish.
“Who, the Australian with a larger nose?” She asked, receiving a nod from Hongjoong. “You know him? How did the album go?”
“It went great actually..” Hongjoong smiled, trailing off. “So what is it that you need me to do? I would like for my newest to be successful too.”
“Hmm.. It’s a surprise. But we will be traveling very far, out of the country.” She said, to his surprise. He knew he would have to do a lot to get that wish, but he was expecting it to be more local.
“How far, exactly?” He questioned, needed to know how much to bring.
“The-.. Actually, you humans call it Niagara Falls.” She hesitated, about to say what her and the other angels call it, but she realized he would be confused. He bit his lip. He knew how far that was, and he had always wanted to go there. Even so, he still had schedules that he couldn’t miss, and he would miss all of his group members for that short time he would leave.
“What exactly will I be doing..?” He asked, trying to negotiate with himself and decide on what he would do.
“Can’t tell you, until you agree. But once you do, you can’t escape.” She said, her voice sounding almost menacing at the end of her sentence. She held her hand out for him to grab, giving him a choice to make. Once he shook her hand, he was chained to her until she was satisfied with his work.
“I think..” He started, taking a deep breath and putting his hand out towards hers. He hesitated, thinking about it.

He looking so precious for what?
Usually I post on Sundays but the couple AUs I’ve been working on aren’t ready yet. In the meantime, you can read this one if you haven’t! Also I’ll post sometime early this week to make up for it! :))
ꕥGenre: CoffeeShop!au, Fluff
ꕥPairing: FemReader! x San
ꕥWord Count: 1.3k

ꕥA/N: For those that don’t know, San has said before that if he wasn’t an idol he would be a barista, so that was my inspo. I wrote this while listening to Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop by Landon Pigg and I highly recommend listening to it while you read this, if you so desire :))
There was always something about that coffee shop that kept me coming back.
Maybe it was the homey, rustic look of the store or their creamy, rich coffee. Perhaps it was the gentle jazz music in the background or the adorable little plants they had displayed in their windows. Or maybe, just maybe, it was the cute barista that led me to return.
How Have You Bean was not only the cutest name for a coffee shop ever, but the name of this particular coffee shop. The one I happened to stumble upon when I first moved to town two months ago.
It was horribly cold that day. Due to the bitter cold and snow, I ran inside the nearest open building in search of warmth. There were only a few people there, mostly college students quietly discussing their upcoming assignments. I debated on whether or not I should order something. I’d be rude if I simply stayed and didn’t order anything, right? I walked to the counter and saw a male employee with his back facing me.
“Sir? I’d like to order if you don’t mind?”

I’d be rude if I simply stayed and didn’t order anything, right? I walked to the counter and saw a male employee with his back facing me.
“Sir? I’d like to order if you don’t mind?”
The man turned around I couldn’t help but stare. I had never seen a man with such gentle yet stunning features. His eyes formed crescents as dimples on his face appeared.
Damn. Who is he?
“I don’t mind at all. How may I help you miss?”
Of course his voice would sound like honey.
I placed my order and he smiled. “You’re new around here, aren’t you?”
My brows furrowed. “What makes you so sure?”
“I’ve worked here for quite a long time. I know every customer, but I’ve never seen you here.”
“Would you believe me if I said I’ve been here before? Just not when you’re here?”
“Nope.” His answer was immediate, “If you did, I would know.”
I smiled, “Alright, you omniscient being. How much do I owe you?”
I paid and he asked for my name. I gave him a quizzical look and he explained that he needed my name so he could write it down on my cup. I blushed slightly and told him.
“It’ll be ready in no time, miss.”
“Thank you,” I looked down at his name tag, “San.”
His beautiful smile returned as I called him by name. My heart fluttered and I sat down at a nearby table. I began to twiddle my thumbs as my head wandered to him. It was a habit that I’d never been able to rid myself of.
Is he single? Should I ask him? What if he says no? Maybe I should just approach him as a friend?
I tried my best to stay level headed and not completely fawn over him.
There’s absolutely no way that he’s single. With his looks and kindness, I’m sure someone is already hopelessly in love with him and I’m sure he feels the same.
I didn’t realize I was frowning until San was standing in front of me with my coffee in his hands, asking if I was feeling alright.
“Oh! Of course!” I said, unconvinced by my own feigned happiness.
San gave me a look I couldn’t quite place. He glanced back at the empty counter and sat down on the chair across from me.
“If you don’t want to talk I understand, but I don’t like seeing people sad. Is there anything I can do to help?”
The genuine look in his eyes made my heart swell. I never believed in love at first sight before, but I had no doubt that’s what this was.
“Ah. Well...”
The man waited patiently, not pushing me to say anything.
“I just moved here and I’m a little nervous. I don’t really know anyone. And you’re kinda cute and you’re making my heart beat really fast.” I whispered the last sentence, not wanting him to hear me, but he did. A playful gleam lit up his eyes and his mouth formed into a crooked smile.
“Cute, huh?”
My eyes widened and I buried my face in my hands. “Oh god I didn’t mean for you to hear that.”
A moment of silence followed my confession, each passing second building my regret of saying it in the first place.
“I think you’re beautiful. Especially with the blush that I can tell is lighting up your face right now.”
“Nooo now I’m going to blush even more.” I giggled out of nerves.
San gently removed my hands from my face. His playful smile was still there, but his eyes had softened.
“I need to get back to work, but I’d like to see you again. I’m here most days so...yeah. Come and visit anytime. It was wonderful to meet you, miss.”
I gave a shy smile and responded, “You too.”
And so a day later, I returned. It became a habit of mine to visit San at the coffee shop at least twice a week. Seeing his bright smiles and deep dimples always seemed to remove my worries and stresses without fail.
Sometimes we would sit down and talk, other times we wouldn’t get the chance because of the exorbitant amount of people ordering coffee, keeping him busy. But the occasional glances and smiles in my direction made it all worth it.
One day, when the coffee shop was empty aside from him and I, I found myself sitting on the counter and tasting new coffee mixes that he was concocting.
“Mmm! This one is amazing!” I pointed at the small cup in my hand.
He gleamed, eyes widening, “Really?”
“Oh my god yeah! I think this is my favorite.”
San leaned down on the counter next to my legs, propping his head on his hands and looking at me with starry eyes, “What is it you like about it?”
“Well, it’s not too strong, to start with. I hate black coffee so automatically any coffee that isn’t black gets points in my book.”
He smiled, “What else?”
“I like the slight hazelnut taste. Hazelnut coffee is one of my favorites.”
He nodded, appearing deep in thought, “It’s one of mine, too.”
“You have good taste, sir.”
His handsome laugh rang out through the shop and I couldn’t help but laugh as well.
“I’d love to teach you how to make it but my boss would probably kill me if I let you touch anything without you working here.”
“I mean...you could still show me. I’ll just watch.”
“You’re a clever girl, aren’t you?”
I felt my cheeks flush and I giggled, “Oh shush.”
“Watch what I’m doing very carefully okay?”
“Okay.”
San went about making a cup of coffee, instructing me on all the steps that he followed previously. When he was done he placed a lid on the cup, handing it to me.
“Oh I can’t accept this. This is too big of a big cup to take for free. Here, I’ll pay you for it.” I reached for my purse.
“Nope. On the house.”
Smiling at him I tilted my head, “Are you sure?”
“Absolutely. Although, I’m not quite done. There’s still one last step.”
“What’s that?”
He leaned towards me, “The last step is to ask the pretty girl in front of me if I can kiss her.”
Flustered, it took me a minute to process his words, “She says yes.”
I set my coffee down and placed my hands on his face, moving him closer to me as his lips touched mine.
His lips were as soft as I had imagined countless times, the taste of coffee lingering on his lips.
San pulled back, much to my dismay, and I noticed the slight blush dusting his ears.
“I’ve never seen you flustered before, San.”
“What? I’m not flustered.”
“Your pink ears say differently.”
He covered his ears with his hands and giggled, “You’re gorgeous, how else would I react?”
I shyly tucked my head in my hands, letting out an excited squeal.
Anyone from the outside would’ve probably thought we were still young teens who’d never felt butterflies before, judging by our pink faces and shy laughs, our lingering touches.
Confidence growing, I pushed myself to ask, “Can...can you kiss me again?”
“I would love to.”

“It’s fucking cold.” I took a sip of my hot cocoa, burying myself deeper in the mountain of blankets on my lap, glancing at the snow falling outside.
Wooyoung scoffed and spread his arms along the back of his couch, “It’s December, of course it’s gonna be cold.”
I turned back to him, “Okay, yeah, but I’m still gonna complain about it.”
“You complain about everything.”
“That is a gross over-exaggeration that portrays me in an unfair light and, frankly, you should be ashamed.”
My closest friend smiled, showing his slight dimples. His eyes drifted to my own, smile fading slightly. “What do I have to do for you to join us? Even for an hour or so?”
I sighed. Wooyoung had been bothering me about coming to our friend Yunho’s annual Christmas party for days now, but I simply wasn’t in the mood.
“I’d rather not go at all.”
“Why?”
“You know why.”
A year ago at the same party, my boyfriend Mingi broke up with me. It wasn’t a bad breakup, but it still hurt. He was set to study abroad for the next year and it just made the most sense to him, he told me. So who was I to stand in the way of his dreams? We decided to cut contact shortly after, it being too painful for us to even have small talk. We hadn’t talked since.
I’d spent the following year in a limbo, trying my hardest to enjoy my newfound independence, but ultimately failing, my thoughts somehow finding their way back to Mingi. Everything reminded me of him.
Rainy days made me think of the way he loved to dance with me in the rain, spinning me and smiling wide, warm raindrops messing up our hair. Sunny days made me think of the times we’d both take off work to have picnics, making wishes on dandelions. Stormy days made me think of how we’d cuddle up to one another and watch a trash movie, making fun of the characters’ bad choices. He was a part of me. He always would be. I suppose two years of dating does that. I suppose they take a part of you with them, too.
I told myself I healed. I told myself I was over him. But deep, deep down I knew I wasn’t. Part of me never would be.
“He won’t be there this year, if that helps at all.”
I remained silent, refusing Wooyoung a response, looking down at the carpet.
“I get it. I know what you’re going through. It really wasn’t that long ago that Aisha broke up with me.”
My eyes darted up. Wooyoung hadn’t talked about their breakup with me yet. I refused to push him, knowing he was still in pain and that he’d tell me when he was ready.
“It was for the best but I can’t pretend like I’m gonna move on soon. We were dating for a year and a half for god’s sake.” He let out a bitter laugh and turned to me, “I know it’s tough, but would you do it for me? Please come.”
“Okay.”
-
The high shrill of a female voice rang out through my phone, leading me to pull the device away from my ear.
“I knew Wooyoung could get you to change your mind!”
“Arin I get that you’re excited, but I’m gonna go deaf if you keep yelling.”
“Ack I’m sorry! I’m just so excited to see you! It’s been, what? Five months since I saw you last?”
“Yeah something like that.”
“Well anyways, I know it’s probably tough for you but I really appreciate you going. I know everyone else will, too.”
I tried to push down the longing I felt for Mingi, remembering the previous year in far too much detail.
“Yeah it’ll be nice to see them.”
“Okay I hate to cut it short but my boss might actually fire me if he finds me on my phone again.”
“You’re literally dating him. There’s no way in hell he’d fire you. I’ve seen the way he looks at you.”
“Shh not so loud!”
I rolled my eyes, knowing I was speaking no louder than usual.
“Alright. Take care then. I’ll see you at the party.”
“Yep! Love you, girly!”
“Love you, too. See ya.”
My phone beeped, signaling the end of the call.
I checked the calendar hanging on the wall of my bedroom. Three more days till the party and I was dreading it more and more.
A knock at the door startled me and I made my way over, opening the door to find Wooyoung standing before me with a bouquet of flowers in his hands.
“What are you doing here?”
“What? Can’t a guy just drop by to say hello to his best friend?”
“He can, but you only do when you’re up to something. What is it this time?”
“Nothing! Scout’s honor!” He lifted a hand to make the famous three-fingered salute.
“You were never a boy scout, dumbass.”
Wooyoung brought a hand to his chest, mocking offense, “I’ll have you know that I simply brought flowers over as a thank you for agreeing to come with us.”
“Aww really? Do you wanna come in?”
“Yeah, really. But nah I can’t stay, I just wanted to drop them off.”
“You’re sweet.”
A cocky smile formed on his face, “I know.”
He passed the flowers over to me, giving me a hug and saying his goodbyes. I watched him walk to his car, a little skip in his step, wondering how anyone could let him go.
-
I grabbed my warmest jacket and walked out to my car. Today was the day I’d been dreading for weeks. Today was the day I’d have to put on a brave face and pretend I was alright. I mentally hyped myself up as I slid into the driver’s seat.
You’ll be okay. You’re strong. You can do this.
Snow was already starting to fall and I made a mental note to be careful. After all, Yunho’s cabin was roughly an hour away.
As I drove, the snow began to fall much faster, leaving me no choice but to feel concerned. My car didn’t have four-wheel-drive and what if my car got stuck? I was only fifteen minutes away but in snow like this with such a low temperature, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to walk the rest of the way.
The sun had already begun to set and seeing the road becoming much harder. Only four more minutes with the current speed I was going. I could make it.
Of course, the universe wasn’t having it and my car broke down almost immediately after I had the thought.
“Fuck.”
I panicked for a brief moment, trying to start up my car with no success.
Wait. My phone.
Grabbing my phone at rapid speed, I found it out of battery.
“I literally just charged it what the hell?”
I tried my best to cope with the fact that I had no choice but to walk the rest of the way. Taking a deep breath, I opened my car door and braced for the cold wind.
Trudging through the snow storm, I felt my ears and hands begin to hurt from the cold. I could barely see where I was going, having to rely on remembering where the cabin was based on the times I had been there prior.
Eventually I spotted a cabin in the distance and kept going, feeling myself lose heat with every step.
Finally, I climbed up the stairs and reached the main doorway.
I knocked loudly against the large wooden door, silently pleading for someone to answer. After waiting a few seconds with no response I tried to turn the door knob, grateful to find it unlocked.
I pushed the door open and entered, quickly closing it behind me. Warm air rushed over me and I never felt so thankful for indoor heating. The inside looked the same as it always did; the main door lead to the living room which had the same snow globes above the fireplace as always, the same Christmas decorations scattered throughout, and the Christmas tree in the same corner as usual.
I shivered and moved to find a blanket when I saw a tall figure enter the living room. I looked up, feeling my heart drop. Standing before me was the one man that I didn’t want to be here.
Mingi’s eyes widened and mouth opened, looking at me with surprise. It seemed both of us were frozen, unable to do anything other than look at one another.
His rich chestnut hair was longer than when I saw him last, it was parted in the center, reaching his eyes. He was wearing a fitted green sweater that complimented his honey skin and tight ripped jeans. I refused to allow myself to acknowledge how attractive he truly looked. I refused to tell myself how much I missed him and how I wanted nothing more than to jump in his arms.
“What are you doing here?” I managed to say, hating how timid my voice sounded. It’s because of the cold, I thought.
He seemed to come out of his trance, “I could ask you the same.”
“I’m here for the Christmas party.”
Mingi gave me a confused look. “The party isn’t until the twenty third.”
Annoyed, I narrowed my eyes, “It is the twenty third.”
He raised a brow and took his phone from his pocket, turning it to me, ‘December 19th’ it read.
“You’ve gotta be kidding me,” I huffed, moving to sit down on the couch while running my hands along my arms for some sort of warmth. Mingi noticed immediately and left the room only to bring back several thick blankets.
I removed my jacket and wrapped the blankets around me as tight as I could.
“My car broke down a while back and my phone is dead. Is there anyone here that could give me a ride?” I didn’t want to spend more time with him than I had to. It hurt too damn much.
Mingi gave an apologetic smile, “I’m the only one here, actually.”
I gave the man a confused look, “Why are you here?”
“My second semester ended so I’m no longer studying abroad. I came back to visit friends but didn’t have a place to stay so Yunho has let me stay here for a few days.” He was silent for a few seconds before adding, “I was gonna leave before the party I-”
“You don’t have to explain yourself. It’s fine.”
Silence.
“I would take you home if I could, but my car is being fixed right now so it isn’t here. We could call someone maybe if that-”
“Yeah that’s fine. Can I borrow your phone?”
He nodded and handed it over. I didn’t notice it when he showed me his phone before, but his lock screen was different. It shouldn’t have hurt to see that it changed from a selfie of us to a picture of him with friends I assume he made abroad. It shouldn’t have. It had been a year, I should be over him.
I opened his phone without needing a password and tried to hide a smile. He never had a password in all the time I’d known him.
Good to know some things never change.
I dialed Wooyoung’s number and pressed the call button.
“We are sorry, but at this time your service provider is out of range. Please-”
Great.
I handed back his phone, “You don’t have any signal.”
“That’s odd, we always have service here...Do you wanna charge your phone? Maybe you’ll have better luck?”
“Yeah.”
He left the room and I placed my head in my hands, trying to process seeing him for the first time in a year. He was devastatingly handsome and still as kind as always.
I really miss him, don’t I?
His voice started me, “Hand me your phone, I’ll plug it in for you.”
I passed my phone over, accidentally touching his warm hands and I felt a spark run through me which I did my best to ignore. With almost comical timing, just as Mingi reached a plug-in, the lights went out.
“Uhh...that’s not supposed to happen.”
I scoffed, “No kidding. Do we have a generator?”
“Honestly, I don’t think we do.” Mingi gave me a sad look, “It’s been snowing hard outside for hours so there’s no way we’ll be able to leave now. Even with a car.”
“Awesome. I love to hear that.”
“At the very least we’ve got food to last us a few days. We should be okay-”
“Do I look like I want to spend several days here?” I snapped.
He looked taken aback at my words and I felt a pang of regret in my chest.
“I’m not sure we have a choice.”
I hated to admit it, but he was right.
“Do you want any food?”
“Huh?” I asked, confused.
“Are you hungry? I could make you something if you’d like.”
I thought for a moment. “Yeah, actually. If you don’t mind, anyway.”
Mingi shook his head, walking to the kitchen. I didn’t realize how hungry I really was until he mentioned it, so I didn’t care what he made for me.
Minutes later he placed a plate and cup on the coffee table in front of me.
My favorite sandwich and chips. He remembered.
It should have been considered kind, but it just broke my heart a bit further. It was a simple act, but it proved that he stored it in his memory.
He remembered.
“I hope it’s still your favorite. I got you your favorite lemonade, too.”
I nodded, trying to prevent tears from spilling.
“I’ll be honest, I’m not quite sure what to do.”
“Lighting the fireplace would probably be a good start.”
He laughed, “Ah you’re totally right. I’ll be back with a lighter, call out to me if you need anything.”
Don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry.
Stuffing my face with the sandwich, I hummed. I always loved his sandwiches. There was something special about them, knowing that he made them for me, and this one was no different.
Mingi once again returned, this time with a lighter and a blanket, lighting the fire and sitting down on the couch across from me, wrapping himself in the blanket.
I couldn’t help but wonder how I possibly ended up in the current situation. Maybe the universe was out to get me. Who knows?
I took another bite of my sandwich, hoping I’d be able to leave soon.
-
I briefly glanced over at Mingi to find him on his phone.
Lucky. I wish I had mine so I wouldn’t be so damn bored.
The crackle of the fireplace was the only noise for what seemed like an hour. Neither one of us spoke. Growing tired of not doing anything, I stood and walked towards the fireplace to admire the snow globes. I noticed that behind the globes rested a photo album. I debated whether or not I should open it for the span of a few seconds before my curiosity got the best of me.
Opening it up, I saw pictures of all of our friends from the previous years of Yunho’s Christmas party. I began to walk back to the couch with my eyes on the book when I tripped, some of the pictures falling out. Mingi noticed and quickly rushed over to my side.
“Are you alright?” He was careful not to touch me, I noticed, but he was still right by my side.
“I’m fine, just help me pick these up.” I motioned towards the pictures scattered across the floor.
“Of course.”
We resumed our silence, picking the photos up and placing them back in the book. Noticing Mingi had stopped helping me I looked at him, prepared to make a quick jab at him for not helping, when I saw why he stopped.
In his hands he was holding a picture of the two of us kissing, dated two years prior.
I let out an empty chuckle, devoid of all humor, “I don’t know why that’s still there. Here,” I reached out to take the photo, “I’ll throw it away-”
“Don’t.” His response was immediate, taking me by surprise. He shifted awkwardly, clearing his throat, “I’d like to keep it.”
My heart felt like it stopped for a moment, hoping he missed us as much as I did.
“Why?” I asked.
Mingi smiled, still looking at the frozen image of the two of us. “Do you remember this day?”
“Of course I do.” My eyes began to water without me realizing, “That day was the first time you told me you loved me.”
His eyes found mine, sadness within them, “Yeah. Yeah it was.” His voice became horse as if he was fighting back tears.
“I didn’t want to let you go.”
“Then why did you?”
His eyes drifted down. “I was traveling halfway across the world for a year. I guess part of me thought you would meet someone else. I wanted to save myself the heartbreak in case you did.”
“I would’ve gladly stayed with you if you had asked. I have no desire to meet anyone else. Ever. You are the only one for me.” I froze, the realization of my words hitting me.
Mingi looked at me, “When I was abroad, I missed you every second of every day and I have missed you every second of every day since.” His hands cupped my face as if I was made of glass and a single tear fell down his cheek, causing my own tears to spill.
I was no longer able to speak, and so I did the only thing I could think of: I kissed him.
I kissed him with all the hurt that I felt after he left me. I kissed him with the deep love that I still felt for him. I kissed him with the fear that I’d lose him once again.
Our kisses soon grew heated, the photo album quickly forgotten, and I found my arms wrapped around his neck, hands running through his soft hair while his found their way to the bottom of my sweater, toying with it.
“Do you want this?” He growled, voice much deeper and raspier than before.
“Yes.”
With that, he pulled my sweater over my head, eyes scanning the red, lacy bra I was wearing.
His favorite.
Mingi chuckled, “This is still my favorite bra of yours.”
“I don’t know, I’ve got some new ones that are pretty hot.”
He let out a groan and began to leave kisses down my neck, setting my skin on fire.
I stopped him, needed to know one thing before we continued, “Did you...have you...since we last...?”
He smiled, “How could I? I’ve only ever been yours. Have you?”
I gave a slight smile, “No. No, I haven’t.”
I kissed him again and lifted his sweater, tossing it across the room. He had slightly defined abs when I was with him before, but they were far more prominent now. His arms were much more defined and it took all of my concentration to keep from drooling.
“Like what you see, doll?”
My voice was a borderline squeak, “Yes.”
“You still into praise, sweetheart?
I nodded, pulling on his jeans. Only slightly embarrassed with how eager I was.
“Not yet, baby.” Mingi easily lifted me to the couch and helped me remove my jeans. He grabbed my hips and placed me on his thigh, tightening his muscles as he dragged my clothed core across his own jeans. In mere seconds I became a quivering mess. I realized how truly long it had been since I’d been with anyone like this, and I had to admit I was needy.
“What a good girl you’re being for me. Aren’t you? You’re doing wonderfully, my love.”
I whimpered and pulled myself closer to him.
“Are you close, baby?”
I nodded, maybe too quickly, and felt my orgasm wash over me. I panted, already out of breath.
“Good girl.”
Bringing my lips to his I reached for his pants again and this time he helped me remove them. As I grinded down against him, he let out a deep growl.
“Let’s rid you of these, hmm?”
He eagerly removed my panties and bra and stared at me for a minute.
“God, you’re beautiful.”
I blushed fiercely. “You’re so incredibly handsome. Somehow even more so than when I saw you last.”
Mingi looked at me with a shy smile then resumed his actions. He removed his underwear and ran his length across my slit, teasing me slightly.
“Mingi, I need you.” I begged.
His eyes darkened and he entered me without hesitation. My back arched as he reached a steady pace and littered my neck with kisses, most likely leaving hickies, marking me as his.
I pulled his hair, bringing him closer to me. Mingi was always fairly vocal, but he could never get enough of me pulling his hair, always moaning in response.
He reached down and toyed with my clit, causing sparks to fly through me.
“Fuck—babe don’t stop.”
“Wasn’t—shit—planning on it, doll.”
Both of us quickly reached our high, cumming at the same time. I pressed a hand against his chest as I caught my breath.
“You’re still really, really good at that.”
Mingi laughed, “You are too, sweetheart. Oh wait-”
He got up and returned with a warm towel, cleaning me up and looking at me fondly.
“You’re cute.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Mingi smiled, placing the towel aside,“Now, how about we get under some blankets? We’ll feel cold soon enough.”
I nodded and began to put my undergarments on, reaching for my sweater.
“I think not.” He said, now with his pants on, handing me his own sweater which I gladly took.
“You look hella good in my clothes, miss.”
I giggled at his choice of words, feeling happiness bubble in my chest for the first time in a long time.
“You look hella good without a shirt, mister.”
Mingi raised a brow and ticked my sides, making me squeal.
“I’ll fight you!” I yelled.
He stopped and rubbed his nose against mine, “Sorry I can’t help it. Your laugh is the most beautiful sound in the world.”
“Shut up.” I laughed, feeling shy.
He placed arm around me, nuzzling my neck.
I turned to him, worry in my eyes, “I’m really sorry for lashing out at you earlier. That’s not like me.”
He smiled, “I know it’s not. But don’t worry about it, I understand. It’s a defense mechanism I guess.”
I cuddled up to him then realized I needed to use the restroom. I tried to get up when he pulled me closer to him.
“Please don’t leave me.”
“Silly, I just have to use the restroom. I don’t want a UTI.”
He laughed aloud, “Fine but you better come right back.”
“I will,” I told him, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek before I walked away.
I soon looked in the mirror of the bathroom, observing my flushed cheeks and the wide smile I couldn’t seem to wipe off my face.
This girl looks happy. I think I can get used to seeing her in the mirror.
I returned and was instantly pulled back into his arms.
“I love you.”
I felt a tear run down my face, feeling beyond happy, “I love you, too. So much.”
I wasn’t sure when, but I felt my eyes began to droop, slowly falling asleep in the arms of the man I loved.
-
The day following, Mingi’s phone recieved signal and I was able to call Wooyoung. Apparently the power lines had fallen, everyone in the immediate area losing power. The nearest roads had been somehow cleared overnight and he’d be able to come pick me up.
“Wooyoung’s on his way over, apparently everyone lost power.”
“Hmm. well I, for one, am glad we did,” Mingi pulled me into a tight hug.
“Yeah, me too.”
A silence fell between us, but it was comfortable this time.
Mingi spoke up, his voice becoming playful, “I’m taking you on a date soon. There’s nothing you can do about, I’m afraid you cannot refuse.”
“As if I would refuse.”
“Mmm.” I didn’t think he could, but he pulled me even closer to him.
“Mingi you’re literally gonna break my bones.”
He let go of me, eyes wide, “Did I hurt you? Gosh I’m so sorry I can—”
“You didn’t hurt me you goof.”
“Oh good. You scared me.”
The honk of a car horn scared me and I jumped, Mingi hiding a smile.
“Call me if you need anything, okay? You’ve got my number.”
“Of course.” Giving him one last kiss before I bid him goodbye and left the cabin, hopping in Wooyoung’s car.
“Holy shit are you okay? Was anyone even home? My god I feel so bad—”
“Mingi was there.”
Wooyoung’s face froze, quickly turning into a scowl, “I swear if he did anything to you—”
“No, don’t worry about it. We’ve made up,” I couldn’t help the smile that spread across my face.
He didn’t say anything, he only stared at me before he spoke again, “You two totally fucked, didn’t you?”
“Wooyoung!” I slapped his arm in shock.
“You didn’t deny it!”
“Oh shut up. Just take me home.”
He playfully rolled his eyes and put the car in drive.
“Just so you know, I’m happy for you. I get why he did it but I am still a little pissed. I swear to fucking god if he breaks your heart again I will actually break his knee caps.”
“Oh I don’t doubt it. I wouldn’t worry to much about it, though.”
“If you insist, okay.”
“I do.”
-
December twenty third. The day that I had been dreading once, now one that I had been very much looking forward to. I checked my makeup and outfit once more before texting Mingi.
Me: I’m ready whenever you are!
Mingi Mango: I’m outside :)
Me: Shit, already?
Mingi Mango: Language
I scoffed, grabbing my purse and running outside to meet him.
“Babyyyyyy!” Mingi yelled as he saw me.
“Mangoooo!” I yelled back, jumping into his arms.
“How are you? I haven’t seen you in forever!”
“Mingi it’s been two days.”
“But it feels like forever! You look absolutely stunning, by the way.”
“You cheese. You look really good yourself.”
“You know it,” Mingi winked and opened his passenger car door for me, “My lady.”
I was unable to keep from smiling, giving him a little kiss on the cheek and climbing into the car. The entire car ride was filled with lighthearted conversation, not a single silent moment between us.
“We’re here, doll.”
“Yes I see the cabin in front of us.” I teased him.
“Well just in case you didn’t I thought I’d let you know.” He laughed, eyes disappearing into crescents, and I felt my heart swell.
We held hands as we walked into the cabin, finding several pairs of eyes turning to us, then to our intertwined hands. I was pleased to find smiles on my friend’s faces, feeling happy that they were happy for us. Arin came running towards me at a seemingly inhuman speed and wrapped her arms around me.
“Ahhh how are you, girly? I’ve missed you so much! And you look gorgeous! I love that sweater on you! And your makeup! Wow! How’d you do that? Have you been eating well?”
“One question at a time, Arin.” I smiled.
“Sorry! I’m just so happy!”
"Me too!” I looked around, “Do you know where Wooyoung is?”
“Oh he’s out back with San. They’re having a competition to see who can build the better snowman.”
I shook my head with a smile.
At that moment she took a step back, looking at our hands. I had told her about Mingi and I dating again over the phone and she seemed happy for me, but I had to admit I was nervous to see her reaction in person.
“You,” She pointed a finger at Mingi, “If you hurt even a hair on her head I will actually fight you.”
Mingi’s eyed widened, assuring her that he would never hurt me.
She clapped her hands, “Well, good. Now that that’s over, do you all want a drink?” Arin cocked her head, the change in mannerisms throwing me a little.
“Yeah that’s fine.”
“Okay! I’ll be right back! Catch up with everyone you two!”
As if he was a ghost, Yunho appeared next to Mingi, scaring us both.
“Christ, Yunho. Give a man a warning first.”
“Sorry,” He chucked, “How are you both?”
“We’re doing well, thanks.”
“We’re happy.” Mingi turned to me and looked at me with heart eyes, butterflies fluttering in my stomach.
“You all are cute. Speaking of, you haven’t met Mia, have you?”
Mingi and I exchanged confused looks.
“No, I don’t believe so. Who’s that?”
“She’s my new girlfriend. We’ve been dating for a little over a month but if I’m being honest, I’m already head over heels for this girl.” Yunho turned, calling out to a girl surrounded by people, “Mia, can you come here?”
The short brunette walked over, a smile plastered on her face as she made eye contact with Yunho.
“I’d like you to meet my friends from high school.” He introduced us and she nodded, fully invested in the conversation.
“I’ve heard a lot about you both! I’m so excited to get to know you all better!”
I smiled at her enthusiasm, “Aww you, too!”
Arin walked over and handed Mingi and I our drinks, skipping off to meet another friend.
Yunho and Mia wondered off soon after, greeting more people coming in.
“Hey I’ve got something I wanna show you.” Mingi whispered in my ear.
“Oh yeah? What’s that?”
“Come with me.”
Before I knew it, Mingi was pulling me into a bathroom and locking the door.
“I know what you’re doing, Mango.”
“And what’s that?” He asked as he leaned down to reach my neck, kissing me gently, arms resting on my hips.
“We’re at a party.” I said, whining at him but doing nothing to stop him.
“I saw that couch when we walked in, you know? I’m never going to be able to look at it the same.”
“Me either.”
My head eventually won the fight I was having with myself, and I promised that if he could wait till he dropped me off I’d be all his. It seemed to appease him as he gave me one last kiss and led us out of the bathroom. Somehow, no one noticed and I was grateful, sure that my flustered expression would certainly give us away.
“Hey, look at this.”
My eyes moved in the direction Mingi was pointing, seeing a mistletoe directly above us.
“Oh you definitely planned that.”
“And if I did?”
“I’d kiss you all the same.”
Mingi bent down to kiss me, a hand on my face, another around my waist. As I wrapped my own hands around his neck, deepening the kiss, I couldn’t help but think that this was what true happiness felt like.
Thank you, Mingi. Thank you for giving me the greatest gift of your love. Merry Christmas, my love.

ꕥPairing: Fem!reader x Jongho
ꕥWord Count: ~1k
ꕥWarnings: None
ꕥA/N: I know this isn’t a popular series which makes me a little sad but I wanted to finish it anyway. If people end up liking it and it actually gets attention I might(?) make a part 3. It’s most likely gonna end here tho. Read part 1 also if you wouldn’t mind! Things will make a lot more sense if you do. You can do that here
ꕥA/N Cont: So even though I provided translations for some words, there is a phrase that I clarified in the middle of the writing bc I didn’t want to spoil anything
ꕥPhrase Guide:
你= You
加油 = You can do it (encouragement)
Jongho was surprisingly easy to talk to and we got along better than I thought we would. Not that I thought we wouldn’t get along, but I was still surprised.
After we had lunch together we exchanged numbers and began to hang out more, usually every couple days given our busy schedules.
He was so talkative that I found out almost everything about him in no time. He just turned 20, was a music major, and took Chinese because he wanted a challenge. He loved snow but hated the cold. Soccer was his favorite sport but he didn’t play often since he was always either studying or working as a tutor for underclassmen. He was born in Korea but grew up in America. Fluent in Korean but insecure enough about his American accent that he only spoke it with close friends and family. He met Mingi during a soccer camp he went to in middle school and his best friend - the guy with the mullet - was named Hongjoong and apparently much friendlier than he looked.
The more I spent time with Jongho, the more I realized I had feelings for him and the stronger they became. When Marina and I were alone in our dorm, I told her everything I was feeling and the response was exactly what I suspected.
“HA! KNEW IT!” Marina yelled, “I just won myself ten bucks.”
“I’m sorry, YOU WHAT?”
“I may or may not have made a bet with Mingi that you would catch feelings within three months of meeting Jongho. And you’re two days away from three months, girly.” She shrugged but kept the smile on her face.
“Oh my god you did not. Actually speaking of...what’s up with you two? Are you official yet?”
Marina went quiet for a moment then bit her lip, finally speaking up, “Well...not yet, technically, but we’ve seriously considered it. We have another date this weekend. Now all you have to do is get with Jongho and we can go on a double date.”
“Yeah I don’t know about that, M.”
“Y/n he totally likes you, if that’s what you’re worried about.”
“No I know. He’s got a few tells so I know he feels at least a little something. I’m just not sure if I should commit to anything, you know?”
Marina let out a loud laugh before speaking again.
“Pfft no. I dated all throughout high school. If I’m being honest, though, I really think you should give it a chance. People always freak out about possibly ruining a friendship by confessing but honestly if a friendship can’t withstand a little crush then you probably weren’t solid friends in the first place.”
“You know what? You’re right. I’ll tell him tomorrow.”
“Hell yeah girl! Go get him!”
-
The next day arrived way too quickly. Although I told myself I would confess, I was getting anxious. I walked into Chinese class holding hands with Marina for emotional support. We were the first ones there, as always, so I had a bit of time to rant.
“I’ll be honest, M. I’ve never felt butterflies like this before. I’m actually shaking.” I lifted up my hand to show her my slight tremor.
“Oh sweetheart! It’ll be all good! Promise. Just take a few deep breaths.”
I slowly breathed in and out for the next several seconds.
“You’re right. I can do this.”
The trio walked into class several minutes later. Mingi gave a quick kiss to Marina and Jongho gave me a friendly smile. Hongjoong rolled his eyes at the four of us and walked to his usual seat, propping his feet up on the seat in front of him.
The rest of the class filled in and soon our professor arrived.
The professor loudly clapped her hands, speaking up, “Alright class. Today I’m going to have you pair up in groups of two and work together. I don’t care who it’s with, as long as it’s with somebody. We’ve got an even number of students so we should be fine. I’ve got some games for you to play today.”
I turned to Marina but she was already halfway up the stairs to sit next to Mingi. I looked at Jongho but he motioned at Hongjoong, mouthing that he was sorry.
Okay. That’s fine. I thought. I’ll find someone else. Looking up I saw the unfamiliar young man standing in front of me. He blanked for a moment when I looked up at him.
“Hey! Uh...would you maybe want to be partners?”
“Are you sure? With the both of us together we’ll probably beat the whole class by a landslide.”
He laughed and sat down next to me, visibly more confident.
“I’m sure they can manage. I’m Tommy, by the way. You’re y/n, right?”
I nodded and smiled at him as we shook hands. I looked Tommy in the eyes and saw a slight blush on his cheeks. What I didn’t see; however, was the death stare Jongho was giving him.
The professor looked up and let out a laugh, pointing at Tommy and I.
“Yeah no way in hell am I letting that happen. You two are my best students and - no offense everyone - but no one would stand a chance against you two.”
“Ouch.” I heard Mingi say.
Jongho quickly stood up and raised his hand, “I’ll partner up with her!”
“Very good. Get on with it then.”
Tommy looked upset, making me feel bad for leaving him.
“Hey that’s okay, Tommy. Maybe next time?” I gave him a smile that he soon returned.
I walked up to Jongho, sitting next to him as Hongjoong sat down next to Tommy.
Jongho leaned in and whispered, “I’ll be honest, y/n. I’m really glad the teacher separated you two.”
“Yeah, I bet everyone is. We are the best in the class, no offense,” I laughed.
“Actually no I meant-“
“Alright class. I have talked in English for an unusually long time but in my defense, I was up basically all night grading essays so I’m running on two hours of sleep and a cappuccino. Nevertheless, I’ll now switch to Chinese. 加油.”
The first game was simple enough. The teacher wrote beginner to intermediate level phrases for us to translate. If we got it right, we got a point.
My team eventually won, beating Tommy and Hongjoong by a single point. Jongho really surprised me, getting almost as many questions right as I did.
Mingi and Marina ended up last because neither of them were paying attention, instead flirting with each other.
The second and final game was a little more complicated. We had to translate the sentence, as well as pronounce all the characters correctly. Tommy’s team was tied with mine until Jongho answered the last question correctly. I smiled at him and bounced in my seat.
“We won, Jongho!” I exclaimed, pulling him into a hug. He froze at first, but then put his arms around me and pulled me closer.
The professor spoke up once more, “We’re out of time for class today but remember you have a test next week. I expect you all to be studying!”
Our classmates soon left the room along with our teacher. Hongjoong quickly ran out to meet his new boyfriend - Seonghwa I think he said? - and Mingi and Marina were already gone. I assumed they left class sometime during the second game.
“Hey,” Jongho said to me as I was slipping on my backpack, “I was wondering if you could help me out with my writing in Chinese? Sometimes I mess up the stroke order and I could use the practice.”
“Sure! When do you want to study?”
“How about now?”
Jongho grabbed my arm and led me down to the whiteboard at the front of the class. I looked around at the empty classroom and nodded. I didn’t want to disturb anyone. He picked up a marker and began to write.
“I’ll write and you tell me if I make a mistake, okay?”
I laughed, “Sure, Jongho.”
As he started writing I didn’t see any mistakes. When he finished writing, I gasped.
“我喜欢你。你喜欢谁?”
[I like you. Who you you like?]
I smiled and took the marker from his hands, placing it back on the podium. I looked him in the eyes and cupped his face. “你” I said as I kissed him. I pulled back and looked into his eyes. He smiled and kissed me again, this time wrapping his arms around my waist.
We pulled back for air and I whispered, “You know, I was actually planning on telling you today, too. Marina encouraged me to tell you, but I guess I didn’t have to after all.”
“I mean you can still tell me, if you want.”
I gently kissed his cheek, “You already know how I feel.”
“Hmm. Actually I’m not quite sure. Could you clarify for me?” Jongho laughed when I playfully hit his arm.
“You know,” he continued, “when I said I was glad the teacher separated you earlier, I meant that I was glad you were away from Tommy. I’ve seen the way he looks at you and I really didn’t like it. I got so nervous because even though I tease, this is the first time I’ve felt like this. So I guess the question is...will you let me take you on a date?”
“Absolutely!”

God San was hot. Watching him just did something to me. Watching him fix his roof, shirtless, made my head spin. The way his muscles moved and his sweat dripped down his chest had me practicing drooling. And dammit I was gonna get some.
I couldn’t count the amount of times I had touched myself to the thought of him. Or the numerous wet dreams I woke up from involving him. I wanted him bad. I needed him.
Slipping on my torn high-waisted shorts and sheer body-con crop top, my thoughts were all on him. I wore my cutest purple lacy lingerie set underneath knowing that was his favorite color. San told me that perhaps a year ago when I first moved into the neighborhood. I was wearing a purple dress then, and he certainly noticed. I remember the slight blush on his cheeks after I made some flirty remark then walked away. Leaving him wanting more.
Every time I was near him there was sexual tension. I knew he felt it too because of the tent in his jeans I’d see.
Putting on a pair of cat-eye sunglasses and grabbing two large cups of lemonade, I made my way outside. Walking across the street I got a closer look at him and my breath hitched. San was faced away from me, muscles glistening with sweat.
Fuck. I thought. Keep your composure. All in good time.
“Hey San?” I called out, watching him turn around, “You’re gonna get heat stroke out here. Wanna lemonade?”
“Sure! Thanks, I’ll be right down.”
I watched him as he climbed down the ladder and walked over to me.
I handed one of the cups of lemonade to him, taking a drink from my own cup.
He gave me an innocent dimpled smile and my mind started to race. You don’t fool me. I’ve seen the way you look at me. You’re not as innocent as you lead on.
“So what are you doing out here, y/n?”
I removed my sunglasses before I spoke, tucking them in the back pocket of my shorts.
“Actually I saw this pretty hot guy working on his roof and thought I might offer him a drink.”
San grinned, “Damn. Man sounds like a stunner.”
“Oh he is.”
He raised an eyebrow and gave me a playful look. My eyes unintentionally trailed down to his abs. They weren’t incredibly prominent but damn they were there. San gently grabbed my chin and raised my head up to look him in the eyes.
“Like what you see, doll?”
I could feel my panties getting wet but did my best to ignore the feeling.
“I do,” I grabbed the hand he placed on my chin and ran it down the side of my body. I watched his pupils dilate and I leaned in close, “Do you?”
Not a second later he spun me around and pinned me to the wall of his house, dropping his lemonade. I was still holding my cup, his hands on either side of my head.
“What’s your game, babe? Trying to make me come undone? Is that it?”
My hand trailed down to where his jeans hugged his hips. I saw a small tent in his jeans and began to slowly make circles there. His groans turned me on more than I had expected, but I continued.
“And what if it is? It sure seems like it’s working.”
San groaned again, leaning in close to whisper, “Are you sure you want this? Want me?”
I answered his question by putting my free hand on his cheek and kissing him for dear life. His hands ran through my hair then trailed down to my waist.
“Up we go!” He said as he tossed me over his shoulder, carrying me into his house.
“Saaannn put me down! I dropped my lemonade!” I said through giggles.
“Well that’s too bad but I’m not putting you down until I say so.”
San plopped me down on his bed, looking at me for a moment before smiling, “You literally have no idea how long and how bad I have wanted this.”
He kissed my lips and quickly removed my shirt followed by my shorts.
I saw his eyes widen when he saw my lingerie. He ran his fingers over the straps of my bra, admiring it. Then he went straight to kissing my neck, leaving me a moaning mess.
“You sneaky bastard. You remembered I liked purple and you got this just for me. You came over to my house practically begging for sex. I could refuse you right now and send you back home.”
He ran his fingers along my clothed clit and I moaned louder than I intended. “Leave you high and dry - well, maybe not dry - and you’d have to resort to getting yourself off without me. But you’d be thinking about me the entire time, wouldn’t you?” I shivered at the thought, silently hoping he would let me stay.
I had enough teasing so I flipped him over. Now San was laying with his back on the bed, arms propping himself up slightly. He raised his eyebrows and gave me a cocky smile.
“Too much, sweetheart?”
Without responding I unbuckled his belt as quickly as I could, throwing it across the room, then I ripped his jeans off, doing the same.
“My...someone’s eager.”
“Oh shut up San. I know you want it, too. Don’t think I don’t notice how you look at me when I walk away. Or how you undress me with your eyes when you think I’m not looking. I could refuse you all the same.”
I took my time kissing his neck, down his chest, then further to the edge of his boxers, removing them. I looked up to see San’s darkened eyes and felt my panties soak.
“Let me take care of you, San.”
He leaned his head back as I slowly took him in my mouth. His groans were heaven to my ears. Just to know that I made him feel good made me wet.
As I sped up he bucked his hips into my mouth.
“I’m sorry babe I’m trying not to hurt you and I hope I’m not. It just...feels - fuck - feels really good.”
I moaned around him and he gently pulled me off of him, laying me back on the bed.
“I shouldn’t cum before the lady does, that’s just bad manners.”
I didn’t have the time to respond as he slipped my panties off and stuck two fingers inside me. He began to thrust in and out while using his other hand to pin my hands above my head. Of course, he just had to give me a killer smile.
I had been with a few men before and sex was good with them but San was so clearly different. Just with his fingers alone I was getting off quicker than I ever had before. I assume partly because of how bad I wanted him, but mostly because he was so good at it.
“You’re really good at this, you know?” I said in between harsh breaths and moans.
San gave me a deep chuckle.
“I’ve been told that once or twice.”
In no time I reached my first orgasm of the night, cumming hard around his fingers. San pulled out his fingers and placed them in his mouth.
“You’re sweet. Have you been eating pineapple by any chance?”
I laughed and pulled him close to me.
“I want you to fuck me, Choi San. Make it as rough as you want, I don’t care. I just want you.”
“You should know by now I don’t want to hurt you.”
“At this point, I really don’t care.”
I took off my bra and watched as his eyes travel down my chest.
“If you insist, kitten.”
Fuck. That got me. That nickname always made me wet but I couldn’t begin to tell you why. Not like I cared why, especially at the moment.
“Oh? You like that name? Guess I’ll have to use it more often,” San growled.
“Please, San.”
At my words he entered me, stretching me out and making my hands grasp his back, my nails probably leaving marks. He hissed in response and leaned close to me, whispering in my ear.
“Not too harsh, kitten. You wouldn’t want to be punished, would you?”
San snapped his hips, thrusting into me. I cried out as he continued, leaving me breathless. I looked at the sweat that was forming on his forehead, his eyes closed in concentration. I loved this, everything about it. I did my best to memorize everything. I didn’t want it to end.
“San, I’m close.”
“Me too, kitten.”
San moved his fingers down to my clit, making tiny circles.
“Cum for me, kitten”
I moaned loudly as I came, tightening around San. With a few more thrusts, he came. The deep groans that left his mouth sounded like heaven. He pulled out of me and laid there, looking at me.
“Listen, I don’t know about you, but I really don’t want that to be a one time thing. If you want, I’d love to take you on a date.”
I laughed at his shy smile. And grabbed his face softly.
“I’d like that.”

“It’s too damn hot for this,” Hongjoong said, wiping sweat off his forehead.
“Well what do you want me to do about it, Hongjoong?” San retorted.
“Well some shade would be nice, to start.”
Yunho, Hongjoong, San, and I made the terribly unfortunate decision to attend a festival in July...in the middle of a heat wave. To be fair, we were bored as hell and barely had time to go out anymore with our busy schedules.
Hongjoong continued, “It’s literally 92 degrees outside. This is disgusting.”
“Your mom’s disgusting.”
“Watch your mouth, San, or I’m gonna smack you to next week.”
“Ha. I’m sure you would if you could reach me.”
“Alright, that’s enough testosterone out of the both of you,” I wiped my sweat-filled hair out of my eyes and continued, “let’s try and enjoy this, okay?”
“Y/n you literally look like wet dog.”
I closed my eyes and feigned annoyance, “San I don’t have the time or patience to deal with you right now.”
I looked up at Yunho and saw him smiling. Even though he hadn’t said a word I could see the playfulness in his eyes. He didn’t look back at me but clearly saw me looking and squeezed my hand in acknowledgment.
Yunho finally spoke up, “How about some blossom ice cream? It’s a tradition of y/n’s and mine to get some every year.”
I nodded my head in agreement, remembering all the cute memories we made here since we started dating. I then looked to gauge San and Hongjoong’s reactions. San seemed to be on board but Hongjoong had a different opinion.
“What the hell is that? Is it made with legit blossoms or something?”
“No, dumbass. It’s pink sherbet.”
“Then why on earth is it called blossom ice cream, y/n?”
“Dude,” Yunho interjected, “This celebration is literally called The Blossom Festival.”
“Oh. Uh...sure then.”
“...dumbass.”
-
We walked along the busy street, watching people pass. Little children chased one another holding pink stuffed animals while others played carnival games. Young teenagers could be spotted kissing under blossom trees. Elderly were often found sitting on benches under the shade, reminiscing and telling stories of when they were young. There was a place for everyone here, I think that’s partly why I liked it so much.
“This certainly is a busy place, especially considering the weather,” Hongjoong said as he fanned his face with his hand, clearly regretting wearing all black.
“It’s so obvious that you’ve never been here before. People will come here in over 100 degree weather just to celebrate and play games.”
“Yunho, that’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.”
“I mean it’s 92 right now, and look at all the people still here,” Yunho motioned all around us.
“Touché.”
-
After what felt like forever, we reached one of the booths selling blossom ice cream. Surprisingly, there wasn’t that long of a line.
“This better be worth it, Yunho.”
“It will be, San. Trust me.”
Standing in line for 15 minutes doesn’t sound like much, but when the heat is steadily climbing it feels like you’re the wicked witch and someone just threw a bucket of water at you. Luckily, the line was under shade.
Finally, when we got the ice cream, it was just as good as I remember. Just like-
“OH MY GOD THIS IS THE BEST ICE CREAM I’VE EVER HAD IN MY FUCKING LIFE.”
“San you need to calm your ass down, there are children,” Hongjoong said while we all laughed at San’s reaction, “It is super good though.” He added.
Surprisingly, we were silent for a while, simply enjoying our ice cream until San spotted a certain carnival game.
“HONGJOONG THEY HAVE THAT ONE GAME WHERE YOU THROW THE NEEDLE THINGS AT THE BALLOONS AND THEY POP! WE GOTTA GO!!”
San turned to Hongjoong and shook his shoulders, yelling at him a bit too loud, “WE COULD WIN A GOLDFISH!”
Before Hongjoong could get a word in, San ran off in the direction of the booth.
Hongjoong put a hand on his face and sighed, “Alright I’ll take the child. You two lovebirds have fun.”
Yunho and I looked at each other. Both of us had smiles on our faces as we raised our ice creams.
“Geonbae!” We cheered and continued to eat our ice cream.
“You know y/n, I’ve been thinking.”
“Have you been doing so safely? That’s a dangerous game, babe.”
He rolled his eyes, “I meant our three year anniversary is coming up and I want to do something special.”
“Oh yeah?” I raised my eyebrows, “What did you have in mind?”
“Honesty, whatever you want, honey.”
Yunho kissed me gently, then pulled back only for me to place my hand on his cheek and pull him back to my lips.
“You’re pretty cute, you know that?”
I blushed, making Yunho smile. He kissed both of my pink cheeks and whispered to me, “I don’t care what we do. I’m with you and that’s all I care about.”
