i forgot to post my Ostara altar! this is the first time i fully decorated my altar and i’m kinda proud of it 🥺

Ok, so I know it's not my usual fair, but I just got my Hestia statue for my Altar, and I'm really really happy 😁 she actually came in, I think, a little earlier than expected, which is great 👍

For reference, this is what my Altar now looks like!

So, the statue is pretty obvious, it's definitely the only statue there so far, and it's in praise of Hestia, goddess of the Hearth. Also for Hestia is the big ass painting(made by one of my absolute best friends in the world who is unfortunately not on this app but made it for my birthday 'cause she's awesome like that!!!), and then a couple of basily, minty smells for the wax melter. I also have a more official altar for Hestia that sits on the mantle piece; it's a little mini forest candleholder thing that I made a while ago with a candle that really just reminds me of Her.

The car is for Hermes, god of Messengers and Thieves. It's mainly there because He helps me a lot when I'm driving, and it felt fitting, but there's also a sticker with the number 4 on it(his sacred number) and four flowers that seemed like his vibe. There's also a strawberry because it's one of his sacred foods, but low-key I always forget that, even though I'm constantly eating strawberries 😂 He has some wax scents, but not too many, just because there weren't that many that spoke to me for him.

Right now, all I have for Apollo is a sun sticker with seven crows(both his sacred number and his sacred bird. Fun fact about that, when I was looking for stickers to decorate the altar with, there were exactly seven crows, and I think that's pretty cool), a few scents(mainly summery fresh ones, right now I have a honeysuckle scent that just really spoke to me.), and a ring I got from my grandmother that isn't shown.

I do have a few items such as the ring holder, the smaller painting (made by the same girl who did the big one), and the heart that just seemed to fit. I don't directly pray to any deities that find those items symbolic, but it couldn't hurt to keep them handy, right?

Anyways, I have a bracelet for Hermes coming in the mail that's supposed to come soon, so maybe I'll post that, too. Have a good day!

I’ve been meaning to make some kind of portable altar for a while, figuring I’d just put together some kind of tiny kit for travel or something. Then I was like HEY WAIT, I COULD JUST DRAW ONE IN MY GRIMOIRE, and voila :D

I’ve been feeling really good recently.

Starting my craft again and putting my heart into it has helped immensely. It has helped me feel more grounded than I did a couple weeks ago and I am starting to feel like myself.

I still have my bad moments and that’s okay because most have been good moments.

I’ve been reading The Crooked Path by Kelden and I’ve been really enjoying it. Makes me want to read more nonfiction books and has gotten me back into reading!

My girlfriend (of 5 years<3) is getting a little into herbs and that has me very excited!

I’m really loving where I’m at right now.

I’ve felt crappy all day and ended up skipping class and laying in bed. I got up and finally did a protection candle I’ve been wanting to do and it made me excited to do more.

I’m really tired of feeling like garbage.

Happy Mabon!!! I refreshed Loki's altar while celebrating today. New additions include, a few small tea statues, new cinnamon sticks, a bundle of rosemary I grew, a lucky cat, a mini scarecrow, a new offering glass (seen top right), a gourd, and a color changing light up ghost. I hope you had a good Equinox!

Finally re-doing my altar after so many months not getting to it. I miss praying. Sure, nobody needs anything to pray, but last months were very stressful and now finally it becomes easier, so, it’s time to reconnect again. Religion is beautiful when not abused.

Out of all the cats in the house, Meringue is always on the altar, loafing, not even playing with the dangly things. What a well-behaved cutie who covets the altar cloth 🧡

Update. Now I made him an altar. I tried candle painting, which turned into candle sculpting and made him a sigil. He is now possessive of all the candles i used for painting n stuff, so they are crowding around his big blue candle like little followers lmao.

I used a blue fabric for the tablecloth, then added my white and cream coloured scarves behind. He also seemdd to like my espresso cups, so he gets them. He also has a crystal glass bowl.

And he got attached to my lava lamp (blue water, red/orange blobs).

I'll try drawing him later, so hope this willturn out well.

After a new altar setup for my candles I feel more at ease and its feels very natural here. My craft slowly becomes more natural to me daily and I’m happy to my connection to magick.

Just made dedicated candles for my spirit guides and ancestors! Im excited to work with them more and pray to them

An altar can be as simple or elaborate as you need. While traditional altars may have statues, candles, tools, and crystals, a minimalist or budget-friendly altar can be just as effective.

Basic Elements of an Altar:

• Surface – A small table, shelf, windowsill, box lid, or even a cloth spread on the floor.

• Representation of Spirit/Deity/Intention – This can be a photo, a symbol, a small figurine, or even a handwritten name or sigil.

• Personal Objects – Anything meaningful like jewelry, a cup, a handmade charm, or natural objects from your environment.

Elemental Representations (Optional):

• Earth – A rock, salt, soil, a small potted plant.

• Air – Incense, a feather, a piece of paper with a prayer or spell.

• Fire – A candle, a matchstick, a small LED light.

If space is a concern, you can adapt your altar to fit small or temporary setups:

• Digital Altar – A private folder on your phone or computer with images, prayers, and intentions can serve as a modern altar.

• Hidden or Foldable Altar – If privacy is needed, keep items in a drawer or behind books and only bring them out during practice.

Low-Cost Altar Ideas

You don’t need expensive ritual tools—many everyday or natural items work just as well:

• Candles – Birthday candles, tea lights, or even an LED candle.

• Incense Alternatives – Dried herbs (like rosemary, sage, or cinnamon) burned in a small fireproof dish.

• Crystals & Stones – Local river stones, shells, or even broken glass polished by the ocean.

An altar is not about luxury or appearance—it’s a personal, sacred space where you connect with the divine, your inner self, or your magickal practice. Even in a small, low-budget setting, your altar holds immense spiritual power when built with intention, meaning, and respect.

Broke Boy Guide to Altar Offerings

Hey! Are you broke but still wanna offer something up to the gods? Don't worry! (So am i) So here's a guide of things that are either free, low cost or that you probably already own to slap onto those altars. Mind you: These are mainly modern offerings that I attribute to these different classification of gods. I'll likely update as time goes on with other classifications :)

What about altars?

Anything can be an altar — and you don’t necessarily need one to communicate with the Gods. If you choose to have one, it should come from love and affection for the deity, from a genuine desire to honor them.

You can use pictures, statues, or simply items that represent the deity. It’s usually placed in a quiet spot in your home, somewhere that makes you feel calm and safe.
