Where Every Scroll is a New Adventure
So!
I am a lead singer and guitarist in a band, we are called Vessels of Rebirth. We have 5 members, including myself, and currently we have learned two songs and starting two more
I have just finished my first draft for our first original song and I wanted to share the lyrics and if you guys have any ideas or criticism I'd love to hear it!
**PLEASE DO NOT COPY OR TAKE MY LYRICS**

The song is called Pennies for the Dead -
Verse 1: I’ve asked myself the age-old question, Is it really worth the fight? They sell you chains and call them choices, Bleed you dry beneath the lights.
If you find yourself contented Cherish these words like dust— Work hard, smile, and don’t complain, When they leave you out to rust.
They build their castles out of marrow, Line their pockets with our bones. Sing us lullabies of virtue, While they carve our names to stone—
Chorus: So tell me—was it worth it? Did you find what you were looking for? Tell me—did you earn it? Or just steal it from the poor? Take my body, take my spirit, Drain me ‘til there’s nothing left, A poor man’s poison Is just another penny for the dead
Verse 2: I watched the years slip through my fingers, Like wages never meant to stay. They built a throne from our surrender, We built their kingdoms, brick by grave
You’ve turned my hands to iron shackles Worn my bones down to gears Though you may feast upon my labor You’ll die choking on my screams
Chorus: So tell me—was it worth it? Did you find what you were looking for? Tell me—did you earn it? Or just steal it from the poor? Take my body, take my spirit, Drain me ‘til there’s nothing left, A poor man’s poison Is just another penny for the dead
Bridge: Tell me now—was it worth it? You stand alone atop your grave. Built your kingdom out of corpses, Now there’s no one left to save.
All the hands that fed your empire, Now they rise with bloodstained teeth. You can beg, you can bargain— But the dead don’t grant relief.
Final: If you are to listen to one last thing dear Promise your heart’s desire For if you follow the iron road You’re doomed to a pit of fire

I wrote this song a year ago during one of the toughest & loneliest period of my life. I had a mental break down, I trashed my room & stomped on my computer. I was preparing to end my life that day. I painted my room with all the reasons why. As I sat on the floor amidst all the chaos I looked over to my guitar. & it hit me that I was going to die without ever learning to play guitar. I remembered how much i love so many of the beautiful songs this instrument created. That realization was enough to motivate me to keep on living because I knew at least one thing I loved was possible. I knew it was possible to experience something new. This is one of the very first songs I created right after this experience. I used it as a way to comfort myself & remind myself i'll be there for myself through it all. This song is dedicated to me & anyone who's ever felt the same or similarly. I was crying a bit before I recorded this so if my voice sounds kinda funny that's why but as long as the message is felt then that's all I care about. I love you all even the ones that hurt me
On October 3rd of 2015, Toronto was paralyzed by heavy winds. While everyone stayed home, I took my camera and headed to the beach to capture Lake Ontario's awakening.
Not only were the lake and the sky gorgeous... there was no one walking around and no boats in the distance to ruin the shots!
Here’s a review of “The Plague, it came a-riding!”, Sungeist’s debut LP
The Mustache Club
Neofok/freak folk
Canada
Cassette
New Weird America (Devendra Banhart, Six Organs of Admittance, etc.).
Between the sun and the moon !

Bushwick Triangle in Brooklyn! 🎷✨ It's an atmospheric jazz club that has become one of the hidden gems of the New York music scene.
The name comes from a triangular street intersection in the area, in a former workshop or warehouse - the exact details are shrouded in a hint of urban legend, and the club itself was founded in the 2010s, when Brooklyn was experiencing a jazz music renaissance, especially in the Williamsburg and Bushwick neighborhoods. The venue has become a mecca for the new wave of jazz, where classical sounds mix with hip-hop, electronica and improvisation. The club is known for its intimate atmosphere, great acoustics and eclectic lineup of artists - from classic jazz to experimental improvisation. This is where young artists test new ideas. It is said that names such as Kamasi Washington and Robert Glasper have dropped in for spontaneous jam sessions....

Toi & moi by Zaho & Mok Saib [lyrics and full english translation]
In many of the lyrics you can find on the internet, the arabic part of this song is translated as literal gibberish or erased. I was so outraged that i translated it myself ('cause i wanted to know what it said too). Please don't hesitate to correct me, although i guess nobody is gonna see this, but now i know it's out there at least.
why am i doing this i am nothing more than a poor fanfic author lol the audacity to tranlsate from arab without knowing the lenguage too. anyway.
You and me
VERSE
Raconte-moi, c'est vrai ou pas?
Tell me, is it true or not?
Our story is over, baby, because of me
J'suis resté ici, ne m'en veux pas
I stayed here, don't blame me
J'ai du mal à accepter vu qu'j'serai loin de toi
I can't take it* since I'll be away from you
Note: [I find it hard to accept] since I'll be away from you
T'es rentrée dans ma vie, ouh-ouh
You came into my life, whoo-hoo
T'as comblé le vide, yeah
You filled the void, yeah
Tu m'as fait que rêver, nan
You only made me dream, nah
Bébé والفتك c'est vrai
Baby you're lethal, it's true
PRE-CHORUS
Ah ouais, ah ouais
Oh yeah, oh yeah
My love*, I just wanted to take your hand and fly away
Note: (it says "ma belle", which would mean "my beautiful").
T'as oublié
You forgot
That I never left you and you know it
CHORUS
My life, why are we doing this?
We were fine, an enemy came between us
Still, (my) love is with you, it's not over
Que toi et moi, on s’barre de là
For you and I, we’re getting out of here
My life, why are we doing this?
We were fine, an enemy came between us
Still, (my) love is with you, it's not over
Que toi et moi, on s’barre de là
For you and I, we’re getting out of here
VERSE
Est-ce que c'est vrai tout c'qu'on m'a dit?
Is it true what I've heard?
À c'qu'il paraît, tu aurais même refait ta vie
They say you've even remade your life
Dis-moi qu'c'est faux, qu'j'me fais des films
Tell me it's not true, I'm raving
عين
We were beautiful but they threw us the evil eye*
Note: the evil eye, عَيْن (ʕayn) often signifies what is regarded as the injurious and damaging supernatural effects of jealousy and envy.
À l'amour, à la vie, ha-yah
To love, to life, ha-yah
On s'était promis, ha-yah
We promised each other, ha-yah
J'ai le cœur déchiré, haya-yah
I'm heartbroken, haya-yah
Ai qu'mes yeux pour pleurer, ha-yah
I can only cry now*, ha-ya
Notes: [I've only got my eyes to cry with], ha-yah
PRE-CHORUS
Ah ouais, ah ouais
Oh yeah, oh yeah
My love*, I just wanted to take your hand and fly away
T'as oublié
You forgot
That I never left you and you know it
CHORUS
My life, why are we doing this?
We were fine, an enemy came between us
Still, (my) love is with you, it's not over
Que toi et moi, on s’barre de là
For you and I, we’re getting out of here
My life, why are we doing this?
We were fine, (until) an enemy came between us
Still, (my) love is with you, it's not over
Que toi et moi, on s’barre de là
For you and I, we’re getting out of here
OUTRO
Oh my God, oh my God, I hurt*
Note: مغبون can mean aggrieved, sad, sick, tired, pained.
Oh my God, oh my God, I didn't get any sleep
Oh my God, oh my God, I hurt
Que toi et moi, on s'barre de là
You and I, we’re getting out of here
Notes: "Que toi et moi" literally means "that you and I". The "que" can mean many things depending on context, so it's translated differently on the outro.
Oh my God, oh my God, I hurt
Oh my God, oh my God, I hurt
Que toi et moi, on s'barre de là...
You and I, we’re getting out of here...
this is the song
