Tim: I think I've been focusing too much on the gun aspect of gun Batman and not enough on the Batman aspect. All I have to do is never become batman and I'll never become gun batman and I can shoot as many people as I want!

A lot of people have been talking about how Tim's 16th birthday has probably effected him, but no one is talking about how it might effect his relationship with Alfred. Yeah, he can't trust Bruce anymore, and he definitely has trust issues, but Alfred was part of it. Alfred was in on the test! There is no way Tim doesn't have trouble trusting Alfred and just imagine how that must feel. Alfred is like the best, most trusted and liked member of the family and he's not even capable of trusting him, he must feel awful. When he looked at Alfred and realized he didn't trust him is when he realized that he might never trust anyone ever again.

To me, the funniest thing about seeing recent, as in the last few years, fanart of the batfamily is how Tim is not specifying tied to any outfit. For him, it's basically whatever the artist likes most or one they made up themselves and personally I think it's great.

Don't get me wrong, the other have a bit of nuance too, like Jason is a toss-up between his old costume with his helmet and his most recent one. For Damian, he might have his most recent gray and red costume vs his standard robin costume. But Tim's is always artist's pick and I think it's fabulous.

So I just re blogged a post that made me think about this.

All the batboys look more like their moms than their fathers in some way.

Tim and Jason HATE IT with a burning passion. Both for different reasons of course. Tim (as the post that inspired this) is hauntingly beautiful. Just like his mother was and he is so thankful he wasn’t born a girl because he knows he would hate his looks even more than he does now.

Jason literally died because of her, she sold him off to the joker for a chance to escape. This man has MOTHER ISSUES in the biggest block letters you can imagine. Dick made the mistake of saying “she’s obviously who you get your good looks from.” And Jason refused to speak to him for weeks.

Dick will never admit it but he’s forgotten what his parents looked like before they died, he says he looks like the perfect mix of both of them when in reality he’s his mothers carbon copy and he just doesn’t remember it.

Damian is the child that actually looks like a perfect mix of his parents. He looks like a young Bruce but when standing next to Talia a lot of people would say he just looks like a masculine version of her. He takes pride in it and secretly loves it when Bruce makes a comment like “you look so much like your mom when you make that face.”

Bruce knows he looks like his mom, he just refuses to admit it. For years after she died he would see himself in the mirror and see her and it physically pained him. Now when he looks in the mirror, he sees Damian.

That scene in Fence: Disarmed where Aiden and Jesse fence each other, while Aiden tells Jesse that Seiji is clearly over him. Jesse still wins the match and Aiden asks if it *feels* like he won. And of course Jesse is like “yes? Because I won!” but he’s so angry…

Maybe you won but it do you feel good about it? In the end, does it really matter that you won?

Steph and Tim are the type of people to go into school wearing their pajamas, or dress in a bold, dramatic outfit that definitely breaks dress code. No in-between. Either they've just rolled out of bed, or they've spent over five hours getting ready for no good reason.

been doing my mandatory yearly rewatch of avatar and you know what I realised?

toph was never really affected by the war.

in the episode where zuko shows up to try and join the gaang, sokka katara and aang are all extremely opposed to this option, but toph is willing to give zuko a chance - and she says it herself, that there isn’t any other option and the judgement of katara and the others is clouded by their personal grudges, and she’s right. but the thing that I realised much later is that not only does toph not hold a grudge against zuko because she’s not had any real experiences with him/is more forgiving than the others, but also because toph never really had any real stakes in the war in the first place.

sure, she’s an earth kingdom citizen and an earthbender, but her wealth would have protected her if the Fire Nation reached Gaoling and having been raised in such an isolated manner wherein she has (apparently) no lower class friends whose fathers and brothers would’ve been sent off to fight, she doesn’t know anyone who is directly affected by the war. I bet her parents also kept her completely away from any news of the war in order to “protect” her, and so unlike katara, sokka, suki and aang toph never actually was affected by the war on a personal level, which makes it so easy for her to forgive zuko and allow him in to the group. It’s easy to see katara and sokka as overeacting to her suggestion to let zuko train aang, but the only time the fire nation actively affected her family or her living situation was when azula wouldn’t let them sleep that one week. I don’t think toph was actually ever aware of the full extent of the damage the fire nation had inflicted on the world - I think if she had been, her demeanor would have been much angrier than how she was portrayed. because of the above, there never was any real reason for toph to hate zuko without having ever met him, and for the same reasons she is not really affected by the others’ horror at iroh having approached them to save zuko.

It’s just interesting how the avatar universe portrays privilege in this particular situation and how it affects the opinions and decisions that toph has/makes.

That’s his adoptive father, he raised the kid and has been his dad 3x longer than John Grayson was.

Adoption is just as good as blood and as a human from a patchwork family it makes my skin crawl that folks try to play it off and get their incesty-kink while saying “it’s not wrong they aren’t related!”

I ain’t related to my brother. BUT HE’S STILL MY BROTHER. And as for the argument “They didn’t grow up together!” My big sister was 12 when she was adopted; I’ve known her since I was 9, THAT’S THE SAME AGE GAP AS JASON AND DICK.

My dad ain’t gonna hit on any of his kids just because they aren’t blood related to him. cus that’s not something good parents do.

And anyways! It’s still an adult and a young person they mentor/parent. That’s a huge power imbalance even if there wasn’t nearly 20 YEARS BETWEEN THEM.

so in conclusion: STOP SHIPPING ADOPTED KIDS WITH THEIR ADOPTIVE PARENTS OR SIBLINGS. it’s still incest and it’s freaking gross.
