Just asking but do you have any particular thoughts/hcs on shinra x izaya (mine are mostly unrequited rip)

Shinra knows, and he has respect for all things that revolve around love so he doesn’t acknowledge it. Because of that, and because of Izaya’s refusal to admit it openly, Izaya’s got a lot of repressed resentment over the years. If they ever were to talk about it, Shinra would more than likely be incredibly kind. Overall though, Shinra’s kind of indifferent to whether Izaya ever wants to admit it or not.

The thing about Izaya is that he doesn’t want to have a crush on anybody. He doesn’t want to have feelings for people, he wants to be above it all. But Shinra’s one of those (very, very) few people that see Izaya for who he is and associate regardless, without an obligation to. Like, Shinra definitely uses Izaya the way everyone else in his life does, but it’s not because he has to or because Izaya’s holding something over his head. That’s a special kind of relationship that Izaya values a lot, and it makes it even harder to ignore.

Izaya is especially antagonistic to Shinra when there’s an audience but when it’s just the two of them, he grows solemn and much like his true self. He almost drops the barrier he’s put around himself, claiming that it’s actually that Shinra gets on his nerves and he can’t help but be irritated when he’s around. In reality though, Shinra’s one of the only people Izaya feels truly comfortable around. Because they’re the same.

In middle school he had dreams of sleeping on Shinra’s shoulder and even kissing him on the lips. He chalked it up to puberty and has perpetually ignored it ever since.

Shinra is touchy feely. He doesn’t necessarily hug Izaya every time he sees him or anything (God could you imagine? lol), but he doesn’t mind putting his arm around Izaya’s shoulders and giving him one of those aggressive side hug things that they do in anime sometimes. Izaya doesn’t care for that shit at all.

Izaya has a soft spot for Shinra, and as such he does things in such a way that (aside from occasionally inconveniencing Celty) his business doesn’t inhibit Shinra’s happiness. The one time he did actually plan to inhibit Shinra’s happiness, or do something that he thought might, it very obviously disturbed him (see: novel telephone pole scene).

And now for the Shizaya side of things lol:

Shizuo and Izaya are open about their past crushes. Izaya very begrudgingly admits all his feelings for Shinra to Shizuo and Shizuo is pretty understanding about it. Of course, there are other reasons why Izaya and Shinra’s relationship is complicated and even though all the prior things said about Shinra is true, Shinra very obviously doesn’t value Izaya as a friend and is very open about the reasons why they’re even friends to begin with. So, Shizuo has to find some way to juggle the line of wanting to strangle Shinra while also recognizing that Shinra and Izaya are both pretty equally at fault for their fucked up friendship.

Izaya hates double dates with Shinra and Celty for multiple reasons, but Shizuo enjoys getting to spend time with Celty and secretly hopes that she and Izaya will become close one day.

Any arguments involving Shinra or about Shinra are tense. Shizuo doesn’t like approaching them unless it’s absolutely necessary because deep down he knows that all those years of knowing that Shinra not only would reject him romantically but also just didn’t even really care about him platonically really fucked Izaya up. 

Any time Shizuo rags on Shinra is a great time for Izaya. He gets all giggly and clings to him like Shizuo’s his hero or something. (He is. ❤️)

Hey Shiga I've been digging your OCs Gabriel and Hershel on Twitter a lot! Could I ask if you could share a little more about them?

THEY'RE MY LITTLE MEOWMEOWS, MY FUCKED UP DOGS,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, thank you for your interest anon, they're my faves OCs and the most personal. I've been trying to write a story for them for the past 5 years and cannot make up my mind about what to tell, so I'll try to channel Vibes here.

- Childhood friends to lovers, zombie apocalypse, roadtrip, time loop situation.

- They rely heavily on each other, it's a right-hand-left-hand thing, do not separate them, they've basically fused together at some point. They share the braincell.

- Gabe is Smart and Strong, he's been the one making calls for both of them for as long as they can remember. Golden child. He protects. Immovable object. But :( he got bit :(

- Hershel is a sewer rat who !! tries his best!! but hasn't succeeded in a long, long time. Unstoppable force. He's been burdened with the awful task of reliving the same span of days trying to stop the same event from happening. He's tried everything, every route, every scenario. He's been forced to take the lead, become stronger and wiser for both of them. He's grown a little bit bitter, a little bit unhinged, but he won't stop until he's found the way to save them both.
