whenever i read a marauders with badly translated french/spanish/italian etc i don’t really care bc i know the author tried their best, and it gets the point across that such character can speak such language anyway, and it just doesn’t impact the story. whatever.

HOWEVER, if you’re gonna make a character use a pet name from a language you don’t speak, please look up a list of pet names from that language rather than translating a pet name directly from english. not only does it NOT work, it’s also sometimes very bizarre.

for exemple, there was this one fic where sirius wanted to say ‘babygirl’ in italian and the author translated it to ‘bambino’… which means child/little boy 😭

sirius was sharing stories from their childhood while barty was sharing stories from their time at hogwarts and they both got to discover a new side of the regulus that only the other had seen before <3

also they were both grateful that regulus had someone that loved him and was looking out fir him when they weren’t there

barty and sirius were actually next to each other in azkaban and they bonded over having daddy issues and being gay for their best friend
