I like these music posts, so here’s another one. Laibach is a Slovenian martial industrial band that has been active since 1980 and are known for their cover songs adapted to their own dark totalitarian style. This one from their NATO album has 1994 Yugoslav war themes and 1994 CG to match.

I love watching people break games. This tool-assisted glitchfest of the SNES International Superstar Soccer Deluxe replaces the referees with dogs that apparently can’t keep score and don’t take issue with players messing around behind the goals. Locomalito makes hard traditional 2D games that can be beaten in one sitting, and he releases them for free out of his love of arcade culture. Check out Maldita Castilla, his love letter to dark Nintendo Hard platform games like Ghosts ‘n Goblins and Castlevania. Most of the monsters come from Spanish myths we don’t normally see in video games. Find the hidden Moura’s Tear item in each stage and try not to lose your soul. The developer also made Hydorah, a brutally difficult horizontal scrolling shooter with powerups.

We don't often see movies from Ghana, but Rockson Emmanuel blesses us with these outrageous trailers that regularly feature at Anime Hell. He's still working on it. Good for him! Get out there and create weird, cool stuff.

I'm questioning if the move to Tumblr last year was a good idea. My feeds are panicking about stuff getting flagged! Tumblr might suffer the same fate as other services Yahoo bought. It's too much work to write the same post on WordPress and Tumblr, and all the linked text is lost on Facebook and Twitter cross-posts anyway.

I actually got this one from a Tumblr I'm going to call F'Yeah Pixiv that sadly isn't updated anymore. It's one of the last things posted on that Tumblr. (My old blog had all work safe text, but when I’m reblogging a user named fuckyeahpixiv-blog, I guess that idea goes out the window.)

Snail's House – [snowdrift]

Here in Ohio, we finally got our first decent snow of the winter. I really like snow as long as I'm not driving in it. For the moment, things are calm and pretty and not even that cold.

These are dire times. The USA became a dictatorship, China is sick, Hong Kong's autonomy is still threatened, Australia is still on fire, and climate change is inevitable. Let's rest and enjoy the snow before climate change takes it away from us. We should recover our strength so we can continue the fight for our future.

Tissot T-Touch Expert Solar with World Order

Anime Hell once again delivered the Japanese weirdness at Ohayocon. I expected that 2016’s Japanese commercials would be just as good as 2015’s. The one that surprised me was a Tissot watch ad as a music video for the band World Order’s song World Order. I wish all my clocks could sync up like this band. This reminds me of OK Go.

Phonebloks

I like a good half-baked design every now and then, and this modular cell phone caught my eye. Each of my past few cell phones have met their end from just one component failing. With a Phonebloks phone, you could simply replace the bad component and be good as new. Motorola’s on board with this now, and I hope the project continues to gain traction. How about blocks for buttons and a D-pad?

Kevin Birrell – Ti Classic Grand Master

Tetris the Grand Master 3 has the subtitle “Terror-Instinct”. KevinDDR has become the sixth player in the world and the first outside Japan to tame this beast and earn the rank of Grand Master in Classic Master mode. Only the best players who can get to and and beat the invisible credits roll consistently earn the right be tested for Grand Master rank, and Kevin pulled it off under pressure. Congratulations!

I really should have posted this one last night. Kevin's a friend, and I should have realized that his run was on YouTube and could have been blogged about. Sorry about that. Click for the full-size image.
