A Fair Return
A comic I made for the ShortBox Patreon in 2020! So so proud of this one. You can see my other work HERE
You know, I still for the life of me cannot figure out why this was included in the story. Like okay, we know that Harry is supposed to be climbing the ranks in Millenion but. I’m fairly certain that marrying Sherry/Shelly wouldn’t have helped him any more than the recommendations from Randy and Bear Walken himself already had. Was it just to make sure Bear wouldn’t interfere with Harry’s plans later? I never felt like Harry and Sherry’s relationship felt genuine either. For the whole show since the two met I completely thought that Harry was totally disinterested in Sherry and just dated her to keep Bear Walken off his back. But when Sherry dies Harry is genuinely sad and. I was like oh he did care. I guess. Yeah, the whole thing overall rubbed me the wrong way.
They really did a good job in gungrave by making henrys general personality dislikable as fuck but it actually is insane that they had his grown as hell ass take a 13 year old girl out on a date and have a pretty much public relationship with said 13 year old girl and literally nobody did anything
the concept and idea of “you can always start trying to be a better person” is extremely important to me both in media and irl and i continue to be deeply deeply disturbed by the trend on this site pushing that these ideas in media are bad writing or even morally reprehensible
because theyd rather someone stay terrible or just straight up die than become a better person
from a compassionate point of view it’s deeply distressing and from a pragmatic point of view it’s outright frustrating
it’s fucked up.
My sister saw the cigarette scene and fucking Vulcan and Blood War’s reunion with the gun barrels and was like: Remember that movie subtext I told you about?
And I did.
happy yaoi day

I created this blog with the intention of adding my thoughts to this lovely series. Once again Yasuhiro Nightow tore out my heart right after I discovered Trigun. Even though Gungrave isn’t one of his more popular works I feel it still deserves some attention. While I admit that narratively Trigun still remains the more compelling of Nightow’s works (I haven’t seen Blood Blockade Battlefront yet please no spoilers) I loved Gungrave enough to buy the Dark Horse artbook! Ranging from stupid shitposts and analysis on both the games and anime adaptation, I would love to discuss this odd little gem with others so feel free to message me!
(However, I should add that my attention span and willingness to share my thoughts with others is a fickle thing so if I don’t respond to you please don’t take it personally. Interacting with people in any sort of capacity drains my social battery.)
Gungrave spoiler!! (I guess)
despite everything...
it's still you
Because I am normal about this series I decided to make an entire blog dedicated to it. Because I'm normal.
