A new design for my fundraiser, particularly good for stickers and shirts. As always EVERYTHING I RAISE is for my best friend, a Palestinian grad student living in America. The money is sent home to support his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the raids and economic devastation in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries.
The new work is found here. I have a handful of previous designs using some of these elements as well, including two with the same quote and a bunch with the same base art (an edited photograph of a keffiyeh with eyes from an old movie poster). For example:
Here are some examples of the art on various products (note you can also change the background color of the various shirts):
You can find all my designs in my shop HERE. To see a design on different products click on the display product and scroll down or go here to browse by design. I have tried to make a wide range of things in a wide range of different styles so there's something for everyone.
Thank you to everyone who has helped out so far! We greatly appreciate all the support.
Here's an older design from my fundraising shop and some history behind it (EVERYTHING I RAISE supports my best friend and his loved ones):
The Jaffa orange holds a lot of symbolism for the Palestinian struggle. This varietal of the fruit was developed in the 19th century and named for the city Jaffa, where it was first produced for export. It was a major export of the region until the industry declined under British rule and disruption from WWII. Finally the establishment of Israel caused irreparable damage as groves were seized or destroyed by settlers. Israel took over production on the seized land but never achieved the same success with the crop, and what remained of Palestine suffered ongoing violence and blockades preventing the industry from further success. The Jaffa orange has since remained a symbol of the Palestinian homeland, most famously in Ghassan Kanafani's short story The Land of Sad Oranges.
My design, an orange (from a vintage painting) with a Palestinian flag print on the leaf can be found here on shirts, stickers, mugs and more. This is one of my older works, from last November. EVERYTHING I EARN is for my best friend, a Palestinian grad student living in America. The money is sent home to support his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the raids and economic devastation in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries.

Thank you to everyone who has helped out so far! We greatly appreciate all the support and we hope you are enjoying your purchases.
The entire University of California (10 schools!) just called for an official UAW backed strike due to the Palestine protests! So proud of the tens of thousands of grad students putting their labor on the line for the cause.
In light of this I wanted to share the most relevant design from my fundraiser again, the sabo-tabby (aka black cat, wildcat, sab cat) with a keffiyeh. This is an old IWW symbol still commonly used for strikes and labor organizing today. I met the friend I am fundraising for through his labor activism (I started asking him too many questions and he recruited me to help haha). He is an incredibly clever and effective activist who has been involved in a lot of successful labor movements, and this symbol is very dear to him (as is the keffiyeh of course).
As usual ALL PROCEEDS from my shop are for this friend who is Palestinian. The extra income will help him support his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the raids and economic devastation in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. He will donate anything his family doesn't need to the Palestinian charities he works with.
Some product examples (this one is particularly nice for stickers I think):

I'm glad this design was approved in time for today. It's the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year. Candles have for obvious reasons been associated with this day in many traditions throughout history. They're also associated with mourning and vigil. As we celebrate our various winter traditions, let's remember the millions of people in Gaza now facing the darkest day of the year without light (or food, water and shelter). As you light your candles let them serve also as vigil for those we have lost and the horrors the living still face. Around the candle I placed poppies, olives and an orange, all symbols of Palestine, along with a scrap of paper with the Arabic name (فلسطين).
As usual, ALL PROCEEDS from this design are for my Palestinian best friend, to help his girlfriend afford to join him safely in America and to help his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. The West Bank violence has been hitting his family particularly hard.
You can find this design here. All designs found here (Redbubble will show you a random product, click on each to see more product options). I try to make stuff in a wide variety of styles so there's something for everyone.
Thank you to everyone who has helped out so far.
This design makes use of this open source photo from a photographer in Gaza. It can be found in my shop here.
As usual, ALL PROCEEDS from my designs are for my Palestinian best friend, to help him support his girlfriend in remaining safely in America until things calm down and to help his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. He will donate anything his family doesn't need to the Palestinian charities he works with (he's heavily involved in activism and I trust him to put the money where it will make the most difference).
I'm not really sure how a fundraiser like this should be considered under the strike, I'm going to keep sharing my stuff but I completely understand if you guys aren't going to be buying much this week.
My full shop can be found here. Each design is available on a lot of different products besides the default Redbubble shows you, click on each product or click on "explore designs" to see more options.

This orange with a Palestinian flag for a leaf can be found here on shirts, stickers, mugs and more. ALL PROCEEDS from Palestine related sales will go to my Palestinian best friend to help him bring his girlfriend over to America. Any left over will be used to help his other loved ones around the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. All designs available here.
Thank you so much to the three customers who bought stickers, a mug and a hoodie yesterday! You are very kind, your help is greatly appreciated.
I've made a bunch of poppy designs, but the Faqqua iris is the more official national flower of Palestine, I figured I should do something with it too. You can find the above design here.
As usual ALL PROCEEDS are for my Palestinian best friend, to take care of his loved ones. He will donate any his family doesn't need to the Palestinian charities he works with. He's hoping to donate most of it if possible, he always gives everything he can to those in need, which is really impressive because he has never had much for himself in his life. He's always the first person to buy food for the homeless people outside the cafe, or send a paycheck home to help his relatives, or bring food and supplies to a labor action. I currently have his nice coat because he put it on me when I was cold and told me to keep it (I'm going to wash it and give it back anyway, haha). Outside of a few sentimental possessions most of his stuff ends up being given away sooner or later to someone he thinks needs it more.
He felt weird about accepting this charity at first, I had to convince him to hold onto the money from this fundraiser for his own loved ones (some of whom are definitely in a really precarious position) rather than give it all away to charities immediately. He's so generous, even to his own detriment sometimes. You guys, I'm feeling really emotional today, I love him so fucking much. God I hope things get better soon.
Anyway, this design is kinda small so mostly for stickers but available on some other things too. Here are some examples:

Also to my fellow grad students, our department is currently working on making an easier path for grads to bow out of research they have a moral objection to, in addition to putting together a statement on Palestine. If you have a lot of colleagues on your side and particularly if you're in a program like engineering, physics, astronomy or applied math (with a lot of military applications) you should try to see where your funding is coming from and support grads in divesting from ethically questionable research. I won't say too much about what we're doing because I don't want to risk doxing my friend, but here are some examples of statements from grads at the Goldman School of Public Policy and the UCSC Astronomy Department. We (STEM students in particular) are the next generation of minds behind the military-industrial complex; let's make participation in the war machine unpopular.
Thank you to everyone who has participated in my fundraiser so far!
Thank you so much to whoever purchased a sticker with this design! It is my favorite so far as well.
ANY AND ALL PROCEEDS from Palestine related sales through my Redbubble shop will go to my Palestinian best friend to help him bring his girlfriend over to America. Any left over will be used to help his family/other loved ones affected by the war.

Edit: It's back
I just received notice that one of my most popular works, this dove, has been taken down for review. It should hopefully be back up by tomorrow, this was likely just triggered by my updating the product description. Every single work I've made related to Palestine has needed manual review at least once, it's default for "controversial" topics. In the mean time I have plenty of other designs in my shop here including a few variations on this one.
ALL PROCEEDS from my work are for my Palestinian best friend, to help him support his girlfriend in remaining in America until it's safe for her to travel back home and to help his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the raids and economic devastation in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. He will donate anything his family doesn't need to the Palestinian charities he works with.
Here are some examples of some of my other designs that should still be available:
Designs are available on shirts, stickers, bags, pins, notebooks and a bunch of other things. To see a design on other products click on the display product and scroll down or go here to browse by design. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far!

Making new art is starting to hit diminishing returns, so I am going to try to spend a little more time promoting my existing work. I will still be making new stuff, just a little slower. I currently have 168 designs, each available across a wide range of products. You can find my full shop here. To see a design on different products click on the display product and scroll down or go here to browse by design.
I started doing this around the end of October/start of November and I've improved a lot at design in this time. I deleted all my older art and my shop is now a full time fundraiser for my best friend, who is Palestinian and the sweetest person in the world. It has been heartbreaking watching him suffer, I am attempting to help provide a little financial security for his family at least. We are grad students so we don't earn very much (speaking of grad school, go protest! There are protests at so many universities right now, please join one!).
I honestly didn't expect this shop to get much response, I'd only had it a few months and I'd never sold a single product before I started making designs about Palestine. I'm super touched by all the support we have received. I know there are lots of bigger, more official and more important fundraisers out there, but this was all I could think to do for my friend while still protecting his privacy. I'm very grateful you all have given me the means help this wonderful person and I'm so happy to see people using my art to promote the cause further. Thank you!
When I asked my friend about birds from his home the first thing that came to mind for him was the bulbul.
This little guy is the white-spectacled bulbul, a medium-sized passerine described as "conspicuous and noisy". They're common around Palestine, my friend has many fond memories of them. I have just added this drawing of one holding a Palestinian flag to my shop.
As usual ALL PROCEEDS from this design will go to my Palestinian best friend to help him afford to bring his girlfriend over to America and to help his other loved ones around the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. You can find the design here printed on a lot of different products.
You can find all my designs here. Redbubble will display with a random product, click on it to see all product options (shirts, stickers, notebooks, etc).
Also funny story when I first looked up bulbuls my friend wasn't checking too closely what photo I had up on my phone and I spent a long time believing the red-whiskered bulbul was from Palestine (it's not, it's from south Asia). So much so that I actually drew the wrong bird at first. Oops. So, I probably won't sell this guy because he doesn't make a lot of sense as a symbol for Palestine (maybe I'll repurpose him into an unrelated design after the war) but here you go, solidarity for Palestine from this lovely little tropical frugivore:
Thank you so much to everyone who has helped out so far, I really appreciate you. My friend is hunting now for a new living space to accommodate his partner when she gets here. Housing as a grad student is always a nightmare, I'm so grateful that you all are helping with the deposit. My friend is also doing his best to figure out help for his family back home (a chaotic situation, just getting in contact with some relatives has been a mess so far). I'll try to add some updates as things progress (as usual, vague to protect their privacy).
Starving grad student running a small Redbubble shop (initially for side income, now for fundraising for my Palestinian friend). Made this blog to share my designs, found here: https://www.redbubble.com/people/fairiedance/shopMy best friend (an absolutely brilliant scientist and compassionate social activist, seriously the best person ever) is a Palestinian grad student studying in America, and a lot of his friends and family are being affected by the genocide in Gaza and the fallout in the West Bank and surrounding areas. I have started selling Palestine related designs in my shop. EVERYTHING I RAISE he sends to his loved ones to help in various ways as the situation progresses.Designs not related to Palestine have been removed from my shop for now (probably for good at this point).
