I hope you all have found your local protest to join Monday (10/7), we're coming up on a year of active genocide. I'd really like to thank everyone who has helped me support my best friend through this fundraiser. He feels really weird accepting help from anyone but as grad students we get paid like shit so the extra money for his family is extremely useful. I was worried (still am honestly given the escalation recently) that he was going to have to delay his PhD to work more hours to support them (he's had to do so before unfortunately, he's had to overcome so many challenges coming from a family of refugees). The kindness shown by complete strangers has been heartwarming. Things are looking very bleak right now but it is some comfort to know how many people out there are fighting for this cause alongside him. When things started up a year ago he felt so alone, the shift in public sentiment has been great to see.
These are some of the best selling designs from the fundraiser so far:
Here are a few sample products with these designs:
Stickers are generally the most popular products. Shirts and pins also make a lot of sales, but there are a ton of other options in the shop: notebooks, puzzles, magnets, mugs, bags, posters and plenty more. EVERYTHING I RAISE is for my best friend. The money is sent home to support his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the raids and economic devastation in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries.
You can find all my art in my shop HERE. To see a design on different products click on the display product and scroll down or go here to browse by design.
Thank you again for all the support!
One of the first times I spoke with my friend (the one I am fundraising for) about Palestine he spoke so passionately about how birds represent freedom to him, as they come and go over the walls at will. Israel has caused absolute devastation to Palestine's wildlife, cutting off migratory pathways for land animals and destroying habitats. Birds (though still hurt by habitat loss of course) can pass over the barriers. Watching them fly across the walls is a bittersweet thing for those trapped within them. The flight of birds has represented freedom to so many cultures, but there's a certain extra emotional poignancy that comes with the symbolism for people who are trapped by the same barriers that the birds traverse with ease.
Of course this is not the only reason I make so many bird designs, doves are a standard symbol for peace and I'm also absolutely obsessed with birds in general, but the way my friend told it was very touching and I wanted to share. My various bird designs have gotten a lot of attention the last few days, so I'll compile all my birds so far in one place here:
You can find all my designs here. Redbubble will show you a random product, click on it to see all product options (shirts, stickers, notebooks, etc). ALL PROCEEDS will go to my Palestinian best friend to help him afford to bring his girlfriend over to America and to help his other loved ones around the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries.
Edit: Redbubble appears to be fixing the problem, my designs are starting to reappear so I'm going to unpin this now. You can find my fundraising shop here.
I have no idea why two thirds of the designs in my shop are not appearing now. While I wait for Redbubble to respond to me here are links to some of my bestsellers that have mysteriously vanished from my homepage (still seem available you just can't find them through my store). ALL PROCEEDS as usual are to support my Palestinian best friend:
Dove in Keffiyeh
Cat in Keffiyeh de Graag Edit one and two
Cute Cat in Keffiyeh
Palestine Sunbirds one and two
Woodcut Style Keffiyeh Dove over Poppy
Simple Poppy Design
Woman with Keffiyeh and Key - Meunier Edit
Hopefully Redbubble will sort out whatever is happening soon. Thank you to everyone who has helped out so far!
Oh I'd also like to include this glitch art one which is pretty new but starting to get some sales:
I have a lot of other links throughout my Tumblr posts that should still work too.
I added the keffiyeh I drew for my dove design to this simple bird silhouette.
As usual, ALL PROCEEDS from this design are for my Palestinian best friend, to help his girlfriend afford to join him safely in America and to help his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries.
You can find this design here, available on shirts, stickers, pins, mugs, etc. All designs found here (Redbubble will show you a random product, click on each to see more product options).
Here are the original dove I drew and the Palestine sunbird I also drew that use the same keffiyeh:
Both drawings come in a few different varieties (colors, details), see the shop for all options.
Thank you to everyone who has helped out so far!
A teddy bear in a keffiyeh holding a poppy.
You can find this design here. All designs found here (Redbubble will show you a random product, click on each to see more product options). I accidentally made this guy a bit small so he's ideal for those looking for smaller products like pins, stickers and mugs.
A new sticker and pin for the fundraiser, featuring the Palestinian and Lebanese flags:
I think the sticker in size large would make a good size/shape for a bumper sticker. Also available on various other products, you can find them all here.
As always EVERYTHING I RAISE is for my best friend, a Palestinian grad student living in America. The money is sent home to support his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the raids and economic devastation in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries (at the moment displaced friends that his family in Lebanon are hosting need groceries and basic supplies, that is likely where this month's funds are going).
You can find all my art in my shop HERE. To see a design on different products click on the display product and scroll down or go here to browse by design. Here's a small sample of my other work:
Thank you to everyone who has helped out so far! We greatly appreciate all the support and we hope you are enjoying your purchases.
I put this on a bunch of shirts and stickers and stuff, I figure it'll be good for protests and campus activism. Found here. As usual ALL PROCEEDS are for my Palestinian best friend, to help take care of his loved ones. He'll donate any his family doesn't need to the charities he works with.
To my fellow grad students: this friend and I are working with our department on making it easier for grads to bow out of research they have a moral objection to. We're also working on putting together a statement on Palestine. If you have a lot of colleagues on your side and particularly if you're in a program like engineering, physics, astronomy or applied math (with a lot of military applications) you should try to see where your funding is coming from and support grads in divesting from ethically questionable research. I won't say too much about what we're doing because I don't want to risk doxing my friend, but here are some examples of statements from grads at the Goldman School of Public Policy and the UCSC Astronomy Department. We (STEM students in particular) are the next generation of minds behind the military-industrial complex. It's up to us to make it clear we will not be complicit in work that supports genocide.

Thank you to everyone who has helped out with my fundraiser so far!
I'm back! Turns out there was a weird glitch and my posts have been pretty much shadowbanned this past week. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed this past week and probably could not see my previous thank yous.
For those who haven't seen my posts yet, my best friend (the best person I have EVER known) is Palestinian, and a lot of his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. ALL PROCEEDS from these designs will go to helping his girlfriend afford to join him in America safely and helping his other loved ones weather the violence and financial hardship.
The new designs above (and a bunch more) can be found here. Available on stickers, shirts, pins, prints, etc (click on each to see more product options).
We're hopeful that the ceasefire will mitigate the harm being done to my friend's family going forward. He's already had some loved ones hurt that this money can help so for now I will continue the fundraising (plus we do not feel safe hoping that the ceasefire will last, unfortunately). For now his girlfriend has remained safe and financial planning for her trip here is going okay. Most of his immediate family is okay (extended family and friends not entirely so unfortunately). I will keep updates somewhat vague to protect their privacy. We greatly appreciate all your help!
These stickers are edited photos of the keffiyeh my best friend gave me soon after things started up back in October.
As usual, ALL PROCEEDS from this design are for this Palestinian friend, to help his girlfriend afford to join him safely in America and to help his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries.
You can buy this designs on various products (shirts, stickers, etc) here and here. All designs found here (Redbubble will show you a random product, click on each to see more product options).
I would also like to advertise this poppy and this keffiyeh wearing kitten again, since they have had really great sticker sales this week:
My friend is such a sweet person and it's been heartbreaking seeing him so constantly stressed out and sad these past couple of months. It's been really nice to be able to at least help with the financial burden. Thank you so much to everyone who has helped out so far!
This poem, If We Must Die by Claude McKay was written during the Red Summer, 1919. It has since been adopted to represent many groups facing persecution. I pair it here with a field of poppies and a faint keffiyeh pattern, emblematic of the Palestinian struggle. I may make a more elaborate version in the future, I have some ideas. For now, this is available on stickers, shirts, prints, etc.
As usual, ALL PROCEEDS from this are for my Palestinian best friend, to help his girlfriend afford to join him safely in America and to help his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. You can find this design here. All designs here. By the way you can change the color on the shirts if you don't like the white background.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed!
Starving grad student running a small Redbubble shop (initially for side income, now for fundraising for my Palestinian friend). Made this blog to share my designs, found here: https://www.redbubble.com/people/fairiedance/shopMy best friend (an absolutely brilliant scientist and compassionate social activist, seriously the best person ever) is a Palestinian grad student studying in America, and a lot of his friends and family are being affected by the genocide in Gaza and the fallout in the West Bank and surrounding areas. I have started selling Palestine related designs in my shop. EVERYTHING I RAISE he sends to his loved ones to help in various ways as the situation progresses.Designs not related to Palestine have been removed from my shop for now (probably for good at this point).
