as much as the concept of Jesus being a fairly normal lad has its charms, im personally very intrigued by the idea of him being just… extremely weird. not even in a mystical sense, just…….staggeringly BIZZARRE.
you go to the well to get some water, and here’s Miriam’s boy, staring at the sky, completely still. his expression is unreadable. you hazard a hello and ask how he’s doing, and he slowly, unblinkingly, lowers his gaze on you (he’s 8 and is missing his frontal teeth, not that this is making you any less uncomfortable) and says “I cannot speak of the state of my being, Nathan son of Saul, my brother, but rejoice for the water you shall take today will be as pure as the soul of the children of Heaven”
…you start sweating
reblogging bc it needs to be said
Tbh, the atomization of my generation is one of the saddest things ive ever seen. Like, to have a society at all requires individuals casting aside their own desires and needs and wants in order to support mutual survival. Different people with different morals and different belief systems coming together for something greater than themselves, whether that be the construction of a measly little building to provide shelter or a great city to protect their children, that's one of the best things about humanity in general (and let's be real humanity isn't the greatest). but its so sad to see my generation being raised with the idea that the individual is all that matters, because all that's going to come from it is a generation of self-interested, uncooperative, confused individuals. bc like it or not, men (meaning human beings in general) are not gods, and the simple fact that the only people we can can control are ourselves is proof enough of that. so to raise people with the idea that we are all fundementally gods only serves to make them confused when reality has its say and it turns out there's so much more than just themselves. nobody can have conversations, nobody can make sacrifices and the worst part is that nobody really believes in anything anymore just what serves them the best. and its all because we keep telling ourselves that we're the exception, we're the standard, we're the gods on earth and it just means that we're a generation of people yelling over each other, screaming "I'm special! I'm significant!" while everyone else screams the same about ourselves and the irony is, if more people focused on what unites us instead of what makes them different, more people would appreciate what makes each other significant, worth something but no we just scream into the uncaring darkess that our voice is all that matters and feel angry when our voice echoes back to us
Words alone cannot describe how feral I am for these images

OMG YOU JUST REKINDLED MY MUSE FOR G/T CONTENT THANK YOU SO MUCH
thinking about Orpheus and Eurydice but g/t and i can’t tell which is worse
giant Orpheus with tiny Eurydice. she’s so small, she’s hard to spot even when one does look for her. he’s always kept a careful eye, making sure she was safe and alright, so the idea of her walking in his footsteps out of sight is terrifying to them. every one of his steps is like twenty of hers, so he has to go so. agonizingly. slow. to make sure she can keep up. he can’t even sing, because he has to concentrate all of his hearing on the softest footsteps behind him.
alternatively, tiny Orpheus and giant Eurydice. he can hear every one of her steps, when she sighs, when a large teardrop splashes onto the ground. he has to be careful to stay in her sight, but far enough ahead that he has a comfortable distance from the booming steps. he stumbles through half of it with his eyes screwed shut, worried she’ll go a step too far and he’ll get a glimpse of her form. she always did consume his entire vision, something so giant and beautiful you can’t help but look, a deeply rooted instinct he has to fight off with his entire body.
ultimately it doesn’t matter which is more tragic.
he’ll look back at her either way.
I feel like normies think of tumblr as the fanart and aesthetic and gifset website but real tumblrinas know that our most culturally significant output and our lifeblood is the humble text post
I'm leaving for basic training tomorrow and it's just been this odd quiet sort of bittersweet. Like a sunset without the music. Singing happy birthday early bc i won't be in town when it rolls around was ridiculously sad, everyone started crying.
This isn't a particularly poetic or comedic post, just felt like it was something I should say while the emotions are still fresh.
My dad's in the bedroom trying to act like he's not about to cry, mom's not doing much better.
I'm not even nervous. Just a quiet, accepted sadness.
