Where Every Scroll is a New Adventure
So I have an abandoned WIP that I wrote roughly 17 thousand words for and I was looking in my notes doc for it the other day and found some . . . funny(?) stuff I thought I'd share. You'll probably know why it's abandoned if you make it to the end of this post.
So I pre-write my tags and notes. The notes I write during or after relevant chapters. So here are most of the non-relationship tags:
Graphic Depictions of Violence, F/M, Teen And Up Audiences, Hurt/Comfort, Angst with a Happy Ending, Whump, Heavily Implied Romance*, Torture, this got way darker than I was anticipating, No One Is Okay, And That Includes The Author, Preston and Priscilla Northwest's a+ parenting, Probably Medical Inaccuracies, I Tried Okay, the graphic violence warning only applies to a couple of chapters.
*The heavily implied romance tag was for Stan/Lazy Susan and Pacifica/Dipper
Here's the first note: Hi there! This is the story that’s been distracting me from my main one, Mindscaperers.* It’s a little different and I’d like to state right off the bat that <b>this story gets fairly dark and I will NOT be giving warnings for individual chapters, so MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE TAGS. </b> ** On a brighter note, this story is fully finished so you won’t have to randomly wait several weeks for the next chapter.*** I’ll try to post roughly two a week until I’m done. This is going to become a series, but this is the main plot. The other stories will probably be about side characters as well as the consequences of this first story.
*it was not the only thing distracting me from Mindscaperers. I was also reading a lot of fanfiction for fandoms I'm not even in.
**I said something similar in my recent Infinity Train story, We Only Broke The Train A Little Bit (More Than You).
***Past Me wishes. I ended up with like . . . five or six chapters. Maybe seven?
My notes get better - or worse, depending on how you look at it.
The end notes for chapter three are as follows:
me: shipping is weird
My brain: pff imply stuff so hard
Me: but they’re kids
My brain: pfffffff
Me: I can’t write Stan.
My brain: make him a major character
Me: no violence
Also me: let’s write the most descriptive violence I’ve ever written–WAIT NO THAT HASN’T HAPPENED YET
Let’s write a cute lighthearted story–AHHHHHHHHH never mind
And the penultimate and also best/worst note from the end of chapter four: Yes, they’re coping with being tortured by flirting with each other. Don’t judge me–them. Don’t judge them.
. . . and now we know why I abandoned this story.
But there's on more note! At the end of Chapter 5, I wrote about the fairy family I included in my story. (I'm going to write these fairies into a different story because I love them so much. But not this story.)
Here's the note: Zaelynn is the firstborn and Annabel is the 870th child. Also, sistren is an actual word.*
Pretty sure it's basically "brethren" but specifically for girls.
So yeah. That was . . . I'm honestly concerned about the me of 6-7 months ago.
