Where Every Scroll is a New Adventure
can someone kill this fucking twink
Obsessed with his fruity little poses
mini julian that can infodump by overlaying him on my notes
brain’s been rattling nonstop about how my favorite album duology was waiting for me to discover garashir, because it IS about them.
röyksopp (acclaimed & iconic norwegian electropop synth artists, my beloveds) put out an album in 2009 called “Junior”. it’s a delight. it’s bright and optimistic, it’s uptempo even when it’s sad or conflicted, there’s a deep sense of drive and a pull towards the future. the duo brings in like half a dozen collaborating artists on lead vocals (robyn! karin dreijer!) and the result is so profoundly vibrant.
this is the julian album. this is the julian-as-he-projects-himself-outwardly album. julian surrounded by friends and moving too fast to think twice about what’s happening internally. julian while he’s still young and golden and nothing’s crashed down around him.
then in 2010, röyksopp releases “Senior” as a direct counterpart to Junior. it’s their only all-instrumental no-vocals album, and the tone has shifted. Senior is downtempo and sparse, it’s ambient and contemplative and dissonant even if the melody stays uncannily warm.
the sense of deep sadness and isolation in these instrumental tracks is so on the nose for garak it’s a little wild. tracks with names like “the drug” and “the alcoholic”. the empty stretching synth pads of “a long, long way” sounds like what the station must’ve felt like the first night after every other cardassian left.
It’s not a strict binary ofc, shades of both are in both albums, but the contrast between youth and experience, between unabashed optimism and tired reticence….. it’s sustaining me.
please listen to these albums and tell me what you think please
personally i can’t believe we don’t bully julian more for OBVIOUSLY going thru a magic phase in high school
bashir: I like human mystery novels :/ The trouble with cardassian enigma tales is that they all end the same way, all the suspects are always guilty
garak: yes!! but the challenge is determining exactly who is guilty of what!
whys he so cute im going to squeeze him until he fuckegdn explodes
The only daxshir dynamic I accept
My brain every time I hear "Beshear".
sorry but bashir was really excited by the prospect of fucking his great-grandmother and becoming his own ancestor. he was all fired up defending his theory
I impressed myself on this one actually.
drama on DS9 after Martok publicly slaps Bashir's ass and Worf gets mad about it bcuz he doesn't think the doctor deserves "such high an honor"
Some people say Bashir is in the closet, in denial about his gay thoughts, but honestly given Star Trek is supposed to be set in a super progressive future then, (ignoring inevitable attitudes of the time it was written) I don't think he's in denial of his sexuality.
I think it's far more likely that he's on a Bajoran space station and is dealing with the sudden realisation that he is deeply attracted to suspicious morally ambiguous Cardassians.
our man bashir is also garak and the terrible horrible no good day. like he shows up clearly intending to fuck julian in the holosuite and immediately he has to put up with julian’s hot lady assistants being in his way. THEN his plans are further ruined by a transporter accident (ofc) that lets julian hit on not only kira but also dax. he is trying SO hard to be bond girl, elim gardick, and is thwarted at every turn. plus he gets punched in the face by someone who is not even julian. like his day literally only turns around when he gets shot in the neck.
Julian being hit by the brick wall that is that he wants the strange Cardassian tailor who is almost certainly a spy and is like, 10 years older than him. I don’t think that was on his Star Fleet bingo card when he signed up.
Beach vacay old men Bashir and Garak commission for Nat! An absolute blast to draw. But also while drawing I googled "nude Cardassian" and I should not have done that. One of life's many lessons.
