Fnaf Movie - Blog Posts

I think that given the release of the FNAF movie, I will tell the tale of my most memorable dream. For context, I was 10 at the time, undiagnosed asthma (this will matter later), and had been watching the games since Markiplier first played the game.

The dream started with being in a completely blank house, myself going through the doors and finding random items inside, closing them, and going to the next one. For some reason, if I found a FNAF animatronic, they would chase me, except for Foxy and Chica. I don’t know why those two, but they were also searching doors with me. I’m pretty sure I was supposed to be looking for an exit, but that part’s pretty blurry, since the next thing I remember was being outside on the path leading to one of those roads that game devs have when they don’t want to make a whole town. The ‘enemy’ animatronics weren’t chasing us, but we started running anyway. Then, I heard footsteps coming from behind me, and I think it was phantom Bonnie (the purple, really rare one) who I saw behind me. Cue more running, until I start to get tired. This is where I think my exemplary survival instincts come into play; my legs were beginning to get tired, and Chica and Foxy were running past me (because apparently they were also scared) so you know what I did? I stopped completely, turned around and was like ‘I’m tired, you can kill me now’. Phantom Bonnie began slowly walking towards me, but it was two steps away from me when I decided suddenly, ‘Oh! Actually, I don’t want to die’ and then started running again. Made it to the end of the road and then woke up.

No clue what the moral was.

Thanks for coming to my tedtalk.

Okay one funny thing I think about often is way back when.

When I was first getting into WH40K, the one "friend" who was trying to get me into it kept saying how "complicated the lore was" and "there's still alot we don't know"

So I got excited and dove in, and well, I won't say he was wrong, but.... I was a fnaf fan since the beginning of that franchise, and it's not even close.

Like, sure, I'm not arguing that 40k isn't complicated, but I think a more apt term would be it's very layered.

But FNAF level? Bitch please.

Cause the thing with 40k is sure there have been retcons and like some mystery. And if I had met this guy and i was getting into it way back in like 3rd/4th edition, sure. But I started getting into 40k around mid to late 9th edition(i think april 22 ish). When most of the story had been solidified.

But where 40k only gets more and more concise if not a little to much explanation. FNAF has and is currently only gotten worse at knowing the true story.

40k retcons were to clear up some older misconceptions/introduce new story routes but FNAF? Nope! Each rectcon somehow both validated and invalidated the previous loose ends.

But an even more glaring issue. The expansion into their other mediums.

40k is (for the most part) consistent across its books, games, tabletop, and movie/TV series

FNAF is completely different based on what medium you choose to consume. The games? Muddled lore, you spend hours picking out of the background audio while Freddy and friends try to eat u. And sometimes (not so much anymore), but u used to have to dig into the official Scott games website code to know context for certain things happening in/between the games.

The books? (Which ones?) The og trilogy followed a completely different protagonist and story(still good mind you total recommend) or the Fazbear Frights book series where it's more akin to "tales from the crypt" or a FNAF Goosebumps spin off. With some loose through lines. (Tales at the pizzaplex is included in this description)

The movie? Fuck you. completely rewrites the dynamic between the protagonist whose supposed to be the antagonists son and says fuck you to alot of the og compelling lore.( I still loved the movie don't get me wrong, the practical effects: lovely, the casting: perfect, the cinematography: very tight and well done. The story: dog shit)

I think the fundamental difference between the two franchises (besides age) is the creator(s) intent on making them.

On one hand you have one that's money grubbing and has a love hate relationship with their fanbase and the other is Scott Fucking Cawtthon. (And in light of not so recent events, fuck Scott)

Okay so I'm sitting here waiting for the wash on my mini to dray and I started thinking

(Aplogies to any non Fnaf fan followers, my old love once more resurfaces and is taking hold)

But I have to say the FNAF movie was kinda a B- (I know the most Luke warm take), but I have to tell someone this idea i had so ur all my victims.

The Movie, fantastic casting, literally couldn't have been better. The special effects? Phenomenal!! The fact they got Jim Henson company to help make the animitronics was a ture stroke of genius (I'm biased as I adore practical effects) but the writing? Eh.

I know that's not groundbreaking comitary/ nothing no one else had said. But, and I know I'm not the only one to think this, but this would have been a phenomenal TV show/ series.

A thriller series that follows the mad man Wiliam Afton himself (still played by Mathew Lilard) in a Dalmer/Breaking Bad/ Hanibal style.

Or we could follow Henry Emily and see from his point of view in an open secret cat and mouse game with William.

But also have a b plot that flashes to "the present" with grown-up Michael tracking down and cleaning up his father's messes. All in an attempt to save his brothers soul and stop both his dad and his sister.

I definitely want Elizabeth/Baby to be an over arching villain for Mike in the present, Think Sister location esque (season 1 - 2a)

Also, it'd be so fun to get someone who Matthew has really good chemistry with to play Henry Emily. Because you know, before all the child murder and burning alive, they were as close as could be (I always liked to think of them as platonic soul mates, or maybe more) but yeah maybe a 3-4 season show, though I could see it being a tight 2 seasons if written right.

Also, the same practical effects are absolutely nessasary, and I really need them to change the spring locks back to how they're described in cannon because that is way scarier than whatever the fuck the FNAF movie claw ribs have.

Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.
