Introduction Post

Hi! I'm Iris, I go by she/her pronouns.

I pretty much just created this blog for myself. It's a sort of 'scream out into the void and see if the void screams back' type thing.

From what I've been posting as of now, you can mostly just expect to see text posts about my perspective on life and my experiences, along with the occasional little piece of art or a fandom/meme reblog.

This is all just a sort of creative outlet, so I might be mentioning some heavy stuff about my life (gripes about the Healthcare system, my experiences with emotional abuse, general thoughts about the state of the world, that sort of stuff) so if you don't want to read that, this probably isn't the page for you.

My general interests include the Riordanverse and musical theatre, and that's basically it.

I feel the need to add something else to wrap up the post but I can't think of anything so I'm writing this filler so I can come back and edit when I think of a good ending (This might just be here forever)

Ok we gotta talk, As a creator on tumblr one thing iv noticed a pattern on my blog is that my freak fortress stuff or my Tf2 stuff gets more attention then the stuff I wanna post, I know I’m not posting but soon I wanna post my story which I promise will be released sometime in December or late October. I haven’t had much energy from school and personal issues and I know you guys like Tf2 but I really I don’t wanna keep posting that 24/7 so I’m making a freak fortress blog (again) just for that stuff, my Ocs and stuff will be posted here and stories as well! APPARENTLY this is something I need to state because it isn’t something people understand. If someone says for _____ to not interact and you fall into that category, don’t interact with them! It IS invading boundaries. It doesn’t matter if you think those boundaries make sense, they’re that person’s boundaries.

I’m not disabled because I’m not exercising enough. I’m not disabled because I’m not following that specific diet. I’m not disabled because I’m not spiritual enough. I’m not disabled because of my attitude. I’m not disabled because I’m too lazy to fix it. I’m not disabled because I don’t always make the healthiest choice. I’m disabled because real life isn’t fair and some people get unlucky.

When someone disagrees with you online and demands you prove your point to their satisfaction by writing a complete and logically sound defense including citations, you can save a lot of time by not doing that.

Actually horrified when under posts made by people with autism or other neurodivergent people who are proud of it and trying to spread awareness about its symptoms, people comment shit like “you’re obviously faking it because I have autism and I’m embarrassed about it, no one would actually expose themselves like this” like bro not everyone beats themselves over the head with self hatred??? And it’s not your business to spread that hatred to others???

It still frustrates me to this day that there are people on the Internet who will waste their time staring at a screen and laughing with their troll buddies about how “cringey” autistic people are, just for existing and talking about our experiences.

They take one look at autism blogs like mine, and their minds just go “lol autism funny XD lol r slur XD send death threats hahaha funny meme XDDD”. Because they’re ignorant and closed-minded about autism, and refuse to even try to see autism in the way we do.

Instead, they see us living our lives in our own, neurodivergent way, and think “they’re not like my stereotype, so they must be fakers, they think they’re so special and quirky, let’s troll them and send them threats”.

It’s obvious that these people have no personality other than “Internet troll” and “finds fun in harassing disabled people”.

this is straight up evil behaviour. whatever lighthearted tone this anon thought they were sending this with, i don't care. it's gross in every sense.

FANFICTION AUTHORS ARE HUMAN BEINGS. they have lives and jobs and school and things they struggle with. maybe they've even spoken publicly about their struggles in the hopes their readers would understand them a bit better because at the end of the day this is a community and they have every right to use this space however they fucking want to.

"don't start a fic you can't finish" - literally shut up. shut up! we are not paid to do this, i will start and not finish whatever the fuck i want.

and holy shit, anon. as if this message wasn't disgusting enough, please let me state plainly something you "desperately" need to hear: no robot can give you what a human writer can. and the fact that you even threatened to just go to AI at this point shows how little you care about storytellers and all they provide for you.

again, i don't care if every word of this message was sent in jest or meant to be read playfully. it's not fucking cute. this shit hurts writers and ya'll need to realize that.

if you take time out of your life to send messages like this, you're a bad person. period. this is not how fanfic works, it's not how the world works. if you can wait two-three years for a movie or a new season of your favourite tv show, you can wait a few months for a fanfic to update. or you can wait forever. we literally owe you nothing.

Hi, guys.

I know I’ve been sort of off the platform for a while but I’m here to tell everyone that this blog isn’t dead. I’ve been gone for three reasons:

Tumblr’s environment when it comes to its user base and platform has changed dramatically. What started as a fun little blogging site turned into a war zone full of political stuff popping up on my dash with the ongoing conflicts of the world (along with a good heap of antisemitism). I’ve only been catching up to mutual blogs every once in a while but it hasn’t been the same since a couple months ago.

I haven’t got a lot to post about lately and a lot happened over my winter break. Sure I posted a recent artwork of mine a bit of a while ago but then again it wasn’t consistent afterwards.

I’ve been cooking up a personal project of mine, well actually two in particular but I haven’t fully decided on what to start on first. But whatever it would be I do hope to post more of that consistently whenever it’s close to being fully done. I’ve been plotting it and connecting major events together and so far it’s been a puzzle. Overall I can’t wait to start updates if I manage to come around to it.

Anyway, just a blog update. I really do hope it gets better on here though but we’ll have to see when the tide gets steady again. In the meantime, I’ll just be preparing before I go back to school again.

I’m going to take a break for a bit on Tumblr and social media…
