Where Every Scroll is a New Adventure
im being so real:
i think pronto abandoned the mole king business because his brother was supposed to be king and he was free to do anything he wanted but then his brother died (why will shane knew "pinto" and not "pronto" - duh, pinto had to be important to mole society) and he had to take the crown...but from mourning and hating the job he ran away.
Speaking of moleniod is it weird we still haven’t seen pronto twin brother like at all? Like he was mentioned but that was about it, no photo or flashbacks, nothing of the source.
I feel like if the show had kept on going we would have seen something right?
I think so?
Personally, I think it's funny when characters drop info like having a twin, and it's never explained further or played out like a massive gag, lol
My personal crack theory is that Sedo is actually Prontos twin, but Pronto refuses to call him his brother in public and that Sedo isn't even Sedo's real name, its like, Armando or some shit but he changed it for whatever reason.
Pronto acknowledges and tells people he has a twin brother but never says it's Sedo. Sibling rivalries, am I right?
Is all seriousness had the show continued they could have shoe horned Prontos Twin as a one-time character and never bring him up again.
It would be chaos for the Gang because 'Dear Shadows- there's now two of them'
All in all, the creators had a setup for a plethora of fun stuff they could have done, like the Twin being evil, or chill, or hell a better tracker than Pronto causing some jealousy and leading to a fun little lesson about being good enough as is or something along those lines.
I wrote this in about 24 hours.
i scare myself sometimes.
ch1 is Twist x Eli, ch2 will be Junjie x Eli. Eli is very aspec. Twist is very morally fragile. i cried twice writing this. i forgot to eat. i couldn't sleep.
so yeah chapter 2 will come out...at some point. Enjoy!
I'm a tad apologist. I love the HELL out of Tad being Blakk's kid because a)it adds some damn horrifying context to will Shane and Blakk's history (how he know about the surface, was he up there???) and b) It thematically makes the blakk family feel like a threat to the Shane LEGACY, not just to two Shane's of 2 eras. let's be so honest - Tad just needed more time. Like, imaging if the show ended after ghoul from beyond? We'd all have much of the same complaints about Junjie and the eastern caverns, knowing little about them as they effect everything of the lore we've learned up till that point. But then they spend some wonderful 30+ eps on the topic and hey, Junjie is now everyone's wife. So...
yeah I think if they had more time, we would've gotten so much of the surface talk, and it would have pushed Eli's character by miles.
It’s so strange to think that like…on an inherent level Tad and Eli would understand each other better than anyone else in slugterra regardless of their surface experiences or whether they like each other. I know they’re probably from the same area, but even in the off chance/AU where they aren’t, large cultural phenomena are going to be shared (e.g. memes, movies, tv shows, music, pop culture in general) as well as general information (I kinda headcannon that things like the age of the earth are unknown/miscalculated just because they don’t have rocks from 4 billion years ago to date, they don’t have fossils from the Cambrian explosion etc. You can know everything about gravity and light and physics but know nothing about biology just because it’s more physical evidence based than mathematical recreation) and finally shared experiences (similar school systems, being allowed to do x at y age etc).
I know a lot of the fandom don’t like tad for various reasons, but there’s so much to work with in terms of Eli finally having someone he can just say shit like “do you think the king of sling would like Elvis music?” And just be UNDERSTOOD. Being understood would probably heal something in Eli’s soul because he just hasn’t had that in YEARS. The gang are nice and well meaning, but the whole slugmas episode made it really clear they don’t share the same culture or experiences as Eli, on some level, they genuinely can’t understand or relate to him because of that. They’re his friends, they’re his family, but they’re not the same.
Idk man, something about the one person who could truly know you on a level others can’t just does something to me
I don't think it's strange at all. In fact, it adds a strange, yet sad, i wana say charm? When you go back as re-watch the show with this kind of context and mindset.
Eli, to us, acts rather normal and makes references to things we get on occasion, but compared to everyone else in cannon, it's weird and doesn't make sense.
There has been more than one occasion in the early episodes when Eli says something the others give him an odd look. For instance, Eli mentioned Halloween in DeadWeed, and because Slugterra doesn't have a Halloween/anything equal to it, it's a weird thing to say, and Eli has to lie about it.
For an entire year, even after telling the Gang about the Surface, Eli Shane basically has to keep a part of himself locked away. Sure he can talk to the rest of the team about his home up top, but it's not the same as actually talking to someone about something familiar.
Slugterra may be his home now, but it will never change the fact he used to belong topside, and that try as he might, there are going to be things he misses.
So when Tad comes along, it's not just a new friend, or member, it's a connection to a world he cut himself off from. And Eli is so excited by notion of having someone to talk to, that he can relate to on a more personal level. Talk about holidays, sports, video games ect-
But a sad fact to that is that Eli has been gone a year, which means Tad is going to bring up things he had no idea even happen in the year he's been in Slugterra.
So, while it's awesome to talk to someone who can truly understand you, it doesn't change the fact that there is a disparage in common information or even interests, for that matter!
A lot can happen in 12 months. And while people can live on the same block, they experience things differently.
It doesn't change the fact that Eli is genuinely happy to have Tad around and a part of the gang because he gets to talk to someone like him and share his experiences. Form a different kind of bond.
This is why it probably hurts even more when Tad betrayed the Shane Gang when compared to Twist.
...it took 11k words to introduce junjie into the juneli fanfic....
shanes get hurt's next chapter keeps feeling overwhelming, so im writing a long one-shot next to it. and i genuinely think this one will be done before shanes get hurt.
on the bright side, i finally get to do something ive never truly done in any of my stories:
explore twist's character.
strap in, folks. im writing a past-twist/eli, current eli/junjie fic, and since i don't feel the perfectionist urge w it nearly as much as SGH, its gonna be out...soon...
i'm not writing this exact scene, but i am writing something very similar.
...lowkey, ive been writing for 12 hours straight....
Going back to the questions that tad and twist are in how much you want to bet that when junjies comes to visit and brings his master with him ( to see the western part) twist instantly gets ptsd just from seeing her?
Yes
Twist is not okay he has not been okay, and seeing Junjie's Master, Lian is not helping him.
Obviously, he knows they are different people, but they look alike. And for the entire visit, Twist can't look Lian in the eyes and does not want to be left alone in a room with her.
He needs therapy so badly
Eventually, I think he gets cornered and has a mini breakdown about his part in what happened to Unbeatable Master Shanai and his overall guilt.

a distant shore is such a good episode GOD
and actually, does this help explain Pronto's weird actions in slugfu showdown? Maybe the Shane gangs gotten used to just BLASTING their actual activities/unnecessary noise on the slugnet to cover for any burning world catastrophes that, when they got the elementals, pronto was like "why should we keep this a secret??? it'll confuse people, maybe they'll start to think the shane secrets were about the elementals??? I was throwing them off!" And like, still not the smartest, but a better explanation!!!
Do you think after the events of a distant shore that the Shane gang developed a shared excuse for what the Shane secret is? Like in case they ever get put in another Gar situation, they all have a shared lie that the bad guy ™️ can cross reference separately between them and get the same story
E.g . They’ve all decided that the fake Shane secret is that there’s a secret 100’th cavern and the only way to get there is with a shadowclan escort (explains why will had that shadowclan stuff and where the Shanes disappear to)
Considering how Eli was acting and the fact Gar more then likely spilled the Journal belonged to Jimmo Shane, yeah, they probably came up with a fake Shane Secret to cover for the real one as a just in case measure.
Granted the majority of Gar's highered help turned on him the moment Eli destroyed the Journal, it doesn't erase the fact a Shane went out of their way to stop whatever Gar was doing, steal something of value and then burn it to ash to prevent others from reading it.
Let alone the fact that something of value being the Journal of a former Shane, and possibly containing the answers to anything about Slugterra or the Shane family.
No doubt Gar posted, and is still posting what he knows on the SlugNet, and other Burning World truthers as well. And this isn't covering the potential in universe crack theory that spawned from Elis actions in A Distant Shore that the Shane's have a connection to the Burning World because why else would a Shane risk everything like that if it wasn't important?
The gang going out of their way to cover it up further and make fake leads is a real possibility.
They would want to create as much doubt and spread as much false information they can in the aftermath of something like that. Maybe even make a few fake accounts and post nonsense on speculation sights to throw ppl off.
one of my fav things to thing about is why the Shane's were entrusted w the surface knowledge. Like I have a bunch of theories, many of which I will write on ao3...eventually.
the Shane's could've done what Yang did, only in the context of native Americans/settlers in the new world who needed to escape the surface for whatever reason. The Shane's could have used to be kinda evil, using surface knowledge to give themselves money and power and keep a hold of Slugterra, till one generation decided to be heroes instead. Maybe the portals were used and the worlds knew of each other, but then some big war w the SC and dark bane closed off all their hope of conscious peace, so the shadow clan allowed only the families they trusted to know and keep track of everything and foil any plans of integration. And MAYBE, this is why the shadow clan and master shanai don't exactly worship the shame name; they consciously make Eli prove his worth of being a shane that can do that, and will choose others if necessary. But yeah, they separated a looooooong time ago.
but the cool things is that we're playing with THOUSANDS OF YEARS of history. All THREE can be canon. Maybe the Edwardian Shane's fucking sucked and killed people. Maybe the Shane's during the colonial era saw native Americans and woman prosecuted and were like "bro u wanna run away? we can help!". ....you know what just happened, w me writing this out? If the Shane family has been strictly blood relations and Eli's fam goes back 2k years, Eli has to be Native American.
wAIT MAYBE THATS WHY THE SHANES SUPER CLOSED OFF THE SURFACE, LIKE THEY SAW PPL GETTING REALLY SICK 1400S ONWARD AND THEY DIDNT WANT A PLAGUE OF MEASLES TO TAKE OUT SLUGTERRA. okay this took a turn.
what is this reblog I'm so sorry
Is there any sort of fannon (or even better, cannon) timescale for slugterra? Everyone in the 99 seems to have genuinely forgotten what the surface is like, which would take a while. There are irl stories that use constellations that mention stars that don’t exist anymore, stars have died before we forgot. Not to mention the weirdly accurate visuals Gar had of surface cities. So does anyone know when the 99 caverns officially got “cut off” from the surface?
Was it a really really ancient separation that’s only been blurred once the Shane’s went down (or came up??? Idk) hence Gar’s accurate poster visuals? Like the “first Shane” just blabbed cause they didn’t realise that mixing the two worlds could be harmful? And their ancestors have just been eternally doing PR cleanup? Or was it a recent cut off that people have forgotten super fast somehow??
Trixie mentions in 'A Distant Shore' that her mom used to tell her stories about the 'Burning World'
ive always been under the impression that all myths and stories hold some truth to them, but over time the details get exaggerated, lost or changed to fit a given narrative the story teller wants to tell.
so while im not 100% sure about cannon info on the timeline of the Caverns and Surface being separated, I would bet it had something to do with the Terra Portals, Shadow Clan and the Dark Bane.
If the Surface and Slugterra interacted, there would be old text's, but because it's in an old language no one speaks and the art left over would be vague as hell, and there have probably been hundreds of artistic interoperations of what the Burning World might look like over the years, so the illustrations Gar has are probably his, and where most likely influenced by the pictures in Jimmo's journal depending on when he got it.
As for the Shane's, I think there one of a handful of people who know the full truth, and shared the story in full for generations.
this is a personal HC, but-
I think there was a war of some kind involving the people of Slugterra/Surface, the Shadow Clan and Dark Bane, hundreds of years ago, one that separated the Eastern and Western Caverns(Possibly a Northern and Southern Caverns as well), and caused the Terra Portals to become largely inactive for the most part, and in the aftermath the Surface and Caverns where left separated, but before contact was fully cut the Shadow Clan entrusted seiten people with the knowledge of how to get back underground because of what they did during the war to protect Slugterra, the Shane's being one of those families. over the years, more and more families forgot, or died out, leaving the Shane's one of the very few and possibly only ones that take the drop and still protect the Caverns all theses' hundreds of years later
again, pure headcannon with no real evidence
its a crazy rabbit whole to go down, and I would like to hear others thoughts on it from the community!
YALL WE'RE FINALLY GETTING RECOGNIZED
also u forgot anti-species supremacist but i more than forgive you, thank you please join the slugterra tumblr discourse you have my endorsement. please, i need your opinion on will shane op!
I was a fan of this show called Slugterra, and rewatched it recently. And it was to my great pleasure to find this Canadian TV show in 2012 about shooting elemental slugs was basically a heavily enviromentalist anarcho-communist propaganda piece that took a stance against AI, the legal system, animal cruelty, imperialism, and the sports/car/oil industry.
