Seeing ppl lump non-humans in with their blatantly racist / ableist "identities" as if they're even remotely comparable will never cease to disgust me

Nonhumans are here, even if you do not see us. We always will be. We are often hard to spot, but can be found doing all the things a human might.

A cat went to work at an event stall for a mental health service.

A massive sea serpent wanted to go to science class because it enjoyed it more than the rest of those living in its shared form.

The void sat down, huddled up in a blanket, to watch a tv show with its partners. It had to stop watching after a bit, but enjoyed spending time with those close to it anyway.

A wolf went to a psychologist appointment and gratefully drank the hot chocolate they were offered in the waiting room.

A shapeshifting being of pure darkness spoke publicly about trans rights in front of politicians and then went to the pride festival he helped fight to keep alive.

A dragon went to school so the others sharing his human body could have a break.

A manifestation of the fear of madness itself sat in the food court at the mall eating mochi and drinking tea while waiting for its friends to get back from shopping.

A witch drew a picture of his cardinal bird and shared the work he was so proud of with his friends.

A cockatoo borrowed the next book in his favourite series from the school library and almost couldn't wait the whole day to go home and read it.

An alien went camping and watched the birds outside and the way the wind made waves and patterns on the water.

A fallen angel went shopping for sunglasses to shield his eyes from how bright the sun was.

A harpy went shopping for new plants to look after. He named a few because he loved them so much, and sent pictures to all of his friends.

An anthropomorphic hedgehog traded Pokemon cards with his peers at school. He was happy with his collection.

You may not see us, and you may feel alone, but you are not. We are just hidden. We are in more places than you'd think, and in the places you'd least expect. We are complex, we are valued, and we are here.

I hope the universe would be kind once more

I wish ppl talked more often abt how therianthropy/non-humanity can potentially impact your entire life. I dont just mean having to deal with smaller scale things like daily shifts or species dysphoria (although those can also definitely have long term impacts), I mean like how it can very literally change the trajectory of your life.

Because of my wildebeest theriotype, I have an extremely strong desire to live a nomadic lifestyle, and I 1000% plan to do so as soon as I know how to do it safely/get the money. I will likely never be fully content staying in any one place for a long period of time, I will always seek out drastic and extended types of traveling, which is gonna really impact me down the line given the current structure of human society.

Nonhuman Symbol

This is my proposal for a nonhuman symbol; for people who identify as nonhuman in any sense. I couldn't personally decide which version I preferred, with the outer circle on the end or linked with the diamond, so I went with both.

The symbol is meant to represent many varieties of nonhumanity, and include different experiences and communities within it:

The outermost circle represents nonhumanity as a whole- the broad nonhuman community in which anyone can be included, and one's personal experiences with nonhumanity.

The inner circle with a dot represents those with psychological experiences of some kind, as it resembles the disability sun. Not just those with psychological origins- it is for anyone with psychological experiences, or something similar.

The two lines protruding out represent external experiences, such as spiritual, metaphysical, or otherwise outside experiences. This, too, represents anyone with these experiences, not just someone's origins.

The diamond represents multiple things: It can represent one's body, whether it be their physical one or otherwise, it can represent one's personhood and sense of nonhuman identity, and it can represent those who feel a desire to have a nonhuman body / nonhuman body parts, those who already have them (such as in headspace), those who have phantom limbs or otherwise, and so on. It is also a vague homage to the term aldernic.

Anybody who considers themself nonhuman, regardless of why they are nonhuman or in what way, may use this symbol for what they'd like. This includes subterms, such as ahuman.

Humans are born wanderers. Don't tell me you don't wanna veer sharp left off this trail and get lost for 30 days. I fucking know you do, deep down. You love it.

I had a super vivid dream last night about Wolfbloods/being a Wolfblood and it's been making me ridiculously dysphoric all day.

Honestly, the worst part isn't even my lack of non-human biology or physical traits. Yes it hurts not having my paws and my tail and not being able to shift under the full moon, don't get me wrong that causes plenty of dysphoria on its own.

But the worst part for me is knowing that if Wolfblood's were actually real they'd most likely look down on me and see me as some kind of fanatical poser, rather than one of them. Idk why it bothers me so much, they're not real so it shouldn't matter. But it really does get under my skin. I hate that I'd have no way to truly prove that I'm like them, if at the very least on the inside.

And maybe I'd feel better if I was able to study and learn more about Wolfbloods and their culture, get a sense of what it's like to actually live as one. But there's so little canonical information about what Wolfblood society is like, their history, their customs. Anything that is explicitly stated or shown in the show tends to be vague or brief, so Im just kind of left trying to piece together a puzzle that's missing most of its parts. It almost feels like Im the last of a species in a way, picking through the ruins of what others left behind. It just saddens me to know how utterly disconnected I am from where I feel like I belong and that there's nothing I can do about it. There's a scene in season 2 (i think) where a character loses her nonhuman abilities, and she longingly watches from a hillside as her pack shifts under the full moon while she's forced to remain in her human form, and every time I watch it I cant help but see myself in it on such an intense level.

Idk do any other otherkin/fictionkin ever feel like this? Does anyone have recommendations for how to cope with it, or more specifically if there's any more extensive Wolfblood lore out there somewhere?

The whole idea that forcing shifts is bad and something you shouldn't do really irks me ngl. Like yeah, if you're using it as a way to determine kintypes that's definitely not the best route to go down, but with already confirmed kintypes idk what everyone's issue is. Personally, I don't get shifts of any kind too often, so by forcing them, specifically in the case of phantom shifts, I'm able to relieve some of my species dysphoria that I may not otherwise have an outlet for. If anything, I think actively trying to get yourself to shift rather than passively waiting for one to happen (not that there's anything wrong with that) is further proof of your desire to be connected to your nonhumanity.
