No one in Mondstadt has ever known that Diluc- the cold and expressionless man- had a surviving family and for a reason; they live all the way at the hydro region, Fontaine, and the last visit was at least more than 10 years ago.
Diluc had been exchanging letters with them throughout the years though and although not completely knowing each little secret of the other's, family blood is what made the two stay put in each other's heart.
-
The sound of hooves trotting was getting louder from the distance and servants of Master Diluc looked up from their works in curiosity. The carriage was intricately designed- from the shape to its little silver linings- but foreign to what Mondstadt know as carriage.
Other than the coachman, a man stepped out from the carriage. He was well dressed in foreign clothing. But, instead of walking up to any of the servants, he waited at the side. Was there someone in there?
Just as the thought passed through each servants, another came out of the carriage. This one was dressed much fancier than the man and everyone could tell that they were of that in higher status than they were.
The mysterious person looked around before their gem-like eyes landed on the servants. They approached them calmly but the servants were on edge.
"Where is Diluc?" were the first words the person had asked. The person were looking at each other before a maid had spoken up-- most likely the head maid since their clothing was a tad different than the others.
"I'm sorry, but Master Diluc is out today," she answered. Her form was strict and firm, confirming that she was the head maid.
"So, where is he?" they asked once more. The head maid was confused, had this person not understood what she said? "He may not be here, yes, but I'm sure you know where he is."
The head maid was hesitant but comply to answer, "He is in the city as of now. If you so wish, I will inform Master Diluc that a person was looking for them."
"Eh? Really? Then I guess I'll wait here.." The head maid noted that this person was not someone to anger-- oh how she is praying to the Anemo Archon for her master to hurry. "Then would you like--.."
"What's going on here?" A familiar voice lifted the invisible weight of the maid. "Master Diluc, this person is looking for you."
"Hm? An uninvited guest? Well, sorry to inform you this, but I'm not meeting with anyone today. Please come again another time," Diluc said sternly.
The person was silent which confused Diluc. Then, "Are you really going to say that to me?" the person said and turned around with a grin. "Long time no see, Diluc."
"(Y-Y/N)? What are you doing here? I was not informed of your arrival," Diluc says with wide eyes of surprise.
"Hm? I'm sure I've mentioned it in the last letter.." you put a finger over your mouth, thinking about the last letter. "Oh, I must've forgotten, whoopsies." You stick out your tongue and lightly knock your head.
Diluc sighs and had ordered a couple servants to prepare a room for you. "I'm assuming you'd be staying for a while," he says and looks at you.
You nodded happily. "How have you been?" you say and walk beside him, looking at him from the corner of your eyes. "Okay. How about you?" You looked away from him and answered that you have been good as well, but just that there were things going on in Fontaine that made you travel all the way to Mondstadt. "Oh, you told me about the traveller in one of your letters-- are they still in Mondstadt?" you ask excitedly.
"They had left a couple of weeks ago. I believe they are in Liyue as of now," he answered which made you a bit sad. Being a vision user of hydro, you were curious how someone could have obtain an element without one.
"It's been a long travel, I assume," Diluc says as soon as you both got to the foot of what will be your room. "You rest well."
You nod. "Will you be free tomorrow? I want to go see the city with you," you say. "I'm afraid that I can't accompany you tomorrow but I'll have someone guide you throughout the city."
"Thank you, but I'll be fine with Ronan," you said to witch he nods and excused himself so you can rest.
-
"So, this is Mondstadt!?" You gazed around with an obvious awe. It had been so long that you had forgotten what it looked like. The wind blow pass gently and the atmosphere was very lively.
You roamed the place and caused many to look at you oddly but you were too busy running around to notice-- except your butler, who is having a hard time trying to catch up with you.
"Ronan, hurry up! We don't have all day." You turned to look at the old man with excitement. "I'm sorry for delaying you," Ronan says and caught up to you. Ronan had never seen you so excited before and he had guessed it was because you had finally gotten away from the mess at Fontaine. But, he was happy as well since he had never seen his master so free.
After hours of roaming, you finally gotten tired and wanted to grab lunch. You sat down outside of some restuarant and told Ronan to order food for you. "Um, you want me to order the whole menu? Are you sure?" Ronan asks, sweat dropping. You nodded and told him that you wanted to try all of Mondstadt's foods. Ronan excused himself from your presence and went to order.
You looked around and found the fourth bard today. "Mondstadt has a lot of bards.." you say to no one in particular. You were thinking of bringing one home to Fontaine, but you want the best bard.
"Agreed. Are you thinking of bringing one home?" An unfamiliar voice spooked you from behind and you looked over your shoulder to see a man with an eyepatch. His hair was a long blue that was tied and wore fur as a decoration on his shoulder. But, what got you curious was his eye.
"Um, who are you?" you ask, eyes following his every movement to him sitting down in front of you. "Kaeya," he answers, crossing his legs and arms. "I've heard that a foreigner has been running around today. Might that be you?"
"I guess? How often does Mondstadt have travellers coming?" you ask in pure curiosity. Kaeya chuckles. "Often, but mostly for the wine here," he answers and put his face on the back of his hands, leaning closer to you. "So, where did you come from?"
"From Fontaine," you answered. "Oh? That's quite the travel then. What made you come all the way to Mondstadt? Surely it isn't because of the wine," he asks, a light flickering pass his eye.
"You're right. I came here to visit my cousin." Just the thought of Diluc made you smile. "But he's busy today so I came to look for myself."
Ronan soon came back to your side. "Sorry for the wait, they had said that they will bring it over shortly," he said and you nodded. "Um, sorry for my rudeness, but may I ask who this man is?" Ronan looks at Kaeya.
"Oh, I don't know who he is either. He introduced himself as Kaeya," you said. Ronan pinched the bridge of his nose, sighing. This occurred quite often back in Fontaine; someone random just casually walks and chats with you in public. Ronan warned you not to talk to other that is irrelevant but you don't listen. "It's fine. I think he's a nice person," you say and turned around to talk to Kaeya.
"Oh~ so it seems that you're someone not to be messed with," Kaeya said, eyeing Ronan. Ronan- despite his age- can fight as if he was in his prime life and Kaeya could see that. You two chatted throughout your lunch and parted not long after. When the two of you did, it was only then that Kaeya noticed that he hadn't gotten your name.
-
It was the second day of you touring Mondstadt and getting odd eyes from people. This time, you went near the cathedral to hear a certain bard sing. "Ronan, Ronan! Look, at that bard." You pull on your butler's sleeves repeatedly. "Yes, I am looking," Ronan said, tired at this point.
"Ah, just the person I was hoping to run into," a voice from the distance spoke and you and Ronan turned to your left to see Kaeya. "Mister Kaeya, hello!" you greeted enthusiastically.
"Are you interested in the bard?" he asks as he faced the short bard in green. "Yeah, I think he's way better than the other ones I've heard so far, even though it's a first that I've heard bards sing."
Kaeya stood silent for a while as if he was thinking of something. Then, "It's about lunch time, is it not? Want to grab a bite with me? There's a place that you probably haven't went to yet that serves good local food," Kaeya said to which you hurriedly nod your head.
When you got there, the smell was so strong that it made your stomach growl. "Haha, and here I thought that the food you ordered yesterday was enough for a week," Kaeya laughs. He ordered a couple of Mondstadt's most served food and both of you went to find a seat.
You chatted about the most randomness of things and also about you and the place you grew up in. It was quite the company, you admit. It would truly be sad if you left to go home anytime soon.
-
You had gotten to know Kaeya quite well throughout the two weeks you had spent with him and even consider him a friend. He was secretive at times which makes you question him but never pushed that thought.
"Ronan, I am your master, so you must obey me," you said and cross your arm. Ronan had pushed you to finally go home but you outright refused before he finished saying anything.
"Yes, I apologize for angering you," he said, putting a hand over his heart and bowing deeply. You had come to love Mondstadt and Ronan feared that you will never go home and stay with Kaeya thus was making a fuss of returning home to Fontaine, albeit he was happy that you finally get to rest from the chaos in Fontaine.
"You're forgiven. Now, let's go find Kaeya!" You walked away in your normal, speedy walk, excited to see Kaeya. After a while of searching, you couldn't find him anywhere in the usual spots. "Ronan, did Mister Kaeya say that he'd be somewhere today?"
"He did not. Perhaps he's busy today," answered Ronan which disappointed you. "Well, I guess we'll have to go bother Diluc today.." And that's what you did for today. When Diluc said that he'd take a day off for you at some point, you declined, saying that you were okay and that you met a person to company you while he was off at work, but now that Kaeya was not around, you thought that it was time to take him up on his word.
It wasn't until tomorrow that you finally got to meet up with Kaeya who excused himself as he was out on a short-notice mission.
"Did you miss me that much?" he asks, chuckling a bit. You nodded. "Yeah, I did. But, don't worry about yesterday; I still had my share of fun," you said in earnest. Kaeya was a bit caught off guard with how honest you had spoken but soon regained the smirk that everyone knows, and is either in love with or scared of. "My, you are quite honest," Kaeya points out. "You should be careful, (Y/N)."
"Hm? I'm not following you, Mister Kaeya," you said, "But if you mean that I can't handle myself, I'm a vision user as well so I can defend myself." You show him a determined fist and fiery eyes. Kaeya chuckles at your silly gesture. "That's not what I meant and could you drop the mister? Don't you think we can consider ourselves friends?" he says.
"Friends..?" The word you've heard multiple times out of other people's mouth, yet still foreign to you that Kaeya can practically see your gears churn inside your head. Then, "I've never had friends so will you be my first friend?" you ask. Kaeya smiles and reaches an arm across the table and ruffles your hair. "I'd love to."

"So, you're a consultant from the Wangshen Funeral Parlour?" you ask, taking the cup of tea and bringing it close your lips before taking a sip, eyes glued on the man before you.
A relationship was quickly built between you two after many encounters since meeting in the field of glaze lilies. And now, there you two sat, in some restaurant, enjoying tea as the sun's warmth bathe your skin.
"Yes, what about you, my dear?" Zhongli asks. You put down the cup and scratched your cheek, averting your gaze from the man. "Ah.. Well.. It's nothing worth of noting.." you mumbled. "I'm just a humble assistant for the Tianquan."
"Oh? Then you should be more proud of that," Zhongli said. "O-oh, I am, trust me! I love Lady Ningguang with all my heart. She is a wonderful person," you waved your arms in front as you praised the woman.
You sigh and dropped your arms onto your lap, a small smile tugging your lips at the thought of the Tianquan. "Actually, the Lady herself came to me and told be that I should work for her. I accepted because I didn't have work. But now, I don't think I'm cut out to be her assistant."
Zhongli huffs a small smile of his own. "Tell me, how long have you been working as an assistant?" he asks, bringing his cup close to his lips. You pondered at the question. "I guess almost a year now."
"The Tianquan has a keen eye when it comes to scouting and there is no doubt that she saw something in you " he states, placing the cup down before continuing. "If you praise the Tianquan as much as you do right now, then you must believe in her just the same."
"Ah.. You're right about that." The corner of your lips tugs itself more, showing a brighter smile. "Thank you, Mr. Zhongli."
"Please, just call me Zhongli. There is no need for formalities now that we are this close," he points.
"A, ah, okay then, Zhongli." His eyes crinkle, reflecting a glimmer of a smile matching his lips.
It will be a long while since he will have your heart, but he's willing to wait. Good things comes to those who are patient enough, as mortals would tend to say.
"My dear, would you care to join me for a stroll outside the city?" he asks. "Huh? Now? This is quite sudden," you said, blinking your eyes a couple of times at the proposal.
"I'd like to selfishly ask of you to sing a song for the glaze lilies as well," he avows. He wishes that he could hear more of you because he missed your voice dearly so it was a good thing that you were still you from years ago-- very talkative and bright.
"Oh, okay.. Yeah! I guess I can sing for the flowers and you as well." Smiling, Zhongli stood up and offers a hand to hold which you happily accept.
You still don't know what makes you so drawn to the male, but you liked the feeling that flutters in your chest. At every thing he says and do, you were captivated so when he offered his hand, your cheeks warmed and felt tingly.
Zhongli shared interesting things along the way, all getting your limitless curiosity. "You really know a lot of things. Are you sure you're just a consultant? Not a scholar or a noble?" you ask in a playful manner. He laughs. "I assure you, I am nothing more than a consultant."
You giggled, covering your mouth with a fisted hand. "Oh, we're here!" you exclaim, looking ahead to a field of glaze lilies. Their petals were closed shut, but one can easily tell that it multiplied. The reason for that? You.
When you walked through the field on a task, you noticed a small group of glaze lilies. Despite it being too little at the time, you found it beautiful so you came there whenever you can. You later knew that singing would help it open its petals when you hummed your special tune.
You sat at the same spot you usually did and Zhongli followed, sitting down beside you. "You know, these flowers remind me of you, Zhongli," you state, happily picking one with its petals open.
"How so?" he asks, quite amused at the statement. Looking at the flower in your hands, your eyes smiled to a distant memory you no longer hold. A memory when you were an immortal. You didn't know that, but Zhongli did.
"Well, it's beautiful just like you." You look at him, the corner of your eyes wrinkling as you smiled.
You outstretched your hand with the flower, urging him to take it. "And I think it goes wonderful with you," you said once he took it.
He smiles, looking at the given glaze lily. Then, looking to meet your eyes, he kindly spoke. "I think they suit you better, my dear," he said, pushing your hair out of the way to place the flower behind you ear, getting close and brushing his hands on your skin as he does so.
Your face flushes a deep red at the sudden closeness and touch. When Zhongli moved away, a chuckle reverberates in his throat upon seeing your flustered face.
"A, ah.. I.. Thank you," were the only words you could stammer in your state. Zhongli gave a close-eyed smile as response, deciding that you will be more flustered if he spoke any further.
"My dear, would you care to sing a little song for me?" he asks, changing the topic. "It's a song one has not have heard of." Luckily, this worked and your face returned to its normal colour. "Hm? You sing too, Zhongli?" you ask excitedly, eyes sparkling with stars.
"I do, but I am not as talented as you are," he answers. "Then, I would love for you to teach me if it means I could hear you sing," you said.
Zhongli nods and began to teach you the song as he sings. His voice was deep and really complimented the tune. It made you at ease, closing your eyes as it lulled you to drowsiness and washing away any worries you might have had.
Once he finished, you praised him in earnest. "Why don't you give it a try, my dear?" he asks. You nod, wanting to sing such a lovely song.
As you began to sing, Zhongli noted in his mind that your voice was truly more lovelier than his. The song was one he made for you in his days where the sadness was much harder to bear. It was a song telling you how much he loved you, but also a song about the loneliness he had the bear. You didn't know, only focusing on how it sounded.
He wishes that he will get to tell you the truth someday, but he knew that that day will never come. After all, a mortal with no recollection of her past won't understand.
No matter, he thought to himself, you will always come back to him, no matter which life you are on. After all, you are his phoenix while he is your dragon and as the knowledge goes in Liyue, the phoenix and dragon represents woman and man, yin and yang.
In the tales of old, when the phoenix returned to ashes once more, the dragon would wait for his phoenix to come back. And this happened like a cycle.

He was out, again, on a request from some rich heiress who has been having sleepless nights because of some ghost that hunts her house. The details didn't concern you and you couldn't care less about the heiress or her situation. In fact, you wish that she suffered from it, but you wouldn't say that out loud. Alright, to come clean, you were upset that she had to suddenly come and request for the best exorcist on the one day he was going to take a break since he didn't have any requests. You were deprived of love from him, so it was completely understandable.
"It's not fair.. He never spends time with me, and when we do have time, it's always at night-- when he comes home!" you shout in anger, poking the cake with your fork aggressively, Xingqiu watching fearfully and in silence, afraid to upset you any more than you already were. However, much to his already frightened state, you had to go and glare at him. "Hey, say something, you good-for-nothing bookworm!"
He flinches. "U, uh.. Well, we can do something to take your mind off of him for a while.. Until he comes back, of course," he suggests, sweat dropping frivolously and hands shaking slightly when he takes hold of his cup. He takes a sip, trying hard to maintain eye contact with you, hiding his quivering lips behind the cup.
Unfortunately and fortunately for him, it seemed that you were not up for the idea, but you didn't yell, sighing as you dip into your seat. Feeling relieved, Xingqiu sets his cup down, "Well, we can always hit the book--" You glared at him which made him shut up to further irritate you and remained silent. He honestly don't know how you and Chongyun managed to last as long as your relationship goes with you being the way you were.
Not wanting to stay any longer, he looks for an excuse, looking at his imaginary watch. "Oh, would you look at that.. It's my curfew now, so I best be off. See you tomorrow, (Y/N)." He stood up and hastily made his way to the door and turn to look at you over her shoulders. "Don't worry about the bill. This is my family's business, after all." With that, he left you where you were, not getting a chance to stop him.
You sighed, letting your mind wander around in the lonely table for a while until deciding to head home, guessing that Chongyun would be home anytime soon-- if he was to come home tonight, that is.
Unfortunately, he didn't come home and so, Xingqiu was stuck babysitting you until your boyfriend came home to deal with you. You were getting impatient, upset, but most of all, needy for his love.
So, when he came home at night, you were elated to see him home. However, that happiness-- although still there-- was replaces with concern for the bluenette. He looked exhausted. "Hey, you look tired," was the first thing you said when he stepped inside. "Oh, do I?" he asks, and as if on cue, he stumbles forward, his eyelids becoming unbearably heavy. Lucky for him, your fast reflexes caught him. You sighed and carried him in your arms, walking towards your shared bedroom, where you engulfed him in your warmth.
When the sun rose, hinting for a new day, Chongyun was still asleep in your arms. You, however, were wide awake and was lacing your fingers through his soft, blue hair and kissed his forehead. The reason you and Chongyun remained together was that you were very caring for the boy-- though Xingqiu wouldn't believe that, seeing as you had straight-up exploded at him for reasons he wasn't involved with.
Chongyun's eyelids fluttered open, revealing his beautiful set of eyes. "Good morning," you say softly. Being the smaller spoon, he looks up to meet your eyes. He smiles and greets your a good morning as well. You two remained in each other's embrace for a while, before Chongyun sighs, "I have more requests of me.." he confesses, but you held him closer. "Those can wait. Today, you are resting at home whether you like it or not," you say. Chongyun would fight, but he knew you too well to know that you would go extra measure such as tying him to the bed to makes sure he stayed put.
"I'll make breakfast and after that, we can cuddle, okay?" you suggest, to which he hums in agreement, liking the idea of spending time with you. You did just that-- getting up and making breakfast for the two of you. Afterwards, you two returned to the bedroom, just enjoying in each other's presence all day.
The positions kept on changing at the cuddle session that you were now the one who was laying on your beloved's chest, listening to his heartbeat. "Hey, you don't need to go out every time someone requests for you, you know?" you say, breaking the comfortable silence.
"But I have to know.. How to control this congenital--" You cut him off, tired of him repeating the same thing. "I know, but you do know I'm here too, right?" you say. "We're not spending much time." The one thing you have ever wanted to come clean about, finally lifted something within you. You have always wanted to talk to him about it, but respected him too much to do so.
"I.. I'm sorry, (Y/N). I didn't think I.." Chongyun trails, feeling bad that he made you feel so lonely all this time. "It's fine. I will wait for you anyway," you said, wrapping your arms around him and burying your head closer to his chest, wanting the silence once more.
However, things started to turn away from that cute cuddle session when you move your hands underneath his shirt, rubbing his sides slowly. You confess, secretly of course, that while he was away, you have.. Done some shameful things with yourself. And now that he is back, it flared up even more, wanting more than just a hug from him. You also admit that you may or may not have planned the majority of today to lead it up to this point.
"Chongyun, don't you know how much I missed you?" you ask, feeling your lips tugging to a naughty smile as you trail your hands on his stomach. You looked up and see that his face was flaring red. "Well?" You moved closer to his face. "I, I, uhm.."
You smiled, showing eyes of hunger and leaned towards one of his ears. "I'll show you," you whispered huskily, your hands now trailing below his waist-- to his crotch.
He moans when your hands were pressing against his crotch, though not going past the thin clothing that blocks your hands from his private. "(Y- Y/N), we-- ngh..!" He stops when you stroked his thing beneath. "Do you want to know what I've been doing, Chongyun?" you ask. "All the naughty things I've been thinking about for when you come home?"
You see that his positive energy is emitting that will replace his soon-to-be gone cold exterior. "I'm sure you want to, no?" you ask again, smiling at the male. When he doesn't answer, you spoke again. "I need an answer, Chongyun."
He nods quickly. Your eyes narrowed and crashed your lips with his, soon slipping your tongue inside and fought for dominance-- to which you won. The kiss, your hand that soon slipped below his underpants, and the other feeling his sides and stomach-- it was all too much for the exorcist, moaning as he let you do whatever you want with him.
You pulled away from the kiss, a thin line of saliva connecting your lips. "Why don't you rest for a week?" you suggest, a smirk placing on your lips as your eyes grows darker, filled of lust. "I'll take care of it."

No one could imagine what it was like to be caught in between the human-fae war. It was a time of bloodshed. Cries from both elderly and children alike who weren’t spared from death. Many lives were lost and many villages crumbled down that only inhabited ruins would remain today.
“Sir Vanrouge!” A young fae called out towards a slightly taller male from the distance, his voice sounding urgent and panting by the sounds of it. In the distance, the man whom the fae called halts at the name. He was dressed in nothing but a black battle dress head to toe, a colour that came from and praised from the night skies that also matches the colour of his hair. It is also adorned in silver shoulder plates, a few chains that- for the most part- held his uniform and the cape that drapes over his back and of course, badges. Hard earned badges he had been rewarded from the amount of lives he’s taken and overall contribution he had partaken in.
The taller fae remained at a standstill, but it was still very clear that he was listening. The younger one stuttered the first word and had to take a moment to gulp down the nervousness that built up in his voice as well as straighten himself to be a more proper soldier. It was only to be expected. The fae before him had an overwhelming aura. Be it newcomers or long time soldiers of the same ranking as the dark fae, they would all tremble under the presence of his. This was a charm only the Lilia Vanrouge could have and no one else.
“Sir, the Queen would like to speak with you in the throne room..” He says. Despite the moment he had taken to breathe, his voice became softer towards the end.
There was silence once he finished speaking and he became nervous once more, thinking that he had upset the fae. “S-sir..? I-it’s an urgent— Eep!” The older fae turned his head over his shoulders and when he did, the young fae was spooked to be met with two, crimson eyes that glowed faintly.
“I-I’m sorry, sir!” Whatever courage the young fae had for war were all spent upon realizing that the fae was approaching him. He closes his eyes and stood still as a statue with his hands glued to his sides. He’s done for. He has upsetted a high-ranked official. He’ll surely—
A pale hand placed itself on his shoulders which made him flinch. He gulps back a lump and awaits for his impending death.
“General.”
Huh? He looks to his right to face the tall fae, a perplexed look evident on his face. The fae stares back with those alluring eyes and repeats himself but with more detail, “Address me as General.”
“O-oh, yes, Si— Uhm, General..” Satisfied, the general continues his walk to meet the Queen. The clacking of heels on the marble floor was all that could be heard before it stopped momentarily when large, creaking doors opened and then resuming, fading as soon as the doors closed.
“Your Majesty.” Lilia kneeled down on one knee and his right hand was closed into a fist over his heart while the other was fist closed on the ground. “Vanrouge.”
In front of him, the Queen of the Valley sits upon a throne adorned in thorns. If one trembles before the general, then they couldn’t even dare to even dream of being in the same room as the Queen if she ever permits an audience with her, that is. A great magician such as herself requires no more than one strong soldier such as Lilia and thus, would relay her wishes through him and him alone.
“I take it that your troops will be the one to lead the fight tomorrow?” She begins, her voice echoes in the huge room that was basically empty aside for the throne and a few, small items. “Yes, your majesty.”
“Very well. Then, you must take precaution as it seems that a few high-ranked sorcerers are amongst them,” she says and motions towards her familiar— a raven. “They appear to be doing their due diligence to hide them from our informants.”
“Your majesty, are you perhaps concerned for my wellbeing?” He asks, looking up to meet the eyes of the mother of all dark faes. Her face remained stoic and her eyes glowed a vibrant emerald green. “That, I am. I can’t have you dying.”
“Then set aside your worries, your majesty. It brings me shame that I have been held at such a high regard by you, yet is treated with pitiful thoughts,” Lilia confesses. “This can not do as I am merely a servant.”
The Queen remains silent and studies his face. His eyes, the colour of blood.. It almost seemed too perfect to the Queen. A weapon for war, a harbinger of death.. Born within her kingdom at the perfect time.
“.. Forgive my imprudence,” she says, her head still held high with the pride of a monarch. “I believe there is a mistake, your majesty. It is I who should ask for forgiveness for I seem to be lacking somewhere to have you worry. I will correct it.”
Knowing how the general will continue lowering himself, she heaves a sigh of defeat and even closes her eyes for a moment. “Very well.. I will await news once you return. You may leave.”
The door to the throne room opens once more and the sound of heels echoes down the hall once again.
Lilia Vanrouge, the Queen’s right hand man, is a terrifying creature.
—
“There is at least one, capable human sorcerer among them.. Their locations are unknown and they could very well be capable of teleportation.” Around Lilia, soldiers gather and listen in silence to the general’s words. “General, they are merehuman, aren’t they? Why do we need to be concerned?” One fae raises a hand and speaks, drawing the attention of both his comrades and the general.
This one is new, that much is evident by how cocky he presents himself. This, however, was quickly received with the most frightening glare from Lilia. “Eep!” The soldier was immediately humbled down, scared for his life. But, it wasn’t just them, those who saw his face also flinched and avoided looking at him.
There were only two facial expressions the fae would make; one being his usual, blank look and the second one was what this cocky fae received. It is clear that most opts to have the expressionless general.
“You seem rather new..” Lilia says calculatingly and in an eerily calm tone that was a stark difference to his face just a few seconds ago. “You must not have experience on the field or what these men have seen.
“If it were simply mere humans, why do you think that many of our men fell?” He repeats words from the young soldier in a sarcastic tone. The soldier bit the bottom of his lips, embarrassed and scared. “S-sorry, General Vanrouge..”
Lilia resumes talking about strategies and ways to counter attacks from the opposing team and as soon as the sun reached high above in the sky, both made their moves.
Who would have thought that things would go south for the General..
—
Hours went by and soon, his army of hundreds were stretched far and wide, being lured away with war. He is very much capable by himself so he ordered that if things should go as unplanned, that they were to leave him.
However, this would be critical when he finds himself facing off six human sorcerers whose faces were shadowed by their cloak. How clever, he thinks. He could tell that this was planned from the very beginning; to stretch his army thin and to take the head of their commander first. They did not care whether other of their soldiers died for they saw his head as a good reward for it.
Humans can be such a two-faced creature.. Boosting morale of their men without telling the real reason for the plan. He presumes that it was the doing of those higher than them.
Out of the six, only 3 seem to be high-ranked magic users. No worries, he’ll just take care of these—
“Guhk—!” He let his guard down and realized that there was one more hiding somewhere who made sure to mask their presence. He stumbles forward but still held his ground. “The General got hit!” One of them shouts and now before him, reveals six more other sorcerers including the one earlier.
These ones were weaker and used the bloodlust of the stronger ones to hide theirs, initially hiding from Lilia.
“Bind!” One of the three stronger ones, casts a spell and chains sprouts front the ground and binds his ankles to the soils.
He tilts his head to the ever darkening sky and slowly closes his eyes. Your majesty, do forgive me for overlooking your concerns.
“It’s over for you, monster!” One charges at him with a longsword with the intent to cleanly detach his head from his body.
—
Trekking through the now dark forest in silence, Lilia was obviously injured. Those humans were truly something. He was badly wounded with a hand over his stomach and was exhausted.
I must return to the camp..
But how could he at this rate when he is limping and his magic spent? He dares not try to push himself further in fear of an overblot. It’s alright. He has given orders to the lieutenant on what to do and practically lead the army in his absence.
That being said.. A rest wouldn’t hurt, right?
After looking at his surroundings to make sure there was no one in sight, he sits and leans against a tree. He only needs half a day— no, less than that— to be able to heal a bit of himself. However, the blow to his right shoulder by a spear— from the first ambusher— is bleeding a lot.
Whatever.. He’ll fix— Crack.
His eyebrows perks up and his ears sharpened. There was someone here. But where?
That was soon answered when he felt a slight tremble on the Earth’s surface. This thing.. It must have been at least ten feet. Could it be a giant? What would it be doing in this territory? Perhaps a monster has wandered in.. That’s no good.
Cautiously, he stands up and looks around. Thankfully, his kind allowed him to see better in the dark by ten folds than that of a human’s. He walks towards the booming sound and as soon as he was merely metres away, his eyes widen in disbelief and surprise. In front of him was—
“Alrighty!”
A voice could be heard just a few steps away and in the distance, he sees a house.. Walking. This wasn’t a sight he got to see everyday.. Nor had he seen such a thing in his entire life for that matter.
“Slow it down, you buffoon!” The same voice shouts from inside the house. “Okay, just stop. Stop, stop, stop!”
On command, the house lowers itself to the ground with the legs being tucked away underneath just as a cat would when it’s getting comfortable.
He watches on in silence as a short figure exits through the front door of the house. “Waah! Finally, a breath of fresh air!” The person stretches their arms above their head and bends backwards slightly.
This person.. What are they doing here? Wait.. Upon closer inspection, he could very well see that they were not a fae. In fact, they had human ears and their aura alone could verify that.
His jaw clenches at the dreaded thought of confronting yet another enemy. He must erase them or—
“Hm?” Before he could realize that he wasn’t even hiding, the human is now staring at him with curiosity in their eyes. “Hey, what are you doing out there?” They shout from their house. The light from the house emits a warm glow that faintly traces their outline.
“Why don’t you come here? It’s scary when it’s dark, you know?” They cup a hand over their mouth and wave the other, signaling for him to come. However, instead of doing just that, Lilia thinks it’s wise to just spare them for now and flee the field so he turns back around.
This does not slip past them as footsteps hurried to catch up to him. “Hey, hey! What are you doing?” They say and reach out to grab ahold of his shoulder, his bloodied shoulder. “You’re welcome in my house. And I promise I won't bite— oh!”
Lilia roughly shoves them out of instinct from the pain upon contact. He watches as realization hits them— that their hands are covered in blood. “Oh dear..! This is a call for concern..” Their brows furrow at the sight. They remain like that for a while then looks at him with focused eyes. “Please, come inside and let me treat you.”
—
“It’s not the strongest magic.. But this is my unique magic.” Before Lilia could realize, he was now sitting on a bed and being tended to. At first, he didn’t understand why he obeyed, but upon confession, it all made sense. “It can make people obey me, but it’s only limited to coming inside the house and— oh! I probably shouldn’t be telling you that, am I?” They laugh but that quickly dies down as he was not indulging in conversation.
They sat on a wooden stool that faces him and diligently wraps his right arm that connects to the first wound. Their eyelashes were long and from his perspective, it looked very alluring how it hides bits of their eyes.
“Ah! I haven’t introduced myself, have I?” They stop their movements and look at him with a beaming smile. “I’m [Name].”
***
You introduce yourself and hope that he, too, would do the same. But, he remains unfocused as something else brought his mind somewhere else. “Uhm.. Could I get your name?” You ask, careful of your words. This brought his attention back to you. A name exchange between two people on opposite sides of the war? Now that was something dangerous.
“Do you not know who I am?” Were the words he answered with, his crimson eyes boring into you. “U-Uhm.. Sorry, I don’t believe I do..” You sweatdrop. Was this guy important? You lived in isolation majority of the time and travel a lot so you couldn’t sit down and read the recent newspaper.
At the lack of an answer, he sighs and closes his eyes and rephrased his words, “Do you know what I am?” This made you actually look at him carefully. He is dressed— well, was, since you asked him to remove his clothing earlier— in all black and adorned in silver and badges. “Are you a soldier?” You ask.
He squinted his eyes and raised a brow. Were you this.. Oblivious? “I see you are not afraid of faes,” he says in a matter-of-fact tone. This time, you look at his ears since those were a very obvious trait for a fae. “O-oh.. I guess you are..” However, you still remain dumb to the situation and wonder where this is going.
“Well anyway, let me go get more bandages and after that, I’ll cook you something to eat.” You stood up from your seat and mumbled to yourself that was still very audible, “I didn’t think that your wounds would run all over..
“I’m sorry that I can’t heal you faster and properly.. I don’t often use magic..”
—
As promised, after you bandaged him up, you gave him food. He thought that would be it and he would be forced outside, but you surprised him by insisting he stays inside until he was well. Otherwise, you would just follow him.
Based on your appearance and behaviour, you were a normal civilian and had not a clue about the war that surrounded you. He rather not bring an innocent into this matter so he couldn’t have you following him into war. This was fine with him since he needed to rest and your house a perfect resting stop.
However, it was very much out in the open.. What if someone were to come? Be it fae or human, it would not end well.
He believes that he has gained a bit of his strength back so he sets up a barrier. It wasn’t so strong that it’ll prevent anyone from getting in if they so wish it— it just alters an outsider’s thoughts and makes them turn around. They also can’t see the house until they’re inside.
“You can sleep here.” You motioned to the recently changed sheets that he previously sat on and then moved towards a closet to take out a blanket. “I’ll go sleep on the couch and no refusing; you are my guest and an injured one at that.”
You gave him one last smile over your shoulder and prepared to turn the knob but he stops you, “Are you really unaware of the war?” He was vague unless you were informed of the current news. This peaks your interest and you turn your body to properly face him. “The war?”
“One with your kind and mine,” he answers and crosses his arms. You were now very much confused and it was clear to him as well with how your face warps to that of hard pondering. “Wasn’t that over seven years ago?”
He shook his head. “Your kind had taken advantage of the peace to attack the kingdom.” You bit your bottom lip and look down. You weren’t aware, but you were hugging the folded blanket a little too tightly.
“You really know nothing?” He asks once more. You closed your eyes and let out a deep sigh that you didn’t know you had been holding in and carefully put your thoughts into words, “I do not care what is happening.
“I am merely a travelling merchant but because of that, I rarely receive news.” You opened your eyes after speaking and smiled. “Frankly, I find that war is pointless and that it unnecessarily costs hundreds of lives.”
To you, you were just voicing your honest thoughts but to Lilia, it cause something in him to stir. He didn’t think that there was a human out there that had thought the things you do.
“A-anyway, I should let you rest..” Once again, you turn to open the door.
“Lilia..” Your ears barely heard it yet you glanced at him. “My name is Lilia Vanrouge.” This made you smile and turn to face him again.
“Nice to meet you, Lilia Vanrouge.”

The manor was no longer the silent and lonely house that everyone used to know before he met you, and now that he has made a family with you, his heart felt comfort knowing that he has two little angels to return to each and every night.
"Wake up, Daddy! Wake up, Mommy!" a child's voice sang throughout the empty halls and continued to do so until it got inside your room. The owner of the voice frown when they saw you still sleeping-- well underneath the blankets.
However, that frown was replaced by a giggle and smile, taking this opportunity to jump right on your stomach since you were the closest.
You groan in a tired pain, but after a few seconds, you opened your eyes, looking at the little human sitting at the bottom of the bed. A wide smile greets you and you couldn't help but smile back.
"Yay! Mommy is awake!" They cheer, clapping excitedly. You look towards the person who lay beside you, sleeping peacefully as he pretended not to hear the loud child, his arms around your waist getting a bit tighter.
Diluc came home awfully late last night, eyes holding fatigue with light bags under his eyes, so it was understandable as to why he dare not wake up.
You pulled away from his wrap, making space between you and him before patting that spot, hinting the little girl to join.
If you didn't know any better, you might have thought that the smile on her face couldn't get any wider.
Crawling beside you, you placed a kiss on their forehead, wrapping one arm on their small waist. "Good morning, Nuri. How was your sleep?" Your voice a bit hoarse, still just waking up.
"At first, Nuri had trouble sleeping because of how excited I am!" Nuri exclaims, but soon added, "But Nuri had a good sleep! Mommy and Daddy showed up in my dream and we ate ice cream!"
You chuckled at her words, heart feeling warm. "That's good to hear," you simply answered, unable to reply with energy and wondered how the child had so much energy. The sun was still peeking through the horizon, yet she acted as if it was nine already.
"Are we going to go now?" Nuri asks. You look at the male, snoozing tiredly. "In a couple more minutes, okay?" you said, making the child frown a bit. "But Nuri wants to eat ice cream now!" she states.
"You will have as many ice creams as you want soon-- just let Daddy sleep a bit more, okay?" you assured the girl. She pouts, but nodded.
After a few minutes, you got up, reminding Nuri to not wake Diluc up just yet as you go shower to shake the remaining sleep off of you.
Upon stepping back into the bedroom, Nuri was sitting beside Diluc, poking his cheeks lightly as she admires his complexion. "Nuri, let's go get you change, okay? Then we'll wake your father," you said, offering her a hand to latch onto.
She looks over at you and jumps off of the bed, her excitement just getting higher as you two left the room and allowing Diluc to sleep in silence for a while.
"I want to eat loads of ice cream!" Nuri states excitedly, swinging her legs as she sat and letting you tie her hair. "I also want to play with Klee!"
"I'm sure we'll run into her if she isn't confined in her room," you said, just finishing tying her red hair into a ponytail and putting on a ribbon to top it off. Nuri smiles when she saw herself in the mirror and quickly hops off of the chair. "Can we go wake Daddy up now?" she asks, to which you nod.
"Alright, go wake Daddy," you urge the child when you two got back to the master's bedroom. Nuri nods and quickly leaves your side, doing the same thing when she woke you up- jumping onto his stomach.
"Wake up, Daddy!" Nuri said. Diluc groans from the sudden pain, eyes fluttering open to stare at the child. "Nuri..? What are you doing here?" Diluc greets, voice hoarse upon wake.
"You promised Nuri that you will take her out today, so get your butt out of bed!" Nuri orders, shaking the male with whatever strength she's got.
Diluc chuckles at her weak strength, but nevertheless, straightened up on bed. "Good morning to you too," he said, lifting the child up in the air and soon showing a smile of his own.
He turns his head towards you as you make your way to the two. You sat at the other side of the bed and gave a quick peck on his lips. "Good morning," you said. He returns the greeting by kissing you, but this time, letting it linger for a while longer. "Stop kissing and let's go already! I want ice cream!" Nuri weakily punches Diluc's stomach. You and Diluc chuckled, but complied to her orders in the end.
After Diluc changed into his daily choice of clothing, you three met in the dining room where Adelinde had ready set breakfast for the three of you.
"Slow down, Nuri. You'll choke if you eat like that," you said, seeing the girl practically vacuuming her breakfast. "But I want to go out and if we eat quickly, we'll get to go faster!" Even when saying so, she slows down.
After that, you three finally set off, walking all the way to the city where all the fun was.
Strolling around for a bit, Nuri's eyes landed on a toy store with a large window displaying the toys inside. Quickly, she tugs on Diluc's coat, drawing his attention. "Daddy, I want toys!" Nuri said, pointing to the toys on display, eyes pleading like that of a puppy wanting treats.
Diluc stares through the window and smiled at the girl, nodding and letting himself be taken into the store with her, you trailing behind.
Inside, Nuri quickly separates herself from you two to look at the many toys and soon return with a lot in her hands. "Daddy, Daddy, can I get these and those?" she asks, pointing at a couple of toys in the shelf as well as hinting the ones in her hands.
"Uh, Nuri, that's quite a lot, don't you think?" You sweat dropped at her pleas. However, "You can buy whatever you want," Diluc states. Nuri smiles widely and giggles, saying her thank yous to Diluc.
"Diluc, don't you think you're spoiling her too much?" you ask. He reassures you by intertwining your hands together. "If it is something she wants, I will get it for her-- no matter the cost. Besides, I make a lot of money that I don't know what to do with them other than spoiling you two," he said, smiling at you.
You nudge him lightly with your free hand, to which he chuckles. "Daddy, I'm done choosing!" Nuri said, waving from the counter.
"Can you wrap them up in boxes separately? I'll send my butler to get them later," Diluc said to the person behind the counter and placed a pouch full of mora. "Yes, of course, sir. But, uh, I'm sure that this is too much," the person gestures at the pouch.
"Oh, you can keep the change," Diluc said, earning a thank you from them. "Well then, shall we go?" he asks Nuri. She smiles and held his free hand, exiting the store happily.
When you three stepped out, you were greeted by an all too familiar voice. "Oh? So it seems that Master Diluc, (Y/N), and Nuri are out for a family stroll," Kaeya greets and approaches the family.
"Uncle Kaeya!" Nuri smiles widely at the sight of the male and let go of Diluc's hand to run to Kaeya, leaping into his already open arms and lifting her up to meet his eye.
A visible, wide smile appears in Kaeya's face as he chuckles. "Why if it isn't my little fairy," he said, rubbing his nose on hers, earning her to giggle.
"So, what have you been up to, my little fairy?" he asks. "I bought lots of toys for me and Klee!" she answers, putting her small hands on his shoulders.
"Oh? I'm sure Klee would be happy to hear that," Kaeya said, dismissing the glare he's earning from Diluc.
You chuckled at your husband's jealousy and squeeze his hand softly. Everytime Kaeya was around, almost always did Nuri go to Kaeya, even though she has been told time and time again by Diluc to not trust any of the inefficient knights.
"Sir Kaeya, don't you have some things to attend to?" Diluc asks, getting the captain's attention. "Oh, I'm free of work at the moment." He smugly smirks. Seeing his brother jealous was something he loved to see and make it a point to show up at some point to earn Nuri's attention.
"Huh, really? As far as I'm concerned, your other knights are standing at their posts and doing their duties.. Are you saying that you are slacking off?" Diluc shots back.
"Maybe I am." Kaeya shrugs, his smirk not dropping from his face. "I will happily slack off from work to enjoy my time with this angelic fairy." He hints at Nuri.
Diluc gumbles curses under his breath, clearly upset at his brother's presence.
Luckily, a fellow knight intruded, clearing looking for Kaeya. "Sir Kaeya, Acting Grandmaster wishes to see you," tha knight said, straightening his posture.
Kaeya eyed the knight. "Oh? What for?" he asks. "She asks of you to take care of Klee for a while, sir," the knight answers.
Kaeya frowns a bit, but that soon changed into a smile. "Oh, Nuri, would you like to see Klee now?" He turns his head to the child.
"I'm afraid I won't allow that, Sir Kaeya," Diluc steps in, not wanting his child to be inside the Knight's of Favonius' headquarters, even if it's just for a quick visit.
"Oh come on, I'm sure she would love to see Klee. Aren't I right, Nuri?" Kaeya asks with a confident smirk. And to his correction, Nuri nods. "See, Master Diluc? You don't want to upset your daughter now, would you?"
"Nuri, do you want to get ice cream now?" Diluc changes the conversation to his favour. He doesn't like giving Nuri sweets so early in the day, but it had to be done just this once.
Nuri's eyes glimmers and nods quickly, tugging on Kaeya's clothes to out her down so she can go to her father. At that point, Kaeya lost to ice cream and put her down.
"Ah.. Klee would be so sad.." Kaeya tries to change the child's mind, but to no avail. When ice cream was involved, Nuri tend to forget everything else and focus on getting ice cream.
"Well then, that settles this. Sir Kaeya, let us not meet a second time today," Diluc bids to the knight. "Oh, don't worry. I'll be sure to see Nuri again today~" Kaeya said, irking the redhead. Taking Nuri into his arms, he walks away, you following beside them.
"Daddy, will you really buy me ice cream?" Nuri asks for reassurance. Diluc nods. "I don't back out of my words," Diluc said.
"I want chocolate!" Nuri says once inside the ice cream shop. "Chocolate? Isn't it a little too early, Nuri?" Diluc points out.
She huffs and crosses her arms. "You said you will buy me ice cream and I want chocolate!" she said. Diluc sighs and went to buy her a small chocolate ice cream and in a cone as requested by her.
"What do you want, love?" he asks you, knowing that Nuri's love for ice cream was shared with you. "I'm sure you want your favourite, right?" You giggle and nodded. It felt special to you how he remembers everything about you-- from your favourite things in the world to your fears.
You exited the shop, Diluc smiling at his two angels enjoying their ice cream, although he still doesn't approve of eating something so unhealthy early the day.
From that time till lunch, you three went into stores that caught Nuri's eyes, Diluc paying for everything that the little girl wanted with no hesitation-- a luxury that only vieux riche can experience.
Soon it was time for lunch and Nuri became hungry. "Where do you want to eat, Nuri?" you ask. "I want ice cream!" she quickly answers.
"You've had your once-a-day ice cream, Nuri," Diluc points out, making Nuri pout. "But I want ice cream.."
Seeing her sad, Diluc quickly added to his words. "You will get a second ice cream after lunch, okay?" he said, lifting her spirits up. "Second ice cream? Yay!" She claps her hands. "Then, I want to eat at Miss Sara's," she answers. Nuri doesn't know the name of the places within the city, so when she says 'Miss Sara's', she means Good Hunter.
"Hi, Miss Sara!" Nuri greets, waving her small hands. Sara smiles and greeted the child, then going off to asking your orders.
Diluc was one to not like going in public places, unless he had some business. But now that he has Nuri, that changed in order to make her happy.
Sitting down, Nuri excitedly hums and swing her legs, wanting to get a second ice cream that only happens once in a blue moon.
"Ho~ You three don't certainly loiter around in one place." Behind Nuri, came an approaching Kaeya, however, he wasn't alone this time, so when Nuri turned, a huge smile tugged on the girl's face. "Klee!"
"Hi, Nuri!" Klee runs to Nuri's side, giggling. "Do you want to see my new toys?" the young knight asks and Nuri nods excitedly.
"Klee, you know what Acting Grandmaster said about showing your bombs within the walls, right?" Kaeya reminded. Klee pouts. "But I'm just showing it to Nuri.."
"Don't worry, Klee! We can play with it outside next time!" Nuri comforts the girl.
Bringing two chairs to the table, Klee sat beside Nuri and chatted with her more while Kaeya smugly looks at Diluc. "I thought I said to never appear again," Diluc grumbles.
"And I said that I will definitely be back." This only made Kaeya's smirk wider, clearly satisfied.
While the two children chatted away smilingly, the two male adults bickered over the childish of topics, you also joining when being asked for personal opinion.
Even after leaving Good Hunter, Kaeya and Klee tagged along in the family stroll due to Nuri's request. "We can take care of Klee. You can go back," Diluc states, crossing his arms and staring at the male on the opposite side of you, using you as a sort of barrier between himself and the knight.
"I'm afraid I can't do that, Master Diluc. After all, I have been personally assigned by the Acting Grandmaster~" Diluc glares at him and cursed him once again.
"It's okay, Diluc. He's still family, so it's natural for him to join," you said, holding his hand. "Mhm, that's right~" Kaeya hums in agreement.
When Nuri asked for her second ice cream, Diluc ended up buying ice cream for everyone-- except for himself, of course. That meant he also had to buy one for Kaeya so that Nuri wouldn't be upset with him.
After hours of strolling, the sun was seen setting in the horizon, hinting you that Nuri's bedtime was soon.
"Alright, Nuri, time to say bye-bye to Klee," you said, intruding into the girl's happy conversation. "Already?" Nuri pouts.
"Yes, we have to get home before dinnertime," you state. Reluctantly and sadly, Nuri said her goodbyes to the red knight.
"See you soon, Nuri!" Klee waves from the gate, her doing the same as she held your hand. Once gone from the bridge, it was time for her turn to go home. "Now, let's get you back inside the headquarters," Kaeya said. "Otherwise, Acting Grandmaster will totally have it in for me."
Inside Dawn Winery and after dinner, you brought Nuri to her personal bathroom to bathe her and quickly get her into her sleepwear while Diluc went to your shared bathroom to do the same and later joining you two in her bedroom.
"Daddy, I want you to read The Legend of Venessa!" Nuri said when she got on her bed, pulling it from under her pillow. "Again?" you ask. She nods with no hesitation to having her favourite book be re-read to her.
"Alright.." Diluc complies to her demands, reading the same words for the umpteenth time until you both hear her lightly snore. She prefers Diluc over you when reading her bedtime stories because of how nice his voice sounds.
You got up from your sitting position at the side of her bed, pushing any strands of hair and placing a kiss on her forehead.
Now, it was yours and Diluc's turn to sleep, going to your shared bedroom that was just a few doors away from Nuri's.
He wraps his arms around your waist and brought you close for more warmth than what the blanket could provide. "Good night, angel," he said and kissing the crown of your head. Tiredly, you hummed. "Good night, Diluc."

Note: Hi! Sorry for the long wait. I had to rewrite this because I didn't like the first version.
—
Small was an understatement.. Tiny? Yeah, that’s more like it.
“[N-Name]..! Y, you’re–” Ace looks down at your extremely small form in both amazement and fear.
“Waah!? Henchman–!!” Grim exclaims right beside you. When the smoke from a brewing explosion has gone and passed, and all of the coughing fit has stopped, you, the Adeuce duo, and your furball of a dorm mate came to a tiny surprise.
You were the size of those pop figures you’d get from a vending machine and those things are so small that you could step on them if you let it be thrown on the ground somewhere.
“Prefect, you’re tiny!” Deuce finally said what the other two couldn’t utter out of shock. You were the last to open your eyes and when you did, the first thing you looked at was at yourself, on your bottom, and then up to your friends.
“Oh shoot! What should we do!?” Ace said in a panic state and practically pulling his hair out. “We can’t ask Professor Crewel for help or else he knows that we snuck inside his class and messed around with his potions!”
“This is your fault, Grim, so what is your plan now?” Ace points at your dorm mate accusingly. “EH!? My fault!?” Grim frowns. “You know it is! If you just didn’t have to go finding ways of making yourself great, we wouldn’t be in this mess!”
“Hey, hey! You’re the one who wanted to try mixing stuff! You’re no better than me!” The furball snaps back. “Guys, enough. If you guys continue to fight, someone is bound to hear us and come to check. We won't be able to return the prefect to normal,” Deuce intervenes, stopping their bickering. "Let's see if there's a book here with a reverse potion. He's bound to have one." Is what he said right after and the two nodded in agreement, though they didn't go far.
"Uh, it doesn't look like there's much books here.." Ace scratches his head and looks down at the only desk with books, which was the teacher's desk situated right at the front of the class. "And these don't look like they have what we need."
"Let's try looking at the library then," Deuce suggests. They were all about to head out but was stopped short of an all too familiar voice.
“What do we have here?” Crewel asked, peeking through the classroom door. "Professional Crewel!!" The three boys shrieked as a dooming dread filled their bodies.
Thinking quickly on his feet, Ace hid you from the professor's view, though it didn't go under Crewel's suspicious radar. "Hmm? What are you boys doing here?" He asks. "You boys had better not been bad puppies, have you?"
"N-no! We, we were just..!!" Grim was quick to answer but stopped abruptly, which only made Crewel's frown deepen.
"You were making potions, weren't you?" he said in a matter-of-fact tone. "No! We–" "Yes, we did," Deuce speaks up, interrupting Grim and stopping him from making the situation look worse for them. "We're sorry, Professor Crewel."
Crewel was very much still upset but admired the fact that they– well, Deuce, stepped forward to confess and apologized for their fault, even staring him right in the eyes as he said so. He sighs, relaxing his facial muscles. "Well, I suppose it can't be helped that first years would be curious.." He says, unsure if it was intended for them to hear or a slip of the tongue.
He looks at the three. "But you boys must wait. It is not yet your time," he said. "Yes! We understand now, sir!" They all said in unison, posture stiff as stones.
"Very good. It doesn't look like you have been harmed so that is well," he said. "I will let you off with a warning. Off you go now and be good little puppies."
Ace quick snatches you and makes sure that Crewel couldn't see you as they passed by him.
"Isn't this great?" Ace lets out a deep sigh the moment you all are far from the classroom. "Even if we do find a reverse potion, we can't go back in there," he said, tucking you in his breast pocket. "Any ideas of what we should do now?"
He looks over at his fellow Heartslabyul friend, but Deuce was clearly in his own world, eyes fixed on the ground as they walked and a curled finger to his lips. "Hey, are you listening?" Ace's eyes narrow at him but there was no word from him, confirming his words.
Just then, Deuce eyes widened as if a lightbulb turned on in his head. "Ah!!" "AHH!! W, what!?" Grim shrieks, spooked at the sudden scare. "What is it? You thought of something?" Ace asks, wide-eyed from Deuce's sudden spark.
"Isn't Diasomnia's dorm leader super strong? And aren't you close to him, [Name]? Maybe Malleus can help!" He smiles. "Oh, yeah! Nice thinking, Deuce! Let's go." Ace grins.
When they stepped foot on Diasomnia territory, the three's newfound motivation quickly crumpled away like a dried up rose petal. "H, hey.. Maybe we should ask someone from Pomefiore instead.. They're supposed to be really good at potions, right?" Ace suggests, lips quivering at the sight of Diasomnia's dormitory that loomed over them.
"Vil is out of school right now and who knows if Rook would give the Prefect some other options to try.." Deuce said. "This is our only option, and I doubt anything can go wrong with Malleus since he's skilled at magic."
"Oh? What do we have here?" A new voice stepped in from behind and the three turns around to see who the eerie voice came from.
There, upside down, crimson eyes looked at them from the dark, seeming to pierce their very soul. "AHHHH!!!" All of you screamed– Grim being the loudest.
"Fufufu, fret nought. It is just me," Lilia emerges from the darkness that surrounded the dorm, now right side up.
"Lilia!" Ace and Deuce says in unison. "Oh thank the seven.. But I can't take these scares anymore," Grim said, clutching his chest as he tries to calm his heart. "I think I might pass out."
"Hm? Why, [Name], what happened to you?" Lilia asks, noticing your tiny form in Ace's pocket.
"Something happened when we were making potions.." You confessed. "Oh? Aren't you still in your first year to be making potions?"
"Yeah. But Grim wanted to go mess around," Ace said. "Like I said, you're no better than me!" Grim furrowed his brows.
"Is that so? Fufufu. So now I'm assuming you're here to look for help?" You nod at Lilia's words. "If it's potions we're dealing with, Pomefiore would be your best option, though I suppose we can help you."
"We've already thought of that," Deuce said. Lilia looks at him as he says so and then looks back at you. "Hm.. I'm sure Malleus can do something about that.." Lilia half-said to you four and to himself.
"But if I could add a word beforehand, I'm sure the potion would wear out soon enough," Lilia states. "Potions that alter one's form don't often last. That is why you have to keep drinking them."
"Lilia, you speak as if you've tried it before," Deuce said. "Do I now?" Lilia chuckles. "Anyway, it can be dangerous to quickly alter forms once you've changed so I suggest you wait a bit before making another potion to change forms."
"Dangerous how?" Grim asks, an eyebrow raised and arms crossed. "Well, for one thing, altering your body plays around with your insides, making it so that they fit nicely with your current body. You're lucky that you didn't die since usually the first time would kill you."
"What!? Man, isn't that terrifying!?" Ace said. "Indeed it is. Though after a couple of times, your body will get used to it and or alter without problems."
"So, how long should we wait?" Ace asks. "Hm.. You have to wait for a while so that the potion finally settles and the body's system is well enough to digest another potion.. About a week should be enough." Lilia gives a close-eyed smile.
"A week!? But we still have classes!" Deuce said out loud, nearly shouting. "[Name] can still very much learn. I don't believe that the potion would slow the brain," Lilia said, wide-eyed from the sudden raise of voice.
"Ah.. But then Professor Crewel would find out if we were to show up with [Name] so tiny.." Deuce brows furrowed. "Oh, yes, I believe you told me that you all snuck inside the classroom to make potions."
"Don't say it like that. We were just curious," Ace said. "I'm sure Crewel would just give you a little lecture." "Eh, no thanks. Professor Crewel talks weirdly that it gives me goosebumps." The orange-haired Heartslabyul shrugs his shoulders, earning a laugh from Lilia.
"It can't be helped. You'll sooner have to face him. In the meantime, why don't you leave [Name] here with me?" Lilia proposes. "It would be much safer to be left at the hands of someone strong. And I'm sure Malleus wouldn't mind being that someone?"
The three of your friends look at each other before eventually agreeing with the idea. Ace carefully takes you out from his pocket and places you in Lilia's hands.
"O' how much cuter you are so tiny," Lilia smiles, his fangs showing. Your friends watched him poke your cheeks and such, not knowing what else to do now, before Deuce suddenly had thought of something. "Oh, right, Lilia, how come you were out here?" he asked. "I felt that someone has stepped foot in the area and came to check.. Turns out it was just you, fufufu."
"Now, you three run along now~" He directs to your friends, pausing briefly before opening his eyes to reveal his eyes seeming to glow a faint red. "Unless you want to be eaten by our members here, that is?"
"Ah, we, we'll get going now! See ya later, [Name]!" The three waves at you and steps back inside the the mirror that leads them back to the light, opposite of Diasomnia's dark setting.
"Now, why don't we go see Malleus, [Name]? I'm sure he can't wait for your nightly stroll together so I'm sure he'll be surprised to see you here!"
He takes light skips to the dorm, passing by fellow Diasomnia members and Silver who fell asleep on the couch and to Malleus' room.
"Malleus~ Look who has come to visit?" Lilia knocks on Malleus' door. There was a few seconds of silence before you could hear hurried footsteps drawing closer before stopping short to open the door. The door flung open and there stood Malleus, with an expectant, excited look.
His face turned to that of perplexed as he was instead staring at Lilia instead. "Fufufu, we have a tiny visitor who'll join us for a while." He raises his hands higher so that you were much closer to his face.
He pries his eyes away from his guardian and retainer to you who sat on his hands, looking up at the dragon-fae with a smile. "Hello, Malleus," you chuckled awkwardly.
"Child of man? What happened?" He asked what anyone would ask first the moment they see you. "Long story short, it's due to a potion."
"Hm, I see.." "Yep! Fufufu, how silly your friends are, [Name]," Lilia makes a quick comment before turning to Malleus. "Now, Malleus, I trust that you will take care of [Name], yes?" He nods. "Very good. I'm leaving the task to you then~"
He places you in Malleus' hands and turns around to skip down the hall. "Now, I have to wake up Silver so he can move to his room."
You two watched as Lilia disappeared from sight before Malleus brought the two of you inside his room. “Hm, how curious, child of man. How exactly had you found yourself taking a shrinkage potion?” he asks as soon as he sat you down on his desk. You told him the story right from the beginning and even what happened leading up to now. “I see. Yes, Lilia is indeed right with what he said, though I have never tried it before. I merely observed.”
He chuckles. “You are an abnormality in this world and a curious one at that. You are fascinating, child of man.” You couldn’t tell whether or not he meant that in a negative way or not, but you think the latter. Malleus would never mean anything in offense, especially to you. “I don’t believe that this will hinder our walk tonight as I will be holding you, so if you’d still like, would you join me for the walk? Ah, but if you are tired, I will allow you to sleep on my bed.”
You shook your head. “I would very much enjoy that walk after what just happened.” Your words brought a smile to Malleus. “I am glad.” He rests his face on his hands and stares at you in a fond manner.
“Do you think I look cute like this?” You ask cheekily after a while of silence. He was caught off guard but quickly gave a reply. “While I do admit that you are adorable, I very much like your original form. It is hard to hold your hands while you are like this as I do not wish to crush you.” He chuckles and you do the same. You grab his free hand and hug his index finger. “Well, I can do this,” you said.
“I suppose you can,” he says and gives a deep laugh, amused at how you could still be cheerful in your current state, though he doesn’t think that altering forms would change your attitude towards things. “Hm, I believe you said you'd be like that for a week, yes? Then, I’ll make sure to keep you safe until then, my precious treasure.”
