What’s it like to listen?

Cassandra did not live in a silent world when David was training. There were many sounds, fists against flesh, gunshots and blades being drawn and wielded.

It was a world she was used to. David never said he was proud, but Cassandra knew he was.

Now, she chooses not to think much about him. He had granted her these skills, but that was all he had given her beyond pain.

The world was louder now, she had to learn what voices were, what type of sound the voices were and what that meant. It was hard. Very hard. And it infuriated her. She wasn’t trained for this.

But, there was one sound she liked. Something that Barbara had given. She named them headphones. They faíce fed her ears and played a soothing tune of gentle… piano, yes.

It was easy to understand. The music was simple, she could close her eyes and focus on it. Barbara wasn’t always understanding, not knowing Cass was trying, and she wasn’t like her.

But this music was nice.

It was nice to have sounds she understood.

Bruce, who was just bombarded with insects: Chum?!

Dick, smiling cheerfully: Bats eat insects!

Bruce: Bats also eat fruits and nectar

Dick: So you're a fruity bat?

Bruce:

So mad right now because all the shows I want to watch are either not on any of the stupid streaming services I have, not available in my country, or nothing has it!

And I’m too tired to pirate it!!!!!

He’s shy

See sometimes I worry I make Steph into to much of Cass's special person. Then other times I wonder if I make Cass to much into Steph's special person. Then I remember that these two hallucinate eachother and I give up.

My headcanon/ideal version for the future has always been Cass as Batman with her civvie id being trust find baby (and philanthropist ofc) Cassie Wayne and for Steph becoming Batwoman and her civvie job being either a doctor or a nurse (influenced by her looking up to Leslie/Crystal) and I JUST NOW realized that’s literally Thomas and Martha

I think this perfectly shows what two thirds of Billy Batson-centric fanfics are

While I loved the jokes of Dick hallucinating Robin jason, I’m actually so happy to see more Cass hallucinating Steph jokes since that happens multiple times in canon unlike halluci-Jason
