it is very flawed but it's been 4 hours, i think i won't do any better and will just redraw everything piece by piece endlessly :')

i wonder how long i will stick to my policy of using tumblr for fun light hearted things only with no arguments or "politics" (in quotation marks bc everything is politics really)
(i hope it's forever lol, conducting discourse about most things on social media rather than offline seems to be more bad than good)
tried to copy kazuhira miller from references to learn to draw him for future shenanigans
burger joint lunch break bad light line of action (30 minutes to fit it into lunch break)
more monsoon
i can't draw lips but i'm learning on him
You can do it, Boss.
finished mgs4. naomi is straight up scariest and most "evil" mgs character to me (no hate though)
in mgs1 i kind of liked her trolling snake, injecting him with foxdie and then answering his question on how much longer he can live with some vague stuff like "doesn't matter how long, you should live good". but in mgs4 she's not only a threat (which is ok, in mgs4 many people try to kill each other) but is also trying to get close to her victims feelings-wise. and when she succeeds with otacon (which ends up not even being crucial to her mission), she keeps hurting him: first dying on live stream while even holding the mk (unnecessary) to keep otacon looking at her, and while i can understand the sentiment behind enjoying other people suffering from your death, acting on it that much is a different thing; and then in her recorded message after all the business stuff she takes time to be emotional with otacon and hurt him again. it's like she's the opposite of solid snake in the sense of expressing feelings.
i was irritated by eva's constant hitting on snake in mgs3 when he clearly couldn't trust her (and for a reason) or mb wasn't interested in general, and succeeding when he was distraught by what he later admits to be a deed after which he was dead inside for the rest of his life, and using him ofc, while continuing to force herself close to him by claiming they loved each other (funny how ground zero briefing mentions that the boss was the only woman he loved). in mgs4 her views on friendship are unconventional to say the least but she's a much more loveable character, especially since it turned out she didn't plan to force big boss to stay unconscious and alive infinitely in that form to maintain jd or out of some vile sentiment.
naomi in mgs4 though is trying to get close to other characters and each time (except vamp) it screams danger and ends up being successful and true and then she openly enjoys and prolongs the suffering she caused, which is scary and evil in my book. at least she didn't hurt sunny. at least it's rude but funny how she reminds snake to die every time they talk, even in the recorded message - i was surprised that wasn't the message she passed to him in the after credits scene, but even there big boss mentioned that it's ok that the new fox die will mutate too, as long as he dies first.
that being said, mgs is not about nice and kind people and she's not a bad character, on the opposite - quite interesting one. but i'm glad i am neither snake nor otacon when it comes to interacting with her, lol.
more (and worse) below
my friend persuaded me to use a liner instead of pencil this time. it sucked lol, i did everything wrong: starting from bad lines and ending by worrying too much about the lines and no possibility to use eraser i forgot about the line of action and messed up the proportions big time. for the last one he proposed using pen so it would be a bit easier than liner. it was a bit easier and actually enjoyable. i messed up the buttock shading and tried again, but messed up face this time (as well as the shape in general) so after the timer reached the limit i drew shades on her and sent her to a tropical resort just to have a bit fun. i also tried a new way of shading in the liner sketches, doesn't look good yet but i will try more.
i started this little sketch/practice diary with intention to post no matter how bad the pic is, so this is the reason im posting it.
have you noticed how the title of boss in mgs is almost mocking, and those who have it are a tool of some forces they are unable to deny?
the boss has respect and obedience of people around her, such as strangelove and other researchers, snake, the cobras, volgin etc. but she earns it exactly by giving her all to whatever task she's assigned to, which were often harmful to her or suicidal. she clearly doesn't want to kill the sorrow or convince snake she's a traitor, and mb she didn't want to go to space and do other stuff either, but she either was blackmailed into those missions by threatening her child or thought it was her responsibility to tie up loose ends or smth. so, what leads to her being the boss is really extreme obedience, often contrary to her own interests.
when snake is "awarded" the title of big boss, it already looks like mockery as it is: he and you, the player, know there's not much heroism in killing the boss. i haven't played mg, mg2 and mgs4 yet, so this might be canonically disproven, but mgsv seems to me like it takes the extreme obedience even further: some organisation says "we're giving your identity to some other guy" and he's like "ok yay β€οΈ π¬ποΈ". it is also notable how in portable ops and peace walker he fights people whose ideas he will directly adopt (nation of mercenaries and metal gear). of course he is the next legendary soldier and his followers respect and obey him, but it seems he earned that by fulfilling some organisation's plan (not in form of direct missions this time) with great skill and dedication. it was interesting to see his path from solo stealth operative to a leader in portable ops, and it does seem like people follow him bc of his field skills (and bc of being put in the brig) than management skills (although he is a charismatic leader).
if you replace "boss" with "tool" or "weapon", it makes just as much sense in terms of passing down the code name. their authority only exists among soldiers and scientists and pows and doesn't exist at all for the people who use them. and it seems that in metal gear when there is a super soldier, the government (or patriots or whoever else) is always training a new one that could kill them if needed. so, both people who get the codename get it after proving they can be made to do anything no matter how much they dislike it, which is ironic.
