I thought I might have enough time to get some art in before posting, just in time for Christmas! (But not Friday!)
One of my first bookmarks on AO3 was Secret Santa and the Ugly Sweater Contest by @annas-hair-donut / @loonysama !
Thoughtful, fluffy and funny with just the right amount of seasonal angst, itâs still one of my favourite Kristanna Modern AU stories from one of my favourite authors.

How You Kiss an Arendellian Princess

The Arendellian princess will die in the eternal winter if she doesnât stay the night in Kristoffâs cabin, and all Kristoff has to do is get through one night without falling for her. It would be much easier if there weren't just one stack of hay to lay on, one blanket to share, and seven rock trolls living in his head who keep trying to fix him up with a woman whoâs engaged to someone else.
Or, an alternate meet cute where Anna wanders into Kristoff's cabin instead of Oaken's and the Valley of the Living Rock is inside Kristoff's head, where the rock trolls live.
I love this colour palette and the vibrant style of this artist! đŤđ
Blueberries! Trying to rely just a little less on color correction and the lasso tool, I guess this is my attempt at slowly trying to dip my toes into traditional art?

Love Will Save You
Fanart for âLove Will Save Youâ by @glassslippers-n-cowboyboots !
This is a great read with generous servings of fluff and wit, but also an inspiring story of the power of unconditional love and removing the stigma of mental health challenges. But really, she had me at Firefighter Kristoff and Anna has her own bakery - called Sprinkles!
The window design is inspired by the lighthouse scene in âLove is An Open Doorâ. I hope you like it!

Summer Solstice
Kristoff had what he thought was the perfect gift for Anna. Despite her telling him she didnât want or need anything, heâd stayed up one night after she fell asleep and shopped online on his phone. As soon as he saw it, he ordered it right away.
The cabin actually had an address, so the package was delivered to the rural mailboxes lined up at the end of the main country road that led to his place. He made sure that Anna was occupied when he went and retrieved it, and quickly wrapped and hid the box back in the cabin.  After that he picked up the accompanying gifts when he went on a supply run for some horse tack â her favourite box of chocolates and a bottle of her favourite wine â and stashed them with the box.Â
He had their place all decked out with romantic lighting, candles and soft country music playing from the radio. When she was done work, the guys were going to tell her that he wasnât feeling good and was already back home. Knowing Anna, she would immediately come home to see how he was doing.Â
As soon as he heard her car in in the gravel park next to his truck, he jumped up from where he was sitting on the couch and grabbed a bouquet of flowers from the coffee table. He took an excited breath then opened the door just as she was ascending the steps.  âHappy Birthday, baby!â
Anna smiled wide, eyes glowing brightly as soon as she saw the flowers. She stepped in front of him. âOh, Kristoff, those are lovely. Thank you!â
Kristoff leaned over and kissed her, lingering on her lips a moment before handing her the flowers and taking her laptop bag and purse from her to hang near the front door. Inside Anna gasped again to see how heâd set everything up for her. Her presents were on the table and the dinner heâd made was in the oven keeping warm. Sheâd mentioned once her mother made an amazing baked spaghetti and meatballs with tons of melty mozzarella and heâd taken a stab at it.
She turned to him. âI am really glad this is what you were doing instead of being sick. I felt awful that you werenât feeling well.â
âSorry. I wanted it to be a surprise.â
âAll is forgiven.â  She smiled and turned back around. âI said no gifts,â Anna giggled, going over to the table and having a look at what he got her. The chocolates and wine he left unwrapped but the small box was wrapped up. âYou are so sweet.â
âYou deserve the world, Anna,â Kristoff said, walking up behind her and rubbing her shoulders. âReally, itâs not much. Just something I saw and really thought you would like.â
She turned and wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him down for a few sweet kisses. âCan I open it now?â she asked.Â
He grinned at her. âAbsolutely. Then we can have dinner.â
âWhatâs for dinner?â
âYouâll see. Go on, open your gifts.â
Anna let go of him excitedly and sat at her spot. Kristoff sat next to her. She picked up and carefully looked at the wine and the chocolates before setting them back on the table. âMy favourties! Thank you, Kristoff!â
He smiled, eagerly waiting as she picked up the box. âSorry, I forgot to buy a card.â
Anna paused where sheâd started to open the gift. âThats fine! Those things are getting so expensive anyway.â She turned back to her present and ripped off the paper. The box just read the name of the tack shop heâd ordered it from so Anna opened it.Â
She gasped when she lifted the lid and pulled the buckle out of the box. âOh, Kristoff! I love it! I wanted one of these! Thank you so much.â
He smiled as she turned it over in her hands. It was embellished metal with a sunflower in the middle. As soon as he saw it, he knew it was the one he wanted to get for her because she didnât have one yet and it suited her perfectly. âHereâs the best part,â he said, reaching over to show her the middle portion of the buckle. He pulled it out, sliding it out from under the sunflower where it was fasted by a magnet. âIt has a pocket knife.â He flipped open the blade.
âOh cool!â Annaâs eyes went wide. âThatâs awesome. I could see that coming in handy if Iâm out on the ranch with you.â
âAbsolutely. Or to protect yourself if you were ever in need.â
She smiled at him. âIf Iâm anywhere with you I never worry about needing protection.â
He smirked in return. âWhile that may be true, I just liked the idea of you having something in case you found yourself in a tough situation. Or, as you said, just using it around the ranch, which I can attest comes in handy from time to time.â
Anna leaned over and kissed him. âThank you, Kristoff. This is wonderful. You spoil me.â
âNo,â he sighed happily, kissing her quickly again, âyou spoil me every day simply by being with me.â
She giggled. âNow that sounds like something youâd read in a birthday card.â
His nose scrunched up playfully. âIt really does, doesnât it.â
Her face turned a touch more serious. âI love you, Kristoff. So much.â
âI love you too, Anna. More than youâll ever know.â He stood up from the chair. âDo you want dinner now?â
Her eyes lit up. âSure! It smells amazing.â
Kristoff went to the kitchen and pulled the spaghetti casserole out of the oven where it had been keeping warm and took it to the table. He set it on a trivet between their plates and Anna gasped slightly to see what heâd made.Â
He went back to the kitchen to each grab them a glass for some of the wine and returned to the table to find Anna with tears in her eyes. Panic set in. âWhatâs wrong, baby?â
She smiled at him, eyes glassy. âNothing. Happy tears. I just canât believe this. The gifts, the dinner⌠you rememberedâŚâ
He sat at the table. âOf course I did. It was on our first real date.â
Anna nodded, sniffing and wiping her eyes. âIt was. And youâve made it for me.â
âWell, I hope I did it justice. Obviously, I didnât have a recipe, just what you told me. So I made the meatballs myself, got some marinara sauce for the spaghetti, and then layered it with cheese.â
âPerfect.â She had gotten a handle on her emotion. âIt looks delicious. Letâs dig in, Iâm starving.â
-----
After dinner there was only one place they wanted to be, and that was tangled together in the sheets. As always, it was beyond fantastic. Kristoff had truly never been with someone as voracious as Anna, who was currently tracing her finger on his chest, and shit did he ever love that.
âThank you for the best birthday of my life so far, Kristoff,â she said, her voice dreamy.
âBaby, I love you so much. I aim to make all your birthdayâs the best ones yet.â
Her hand left his chest and she pushed up on her elbow and looked down at him.  âYou are too precious.â
âYou deserve all the very best in the world, Anna,â he said with a smile as he sat up. They still needed to put the leftover casserole away.
âSo do you, Kristoff.â Anna smiled back at him.Â
He shook his head slightly, still grinning as he pulled his jeans back on. After he did the fly and button, he fastened the buckle of his belt together.Â
Anna was watching his movements as she sat up in bed. âYou mentioned that buckle was a gift from Sven?â she asked, gesturing at it.
Kristoff looked down at the buckle, memories flooding back. âSure did. It was my eighteenth birthday.â He looked at her. âWe were never really gift givers, but as soon as we graduated high school and were settinâ out to get ranchinâ jobs, Sven figured I needed one.â
âForgive me if Iâm wrong, itâs a boar, right?â
He looked down again and ran a thumb over the engraving, smile pulling at the corner of his mouth. âYeah. A wild boar. Back in the orphanage we were read stories about Norse Gods.â He looked back up at Anna. âThe God Freyrâs sacred animal was a wild boar named Gullinbursti, which in Old Norse means gold mane, or golden bristles. That was always my favorite story because wild bores were seen as symbols of strength, courage and fierce protection.â
âAh,â Anna said, slipping on her clothes. âThat makes so much sense.â
Kristoff laughed. âYeah, Iâve always been a little hot headed when it comes to the people in my life. Maybe because it was just me and Sven at the start. Any time he got teased or bullied in school I put a stop to it pretty quick. Had plenty of suspensions and almost got expelled once.âÂ
Anna fell in step beside him as they headed back to the kitchen. âThat does not surprise me one bit.â
He paused at the end of the kitchen island and gestured to the buckle. âI love this thing. Sven had it custom made and it cost him a pretty penny. Itâs pretty much the only material possession I have so far that I really care about.â
âThatâs so sweet, Kristoff. And Svenâs buckle must have been from you? With the crow on it?â
âRaven, actually. Yeah, I got it for him for his eighteenth birthday. Same deal, had it custom made.â He smiled. âRavens are associated with wisdom and insight, and Iâve always felt that he was smarter than me so it seemed fittinâ. Heâs always had this quick way with thinkinâ and interacting with people that has so far escaped me.â
Anna put her hand over her heart. âYou two are the sweetest men, I swear.â
He chuckled. âWell, like I said, we ainât gift givers so itâs the only present weâve ever given each other. Iâm sure weâll both be wearinâ these until they break, or we do.â
She cocked her head to the side. âYou know, I just realized I have no idea what to get you for your birthday.â
Kristoff smiled and pulled her into a hug. âYou donât ever need to buy me gifts, Anna. You are my gift.  Every day with you is a gift, and I cherish them.â
Anna hugged him back tightly. âWell same here obviously, but you still got me a gift so you know I am getting you one too.â
He laughed. âI figured. Just know that you could give me a new pack of socks or underwear and I will greatly appreciate it as much as anything else you could get.â
Anna hummed. âThat gives me an idea actually.â
âDoes it now? What would that be?â
She laughed as she pulled out of his embrace and smiled up at him. âIâm not spoiling the surprise, mister.â

Dec 23rd, early afternoon...
"It's so nice of you to take the children overnight."
Anna beamed at her sister as she packed a few games and things for them so that Elsa would have no trouble keeping them entertained. The older sister pursed her lips and leaned over the kitchen counter, playing one-handed with the ice skater figurine that adorned the etagere.
"I'm not that curious, you know that. But may I ask why Kristoff wants the house to yourselves tonight?"
Her voice suggested innocent questioning, but her sparkling eyes betrayed Ela's cluelessness. Anna squirmed and shrugged, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ears.
"Oh, well... he just wanted us to have a romantic dinner at home. Just the two of us, before Christmas Eve. It's sort of his gift to me this year.
