I need to sleep but I had to share the headcanon I have that Lily actually figured out that Remus is a werewolf first, even before the marauders. Does that make sense canonically, probably not, but after watching clips of the movie where Lupin talks about Lily being there for him in a hard time I just…love this idea…

Just imagine, she realizes if after she sees him missing classes a few times (after particularly hard nights), and she realizes that there was a full moon the night before. But all her interactions with Remus have been fine, he seems like a nice guy (even if his choice in friends is questionable to her) and he seems to be just as interested in learning as her. So of course she’s not judging him. Instead, she takes extra notes when he’s not in class and takes them to him afterwards (usually in the hospital wing), making sure he knows what he missed and what homework is due, and offering to help if he needs it. And at some point she realizes that he likes chocolate, so she makes a point to bring him some when she brings her notes. Sometimes, James, Sirius, and Peter show up when she’s visiting Remus in the hospital wing, and she is…blunt with them, but always kind to Remus, giving him a smile before she leaves.

And…I also kind of love the idea of her giving the nurse (I don’t know if it was Madam Pomfrey back then, I can’t remember) a stuffed animal secretly, so Remus has something to hold on to when he’s feeling bad and all alone in the wing recovering. (But secretly cause she doesn’t want the rest of the marauders to know and make fun of him). And Remus loves it, it comforts him a lot and he’s very grateful (but also tells the nurse that she can offer it to any other student who needs it when he’s not in the hospital wing)

Just give me Lily and Remus being friends since first (or maybe second year), and her not really sure about his friends but really enjoying talking with him whenever the time arises (Severus is still like, her closest friend for a while but Remus is up there too, especially because he knows he can trust her because she never tells anyone that he’s a werewolf, not even Severus).

Just give me Lily and Remus being so close, practically siblings, especially after Petunia and Lily kind of have their falling out. (Though I love the headcanon I saw of Sirius understanding that as well, so…that too lol) And Remus is just there to listen and be her study buddy sometimes, especially after her and Severus stop hanging out. (Of course the other marauders do join in but they aren’t always studying quite as much as Remus and Lily)

I just…I have feelings about this okay? 😭

having jily thoughts. like wow. everyone lily cared about eventually left her but here comes in james “my last breath will be used to defend you” potter and i’m supposed to think they’re boring apparently

now that it’s summer i have no excuse to not read this fic now…
