The Pioneer spacecrafts were the first anythings of human origin to be destined to leave our solar system. Both probes did a lot of research within our solar system before skedaddling off into infinity.

dude seeing these Mega high quality images of the surface of mars that we now have has me fucked up. Like. Mars is a place. mars is a real actual place where one could hypothetically stand. It is a physical place in the universe. ITS JUST OUT THERE LOOKING LIKE UH IDK A REGULAR OLD DESERT WITH LOTS OF ROCKS BUT ITS A WHOLE OTHER PLANET?

btw the katy perry/bezos' girlfriend/other irrelevant billionaires (with the exception of amanda nguyen go research her) 10 minute space stunt was not the first all female expedition no matter how much they try to market it as such. the first all female mission was in 1963 with soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova, who was working class and had to pass incredibly hard exams to be chosen from 400 potential candidates. just in case we started falling for the propaganda machine again
