I thought this message on animation deserved to be spread
Inside Job didn’t just get canceled.
It had its first season split in two, a tactic animators said was used for Cuphead to let them pay staff less. Then, the show was renewed for a real second season.
And then the show was canceled before that second season anyway.
Final Space didn’t just get canceled on the most depressing cliffhanger ever. It was removed from all platforms before becoming a tax write-off, essentially meaning the only ways of really watching the show is through DVD or pirating.
The Owl House wasn’t just given a shortened third season. Disney, a company already known for a, let’s say, complicated relationship with its LGBT+ history, took a show created by a bisexual woman, filled with beloved LGBT+ characters, some of which were teenagers just like the audience, and told said creator to destroy her shows pacing so she could finish her story in just 3 45 minute specials.
I can go on about how Hollywood and television don’t respect animation and the like but this is endemic of a larger problem:
Capitalism destroys art.
The constant need for shows to be either the biggest thing in history or a complete failure, the constant need for a cash cow, leads to any show that doesn’t immediately become Squid Game or Stranger Things levels of popular, especially animated shows, getting scrapped for no reason other then it doesn’t make them enough money.
In our hyper capitalist hellscape, I worry we’re going to see more Inside Jobs, Final Spaces, and Owl Houses: shows made with love, that showcase potential, and dedicated fanbases, having a renewal reversed, or becoming a tax write off, or having its story rushed, so that the executives can save a few cents, while also fucking over employees.
I think that’s the part that always needs to be remembered too; the people behind these shows. Not just the creators or voice actors or well known animators, but everybody. As NewDeal4Animation illustrated, staffs on these shows are often underpaid and overworked. And to then, to not just lose a show you spent months, years of your life on out of nowhere, but to essentially lose a job… it’s terrifying. And every staff member, from the creators to the unpaid interns, deserves better.
So yea. That’s just my thoughts on the matter I guess.
Accurate watching of smiling friends
My husband made me watch smiling friends. We watched the two seasons, one episode after another...
What the hell was that?
Rebloging this because it's a great post
So, it’s only been within the last year and a half or so that I’ve started to realize I am both gray-romantic and Bisexual. I’ve always either been in denial or just had no fucking clue because queer terms are still things I’m learning.
Anyway, on this journey, I’ve noticed something that’s really starting to piss me off. And just what is that?
Well, it’s the notion hammered into us that the character cast of any given media source is Straight until proven Queer. and it pisses me the hell off!
Example? Well, have you ever written a fic or draw a pic of a same-sex ship and someone comments something like “How can you ship that?! There’s no canon evidence they’re gay!”
I always just agreed or don’t respond because I don’t have the mental energy to fight it. But what I always want to say is “Well, there’s no canon evidence they’re straight either!” when a character doesn’t have a canon relationship. Or if they do have a canon relationship, I find myself wanting to say “well, you don’t know that they’re not not Bi!”.

Whilst I may be slightly early to post this, here is my take on Valentine's day.
I have never been in a romantic relationship. This does not mean I see no point in the day. It means I shift my focus to other types of love. And I encourage others to do the same. Show your friends or family appreciation by getting them gifts or even just messaging them.
By far the most important love however, can simply be self love! So I also encourage you to make time for yourself, and do something you enjoy.
Thank you for reading this post, and make sure to share the love!

Only just realised y'all can see my likes and not just reblogs... safe to say, I have nothing to say... it was just kinda cringe.
I've been looking for this video for a while now. It feels like the only thing that perfectly shows how it feels to scroll on your phone for 4hrs.
I don't think we were made for this
Somehow the lyrics still mostly make sense song wise
"American Idiot" with every first beat removed
AGGRESSIVELY REBLOGGING THIS
i'm sorry but this shit annoys me to no end. like this is about heartstopper and you all need to stop acting like that show invented everything.
fucking anyways
1. Koisenu Futari
Show that’s specifically made to be about aromanticism and asexuality as well as how aroace people are perceived by society. They are main characters. That’s the main plot.
2. Heartbreak High
Want a teen show with ace rep? No problem. One of the main characters is ace! Would you look at that! The representation already exists! It's got a ton of other rep too and it's on Netflix but somehow we never got that ace rep yet right? You don't even need subtitles for this one.
3. SkamFr (s12)
Is it a bit too much at times? Ye sure but you know what it also is? Another teen show where the main character is asexual that deals with asexuality as the main theme. And no you don't need to watch all those seasons before to get it.
4. Bojack Horseman
I didn't even watch this one but I'm aware.
5. Cherry Magic
Oh would you look at that a show with main mlm couple where one of the side characters is aroace? I mean surely it hasn't been done before.
6. Run On
You want some casual side character ace rep? Well here you go even kdramas have done it but I guess there just aren't any shows...
Honorary mention to Sex Ed for that one scene.
