Part 7
Wally Clark x fem reader Y/N
Summary: Itâs the day of yours and Wallyâs joint memorial service at school and you see your family for what maybe the last time.
The next few days go in a blur. Mr. Martin is trying to get you to open up about yourself, to share things about yourself and how you are coping. Youâre not really. After the dance when the principal mentioned a memorial reality hit like a train. Iâm dead. Itâs not a dream Iâm dead and so is Wally. You are not the only one struggling to talk about yourself in group, Wally is too. Heâs shared with you some things, but you can tell heâs holding back maybe the same reason why I am too.
Wednesday arrives itâs the day of your joint memorial service. Teachers and students have been all over the gym setting y up chairs and bringing in flowers. And before you know it, itâs time to start. The other ghosts are already sitting down with you and Wally. The doors open and students and staff pile into the room and then you notice your parents and your sister Mary. They look like they havenât slept at all, even from a distance you can tell. Mary is quiet which is not like her sheâs normally the loud 14-year-old girl who loved horses and music youâve never seen her sad until now. You donât even realise but you have been crying ever since your family walked into the gym. Wally sitting beside you puts him arm around you to comfort you. Wallyâs parents are next to arrive, and they look just as devastated as your parents. The gym was filled with all your favourite things. Your favourite flowers, books you love, things with your favourite colour and endless photos of you and Wally around. There were footballs and other sports Wally loves, posters of his favourite music groups. All the special things of you and his life around the gym.
The room goes quiet as Mr Smith heads to the stage. âGood morning, everyone, today is going to be tough as we mourn and celebrate the lives of Y/N and Wally Clark. If you could turn your attention to the projection screen, we have made a photo montage of them.â Photos of you and Wally are shared on the screen along with music. Photos of when you two were young all the way up until your last photo together which happened to be 2 days before your deaths. Tears fill your eyes as you run out the room not being able to handle it. itâs your own memorial, youâre not meant to see it but because you are stuck in this âin betweenâ you must witness not only your own pain, but also your familyâs and even Wallyâs. You leave tears still streaming down your face and air struggling to get to your lungs you just walk as for as your legs will take you before you canât walk anymore and you drop to the floor, put your head between your hands and bring your knees close to your chest as you sob.Â
âHey Darling.â Wally says as he finds you. He crouches down next to you and puts his arm around you. âWell, I guess itâs my turn to be the mess and be embarrassing. I knew it was going to be hard but that-â you canât even finish what you are saying as you choke on your words. You feel a lump at the back on your throat. âItâs ok darling, we can get through this. No one besides the other ghosts the sat through their own memorial beforeâ He whispers. Wally has always called you Darling for as long as you remember but now something makes you feel different. Not in a bad way but maybe in a good way. Before you know it, your memorial is over, and you can see your family in the hall as they make their way to the parking lot. This may be the last time you see your family that is until Mary starts high school, so you follow them, just to be near them. You try to speak to talk to them to let them know you are ok⊠well okish but they canât hear you. They get to their car and leave. Overwhelmed with emotions you drop to your knees sobbing uncontrollably. Maybe it was time to try to share and talk about my emotions with group.Â
You take minute to stop crying, you and Wally head back inside. âWally is it ok if I just have some alone time?â you ask as you make your way down to the teachersâ lounge seemingly where all the other ghosts like to hang out. âI donât like the idea of you being by yourself when you have been in such a state. He replies. âI will be ok, nothing bad is going to happen, Iâm already dead. You silently laugh. âAt least tell me where you will be so if I need to, I can check on you. Wally responds. You can tell heâs emotional too. âIâll be in our spot on the roof, I will be ok I just need a minute to myself. You know how I get when I get overwhelmed. Wally nods as he walks to the teachersâ lounge, and you head in the opposite direction. You get to the roof, and you expect yourself to burst into more tears but to your surprise you donât. you just sit there quietly watch the world go by, something you need to get used to since you donât know how long you will be trapped here.

What about Wally Clark with a reader whoâs kind of the opposite of him. Like heâs very outgoing and friendly but sheâs very reserved and quiet. She doesnât like socializing much and kind of stays to herself, so when she dies at Split River no one really noticed, which did upset her but she also doesnât talk about it. Then one day after a session with mr martin, Wally overhears him talking to Janet about how he feels like she really wont open up and that its a little concerning. So Wally decides to build a friendship with her, which proves to be really difficult at first since she doesnât like to socialize at all. But after a bit he starts to kind of naturally gravitate toward you, and gets you to actually open up to him which makes him very happy.
In the Silence
Synopsis: In which Wally Clark doesnât give up on you, and his hard work pays off.
The thing about Wally Clark was that he never gave up.
It was something everyone in Split River knew about him, something that stuck even after death. He was persistent, always moving forward, always finding a way to make people laugh, to bring people together.
And then there was her.
She was quiet. Kept to herself. The kind of person people didnât really notice, even when she was alive. And after she died? It was like she had never existed at all.
She didnât talk about it, but Wally knew. He heard things. Overheard things. Like today, after Mr. Martinâs session, when he lingered near the door just long enough to catch his voice drifting through the walls.
âShe wonât open up,â Mr. Martin said. âItâs concerning.â
âSome people are just like that,â Janet replied, but there was something in her toneâlike even she wasnât sure.
Wally frowned.
He had never spoken to her much. Not because he didnât want to, but because she made it clear she didnât want anyone to. She was like a shadow, always on the edges, always looking like she had more to say but never saying it.
But Wally liked a challenge.
So the next day, he found her sitting alone near the bleachers, staring out at nothing in particular.
âHey, stranger,â he said, grinning.
She barely acknowledged him. Just a slow blink, a flicker of surprise before she turned back to whatever she was thinking about.
He sat down next to her anyway.
âYou come here often?â he teased, nudging her lightly.
Silence.
Wally was used to people talking back, laughing, meeting his energy. She didnât. She just sat there, arms wrapped around herself, making it very clear that this was her space, and he was intruding.
But Wally Clark didnât scare easy.
So he kept trying.
âž»
It wasnât easy.
She didnât talk much, and when she did, it was short answers. Simple. To the point. If she had her way, she probably wouldâve ignored him forever.
But Wally had patience.
He started sitting with her whenever he could, whether she liked it or not. He talked, and she listened. Told her stories about his life, about football games, about dumb things he and the guys used to do. He didnât know if she actually cared, but she never told him to stop.
And somewhere along the way, it became natural.
She never talked about herself, but she listened. Really listened. And for someone like Wally, who was always loud, always laughing, always the center of attentionâit was kind of nice.
So he kept talking.
Kept filling the silence.
And then, one day, everything changed.
âž»
They were sitting on the bleachers again. Wally had been talking for a whileâabout practice, about parties, about the way death hadnât really hit him until he realized heâd never actually get to grow up.
He sighed, running a hand through his hair. âYou ever think about that? Like⊠what you wouldâve done if you had more time?â
She didnât answer.
Didnât even look at him.
Her hands were clenched in her lap, fingers digging into the fabric of her sweater. Her shoulders were stiff, like she was holding something back.
Wally hesitated.
âYou okay?â he asked, voice softer.
That was all it took.
She broke.
It wasnât just a few tears. It was everything. A flood of emotions that had been buried for too long, crashing down all at once. Her shoulders shook, and before Wally even knew what he was doing, he moved closer, pulling her into a hug.
âItâs okay,â he murmured, holding her as she sobbed. âYouâre okay.â
She didnât say anything. Didnât have to. She just held on, gripping his shirt like he was the only thing keeping her from falling apart completely.
And for once, Wally Clark didnât try to fill the silence.
He just stayed.
