Discussion Shorthand TMDP/TWDP

Discussion Shorthand TMDP/TWDP

I dislike using the words male and female to refer to sex traits because it misgenders trans people with those sex traits. And I also just don't believe in "biological sexes" to begin with.

TMDP (Typical Mullarian Developmental Pathway)- referring to typical/perisex development of characteristics such as breasts, vulva, uterus, ovaries, etc.

Examples of people with TMDP

(perisex) cis women

(perisex) trans men

some (perisex) nonbinary people.

TWDP (Typical Wolffian Developmental Pathway)- referring to typical/perisex development of characteristics such as facial hair, penis, scrotum, testicles, prostate, etc.

Examples of people with TWDP

(perisex) cis men

(perisex) trans women

some (perisex) nonbinary people.

What if someone has neither TWDP or TMDP traits? They are intersex.

This exists for the purpose of talking about anatomy/medical needs as well as for the purpose of explaining how intersex variations differ from perisex sex traits without using the words male/female, as just using those terms further reinforces the coupling of gender and sex traits. I believe all sex traits should be completely decoupled from gender.

Me and my cousin have an ongoing bit where we pretend we made "slightly better" versions of things where we'll be like.

"That was a pretty good movie, but not as good as my movie, House of 1001 Corpses," or "I guess this song is okay. Kind of reminds me of a song I'm working on called 'Faster Car'."

Never once has it been funny or made anyone but us laugh.

Thinking about sleep deprivation again. Thinking about how sleep deprivation exacerbates and outright cause memory dysfunction.

Thinking about how certain neurotypes are statistically more likely to have non standard circadian rhythms. Thinking about how our society doesn't easily allow folks with atypical circadian rhythms to get enough sleep.

Wondering how much "memory loss" would be associated with certain neurotypes if everyone was allowed to get consistent sleep according to their own internal clocks.

Wondering how many of our "typical" symptoms are actually extreme symptoms, exacerbated by a wildly unaccommodating society.

Wondering what every neurotype would look like, if we lived in a world that met our needs.

Hey guys, I wanted to tell you about the Ihyaa' initiative. My friend Mohammed Ayesh, who's been our vetter on the ground in Ghazzah for the last year or so, wants to make a space and provide resources for University students to complete their studies in a proper learning environment, along with providing food parcels, stationary, and other essentials. You may have heard of the Isnad initiative! It's very similar to the Ihyaa' initiative but it's located elsewhere. They had to find the right room to use as a classroom for the Ihyaa' initiative and they're going to be paying rent of 2000$ for it. Mohammed Ayesh has informed me that starting on Monday this rent will begin.

University students are the foundation of a better and rebuilt Ghazzah! If you want to help Ghazzah rebuild, this is one of the first steps you can start assisting with.

'you are not immune to propaganda' is true but sometimes the way people deploy this particular soundbite reveals a complete unwillingness to attribute any agency or ideology to people who espouse some pretty heinous bigotry.

like there was a post going around recently talking about people whose parents became increasingly radicalized by fox news and it had one of those tumblr style comments on it along the lines of "REMEMBER! THIS COULD BE YOU! You are not immune to propaganda either. STAY VIGILANT" and the implication here is always that right wing radicalization is something that somehow happens to otherwise pleasant people without their consent or knowledge. But perhaps some of you guys just need to grapple with the fact that your parents might be more bigoted and reactionary than you want to believe.

nobody is immune to bad information ecosystems or groupthink or poor science or anything else that makes radicalization possible, but i do think the idea that anyone is just a bad news pipeline away from supporting white supremacy does a lot to let white supremacists off the hook. it's the same kind of line of thought that gets people to talk about how bad things in fiction shouldn't be 'romanticized'. its a kind of worldview that operates under the implicit belief that a human being is a vessel being uncritically filled with whatever you pour into it and does nothing to grapple with what the actual appeal of these far right talking points is to the sort of otherwise ""normal"" seeming people that can be sold on them.
