Alright I'm Writing This Mostly To Get My Frustrations On The US Election Results Out Of My System So
Alright I'm writing this mostly to get my frustrations on the US election results out of my system so I can get some sleep without them haunting my dreams. I'll probably delete this in the morning.
As I am writing this it is midnight pst. I am a young woman living in a blue state on the west coast. I should be okay. But many won't. The results haven't officially been called for but it's going to be Trump unless there's a hail mary and a recount. America has survived a first trump presidency but I'm not so sure it's institutions will survive a second. Mostly due to his volatility, project 25, etc. And many people both in the USA and abroad won't make it through these next 4 years without having their rights and their lives threatened and taken away. It is frightening, frustrating, and we need to solidarity and support for on another.
There's alot of stuff to say. Alot of stuff to do. I am not that person to say that now. To give my call to action. Hopefully I will. I hate talking politics online because I am a non confrontational person, a coward, someone who doesn't want to make a name for myself. And I do hate that aspect about myself.
I am scared. Scared for our environment. Our institutions. Our people. The victims to war and genocide we could bring an end to but don't. Scared for healthcare, democracy, basic government functioning. Scared for my own sanity. I realize how incoherent I must be if someone else reads this. I am scared for myself.
I know we must act. Stand defiant against racism, war, genocide, fascism, homophobia and transphobia, and whatever else that's really important that I am blanking out on. We will act. We act. We win.
But today, I am scared. And I need a moment to feel that and a moment to share that. Thank you for reading.

before we get an official announcement on who is replacing biden as the nominee, im just going to put this out there: do not mess this up. i don't care how little you like politics. i don't care if this new nominee isn't your first choice.
our alternative is trump. third party splits the votes, and abstaining is just going to fuck the entire united states over. your vote (AND support) matters, and i better see anyone who doesn't want trump to be elected and the United States to become a fascist, authoritarian regime throwing their full support behind this new nominee.
we have three months to go. we're in crunch time. if you don't want to lose your rights, support this new nominee with everything you've got.
edit: just in case this somehow wasn't obvious, this is NOT the post to be a pessimist on. don't say we're fucked. say TRUMP is fucked. we can't go back and change the nomination timeline, but we can absolutely support our new nominee and ensure they get elected.

Honestly, ever since becoming a fanfic writer myself I’ve become like 500% more understanding and patient about other authors’ update schedules. An author takes 6+ months to post their next chapter? Yeah, totally get that real life can get in the way. An author abandons a fic? Disappointing, but it happens- sometimes inspiration for a story just dies. An author apologizes about taking so long to post a 10k word chapter? Dude, that’s like 18-20 pages on Word single-spaced. It takes me at least a week to write an essay for school a quarter the length of that, and that’s with a deadline.
It’s probably the most important thing writing fanfic has taught me, tbh. How to fully appreciate the hard work someone else has put into their story. How important the role of the audience is to an author. And that no matter what, you are never entitled to demand more of a story that you are getting for free.
