A minority facing an attack can grieve openly, exact revenge, but the supposed privilege of the victims who were members of the majority must be considered when discussing their deaths, you see. Because we simply cannot be victims of a rabid hate crime. Our death and suffering will be re-contextualised, discussed, everyone and their mothers will use the term “nuance” without knowing what it means. We cannot grieve, we cannot mourn our dead. We can only apologise for dying. For being victims that don't fit the narrative. For the dead can be eulogised. The extinct civilization can be celebrated. But the one that keeps on surviving despite repeated attempts to end it all for good will always face their rabid hatred.
